Many players will find this topic uneccesary, irrelevant, or a threat to your income because you make a ton selling precursors you are lucky enough to forge but I don’t care. I have been playing GW2 since early access (I was in beta too, but that doesn’t count) and I have forged 1000s of weapons, done countless dungeons, WvW, and events without a single precursor drop.

I feel like my account has a hex on it, some quirk in the coding that prevents nice things from being added to my loot table and I’m tired of it. It’s time to end the nonsensical RNG where legendary precursors are concerned.

People keep saying, “changing prices won’t change anything.”

It will change it some. I know of guilds that did not transfer to GoM (when we were in T8) because it was still 1800 gems.

It is a step in the right direction.

So many of these responses are “Don’t do that, instead do something DRASTIC AND COMPLICATED.” Please don’t ruin this for the rest of us because you want something you can’t have. This is something that we CAN have, and it WILL help some.

You know those guilds wanted to transfer for wvw. And you know wvw population on GOM is low. But how does ANET know? They want high transfer price on high populated servers because they need to load balance their servers. So they increase the price to discourage people from going to those servers, like GOM. So how can they create transfer pricing for low wvw population?

WvW rank is a clear indication of WvW population. If you think anything more than coverage and numbers decides the matches 99% of the time you’re fooling yourself.

The high transfer price on high servers is not necessarily because the server needs, but more likely for $$$$$$ reasons.

If you are reading the forum Devon last night asked us if we based price on WvW populations how do we think it would make sense, and that’s what we’re discussing.

So I had a little idea for commander tags that I thought is a pretty cool and useful idea.

When I go into WvW I’ll open up the map and see what tags are up and hover over their tag to see who it is. I thought it’d be pretty cool if by doing so, it not only shows the name, but the guild they are representing too so people can see and start to recognise what guilds certain commanders are from. Just a small, quick and simple idea that I thought would be cool.

So, if prices for server transfers were based on WvW population, what would a fair distribution of costs look like from the lowest population servers to the highest? Keep in mind that making it completely impossible to transfer to a server puts a burden on other players. That doesn’t mean that you couldn’t have an incredibly high price, just that completely blocked isn’t an option.

Price is not alone the issue. There should be an added incentive for destacking and a risk for bandwagoning on top of price.

I propose a model such as

1-3 – 2400 gems w/probation period
4-6 – 2100 gems
7-9 – 1800 gems
10-12 – 1500 gems
13-15 – 1200 gems w/300 gem rebate
16-18 – 900 gems w/600 gem rebate
19-21 – 600 gems w/900 gem rebate
22-24 – 300 gems w/1200 gem rebate

Rebates – to qualify for rebate you must:
—be transferring “down” at least 1 tier
—account must be at least 90 days old
—have not received any rebates in the past 90 days
If you meet these conditions, upon successful transfer you will receive your gem rebate to spend in the gem store or convert to gold, as you wish.

Probation – tier 1 only
—new transfers for tier 1 will receive a probation status for 30 days, which adds a 1 hour per-map playtime limit at which point you must re-enter the queue.
—duration probation period commander squad functionality is disabled.
—during probation period a player may “undo” the transfer if they are not happy with tier 1, in which case they will receive a 50% refund on their gems and be placed on their previous server.
—probation period does not apply if you are transferring from a tier 1 server to a different tier 1 server, only to those transferring ‘into’ tier 1.

Your entire argument is stemming from the selfish standpoint of what benefits YOUR server (YB) and maybe a few more in your situation. You’re basically wailing and gnashing your teeth over the removal of imbalanced matches where YOU are the dominating server, while glossing over the great benefits of those who will no longer be subject to YOUR server lording it over them.

Actually, YB is in the middle of silver league, so I have no idea why you’re trying to accuse me of this. You might have a point if I were on NSP, IoJ, or CD. Those are the servers in silver league that are getting the short end of the stick. YB is in a better position than most, as far as getting a mixture of reasonable matchups, matches where we get stomped, and matches we can easily win.

