PVP/WVW Rifle Build?

in Warrior

Hello!

I’ve had the game for a while, and just yesterday finally got my main to lvl 80 and beat the game. I’ve decided that next I will make a warrior. Since my last Ranger mainly uses the long-bow, I wanted to avoid using that again, and instead wanted to go with the rifle. Unfortunately, in my experience the rifle just sucks.

Is there any good way to use the rifle, or would I be better off using the standard greatsword-other greatsword that a lot of warriors use these days?

RANGER PETS

I have a few ideas and question-y…. stuff as well.

First, I’m not sure the game should consider pet as a player as opposed to a mob, but I guess that is just preference. It would probably lag a lot of people badly.

Secondly, I honestly feel the beastmastery tree is kind of useless. When I first played ranger, I’m pretty sure I only put points into BM, nothing else.

The problem is that in pvp, this is not very viable.

The one MAJOR problem everyone forgets is that in PVP, players aren’t going to attack your pet, they are going to attack you. I don’t think the pet is broken, just that it isn’t a good asset in PVP.

One thing I would change is make the pets ‘stand still’ as long as possible.

What do I mean by this?

Take my lovely Siamoth, when he attacks an enemy in PVE, the enemies target him, and stand still. He stands still, and it is back-and-forth attacking. In PVP, enemies are constantly moving, and your pet simply cannot get damage in. Even if they slightly strafe, the pet stops what it is doing to reposition itself.

I feel with these pets, especially spiders who have range, something should be done to make them try to attack from where they are first or something.

You know what skill would be awesome for a final beastmastery thing?

Summon both pets at once. The second does not despawn, but when dead it is just that: Dead.

Oh, and I require a Scaled Drake pet.

New Pet Species

First off, I would like to ask a question to the devs since they are doing that Q&A thing.

If this is not where i’m supposed to post this, please let me know.

Q: While new pet groups are unlikely, are new ranger pet species coming for the ranger? ie: Tiger for the cats group, Scaled Drakes for the drake group, ect.

Bats would be awesome, they could be huge and have screeches that stun and lifesteal.

I would LOVE a scaled drake.

Skales/Skels would be interesting.

One thing we could use would be a marmox/dolyak/moose group that focuses on charging.

Hello guys! I own a number of guilds, one of which is known as:

“Four Riders of the Apocalypse”

I’m hoping to have three other people join me.

Just a guild to have fun, wvw, pve, rp, ect

No age or anything like that required; I have only one requirement if you want to join.

You have to be willing to create a character based on a horsemen of the apocalypse.

Since names like Death and War are already taken, I have an idea on how to get very similar names.

If interested, simply post which horsemen you want to take, and I can send you the best builds to make a character a close as possible.

Since I can only have three, give me some reasons on why you want to join. If everyone says “OMG I WANNA B DETH”

then I’ll just take the one that no one chooses.

Poor old Famine and Conquest always have to sit it out, both can be really fun.

Why is everyone using pigs?

Well.

Thanks for the insight guys!

I’ve decided I’m going to work on a build that centers around pigs, making them tankier and maximizing their knockdowns and bleeds. If anyone has suggestions, let me know.

December 10th Ranger changes

Whale.

I’m new to the forums, but I purchased GW2 with a few days of launch.
So far i’m loving it!

However, their are a few questions and problems I have.

First, I don’t mean this in an offensive way at all, but a few of the pet families are almost useless.

Take my favorite, the porcine group.

It has more health than your standard pet, but less health than a bear. In fact, i’m quite sure every stat is lower or the same as a bear.

It’s F2 ability creates an improvised weapon. The problem is that you cannot use this in combat effectively, because it has to stand still to use it, and most of the time your enemy will pick it up in pvp.

A lot of people want to change the f2, but I instead suggest a change in stats.

Make it either more of a tank than a bear with less damage, or have about the health and defense now, but more damage.

Other group worth mentioning are the moas (I feel they should all have support-related screeches, because they almost never hit with the offensive ones), the hyena (Too few damage, ally despawns to quickly), and I feel the drakes are off somehow.

Thank you so much if you read this.

BTW, I love how that one spirit becomes a whale underwater! If only we had a whale pet.

Whale.

I love Rangers. Definitely my favorite class, even if they might be a wee-bit underpowered. I love the longbow and the pets.

However, something has irked me for ages.

The juvenile siamoth is my favorite pet appearance wise, but the pig family as a whole is laughable. It lacks the vitality and toughness to be a tank, and the damage or precision to be a damage dealer. It has no support abilities, and the specials take too long to ever be used.

And yet, more and more people are using warthogs.

Why is this? I now see more people with boars then bears. I love boars, so if you guys can tell me what i’m missing, that would be great!

Also, minor question, is a spider or a devourer better for a ranged pet.

Thank you.
