Well it forces people to pursue more equipment which I like, however, I am not a fan of these 250 T6 mat recipes… not cool
Its quite easy if you know what to do
I recommend this:
Defiant Stance, Bulls Rush, Signet of Stamnia (condi cleanse & more dodges), Berserkers Stance
First you pop Berserkers stance, then you GS 5 straight through the middle, then you swap to Sword/Warhorn & use Sword 2 and WH 4. When you get low you pop Defiant Stance & bulls rush to the end.
This is driving me craaaazy!
kittenin Heitred… oh man
lol’d
I will never be able to sit still for 1 hour and watch this all though
While I’m at it… I think that conjured weapons and banners should prioritize over NPC chat…
Hey all,
I’m not sure if this has been brought up before however its something that has been really getting on my nerves recently, its the AI of NPC’s, specifically in dungeons however this is also applicable to certain open world events.
For what ever reason, NPC’s in dungeons regularly pull agro or are prioritized for agro over players, which is mind-blowingly stupid.
As for specific examples, I am sure most people are aware that Detha in Ascalonian Catacombs path 2 will attack the ghost eater while you are trying to set up the trap, and hence, a legitimate strategy is to get her killed.
How exactly is this an appropriate method? With the current AI I think that the gun attacks not doing 0 damage ticks would stop that, however, that’s not the point at hand. The point is much simpler, the stupid NPC should not have to be killed in order to do things successfully (well, more easily).
Another example? NPC’s in Arah catching Lupicus agro while fighting and causing him to shadow step to the NPC while you are fighting him. How is it ‘intelligent’ at all for the NPC to prioritize agro over players?
Anyway, I’m not entirely sure what needs to be done but its a little bit irritating so I thought I would rant a little.
In wvw with a 3 minute skill delay… whats the point even bothering… >.<
I’m afraid you are mistaken Weth: conjured weapons do have a varying weapon strength.
I think what Richo meant is that the weapon strength of conjures is independent of your equipped weapons. I don’t see how that helps for the research we are trying to do though.
I was under the impression that they are only affected by might, vuln and modifiers.. however that may be incorrect >.<
The simplest way is to just focus on either minimum or maximum damage.
If you want to be certain you should focus on both minimum damage and maximum damage. Then you can use weapon damage range to calculate potential values and to check whether your tests have big enough sample.
For example Greatsword with 1,045 – 1,155 damage shows that maximum damage should be 10.5% higher than the minimum damage. Sword A is expected to have 5% higher damage then sword B.
If sword B hits for 1000 damage you can say that potential maximum damage is 1105. If sword A hits for over 1105 damage you can conclude that A is stronger.
If sword A hits for 1100 damage then you have to test more. Either until sword B hits for less than 996 or that sword A hits more than 1105.
If at any point sword A hits so low that it’s potential maximum damage is less than 5% of B’s tested maximum damage then you can conclude that A is not 5% stronger than B.
This may seem complicated but you can usually see difference quite quickly. Hit 10 times with both weapons and write down minimum and maximum damages. See if you can conclude anything. If not, repeat until you get something.
Little bit extensive for something that is not particularly difficult to check… Conjured weapons are not affected by weapon damage however they are effected by damage mods and stats… I think they would provide an easier test with a similar method.
Yes its broken, there are also multiple other threads on this so don’t stress >< Mod gonna have to do a heap of merging at this rate
Yep I can’t buy or sell right now ><
My proposal is to improve the minor grandmaster trait Strength of Undeath (which grants you a 5% damage increase while your DS is above 50%) to work similarly to warrior’s trait Empower Allies or guardian’s Strength in Numbers to include nearby allies (up to 5).
This would make necromancer a more wanted profession in dungeons and large scale pve since they lack support and a 5% damage increase to the whole party would make them more viable.
This would promote poor usage of Death Shroud, which is our primary defensive mechanic, and, in the case of power builds, the source of most of our damage. Hence, I can’t say I agree with such a change.
Primary DEFENSE? Wot…
I can do it full berserker but you need to be norn… Norn bear form 5 skill + pick up orb, gets you very very very far, you end it when your health is like 25%, pop defiant stance straight away or you will die, then just bullrush and give yourself swiftness from utility and you will make it
Ahahaha ty for the tldr because I really can’t be ‘kittened’ with the slab of text, however I agree Norn elites are a little sad… they are more of just a novelty… Like, I can use my norn warrior in arah p3/p4 to solo the light room, but then I endure a 240s CD on my elite for nothing, so really the entire skill is just a novelty.
