This is what happened:

You went to Brisban at around the same time as someone else who had the Angry Wintersday Gift quest active and helped kill Prototype Assistant Lennor or Zokaggrot the Greedier. Either one drops the cog.

(If you got it in the last couple of days, it might have been my fault ;D as I was just south of their spawn killing giants and also grabbing the cog for myself).

You can get this cog without owning the Angry Winterday Gift, but you cannot progress the quest without both.

If you do own the AWG and have it bound in your wardrobe, take the character to whom the cog is bound and visit Collector Terksli with it in your inventory. After that, track down Rikka and show the Cog to her. You’ll get the cleaning rag from her and can take the cog to Skrittsburgh.

No, I was in Brisban killed either Prototype Assistant Lennor or Zokaggrot the Greedier. And no I didn’t own the Angry Winterday Gift mini.

I know it is a old post, but….Last night, I got an extremely dirty cog, and the wiki said I need to go see Collector Terksli which I found him at the Vault, however, Terksli did not detect that I had the dirty cog. It was supposed to let me see Rikku at Rata Sum for the cleaning rag, but it wouldn’t work either. Was it a bug or no longer taking the extremely dirty cog?

Still getting the same message when WP to Frostgorge from Lion Arch. Error displayed 5:11:3:159:101 Network Error.

I’m surprised no one even mentioned about Malyck in this living story, but I will see if se going to show up later on. I would be even more surprised if he going to show his faces before everyone turn his head into a bowl of salad. There are so many theories going around like wildfire.

Some of you thinking that the Pact was being slaughtered by the sylvari but here is the possible theory:

What if it was coming from Malyck? Their race and their different Pale Tree beyond Maguuma could be possibly had been serving Moremoth all along.

By looking at your picture, the boss was at the same HP as I do and it failed to kill the boss. It is impossible to kill it…SMH

3 words. What the kitten. I got up to the final boss and all manner of words came out when I got so frustrated trying to do it. To me, if feels bugged, here’s why:

I killed the little fragment guy, get the green color go to green light get shield, cool… This is where it breaks for me. I get the fragile thingy, go back to try to destroy the vortex, the green light knocks me back.
So failed that like five times, died a few other times because of bad fragile spawning right under me when fighting… and I gave up at midnight.

Was fun and pretty map, until that. Please, that vortex or the light has to move. Can’t get more than 25% down on the last boss since I get stuck after that first stage.

I was getting the same problem as well. I did the same thing as you did. I tried many other solutions to get around to it and the Malevolent Memory is unkillable. It damaged all of my armors and still unable to kill the boss. I believe it is still a bug. Took me three hours trying to beat it and could not do it. It is now midnight then I gave up and wait until Anet fix this.

One player blamed me for trying to complete the event. I go, “Huh? I was trying to complete the living story.” He said that they are farming and wanted the event to fail so he can get some loots. I had no idea they were farming at Coiled Watch.
Feeling hurt by their comments, I logged off and didn’t play for couple of days. After couple of days, I went back to play at Coiled Watch again and found out they are not farming for loots at the time. I can finally play the rest of living story.
I hate that when farmers get so mad at me for trying to complete the event when they were trying to farm for loots, I get upset about it and log off for few days later. Next time, if I see group of players playing some events, I will ask the if they are farming or not.
I hate farmers.

Please do an isntant hotfix and remove champions spawning in coiled watch, atm all the Frostgorge maps are being farmed there and the event always fails so they can farm it faster so this is a GAME BREAKING situation which doesnt allow to advance the story quest

As for me, I wouldn’t have felt proud or felt like I accomplished something if I was just gifted that thing. Like, one of my guildies gives out precursors for a guild event she organises every now and then… but I don’t feel like getting it in such a way would actually make me happy.

RNG from the forge or a drop is the only way to get precursors for now anyway, Someone could potentially get on on the first world boss they ever kill. To me, getting a precursor as it stands isnt an accomplishment, its pure luck.