I certainly don’t want to “rolfstomp” servers like ET and SF. But the leagues will be giving plenty of that for the servers on the bottom of each league. There is a huge difference in an easy win and a total decimation like what we have this week. Servers like NSP will have nothing but defeats and decimations to look forward to, where they could at least have some wins if they weren’t cut off from others like Kain or HoD.

My argument is for servers that are being given no chance to win at all, and has nothing to do with my own server’s position, as we are in a fairly decent one. Under no circumstances should a server ever face one 6+ ranks away from them, nor should they ever be locked out of facing one 2 ranks lower while being locked in with servers 6 ranks higher. Leagues are keeping the former, and even forcing it unnaturally for many, while totally preventing the latter from ever happening for servers at the bottom of each league.

…absolutely fantastic. The amount of dedication, passion and soul put into this game is without parallel to anything available in the industry right now. ArenaNet is still pumping out updates, listening to community feedback and making lots of positive changes that have really done a great job in improving the game.

Even the gem store has managed to stay consumer friendly and unimposing. If mistakes are made, the staff have no quarrel rectifying it in quick order. Just wanted to say how pleased I am with the direction Guild Wars 2 continues to take. Keep up the amazing work.

A hell of a lot more then half. Between FC Olympic track team and Dh hiveminded drones this match up is bad bad bad. I’ve stop bothering to record the last few day simply because it feels like cod5 combat training in godmode.

If this is what weeks are going to be like when the season starts in the bronze league.. I am going to miss the CD/SBI/Ioj trains… This week has been garbage.

I’m sorry if I hurt anyone’s efeelings. But these bottom of the barrel servers in wvw should have the plug pulled.

New option when entering WvW: Join another server as a Mercenary.

What it would do: Instantly sends you to join a random Outmanned map on a server that is not in your current match-up, with limitations. You would not count against their outmanned limit, but you would count towards the mercenary cap. You would appear as “THEIR_SERVER_NAME Mercenary.”

Why it should be added:
1. It gives people a “hot-join” option to find a WvW fight, even when they can’t find it on their own server.
2. It gives people something to do when they can’t get on their own maps… or there is no one to fight on their own maps… or there is no one to fight with on their own maps.
3. It allows people to experience what WvW is like in other tiers.
4. It brings a small measure of balance to unbalanced fights by putting some extra people on unbalanced maps. Instead of just 8 people on the whole map, it might be 18 or 23, hopefully enough to get something done.

How it would be limited:
1. Number of mercs would be limited per map.
2. If the map fills to capacity, mercenaries will start being kicked out.
3. You would not be able to map-travel to other maps other than the one you joined on.
4. A time limit.
5. The option to join another server would have the same cooldown as the time limit. This would prevent people from hitting the join button over and over to try and get on a specific server. It would encourage people to play on whichever server they are randomly assigned to.
6. Prohibited from placing siege, buying upgrades while being a Mercenary.
7. You would not be able to be assigned to another server in your match-up.
8. Mercenary Commanders would have a different tag to differentiate them from regular commanders.

Why would people want to do this?
1. Have fun and gain wxp even when your server is in a horrible match-up.
2. Help the underdogs.
3. Outmanned Buff.
4. Easy way to find active people to fight and find people to fight with.
5. Meet new people and kill them.
6. The best part: A brand new Queue that you can Queue in!

If you don’t like it then don’t craft it. Period. It’s not that hard. Some people like it and some don’t. You don’t have to have it. that goes for all petty gripes. Mystic Forge, Gem Store, Tequatl, Living Story, Dungeons…
Just do something else and enjoy yourself and the non-subscription based game. If you can’t do that then play a different game and stop ruining every new change by throwing in your negative 2 cents.

Lets make things interesting. Add a new WvW talent where you can turn enemy yaks into “Trap Yaks”. You would have to take the Yak down to set the trap and you can’t do it to your own. After the trap is set, the Yak will finish his path as normal. Once in the fort, the trap springs and you have a fun time.

