A simple point people don’t seem to understand is that the core game inclusion isn’t influencing the price in any way… it’s just something they threw in so new players that missed the previous sales aren’t stuck behind a huge paywall. They just got lucky to get the game at a lower price than others(free of charge in this case) the same way people got it for 75% less during the recent sales but nobody raised any pitchforks then even though they should have, according to the logic the complaining follows. The expansion itself costs 50$, you’d be paying that regardless of core game inclusion. Nobody is forcing you to pay extra for something you already have. Think of it as a 100% discount product you don’t have to put in your basket separately.
As for the pricing itself, $40 to $50 is just standard pricing for MMO expansions. And saying there’s not enough content to justify the price isn’t valid because we don’t know how much content there actually is. Which is where the magic of pre-purchasing kicks in… you don’t have to buy it now if you don’t feel you know enough. Pre-purchasing is an optional gesture of faith from the consumers. The game didn’t release yet. Anet isn’t demanding that we pay for the game now and then releasing it in a week or two from now. The game is several months from being ready. In fact, Anet isn’t demanding anything and people are hatemongering for no real reason. The game isn’t going live with just the things that were revealed up until now, and I don’t know why people are acting like it is. There’s still months of reveals ahead of us. Just stop with the pointless, and frankly baseless anger and hatred.
I really dig this color scheme and was wondering if anyone here can recognize the dyes by name, most significantly the one the “metallic” parts of the armor are colored in
EDIT: I’m an idiot, forgot the link

Hey there,
I’ve got a friend who got halfway through the first chapter, but I completed it. And when he went to the floating green star that starts the instance, I couldn’t see it nor did I get a prompt if I want to join him or not.
Are we really forbidden from playing through this with friends like we could personal story chapters or am I ding something wrong?
Heyo. I’m currently leveling my thief who is also a leatherworker. I’ve been crafting my own armor as I went along. I’ve been wondering though, which is are the best insignias to use in a PvE thief who is solo 75% of the time. I use D/D and Shortbow, predominantly D/D.
Charrlie Charrcoal, golden furred ranger, and Arch Flastad, black furred guardian. I’ve got two. Maybe went a bit overboard on the first one :P
5/10 because Dinkums sounds kinda cute-ish. Charr aren’t cute.
Bumping for answer
She’s the one in LA that trades Captain’s Council Commendations for weapons and consumables. I wanna know if I need to trade in all my commendations before the event is over.
It definitely needs to be made harder. He goes down way to fast and easy. And something has to be done about the reward system.
I killed him 4 times. I did the pre-event all 4 times, and dealt over 50k damage to him. I spammed every skill from all 4 attunements as often as I could. And I never got anything more than bronze participation.
So, I’m 370 in jewelcrafting on my elementalist, and I’m just wondering… what is a better choice for an elementalist to craft their accessories with? Beryl or Ruby crystals?
Beryl gives Power, Vitality, Condition Damage
Ruby gives Power, Precision, Critical hit damage
EDIT: I use the staff 90% of the time

What I use and has worked very well for me in PvE, all the way up to level 80:
FIRE
30 Points
Major Traits:
Internal Fire: 10% More damage while attuned to fire
Pyromancer’s Alacricity: Fire magic skills recharge 20% faster
Pyromancer’s Puissance: Every fire magic skill adds a stack of might for a few seconds
AIR
20 Points
Major Traits:
One With Air: Move 25% faster while attuned to air. 5% for every 5 seconds you’re attuned to air.
Bolt to the Heart: Deal 20% more damage to foes under 25% health
ARCANE
20 Points
Major Traits:
Final Shielding: When you drop under 25% health, you gain Arcane Shield, which explodes after blocking 3 attacks, damaging surrounding enemies.
Blasting Staff: Area of Effect spells have increased radius.
It gives amazing AoE damage while attuned to Fire, allowing you to clear several enemies at once fairly quickly. For survivability, I have the Arcane Shield trait, plus I put another one into one of my utility slots. That way, when in a bad spot, I can block 6 attacks, with two damaging AoE blast after every 3 attacks. Combine that with a Glyph of Lesser Elementals to summon an elemental to fight alongside you, and you’ll rarely have trouble while PvE-ing. Even less so when you combine it with the Glyph of Elements elite skill. Shortest cooldown of all your elite skills, and it summons another, stronger elemental. So it’s you, and two elementals. You can choose which type of elementals to summon, depending on the situation you’re currently in. Want to melt that mob of enemies? Summon 2 fire elementals. Wanna put a wall between you and those nasty, tough enemies? Summon two earth elementals. And the movement speed boost from the Air trair is just such a lifesaver. Constantly moving 25% faster will make life in Tyria a lot easier for you.
Well, ANet put in the game that cooking is an elite profession needing much more time, money, and karma to complete. Getting to 400 with 3000 Karma and 50-something silver kinda didn’t fit that idea.
You can’t do it anymore, at least people didn’t discover new recipes. Various ingredients, like Oranges, can’t be bought for Karma anymore, and can only be received from drop,s harvesting, etc.
Right now, you won’t be able to do it.
