The story instance and the view of the map felt right. The mastery points are good. There are very easy ones and there are hard ones too. They felt like the title based mastery points, but in the open world. Especially thanks for the portal mastery. As a GW1 veteran it felt nostalgic Besides, the Hell’s Kitchen mastery is a bit hard The fight felt good too. Sometimes I went down quickly (because of my own arrogance), sometimes I could tank three hydra and their heads! Oh, the heads It was really fun. The raptor felt good, the animations are wonderful and the jumping capability is very useful too. It will opt out the staff and retreat on my guardian in pve very quickly. No other opinion from me about the mounts, because I only saw one.
Oh, almost forgot! The music was fantastic!

Privateer Greatsword - best GW skin

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rinn.2375

At first, I used the regular GS skin. It’s relatively small and good for almost every armor. Some times later i found the GS from the Ascalon Catacombs and it was my go to GS skin for a very long time.
Then the Chaos GS has arrived to the store and it was a love at first sight I think there is no other GS skin which is in par with this one.
Except one My main character’s name is Vérpenge (or Bloodblade in English), so when the Bloodstone GS has arrived it was a no-brainer for me
TL;DR: I think there are more than a few good GS skins.

I remember the time, when they put in the /wings emote in GW1. There are endless wing-parties in the big cities (mostly Spamadan )… for a few days. Guess what, two months later rarely see anyone to use that emote.

Lily of the Elon Permanent Pass?

Think about the dailies. There are some Orr lumberer, vista viewer, etc. You can do it rather quickly without paying any “teleport fee”.

The fee for teleportation is so low, it certainly is no pro argument for purchasing the VIP ticket. Porting only once and paying 2 silver gives me more value than porting twice without additional costs.

Is it a laziness competition? I hate the world map and I avoid it as long as I can. I use teleport stones, scrolls, portals, glide, anything to avoid bringing up the map and use those magic pebbles. It’s not immersive to me at all. So, it was a nobrainer for me to buy the pass.
We shouldn’t compare playstyles I think. It’s an endless argument.

Lily of the Elon Permanent Pass?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rinn.2375

In my opinion Royal Terrace pass beats every other pass currently in game, because it has the shortest distance between TP – bank – mystic forge. Royal Terrace has the least amount of walking between those 3 points.

Besides, Royal Terrace was released in GW2 core game, not HoT or PoF, and is located in Divinity Reach, providing a chance to meet more people than other locations.

Compared to other special passes it does not offer features like low gravity, but it gets the job done fast and efficient.

The Captain’s Airship pass has an easy access to Orr too. You can jump out of the ship and glide down to the Vigil keep to enter the portal to Fort Trinity. I have access for all the restricted areas and I think this is the best option for a PvE’r. Think about the dailies. There are some Orr lumberer, vista viewer, etc. You can do it rather quickly without paying any “teleport fee”.

Hey look News update for WvW.

Ok, maybe it’s time to one of the wvw noobs talk about wvw and the first impression he got. I am a PvE player who hate every kind of PvP. I am really hate it in the last 5 years, but I joined the big fight because I want two Gift of Battles and some Ascalonian Tears too. I don’t have to say for what reason I reckon
So there was the time I traveled to one of the wvw maps and I didn’t have a kittened clue what the kitten I had to do to get that kittened Gifts. There were the map chat ofc, but a greenhorn most likely shut up when two commanders and the scouts are talking about whoknowwhat
No mentor in wvw, so I checked the LFG (as a pve’r it’s a reflex nowdays) for a kind group to learn about this fight, but nothing I found ofc.
I ended up joining a squad and run in a middle of a big group (now I know this was a “zerg”) and I think I just learnt the most boring and braindead way to play this gamemode.
Fortunately I found some kind people to show me the tricks, and learnt so much from this forum too. Now I kinda like this fight, but if I had the tool to find them more easily…
TL;DR I think, the LFG system update is a huge step forward and I really mean it.

Feedback Thread: Summer Update (26 July 2016)

Rinn.2375

My lists
3 pros:
- Salvage all fine, masterwork and rare is the top feature, me think.
- Glider skills is the second. It’s a new mechanic and I looking forward to they spread the feature to the other areas.
- The third is the new PvE content. I know it seems a bit short, but the previous seasons doesn’t have a full area in every single chapter neither.
3 cons:
- Guardians Spirit weapons are still useless
- Guardians Spirit weapons are still useless
- Guardians Spirit weapons are still useless

My (very) shortened list:
- PvE/PvP skill splits
- Gliding puzzles
- More and relevant underwater content. I recon they think about a new mastery line too if it’s on the table. Streamswimming for faster movement, dolphineye for reduce the fog or whatever.
- More mastery points for central Tyria.
- More “random” content like the bounties in Current Event
- Achievements for helping rookies
- New Elite specializations. I like to see a paragon guardian with a spear

Mace - Faithful Strike

Not to sound too pessimistic but Josh said they’ll look into mace, which is on their list of investigation.
Although chances are there, there is no guarantee that other areas of the Guardian will see a revamp/buff.

I’m with you, Nero. I’m a bit skeptical about this too and I can’t have any strength to be optimistic. As I see they’ll nerf the mace to even more useless.
Maybe we have to start to use the environmental weapons instead.

Crafting is a huge gold sink. It meant to be like this. Do you have an idea what could replace it?

Any intelligent person will only level the expensive professions on a single character. What OP suggested is really just the QoL that you don’t have to switch characters to craft your stuff.

Since people also use crafting to level their characters, how about adding a dialogue to the master craftsmen that allows your character to learn all your account’s recipes?