How to counter these Yaks will be up to the community. I propose to see if a Yak is trapped, you must have someone inspect it, and if it is, the Yak turns hostile till hostiles players leave the area.

What the traps do can vary and be dependent on, again, what the community wants. I suggest:


“Explosive Yak” – Deals damage to certain things within a fortification. (What it damages can be what is decided on. Wall/Gate damage, Siege, and even Supplies if so)

“Shadow Yak” – This clever Yak will take it right from under their noses! (Again, depends on what you guys would want. Could steal supplies or destroy the supplies. Stealing them would probably require something else to be done afterwards, maybe.)

“Plague Yak” – This Yak will die within the enemy walls, allowing it to pass on the sickness to those within. (Debuff and/or straight damage to anyone in the walls for a period of time.)

“Experimental Yak” – Will momentarily allow those outside to enter the fortifications, ally or not. (This one I would need to have some sort of hold back on it. Like maybe a 5min charge time once it is inside, to allow people to counter it and not make it OP. Could also limit the amount of people that can travel through it before it dispereses. Allowing the enemy to waste it to counter. Dunno, just an idea)

“Hydrogen Bomb Yak” – Kills everything within the walls with a new experimental explosive! (This is a joke. I just wanted to add it to the list for kittens and gigs, so don’t get worked up about it.)

Would actually force people to defend their keeps and Yaks, two birds with one stone! Would also add a whole new dynamic to WvW and give more incentive to split up to both counter and control Yaks, something that doesn’t really happen. Not only would it increase the drive to do such things, it sure would be fun. The amount of WvW ranks per slot and acquisition list would be up to you guys.


What do you think? Lets not be all “AIN’T GONNA BE NO CHANGING MY WVW YOU DIRT EATING PICKLE RHINO!” Try to be a bit open minded here guys, and please be sure to read everything before getting kitten like “HYDRO BOMB IS kittenING STUPID!” Um, you didn’t read the entire post then

I don’t think any Servers are FULL right now.

They generally increase caps when they have Trial Weekends so that is probably what we are seeing here.

It’s not helping population/coverage balances in any way but so long as PvE and WvW Servers are linked it is what it is.

Honestly an easier solution for ANet is to simply lower WvW Map Caps. 6 Hour Queues for WvW should do a nice job of getting people to migrate off

(not to mention reductions in Skill Lag and general Server performance)

I don’t go into EB too often but every time but once I have this week I’ve gotten lag dropped within 5 minutes. That time I lasted about half an hour with stuttering 10 second spikes the whole time.

We haven’t had AR for a while but it is nice to see them rebounding from where they were. A couple guilds I don’t recall from last time have been making an impact and a couple sPvP groups that I’d not seen in WvW before have surfaced. Seems you guys still have a ways to go but the progress is there.

While we’ve seen a bit of ET recently, it hasn’t been without a dominating force hanging over our heads (IoJ/KN) so this is a little different. ET as a whole seems much more organized especially defensively. Their BL is no longer just a bunch of paper towers waiting to be taken – they’ve got upgrades and frequently ready siege and I frequently see camps with upgraded supply output and defenders reacting quickly. I think they’re doing the best organization wise of any server in this match up by far but I’ve seen a lot of inexperienced players who aren’t used to the new order and the coverage still is spotty.

Hopefully with a couple more weeks of practice ET will be competitive in the bronze league. If so, I think bronze might be the most balanced league of the three.

BUT…

What am I supposed to do when I get rolled by the enemy GvG team that’s supposedly in WvW “just for the fights”?? When the enemy GvG team is flipping our camps & towers even thought they here “just for the fights”??

You see the problem it presents. On one hand you want to be left alone to “have good fights” so then you should only be running through a BL to your fight club location and leaving everything and everyone else alone.

That rarely happens.

GvG players think the World vs World game should revolve around them, So any changes that might affect them shouldn’t go in.

Its almost as kittenPvP having an affect on Balance in World vs World.