Ele’s do not need help in PVE… Honestly, Ele’s are basically the current meta…
Ha, correct use of the word “meta”!
But hrm, I’d say Eles need a lot of help, it’s just that two skills, namely Bow and GS, carry them along. That’s not a healthy situations at all.
Lightning hammer is also incredible powerful O:)
So basically, conjured weapons… ahahaha, but that isnt necessarily a bad thing…
With all due respect, I believe this is an issue in both PVP and PVE content of the game. Eles and rangers need more love.
The problem is not whether Eles or Rangers need love in PvP, the problem is that PvP-balance is – due to it’s small scale – ~diametrically opposed to balance outside of PvP.
Even a balance split would barely make a dent because the very underlying design ideas of the classes need to be different.
As such, the problem really comes down to what you want to balance. “Interesting concepts and powerful design” (PvE/WvW-zerg) vs “Low complexity, high depth skill-based fight win” (sPvP/WvW 1v1)
I’m pretty sure I didn’t say that eles and rangers only need help in PVP. I said that in general.
Ele’s do not need help in PVE… Honestly, Ele’s are basically the current meta… Ranger’s I would agree might, however, I have still seen some decent rangers in PVE, but the skill level required is more significant.
I think the statement made captures the problem nicely, that is, given PVP and PVE are linked, changing one alters the other thus resulting in balances and imbalances.
@Richo
You sound like a pure PVE Elementalist. Record in Arah? Who cares about that? LH as a DPS weapon? That’s either PVE or for-fun builds only.
You’re locking the comparison to Scepter/Focus then you claim that elementalists have enough defensive skills. Do you even play WvW or PvP? Do you realize how many people use Focus in contents aside PVE? Simply because 1 weapon set has enough defensive capabilities means that elementalist as a whole has enough defensive capabilities.
PVE is not equal to PVP/WVW. Play some WVW/PVP so you realize how much elementalists lack in the defensive department.
Well my argument did start off in PVE, and it appears to have continued on in this sense, and I do believe that PVP should be entirely seperate from PVE in order not to break the mechanics of classes in both instances, however, fresh air builds are still reasonably viable in PVP anyway. Besides, staff also has crowd control and an evade which is useful in WvW.
Ok, so Elementalist has CCs and evade. So does every other single class. Mesmers and thief have invisibility to compensate for low armor/low HP. Warriors have High HP, Armor, mobility, and blocks. Guardians have great sustain and defensive capabilites to compensate for the low HP. Do I need to state every advantage of every single class?
If elementalist staff is so great, why is it that most people consider staff elementalists a free kill outside of a zerg? Why are elementalists considered the bottom of the food chain along with rangers? Honestly speaking, elementalists and rangers need the most attention from Anet in regards to buffs.
Why are you locking the argument to a single weapon set anyway? If elementalists are fine as they are now, how come you only mentioned Fresh Air builds as the only viable build in PVP?
I wouldnt try to 1v1 in pvp with an ele, but that doesnt necessarily mean you should make it a 1v1 class. This is a team game, afterall and is far from focused on people 1v1ing all the time.
Besides, my arguments prior are regarding PVE and if they are going to change ele’s for pvp/wvw I would prefer they dont ruin PVE in the process.

ps. The arah statement was in regards to being criticized about not playing ‘high end content’.
I really love people saying that a weapons deals damage when they are doing everything with an “UTILITY” (not to mention it disables weapon skills).
Discussions are becoming so silly recently
This is one of the many gems….
I disagree with this… you get invulns, projectile absorb, heaps of dodges, arcane shield (3 blocks + can proc more damage)
Its a high risk high reward class, I think its fantastic
This is incredibly incorrect
Scepter focus can provide you with pretty incredible DPS if you can do your might rotations and follow up with a lightning hammer
I Always thought how fun and deep is to roll an ele, use his weaponskills to get might OOC and then running into battle with 5 warrior skills and only 2 utilities……
XD
Not to mention how well it works in fotms
Bottom line is, ele’s dont need more health or armour and they can deal damage. Your weapons still help you, and your utilities still end up being weapons
I know all about your 0 30 0 20 30 build or what ever crap it was and I know exactly why you are having problems putting out dps
That is the HAMMER is donig the damage but at that point you can t use your defensive skills and thus anuthing you have is useless.
An ele shouldn t be forced into use conjured weapons (UTILITIES) in order to be viable.