I know, I did them on one toon too, but there are situations when it is a good thing. Like in the leveling of a new toon as you mentioned it. Lot of BL key farmer will angry about a change like this

They can bind them to a mastery line if they want The system is in place for this I think and it’s account bound already.

Potential new races to play as

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rinn.2375

Rinn.2375

I only counted Act I steps. The are 5 races, two major choices for each race, and several times in each ‘path’ offering a choice of column A vs column B, for a total of 22 new instanced ‘stories’.

But if you want to call it “6 or 7,” no problem — all the other changes still need to happen.

the tl;dr remains the same: it’s very costly to add a new race to GW2.

Oh, I see, but your math is still off a bit, because the first PSS is the same in the Act I. For example, The Wild Hunt is the first step if you choose the Norn race no matter what. So it’s 19 after all They did 16 much more complex story steps for HoT.
I think it’s doable to add a new race to the next expansion.

Edit: minor issue whit the quoting system

Potential new races to play as

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rinn.2375

Rinn.2375

I want to play as an ascalonian ghost. It would be lovely in a full radiant armor and Chaos Glowes At least a tonic would be cool.
My second choice is an aquatic race, but not the quaggans or skrits. Something else. Surprise me Anet Maybe a race created by a watery[sic] elder dragon, or something. I don’t know, I’m not a designer after all

Edit:

Been asked since release, nothing ever gets added, i wouldn’t hold your breath op.

It’s very expensive to add a new race compared to adding a new profession or new zones. ANet would have to add:

  • 22 new personal stories.
  • Update all other personal stories based on changes that races have on the dialogue.
  • A new home city (and, in theory, at least one new ‘home’ zone, comparable to Queensdale).
  • Create new race-specific dialogue for a variety of situations.
  • Hire voice actors for all the personal stories, LS2, HoT story, and skill/idle remarks, plus be prepared to rehire them all for LS3 and beyond.
  • Create nine sets of new cultural armor.
  • Update various achievements (or add new ones), for which race matters.
  • Update every single armor in the game to work with the new race.
  • Probably two dozen other things that other folks will think of off the top of their head, not to mention dozens of other things we don’t even know about.

tl;dr there’s a reason that ANet isn’t likely to deliver a new race, short of making them the focus of an expansion.

They have to add 6 or 7 new personal story steps only. After the Act II is started it doesn’t matter a lot which species the player come from.

I recon this is a bit bigger problem. The game become easier each update and the valued skins become less important. In the beginning there were a meaning behind that you have a legendary or two. Now the new stuff are obtainable relatively short period of time, there is no real challenge about it. I saw a player with an Ad infinitum backpack just two days after it’s patch. It’s frustrating because there is not a single elite set/skin in this game. We have crazily priced ones, but not a single skin which you look at and think: “that guy is know something to get it”

All classes should be able to face roll hot, the whole map not just some.

If they make it easier that much it will be boring like the starting areas. They launched HoT for HC gamers and they “loved” it. Then reduced the difficulty level to the casuals and I think they’ll reduce the difficulty level when the next expansion comes. I think this is the roadmap here.

What's the point of 1 shared inventory slot?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rinn.2375

Rinn.2375

I think that Anet has a problem understanding the scale of some things. At the moment they are selling a single shared inventory slot in the gemstore for 700 gems. What am I going to do with one shared inventory slot? Moving stuff between characters is a wholesale process:

- Ascended armor pieces (6)
- Ascended trinkets (6)
- Ascended weapons on some cases (1-6)
- Gathering tools (3)
- Salvage kit (1)
- Food and oils (2)
- Siege weapons (2+)

When I’m moving stuff between characters I need to swap all of that and I need a good amount of bank space for it. That means I won’t buy your 700 gem shared inventory slot ever, but I might consider buying 700 gem shared 20 bag slot. Get it right or you keep losing business.

You can’t put armor, trinket or weapon in it if it’s soulbound.

It’s true. I am a casual player. Casual of the casuals as a matter of fact. I lost interest quickly in HoT because I died so many times. Now, I can manage in HoT with my guardian and easily finished Verdant Brinks map. Achievements and all. Even unlocking the masteries is a lot easier now (from 22 to 33 within a day with casual, not HC play), so I don’t know what is the problem with the difficulty level of the HoT content.
I think it’s good now. A bit harder than the “Prophecies” and a lot easier than the old HoT

I have few alts that I parked next to a world boss’ or jumping puzzle chest and aside of the armors and weapons I can fetch the loot every single day now from these toons. Even the armors and weapons can be salvaged, ‘couse I can give the toon a proper salvage kit now.
This upgrade has a huge impact on everything I think. It’s almost game changing.

Time for a 64bit client or no point

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rinn.2375

Rinn.2375

Changing the client means changing the servers too. It’ll not happen if they can fix/patch the problem other ways. It’s not cheap and a schedule nightmare to do it with a live 24/7 service. GW2 works like a medical solution. 24/7, 99.9% serviceability/month. And that is the minimum , trust me
Also they can’t just switch to 64bit just like turning a switch, they have to support 32bit clients after that too. So they have to solve the issues anyway and the cheapest way is to scrap the 64bit client idea and concentrate on the 32bit.
I think they doing a good job with fixes. I know lot of mmo’s with much greater problems but no fixes/patches for months.

It’s cheap, but I think it’s intended. I think the Mentor system is not for lead the big events, but “lead”/tutor/mentor/organize the new players with free accounts who have no chance to get the Mentor badge. The “full accounts”[sic] know that it’s cheap and they’ll follow the Commander.
It just helps when there is no commander. I saw it in the Labyrinth multiple times.