But anyway, grats to the OP.

I agree with you. It is all about luck. If I played today and haven’t gotten a precursor, I said, “No precursor yet. Oh well, maybe another day I will get lucky.” I’m not griping about it at all. Maybe one day, luck would be on my side to get one. Who knows what GW2 have in store for me.

It is all about fun and enjoying helping new players.

I’ll chime in and say congrats. This is typical of the Guild Wars 2 community as a whole from what I see in my daily rounds: Players taking opportunities when they see them to make someone else’s day.

The gestures are all different sizes, and it’s not about being able to attach a monetary value to the item given or hold it up and say that it meets a certain list of standards. The common thread in all of these is a player seeing that they can offer something nice to another, and taking the opportunity to do so with no hesitation or expectation of reward. It’s a great thing that happens constantly in Tyria. Thanks for sharing yours!

I could tell you a story about good deed.

One time, I had a character who had a personal story called, “Victory or Death” which it was at Arah. There are several people hanging out at Arah and they were doing nothing but just hanging out. So, I asked if anybody wanted to do the personal story and they said sure. They were glad that I asked because nobody wanted to do “Victory or Death” with them because I had read that other people wanted to do personal story themselves instead forcing them to ask people around to help them with the personal story.

I told them I am glad to help anyone who need to get their personal story completed. It made me feel good to help one another to complete their journey here in Guild Wars 2. I don’t see why people just ignore and not even help those who was new to Arah personal story. Which it was sad to see other people not doing their good deeds.

I am glad that OP had his precursor and I wanted to say congratulation! I am glad to see someone “paying it forward” to do some good deed. I been here for two years and still trying to get a scepter precursor. If I still don’t have one, it is all about having fun and helping other players which I’m glad to help out.

1800 hours and 2 years in this game since launch. Played it about 5 or 6 hours a day. No legendary or precursor. Nah, I’m not angry at all. It is all about enjoying and playing the game.

I already crafted an ascended weapon, but after 1800 hours and 2 years in this game, I haven’t gotten precursor or legendary. I wasn’t angry or frustrated about it. I know it was all luck anyway. If luck was suddenly showed up and got precursor or legendary, I would be glad to hold it in my hand, hold the weapon high in the air and say, “Finally! I got it!”

Anyway, like I said, I wasn’t frustrated or angry after 1800 hours and 2 years in this game. This is all about having fun and helping new players. Recently, I helped 4 people who are new to Arah story mode, because none of people would want to work with others with Arah story mode. It really made me feel good helping other players who are new to the game. It is all about having fun and enjoy the game. Try to enjoy the game once in a while or take a break and let your head prevail for a while.

Being a deaf player myself, after reading the forum from the OP, it really made me smile. In real life, when I see someone with disability who use devices or equipment who used them to help with their lifestyle, it always made me smile. The reason that I smile is because people who have disability can do it with the aid of their devices or equipment.

The only positive thing to see is when people says, “I can DO it!”, instead of saying, “I can’t do it.” When you say it to others when traveling in GW2, no matter what disabilities they have, just tell them, “You can do it!”

I say to myself sometimes, because I am deaf and I can’t hear everything in the game. However, using the captions coming from the NPC, it really helped me so much. Even if I was under attack, it will flash blood red alert border around the screen which it was telling me I am under attack. I don’t rely much on sound but I usually rely much on seeing something that are out of ordinary or being under attack.

I wanted to say thank you to Christina for writing a heartfelt letter to the game devs and Arenanet for making an awesome game.

Since we have Taimi in the game, do we have a deaf NPC in the game? It would be awesome to see the NPC using sign language.

No, it not a joke at all. I know I been here for a year, I am trying to learn new things that I never done before. I will try the artificer and see if I can get it from there.