Exactly as i said…a full zerker MELEE (D/D) ele with 25 might does low DPS…
Yes its the ‘hammer doing the damage’, but the scepter focus can give you 21 stacks of might on your own… And please remember when you drop your LH, you get 2, you can always drop one to get your defensive skills up, however, in party play, your team might also be able to HELP YOU (funny that).
If you’re having a hard time dps’ing with an ele then I fear your build sucks or your play style is not working at all
It may pay off to look into a solid conjured weapon build
btw, conjured weapons arent the ‘only viable way’, they are just a better way.
If you want to do damage you don t use a focus.
This is incredibly incorrect
Scepter focus can provide you with pretty incredible DPS if you can do your might rotations and follow up with a lightning hammer
Oh fun time

1) There are no Invulns on any damage weapons, are you talking about Cantrips?
2) Projectile aborb makes us switch attunements and lock ourselves out of doing damage for 13 seconds
3) “Heaps of dodges” – that’s Vigor, i.e. Renewing Stamina. It’s a misconception that Ele’s have “extra dodges” when they really don’t, they have to trait for it.None of this is even remotely comparable to Mesmer clones, Thief stealth, Guardian blocks/invuln, Warrior base stats, etc.
A Warrior in my gear will have almost 20K health + higher armor and that is nuts.
1) Focus 5 in earth is an invuln
2) If you rely on switching to attunements from damage while using a focus you’re not playing ele properly, unless youre talking about the 20% dmg loss from not being attuned to water
3) Apart from anet now giving burning speed an evade frame, you should note that undraft provides a 1 second evade (which is very very big), phoenix provides vigor and burning retreat provides a 1 second evade (if youre a staff camper)
Honestly, its no where near as bad as you are trying to make it out to be
I disagree with this… you get invulns, projectile absorb, heaps of dodges, arcane shield (3 blocks + can proc more damage)

Equipping all kinds of defensive skills does not equate to a class being sustainable or decently survivable if these defensive skills have such short durations on such atrocious cooldowns.
Then equip an energy sigil and you have f1-f4 with an internal cd of like.. 5-6s I think. I have no problems staying alive on my glass ele in PVE and the only defensive utility I use is arcane shield, so I don’t actually understand why there is such commotion about the caster class being so squishy…
I disagree with this… you get invulns, projectile absorb, heaps of dodges, arcane shield (3 blocks + can proc more damage)

Yeah… look, if its that much of a problem, why don’t all the people complaining go off and get a 7s kill the same way?
When you can’t, stop complaining
There will always be people who are better than you no matter how much you complain and how much gets nerfed, giving you more reason to cry.
People who say “there is no control” in this game are absolutely idiotic. Control is the thing that allows DPS to work as well as it does. All members of the party bring control elements in a successful speed run group, working as intended by design.
What you DON’T have is a dedicate “control player” who sits there and CC-locks bosses the whole fight to allow people to beat down bosses Bjarl fruit style.
I suspect that the desire for “pure control” comes from disgruntled pvt WvW stunlock zerg hammer warriors who are told they arent so hot in pve and cant fathom the idea of not using a different build for a different game mode.
I believe the “control” that is being discussed is on disabling effects, and not kiting conditions (crippled/chilled) or mitigators (blinds/weakness).
And exactly, there should be no reason why a hammer warrior should not be as useful as a GS/Axe+X warrior. Just as why a condition player should not be rendered useless when there is already a condition player in the party.
This entire thread is about balance and ensuring everyone is welcomed to play how they want, when they want.
“Play how you want” doesn’t mean that every build and every profession should be equally effective at every aspect of the game. This was even stated at some point by a dev.
“Play how you want” means that any team setup with any set of builds should be able to finish content. The ease and comfort of the completion however, is subject to which build and team setup you’re running.
The fact that someone would honestly think that any setup should be just as effective as a full zerker team truly shows the delusions some people have to deal with.
This x10000
I like having rangers in my party, too bad most of them suck
Hm at this point I’d like to point out that I did an arah p3 in FULL pvt, literally TRIED to eat lupi kicks and STILL finished it in less than 20 minutes, which is ‘pug standard’ id say. Should we take PVT out of the game too?
I support anything that adds depth and more choice to how we can play. This game (in PVE at least) currently leans a little to far to the “dps trumps all” side of the scale.
I never want to play a trinity game again, but do find the dps meta boring and welcome anything they do to get us away from it.
