I hope they say that the “thing” we killed wasn’t Zhaitan. I really hope they come out and say that thing was a surrogate body Zhaitan was creating for himself and we killed it before it was complete. That would explain why it looked so ugly and also why the concept art of Zhaitan looked different from what we saw in-game

That sounds terrible. It sounds like you are suggesting that you pay for a subscription and then they will slowly give you gems as a sort of allowance and then they’ll give you a set of armor, maybe. Also the business model of “Pay us a subscription fee and then we will give you a discount when you throw more money at us” strikes me and probably a lot of other people the wrong way. A much more preferable way of having a subscription fee to the BL Trading Post would be that when they release new stuff you get ALL of it. No RNG and no BLC keys, you just get all the weapons and all the armor skins, dyes and whatever then maybe they throw in a Name change contract, BLC keys or some small item for being a monthly subscriber.

Subscription Fee? No they should not have a subscription fee but they should have something similar too it. They should do what console games have been doing for a while which is having season passes. You pay $20 dollars and you get that full season and all the armors and weapons that come along with it (i am talking about the black lion chest skins and the gemstore armors). Now when i say come along with the Season pass i am saying that you can earn them by completing task varying on difficulty (Not kittening Grinding! Screw the Silver Wastes system, it is kitten). Then for the people that don’t pay the 20 dollars? They get to go to the new areas and get some weapons or armors (for example they would be able to get the bug weapons and armor from this seasons LS) but they don’t get to experience the story and can’t get the BL Armors or skins. So this way eliminates two problems, Anet will get almost everyone (maybe a little less then everyone) paying the $20 dollars or whatever for a full season which will make Anet alot of money and the money grabbing that is the BLC will be close to eliminated making every player happy that they aren’t getting screwed because of a RNG system.

Heh, i just came on here to make a collection suggestion so i guess i’ll just piggy back on this one.

I was thinking it’d be cool if they had a dye collection for the non gem store dyes and the gem store dyes. For rewards i was thinking that for the non gem-store dyes once you collect them all you get a special exotic dye that cycles through all the dyes you have. Then for the gem store once you collect a set (a set being taimi’s dyes, glint’s dyes etc.) you get an exotic version of all the dyes but they have a special effect on the armor you apply it to, so like a tequatl weapon effect for all the enameled dyes and glow effect for all taimi’s dyes and so on and so forth.

They are most likely saving the option for a ranger to use a pistol (among other weapons) for a later date (expansion or living story).

Some of the skins look bad and i thought it be cool if we could unlock new skins via gem-store, crafting, rare drop(consumable), side quest, defeating Liadri, and from meta-achievement rewards. The skins wouldn’t add stats or special moves they would be purely cosmetic.

I want cheaper things in the gem store. 10 dollars for one set of armor can not be justified, maybe if it was 3 sets it could be. The game costs $50. If i am paying 1/5 the price for armor it better be some kitten’in armor (most armors are not worth $10). Too bad people will keep dishing out $10 bucks for 1 set of sub-par armor for one piece of the set they like. Also i would like to see weapons in the gemstore and not have some stupid RNG.

Well i fixed the problem by myself. I recently bought a TV and hooked it up to my computer. I already had 2 monitors hooked up to my graphics card and my card can only output to two different types of plug at a time. I had DVI plugged in and the HDMI plugged in so the displayport plug (that the TV was plugged into) didn’t work while i had the others ones plugged in or the other monitors activated. Well To make a long story short I had to unplug the displayport then use the AMD Catalyst Control Center Removal tool on AMDs website (I tried manually removing and installing CCC but that was not sufficient) and then installed the regular drivers and not the beta drivers. I am pretty sure the beta drivers will work but i was just playing it safe. I am almost 100% positive that the problem was caused by plugging my TV into the Graphics card.

So since i see no compilation of fixes on these forums I think I’ll go ahead and write out everything i tried and maybe it will help someone else that has a crash on start-up.

Delete the GuildWars2 file Local.dat
Mine was located here: C:\Users\Your user Name\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
Your file might be located somewhere else. Then try to run the game again.

