We’re still looking into this.
This was 5 months ago, a new expansion is coming out soon…who knows if this will ever get fixed
After re-installing OS X Mavericks (fresh install, no application restore); the GW2 client has been pretty solid except during heavy WvW fights (large number of players). I notice the client starts to slow down and then it just stops with the same error message.
Anyone else having this same issue and know how to fix it?
Thanks!
P.S. I’ve tried fixing the client using the instructions in the sticky posts, but I don’t think it does anything. Also, when I boot to BootCamp, the game plays flawlessly on the same hardware, so I know it’s this Mac client (a.k.a. client wrapper).

Okay, so after 6 days working with tech support, they were able to give me a suggestion.
I had to create a new account in my iMac and then I re-installed the client and it actually worked!
For some reason, something was corrupt in my old user account profile, so after creating a new account, the game is now installed.
@Wayne – I actually use AppDelete to remove it and it actually cleans it completely.
@Michael – I’m going to try your suggestion and wait 15 minutes.
Luckily I can still play it using BootCamp though.
Very annoyed how forum support for the Mac client is nearly non-existent from ANet employees. In my opinion, if they knew they couldn’t come up with a native client, they shouldn’t have come up with a Windows emulated client…just sucks.
I don’t play it on a MacBook Pro, but I used to play it on my late 2011 iMac using BootCamp and it plays great! No lag, no random crashes, etc. It’s very well worth the fact that you have to boot into Windows.
Yes, it was a clean install back to Mavericks.
The Application Support folder for Gw2 never gets created during the first part of the install (the one screenshot I posted).
After many clients crashes, and none of the FAQ posts helping, I decided to reload Mavericks and also to reload GW2.
The installation of Mavericks worked fine. I downloaded a new client OS X installation file (Gw2Setup.dmg) and here’s what happens. I’m able to run the initial setup; which basically puts an an icon my Applications folder. I double click on the Guild Wars 2 icon and nothing happens…
Am I missing something to get the client re-installed?
It appears that every time I’m in WvW, and there’s a lot of action going on the game crashes.
The issue happens when there are large battles going on and I happen to be somewhere close in the middle of the action, if I stay way in the back (less graphics, etc) then Mac client keeps on going just fine.
Also, any ideas if we’ll ever get a native OS X client? Not a Windows emulated game that uses Wine (a.k.a. transgaming)
The better question would be, when are we getting a NATIVE gw2 client – not a windows client emulated using Wine (a.k.a. Transmaging).
It looks like NCSOFT isn’t committed to developing a native gw2 client for the Mac.
This emulated crap that they got going on isn’t working out well for many of us!