People still can play how they want, the reason zerker is superior is because you put out dmg and play skillfully at the same time, instead of the tank heal mentality which is truly where ‘boring’ lies.
Some more Boss Mechanics would be nice.
1. Faster Boss attacks. So that they deal not 20k Damage every 10 seconds, but 2k Damage every Second if you are in Melee Range and the Boss hits you
This defeats the purpose of the evade function AND forces people to play in a single style, limiting the game which isn’t particularly fair, is it? Right now you can already range bosses if you feel like it.
2. Cleave attacks: If the Group stacks in a corner or in Front of a Boss, why not give him a Cleave that hits all 5 people. -> Stacking removed
These already exist, however apparently you spend all your time in AC.
3. Make some bosses have very high armour and low life points -> Conditions are good vs that Boss. -> Direkt Damage Full Berserker Builds deal not much damage
Similar to my point before, it forces you into a particular play style.
4. Make some bosses have very low armour and many life points -> Conditions are bad vs that Boss. -> Direkt Damage Builds deal much damage
Already exists
5. Give some Bosses a Retaliation Buff that reflects a percentage of the damage. Something like 10-20% maybe. If the 100-Yolo-Berserker-Warrior hits the boss for 30k Damage, he will have 3k-6k Damage reflected Back
This makes no sense. If you return a % of dmg and the boss has a certain amount of dmg, it doesnt matter how fast you do the damage it still returns. It would only turn the game into another ‘you tank i heal’ scenario where everyone is afk and complains about how boring it is.
6. Gives Boss an AoE Damage Aura -> you cant Melee him
You really don’t like melee do you? There are already bosses in the game that are challenging to melee and thats why the dodge function exists.
7. Let the Boss make a player a “bomb” that explodes and Deals AoE Damage -> prevents stacking
And this would go off if 5 people were in melee range anyway?
8. Make a Boss invulnerable to direct Attacks unless 3 Players press a switch simultanously -> Fight is more about Corrdination and not about DPS. Would also make Conditions better, which could still tick on the invulnerable boss
You have literally spent no time of your entire gw2 life in Arah, nor have you done fractals.
9. Let the Boss Mind Control 1-2 Players for 5-10 Seconds. And then let the Group have fun with not killing the classcannon Fullberserker Players while at the same time be hit really hard by the mind controlled player.
And when your healer gets mind controlled you will post to anet and cry about why they implemented such a thing right?
10. Make the Boss rooms less exploitable. If a Bossfight starts -> close doors so people cant run away. Futhermore remove Corners in that room so people cant use the infamous “stack in the corner and hit the boss while the boss is in the wall and does no damage”-strategy (Ascalon Spiderqueen cough )
Spider queen still does a lot of damage, her bite hurts and weakness drastically counters burst damage. Her circles don’t go off because you are in melee range, not because you are stacked. Stacking just allows for better cleansing and combo fields. There are already bosses who can’t be killed like this, as I said above, its evident you spend all your time in AC.
11. Give the Boss a “Rage” Mechanic. The Faster he looses Life, the faster the boss will hit, run and use skills. And the more Life a Boss has lost, the more damage he does. That combined with the Cleave Mechanic should wipe out the fullberserker glasscannon groups really fast.
Is this kittened? Intentionally trying to slow the game down? You are literally trying to work against optomization and speed clearing which is just raw stupid.
….
and im sure there are some more mechanics you could use to make life harder for berserkers.
All in all, you need to learn to play because this is a joke
In this thread:
- People who put on zerker gear and die every 3 seconds
- People who can’t use the dodge function AS INTENDED (holy **** you can EVADE an ENTIRE attack?!)
- People who can’t complete dungeons in less than 4 hours and feel bad others can do it in 4 minutes
- People who think the meta for old MMO’s should be the same for all MMO’s
Ill get to the point
Mobs hit stupidly hard, they have high health and its bug after bug after bug… permanently stuck in combat, bombs from asura blowing me through a wall… etc etc
after you get through it all, the reward is junk…
is this ever going to get fixed?
whats worse is people on free trial are looting precursers and paid customers are disconnected
→ server has limit on playres
→ invite lots of non paying customers to fill the servers
pretty awesome, once you DC thats it, you cant even get back in!
How will they manage to give everyone got crashed or dced their loots? What if was gonna get a precursor or not? This is just stupid.
yeah exactly
people are gonna miss out heaps
yeah ugh
i died and noone wanted to revive me so i went to the waypoint and my game crashed, no reward for me =(
i spent so long on it too!