If that doesn’t work

Delete your local.dat file again (when you the run the game it gets recreated).
Create a Guildwars2 shortcut and right-click on it and got to “Properties”. Under properties find where it says Target and add -repair to the end of it and run the shortcut you created but make sure to run it as administrator (right click shortcut and click “Run as Administrator”) If that doesn’t work instead of adding -repair to the end of the target put -windowed and run that as administrator.

Note
the target should originally look like this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”
what you do is add -repair or -windowed to the end of it so it should looks like this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
Also only use the shortcut that you added -repair to, to repair gw2s files. After the repair is complete go to the original Gw2.exe file and run off that (make sure to run as administrator)

If that doesn’t work

Uninstall and Re-install DirectX

If that doesn’t work

Uninstall and Re-install Drivers for your Graphics card (if you have an AMD graphics card use their uninstall tool on their website)

If that doesn’t work

Check to see if your Hard drive is damaged by going to “This PC” in your files then find “Local Disk (C:)” and right click on it and go to “Properties” Then go to “Tools”. You will see a box that says “Error Checking” In that box click “Check”. Then click “Scan Drive” and wait for it to finish to see if your Hard Drive is all cancered up. If your hard drive is all cancered up you’re screwed.

If that doesn’t work

I would recommend just uninstalling GW2 and re-installing it but i would save this for last because it takes forever to re-install

Now there may be a better to fix your problem but i did all these things to fix my problem.

Okay so i did a bit more searching and found out that i had to create a new shortcut and add “-windowed” to the default target. But a new problem arose. I am guess what… stuck in windowed mode. If i try to change to change the resolution or go back to full screen the game crashes again. So am i stuck playing in windowed mode or is there something i can do to fix this?

Guild Wars 2 was working fine last week but now it isn’t running at all. Like i said in the title it crashes on start-up. When i click on details on the crash page i get this:

So i’ll post the things i have read online to do that didn’t help. I deleted the local.dat file. I created a shortcut for gw2 and changed the target in properties (added " -repair" to the end of the target) and ran the new shortcut. I downloaded the latest drivers for windows 8.1 and re-downloaded AMDs catalyst control centers latest driver for my graphics card. I ran an error check program on my Hard Drive to see if my hard drive was faulty or damaged. I downloaded DirectX again. I uninstalled and deleted every gw2 file (i could find) on my computer and re-installed gw2 and to no avail. The error message was still popping up. So then i re-did everything again (i.e. made shortcut to repair, check hard drive, re-download drivers and direct x, delete local.dat file etc.).

I would gladly appreciate some help so i can get this game up and running again.

I am hoping Marjory dies. I do not like that character at all. I specifically don’t like the 1920’s stereotypical detective voice they gave her. It makes the character more comical than serious (like most characters in the game). But as far as speculating what might happen to her next i don’t think they are going to kill her off. This whole living story that we have seen this year seems like it is all geared toward Destiny’s Edge 2.0 . So most likely Marjory and Kasmeer will be around for a while and i wouldn’t be surprised if Scarlet joins in on Destiny’s Edge 2.0 because a Sylvari is missing still missing from it.

I like having my mini out but i always deposit it into the bank by accident. So i was thinking why not make them their own miniature tab on the hero panel. (Like what you did with the finishers). I was thinking when you get a mini you should be able to have an option to sell it (if not account-bound) or add it to a list of your own personal minis. From the hero panel you would be able to choose what mini you want to equip.

Also just as another idea since i am on the topic i was thinking it would be cool if minis had stats they would give you (that could be toggled on and off). But sort of like a pros and cons thing.

For Example,

Lets say one mini makes you walk faster by 5% but the con of having it is that cripples applied to you last 20% longer.

Just as another example,

Lets say a minis makes bleed durations last 5% longer but you take 10% more damage from conditions

Then for the special holiday minis you could buy or get through achievements they would just repeat stats from other minis or give Magic Find or Increased Gold drops.

And if those ideas were bad at least make it so minis don’t get deposited when you click deposit all collectibles. Make it so you have to manually do it for the mini.

P.S. I know about invisible bags but still having to carry around a mini that takes a bag slot sucks and my invisible bag is already full of weapons and armor.

