Tribal and Marauder sets can’t be fully acquired anymore.

They must add them back.

Romance Repetition

Heterosexuality may be mainstream and the norm in real life but who knows what sexuality is like in Tyria? Everybody could be aggressively bisexual so having a lot of homosexual relationships wouldn’t really be seen as uncommon.

Also, heterosexuality is already well represented in the media so why does it matter that this game chooses to have two homosexual relationships? Although, I would agree with the other user who said the Caithe/Faolain relationship is more in the background.

That being said I do agree with some of the other users that the whole romance subplot was handled a little sloppily but I expect that was due to time constraints mostly.

I much prefer Peneloopee and Bloomanoo as a romantic subplot though

Hey OP, since we all feel the need to elaborate our sexual orientation beforehand, I’m gonna do the same, I’m a hetero female in a relationship for a long time now and I have no problems investing myself in homosexual relationship like Kasmeer and Majory because they reflect real life and real world feelings of how two people act around their loved ones, especially in dire situations.

That being said I don’t need a hetero romance in the spotlight to relate myself to – i see them as people foremost, and characters. As such I tend to avoid using words “lesbian” or “gay”, but I know a kittenton of people wouldn’t agree with me.

Anyway that’s how I see it. Try to give it a shot :P

Improvement to quaggan tonics

I absolutely love the quaggan tonics that have appeared with this patch, and I like to spend as much time as possible turned into such an adorable creature. The only problem is that as a quaggan I can’t jump That makes it difficult for me to move around, so wouldn’t it be an awesome change if the possibility of jumping as a quaggan would be added?

To Taimi's Creators

To the devs who worked on Taimi, who wrote her and created and animated her model:

I want to thank you for Taimi. I live with multiple sclerosis, and while I was only diagnosed a handful of years ago and am looking forward to a future where I won’t be trapped in my own body, I value characters like Taimi more than you can know.

My greatest trouble spots are my legs, specifically the joints in my hips and knees. There are days that I wake up and I can’t get out of bed. I’m young (in my 20s) and I walk with a cane and have a handicapped tag for my car – and I get nasty looks from people all the time because I’m young and, clearly, I shouldn’t need a cane or a handicapped space. I’ll never forget the day a pregnant woman berated me outside a grocery store for taking the handicapped space she wanted.

When I play games, it’s usually as an escape. I like to imagine that I’m the perfectly healthy Commander Shepard, or some outrageously good looking Final Fantasy character on a quest to save the world with magic. Games take me out of my situation and, for a little while, allow me to be someone else. Maybe this is why I play a hyper-mobile d/d Elementalist.

But when you introduced Taimi, I was overjoyed. I didn’t play the Marionette weapon testing update, so I didn’t see Taimi until just recently when I was mucking around the refugee camp in Gendarran. The friend I was playing with pointed her out, and I think I shrieked loud enough to wake the dead.

I don’t know where you’re going with Taimi. But honestly I don’t care. Because now, in Tyria, I can imagine having a giant golem cart me around when I can’t feel my legs or when they hurt too badly to walk. Now when I get derisive or pitying looks, I can take a minute to imagine I’m sitting on a golem’s shoulder like a complete kitten.

So thank you for thinking of people like me. Thank you for thinking about how someone with a disability might get along in your world. And thank you for making her awesome.

Christina

PS Since I’m incapable of fanart of any kind to show my appreciation, I bake. If your office would like to receive a tupperware full of cookies, I’d like to bake them for you as a thank you.

Lmao you know they got to have a holiday around Christmas right? The extra 2 months could very easily have been spent working on OTHER things that we haven’t seen yet…

The daily is there to encourage people to keep playing those two bosses so that there are enough players to do them…

TTS has killed the Wurm!!!

in The Origins of Madness

AcidicVision.5498

I think you might be expecting a bit much from all of nearly 6000 individual users that participate with TTS and comment about it on forums, twitter, reddit, youtube and where-ever else.

Would a separation help alleviate confusion? Yes. Is it realistic to expect or enforce on this scale? No.