I recently bought the recipe from Miyani in Lion’s Arch, so I can be able to craft Gift of Energy within the Mystic Forge. I have all the ingredients which it is: 250 Piles of Crystalline Dust, 250 Piles of Luminous Dust, 250 Piles of Radiant Dust, 250 Piles of Incandescent Dust. I was trying to work slowly on getting my goal on getting the Legendary weapon. As I was putting in the ingredients, the “Forge” button is greyed out. I did followed the wiki as it stated in order to craft the Gift of Energy. Was it a known bug or did I got the wrong ingredients? What did I done wrong? Here is the screenshot to show what went wrong.

I just did reported in-game, but not sure if I would get any response from the staff. I just purchased the Royal Pass which it cost 300 gems, but it failed to deliver via Black Lion Trading Post. I am hoping to hear from staff to see if they would help me to get the item I needed. Could it be a glitch?

5:56pm Eastern Time…still downloading…at 75%. sighs

It’s happening the same, but happened differently. Half hour after A’net did finally released the patch, the game launcher started downloading the patch. The last time I checked it was 10,000 files which it seems fine to me. After 20%, the whole system suddenly shut down and rebooted itself. After it rebooted, Windows 7 started to do system repairs. After the repair, it rebooted again and finally got the system working correctly. I did clicked to start the game launcher and what do I see? The dreaded sign says, “Repairing data archives”. -_____________- It started to download the entire 200,000+ files all over again. I been waiting since 2:30 pm Eastern time and it is now 5:28pm. The download is now at 65%. I am not too happy with it. It happens every time there was a new patch, it started to download the entire 200,000+ files. I don’t understand why it is affecting me. So far, no crash and still downloading.

Let’s hope it doesn’t crash the system down and get it to finish downloading. I probably have to wait for 3 more hours to get it done. I am NOT pleased with the repairing.

Overall, I am still looking forward to play the game. A’net, keep up the good work.

I had items that been there since GW2 had launched. In the Black Lion Trading Post, I did checked the transaction and seen some of them was still not being sold for a while. I had seen the button “Remove”, which I was not sure about it. Will it remove the item for good or it can be returned to my inventory? How long my items will be in the transactions? What if I changed my mind and wanted my items back?

Since listening to the song, “Fear Not This Night” who sang by Asja. While I was listening to the song, it makes me think about the overall of this game and how much emotions that caused on in-game characters and all of the fans as well.

I was wondering if Arenanet would create a music video featuring Asja? I would love to see her sing this song. If not, I would understand it wouldn’t happen anyway. I would like to hear a response from Arenanet or any of you fans out there. I think this would be a great discussion.

I keep getting disconnected. I am getting error code (code=7:11:3:189:101). After being patched, it keep disconnecting me after 2 minutes of game play. I dunno what to do now.

I had no problem staying online before the new patch. But after today’s patch, it just started giving me problem.

Atm moment I’m still struggling with gold, I’ve no luck in getting ecto’s from rare
After ±20g-30g forging the precursor…no good reward.
got after 6month around 60 clovers (around 300ecto used)

You can get some luck if you had your items being salvaged. Some rares contains ecto, some rares doesn’t have it. Some rares contains gossamer’s cloth (could be useful for legendary armor, perhap?). First check it with Trading post if the rare or exotic is more valuable. If it not too valuable, try salvaging it and maybe or not you might get lucky with ecto. Best way to do is salvage, salvage, salvage. Maybe people keep selling in TP, but they don’t even bother salvage, so they can get 1-1.5 gold a day. But, it would take too long to get that much gold.

I know salvaging them take too long but take it one day at a time work on building your item you need for Bifrost. I, too, working on Bifrost. I know it will take years for me to get the items I need. Getting the gifts will be tough, but one day it will be really worth it.

Does confusion supposed to cause damage to enemies or to myself? Was it still buggy?

My question is how can confusion can lead to death anyway? It doesn’t make sense. Now, I’m confused. LOL

My character as an elementalist, maybe someday as an elementalist can be able to attach the chainsaw to the staff. Maybe that would make everything interesting, just by swinging the chainsaw/staff while in combat. LOL