As of right now though i believe most will agree that the scepter, staff, Icebreaker and some other skins need to be redone because they are bad. Also since no one uses most of the skins anyways i think remaking them to make them more appealing won’t cause to much harm. People will probably actually use the skins if they are redone. Also i don’t believe they purposely made the weapons look old (to be honest i dont even see them as looking old)and if they did make them to appear old they still could have made them look better.

Also i am not asking to replace. I am just asking to add too. For example i assume you have seen the icebreaker image. It is a darker blue with floating ice around it. It looks cool. But look at what you get in game. Compared to the image the icebreaker in game looks like crap. Just like the fel-blade the image looks cool but what you get is totally different. It appears as if some of you are mistaking re-make for take out. Or maybe i am using the word wrong.

All i am simply saying is that they should make the weapon more like the images in the picture. Simply to add better effects and colors. Not to take out anything.

I spent hours on end grinding for materials and doing hard kitten missions by myself to unlock my hall of monument weapons and armors only to see that they look okay. All the weapons looked like they were designed in a day or two and looked nowhere as cool as the pictures did. It’d be cool if you could get a couple of guys to go re-skin the weapons and maybe put some cooler effects on them. It wouldn’t have to be anything like the legendary weapons but just something to make the effort i put forth into getting those weapons matter.

Just as a side note the fel-blade and longbow look good but they need to be darkened a bit and on the fel-blade the effect needs to be ramped up

My guild Black Rain [Rain] is looking to merge with another small guild on the Darkhaven server. We are currently trying to unlock guild missions and decided we need more people. As of right now our upgrades are as follows.
- Politics Level 4
-Art of war 3 (process of becoming level 4)
-Economy Level 4
-Architecture Level 3

I have a small list of thing that would be cool to have in the game

1. Guild capes should be brought back from the last game. Nothing like running around with a unique cape. (The guild armor isn’t that great in my opinion)

2. Guild halls should be brought back. With the new cannons and stuff it would be cool to storm someones guild castle or protect your own.

3. A quiver as an option for the armor back slot. (The animation is already there of the character taking an arrow out of the quiver why not actually make a quiver?)

4. Better targeting system. My character often switches targets or stops attacking when i turn the camera to look at something else and this is annoying because my character will start shooting at a mob that i wasn’t even fighting. Also the auto targeting often targets enemies extremely far away and not enemies that are closer. So my pet runs off and attacks the wrong target. (so maybe enemies closer in range have a higher auto-targeting chance then ones far way)

5. Tailoring can make town clothes or a place to buy different town clothes.

6. Auto switch to town clothes

7. Better drop rates for crafting items or at least some enemies drop more than one item. Lets say you kill a spider and get two venom sacs instead of one.

8. Place to get a haircut/ dye your hair

9. Get rid of Invulnerable and just give bots that can’t get to you health regen.

10. Bots tend to stand in one place alot. Sort of ruins the feel seeing 20+ bears standing around doing nothing.

11. Add a trading post in Hoelbrok and other main cities.

12. More enemy variations. Most enemies (trolls, scales, etc.) look exactly the same just different colors. Maybe add some spikes or something to scales of different regions Make them more unique.

13. Bring back the Zaishen Menagerie or something of equal value. Something about being able to switch between 50 different pets on will feels weird.

14. Add some armor for the pets. Like maybe a collar or something. Nothing to big just to change the stats.

15. Pets like to wander off extremely far distances and drag enemies, so maybe shorting their strolling distance.

16. Mini-pets should not take up a bag space. They should have their own slot underneath the accessories and rings slot in the hero panel.

17. A looking for group party search thing.

18. Be able to make alliances with guilds. Maybe a rival system as well?

19. This has been said but WAYPOINTS cost less money and you get free revival for the nearest way point. Nothing like dying, having to pay to revive then having to pay to get your gear repaired. It sucks.

20. The tanks and motorcycles that you see in orr (the charr ones) should be put into WvW.

21. I know there shouldn’t be mounts in PvE because of all the waypoints but WvW would be cool to have some mounts (I don’t know if this would work in this game i just like riding on dragons and sheet.)

22. Bigger enemies! Nothing like taking down a group of giant elephants. (all the enemies are human sized.) There are no big enemies besides the Gigantic enemies like dragons and giants. What i am saying is there are no ,well elephant sized enemies. (I like killing big things)