Especially because of the casual medium we are communicating with. It is more common for a person to use “we” when they have participated in something with a group of people than “they and I”. But just because “we” was used, doesn’t mean that the person saying it represents the views or opinions of everyone else. In fact, when you are looking at a group in the thousands and one person uses “we” in a way that is representative of that group, that should automatically raise a red flag because of the very broad generalization.

At some point you, as a reader, need to be responsibly critical of the content. We are pretty conditioned to ask for verification or sources when we have a question about something. So when one person appears to be speaking for thousands, of different ages, spread out across different servers, in different countries, the responsible question to ask them is if they can verify they have the authority to speak for that body. They will say yes and provide some verification, if they cant, then assume its a grain of salt until clarified.

If you read a controversial opinion on the WvW forums and a person talking about their server says “we”, with regard to all of their WvW players, do you just assume that person has authority to represent every single person on that server? Do you judge that server now, in it’s entirety, based on that insinuated relationship? Or do you chalk it up to lazy grammar?

The onus is as much on the reader as it is on the writer for conclusions drawn from something read on the internet.

I get the feeling Rox will earn her warband membership, decide Braham is a lot more fun (or be wooed by his puppy dog eyes), and go off on adventures with him instead, turning Rytlock down at the last minute. Classic ‘the grass isn’t always greener on the other side’ character arc, potentially!

EDIT: I don’t think an interracial pairing is on the cards, no matter what the fans say xD Platonic relationships can be just as fun, and male/female characters don’t get them that often since romance tends to pop up by default in those dynamics.

TTS Kills Wurm for Second Time Back To Back

in The Origins of Madness

All that has to be done is play the normal way…

This is incorrect and makes many assumptions. This bug has happened several times to groups while they are playing as normal as possible. It moves, the zerg follows, it moves. And if some conditions are right a bug can be triggered.

If it looks like things are going a way that might trigger the bug do you think everyone should just stop and wait for the wurm to move again? No one is going to do that because of the time constraints.

Can conditions be manipulated to make it more likely? Im sure they can. But it’s also very very possible to just have the wurm randomly get itself into that state without intentional influence of the group there. Thats how this whole thing started to begin with. The wurm did something random and it became a rumor, then it did it again and there was a theory, then the exact conditions were discovered to reproduce and it was proven and pretty much immediately after that it was being fixed.

It is really off base to say all of the communities that have beaten the wurm so far knew full well about the bug and went out of their way to take advantage of it.

Where is the Karma at?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

Activities is a good way to get karma, especially the shorter ones like Sanctum Sprint or Crab Toss. You get 600 for a loss, and 1000 for a win.

Doing Tequatl is also a good way to get karma, provided you can get into a good overflow. A successful kill gives you 10,000 karma, not counting the karma you get from the events during it.

Combine Join and Invite into one function

Join doesn’t work if a player is alone.

Invite doesn’t work if the player is in a party.

How hard would it be to make the game check and then perform the other action.

Get rid of the split functionality and combine them both into one “join” button.

Example…. I want to be in a party with my friend.

I join on him…. and regardless of if he has a party or not, he gets my invite, and we live happily ever after.

We Do Not Like Scarlet Briar

Hopefully this thread maintains the constructive criticism these forums require and not be deleted.

I really enjoy this game for a lot of reasons, from dodge rolling to WvW. The world was rich an immerse the moment I stepped foot into it. Once I caught up on the lore by playing Guild Wars 1, I really appreciated the story.

Then a weed named Scarlet was introduced. Sure, she felt a bit wacky, but I was okay with it at first. Then she started cropping up in everything, and it began to feel forced and unoriginal.

Now she is behind the Thaumanova Reactor and there are aether-looking items around the world with a sign saying “DO NOT TOUCH” (clearly of Scarlet design), and I’m just done.

Zommoros: Genie or Djinn?

in Lore

Posted by: Mistro.3059

Mistro.3059

The Genie spelling also seems to come from Genius, the Roman version of Jinii, which is technically the same thing as a Djinn.

Essentially they are a creature that is not human, but also neither demon nor angel. They can be any alignment, and are also somewhat like the Shinto idea behind Kami/Yokai, that basically it is a spirit that embodies anything.

I think most people would agree that he is the mystical genie of the toilet, and he is a cruel entity that feasts upon your tears.
