I have been looking through many posts about this because another computer in the house is having this issue. I have found NOTHING and even reinstalled EVERYTHING (even my OS). ANet have no idea what the problem is and don’t reply or if they do it is with something which clearly doesn’t work.

This has been going back into 2012 I believe and it still hasn’t been resolved so they really need to do something about it.

Good luck mate with a good response.

Thanks man – still, this information worries me (that you have reinstalled your OS). Now I’m really giving the format a second thought … I mean, it’s just so much work, so much data I need to backup .. I hope it’s not all for nothing.

I’m sad, since I’ve really not been playing a lot in the past 3 months, but just recently had my enthusiasm rekindled by the whole living story stuff and guild bounties and .. and now I can’t play -.-

Hi,
first of all, yes, I’ve read and tried the steps described in the FAQ with no result. I’ve also, on top of opening seperate ports, set myself as the DMZ host, but nothing worked…

I have noticed a small download (I think about 0,5 MB) before the launcher stopped and stayed at the said “0kB (0kB/sec)”.

The app stays responsive the whole time – as far as task manager can tell.

I had no problems running it yesterday – I did change my internet access point since then, but I think the router can be ruled out..

I’m already downloading everything I need to format my machine, but I’ll only be doing that as a last resort, because UNI, custom eclipse, virtual machine, etc. . . backing up all that crap takes a LONG time.. I’ve attached my dxdiag, if thats of any help.

Edit: I’ve also attached a cap of the state of the launcher, just to make it obvious as to what I mean.

I bet sPVP will be the last thing they implement a proper update to.

In terms of features we’ve wanted since launch.

Because PvE is where the majority of players stay atm, of course their focus will be on PvE

Well perhaps it’s the other way around – Since there is so little focus and progression in the sPvP part of the game, people stopped frequenting it.

Uhm not to be rude. but....

as well as the other female sound that sounds like high-pitched grunting of some sort, like struggling. I think you know which one I mean.

I think we all know which one you mean… And yes – it NEEDS to at least get a bit of a longer pause period.

I’d bet on that aswell… I feel they have admited to themselves that they have failed to produce a competative enviorment with launch, and perhaps setting up a revamp for the first expansion.

No one cares that you USED to subscribe to them. A-net does a crappy job communicating and this “blog” post is another example of it.

I’m feeling you’re in for a communication with a mod. Now please, if you’ll be so kind as to not have this “pubescent boy” attitude to this thread any further… I’m pretty sure you’ll get banned faster if you make your own thread.

You’re calling Blizzards paperpushers asigning devs a norm on daily blueposts and their stance on re-balancing the game in accordance to kittenness of the players that play a certain class/faction a good thing….
I won’t go into explaining why this is wrong and how it ultimately FAILED and is one of the reasons I only USED to subscribe to them.

A-net is terrible at communication. Say what you will about Blizzard at least they openly communicate with their playerbase. All you have to do is go to mmo-champion or their website directly and see the difference.

What in the hell are you trying to achieve with this post?.. get the kitten out, please.

Oh darn, I’m such a tool.. there is a blogpost up … and OP actually properly linked it.

But yeah, I agree with you Defektive:
The Specator mode was announced even before launch and was to be expected, coming from it being a pretty big part of the first game’s competative scene
Ladders have also been announced before launch, and were in the first game as well as we can find a ladder written in rock in the sPvP lobby place
But as for the matchmaking – the feature really is to be expected to accompany ladder system and thus not really a novelty aswell…

The blogpost doesn’t really fill me with hope for the competative scene though – the current payed tournament system hasn’t been mentioned and to be totally frank, only a change to an elo system and “team registry” – simmilar to other competative games – would really work in my opinion.

nothing new here, move along.

Show more enthusiam pls…
-spectator mode…coming
-ladder..coming
-matchmaking..coming

We just need more patience…

Did we watch the same video? Where exactly does Colin speak of any of the things you mentioned?
And no, the blog post isn’t up yet – at least not somewhere I could find.

In the video what colin actually says about the PvP:
“And finally we’ll be expanding on the PvP systems, add more functionality that both the more casual players are looking for – so it feels more rewarding and there’s a stronger sence of progression in PvP – and for the competative gamers the tools that they need that allow themselves to grow as a competative community.”

And that is very vague, so to speak, not at all confirming any of the features you felt were announced through the video.

A question for the "pros"

I’ve never played DAoC, but have played GW1 pvp quite competatively (GvGs and HA mostly) and it too was far more complex than the sPvP is in GW2… but it’s unfair to compare the two, since the GW1s class system is closer to a competative trading card game than to a classic RPG …

All that aside, I do feel disapointed in the sPvP … not only in the lack of a competative scene or the still missing spectator mode and all other features that are necessary for the scene to evolve – i’m not pleased even with the gameplay, gamemode and the maps themselves – and I’m really not the “one whiner in the group”, but quite the opposite, I’m the most involved and interested in competative PvP from my guild and my group of friends, who have most stopped even caring for it.

I feel sad for that, and I’m really hoping that Anet are involved in the discussions of changing their philosophy about the sPvP part of the game… I understand that it would be a bad thing to even talk about it or announcing some changes, when people are already involved in the preparation for the big tournaments noone really knows are even going to happen… but considering so many people are unsatisfied and the sPvP competative scene is currently non-existant (or should I say un-existable?) only minor improvements wont do.

I got a bit carried away… here’s my beef with op:
What I think OP wants to point out and in turn propose is that “the game needs more gimmicks” .. which I can easily relate to, but I don’t see that as a solution to the problem of it not being fun to play.