Either way, They’d probably get more support if GvG wasn’t an unwatchable mess that random people who didn’t play the game could distinguish between just zerging vs actually playing for skill

Said it before, Until GvG players grow balls and drop down to 10 vs 10 so actual skill can be displayed, They’ll forever be disregarded in balancing of WvW features.

Well I can try to answer the question as diplomatically as possible and hopefully not ruffle too many feathers. I do not GvG, our guild is a tiny, family guild. Although it does not bother me too much one way or the other I can foresee that it might in the future.

Think about the dynamics of WvW as they currently are. You are doing your best to protect what is yours and to gain points for your server and one of the larger guilds decides that they want to GvG. While that fight is going on, even if it is tucked away in some forgotten corner of the map, you can forget about asking those people for any assistance in defending a keep for example. They are on the map, may very well have a Commander tag up, but they are not involved in WvW, they are involved in GvG. At this point in time they are not playing the same game with the same goals as the rest of the people on the map. If it is one of your larger guilds then they not only are hurting you at that point by not helping, they also count against your map cap and could prevent you from bringing in people from another map to assist.

Secondly, if there is a GvG match going on on the map I am on how do I know it is GvG? If I happen to see red and to me red is dead, is it fair for me to be called out by my own teammates for playing the game as a WvW’er and not a GvG’er?

Going forward, once the leagues are active I can see this division between those that are serious about WvW and those that want to GvG becoming worse as there will be more incentive to gain as many points per tick in WvW as possible. Will it be fair that all players in WvW share in the reward should they win when all “Guild X” did was particpate in GvG while their teammates do all the heavy lifting?

If the GvG goals were the same as the WvW goals then it would not matter one way or the other but currently such is not the case. They are, while a GvG fight is going on, diametrically opposite of each other. Like oil and water they just do not mix. At this point the only thing that would help is a separate map for those that wish to GvG but at the point it becomes another game in itself such as WvW, sPvP and PvE are now.

So hopefully that helps you understand why many people may harbor hostility against those that just want to GvG.

Reasoning behind player anti GvG comments?

Thought I may as well start this thread on this forum as this is where it will end up.

I do wonder why some players are so anti the GvG player community. As far as I can make out, the only reasons to have an issue with GvG are as follows:-

1) Thoughtlessness (ie a Guild being stupid enough to arrange a GvG in its own BL)
1i) Thoughtlessness, doing a GvG on reset night on a server that actually gives a crap about PPT.
2) High handed manner (ie ‘Get off this map you random scrubs we are doing GvG here and its much more important than your pathetic PPT play you worms’) genuinely never experienced anything like that ever happening (prob because I am on an EU server) tho I do recall thinking RG were mostly a bunch of kittens when they passed through my server on their grand tour.

That’s about all I can think of reasons for people to be anti GvG crowd that could lie at the blame of GvG players

So assuming that most GvG players do not do any of the above I guess I have to look at what could be the reasons by the anti GvG players themselves. As I am not anti GvG I may need a hand here…

1.) Possibly they are part of the pug blobs and upset about being wiped by much smaller organised Guild groups so they (not unreasonably) assume these are the guys that are also regularly doing GvG. So its a possible spite/payback thing?
2.) I do not see a credible PPT argument against GvG unless the Guilds in question are doing 1 or 1.i above and then surely its a discussion rather than scorched earth policy on the activity?

That’s all I got unless anyone else can come up with credible reasons.

Yes I know I am effectively saying that all the GvG hate is being caused by a couple of thoughtless idiots amongst those who do it and a few spiteful scrubs who would rather change what others do than get better themselves. I am making this thread because that’s not what I want to think so am hoping to get some other views.

Devs why don’t you create a stupid map with some trees and a flat ground, or just copy the place where ppl do gvg.
Put a sort of queue for guild, or maybe make it an istance of 25 ppl that get in with commander.
Give no rewards for killing andfor the winner.
And make happy this GvG ppl that cry all the time because they don’t want to do wvw.

Than if a lot of ppl play that you can work on it, but pls bring those gvg ppl out of wvw, like you did with ethernal jp.
