Dog Biscuits [DOG] – Stormbluff Isle
Self-Proclaimed King of Orr – “It’s MY Island”
When HoT was first introduced, the Oasis event proved somewhat useful, given that the keeps and towers auto-upgraded so quickly that most everything was fortified within an hour. Now that the auto-upgrades have been sufficiently slowed down, the Oasis event is no longer necessary (and furthermore only seems to be one more advantage to servers with larger populations fighting against servers with smaller populations).
While the servers in Tier 1, 2, and possibly 3 have no problem attracting players to WvW, severely lacking in population/coverage is a clearly an issue in the lower-tiered servers. Prior to the introduction of the megaservers, one way of attracting new players to WvW or “rallying the troops” was by calling out to players in Lion’s Arch. However, with the addition of the megaservers (and including Lion’s Arch map in the megaservers) this is no longer possible.
While I realize server pride is all but non-existent these days, it has become very difficult for the lower-tier servers to recruit players to WvW save for speaking to a player individually, or recruiting here on the forums (and let’s face it, a far greater number of players are interested in playing the game, not reading the forums, especially when it comes to WvW). Furthermore, removing Lion’s Arch from the megaserver will have little-to-no impact on players who choose to PvE/run dungeons/fractals, as those opportunities exist on every server, megaserver or not, while guaranteeing that players attempting to recruit from their own server’s player base are, in fact, reaching players from their own server.
This is one of the most informative and responsive threads I think I’ve ever come across regarding WvW and cheating in general on the forums. Thank you for all of the numerous responses you’ve given throughout this thread Michael. With that in mind, I would like to suggest that this thread be added to the locked threads at the top of this forum section so that it might be viewed by as many players as possible in the future! Again thanks Michael!!
For months now, I’ve noticed that often the Superior Sigil of Perception does not generate stacks after kills. It seems this occurs about 2/3rds of the time. I use the sigil on numerous different weapons, including underwater weapons, so it’s not a matter of swapping weapons and losing the stacks. I’ve also tried using the weapons in both main-hand and off-hand positions when the issue has occurred, and again this does not affect the result. I have even checked my Precision stat both before and after kills when the issue has occurred, and it’s not a matter of the stacks being generated but not appearing above my utilities. The stacks simply are not being generated at all.
I’ve never had any issue with either the Superior Sigil of Bloodlust or the Superior Sigil of Corruption, so it seems this is only an issue with the Superior Sigil of Perception.
I should add that this issue is occurring in both open world PvE and in WvW, so it’s not a matter of killing npcs that yield no exp in instances.

Not sure if this was brought up before (using the search query on the forums always yields 0 results), but the catapult skill 5 (shield) doesn’t work completely as intended. Although it will deflect direct fire from enemy trebs/catas/mortars/etc., splash damage from enemy trebs/catas/mortars that hits outside the bubble still passes through the bubble and damages the catapult/players.
Patches are the most common reason but not the only time a map will reset. A zone crash is another and also when the zone becomes empty. With two events drawing a very large number of people away it wouldn’t be surprising if a zone like Malchor’s Leap can become empty.
While I am aware of this, I have farmed Malchor’s Leap, Cursed Shore, and Frostgorge for orichalcum, ancient wood, etc. almost every single day (I’ve missed a day here or there on rare occasions) on multiple characters for the last year. I’ve even kept records to note when each character enters each zone for the purpose of knowing how quickly I can farm again (once per day per character, with the zones resetting at the daily reset, although no one character can farm the orichalcum or ancient wood nodes twice within a 6-hr span regardless of daily reset). What is happening here is not what you stated above. As I noted above these resets are occurring at a specific time every day, and the last time Malchor’s Leap reset in a manner similar to this it was noted to be a bug.
As a rule, the resource nodes in all zones reset whenever a new build is released, or subsequent updates addressing bugs. However, since the most recent update was released on Friday, Jan. 24th, the resource nodes in Malchor’s Leap are resetting every 12hrs…seemingly upon daily reset and again the following morning. I can verify this is happening on the Stormbluff Isle server but cannot verify if it is occurring on other servers as well.
More importantly, these spools will (probably) be required to make Bolt of Damask in the same way the Mithrillium is required to make Deldrimor Steel Ingot. So as we have to wait a few days to build up our mithrillium to make a three-ish ingots for weapons components… we may have to wait a few days to do the exact same thing for armor… whether it be mithrillium for ingots, or spools for bolt of damask.
I hate to say it, but we may be working at least 3 days per piece of armor just to get the time gated materials. I say 3 days because each armor piece costs typically fewer ingot-type material than a weapon does (except for chest).
Unfortunately it will likely be more like 5-6 days per piece of armor. While it took 3 days to craft 3 deldrimor ingots and 3 spiritwood planks for the ascended weapon inscriptions, my guess is ascended armor insignias will only use bolts of damask. If this is true, they will likely require 5-6 bolts (similar to the way exotic inscriptions required 3 orichalcum ingots/2 ancient wood planks and exotic insignias required 5 bolts of gossamer).
So the next update will let us craft ascended armory and get some more professions to lvl 500 which will make the prices go up even more. But is it even balanced? Crafting an entire Armor Set of 6 Pieces will requiere you to max just one profession which makes it far superior to the weapon-crafting professions. Ive spent about 200 to 250g to max Huntsman and to get my ascended weapon while maxing one of the armory professions will let you craft 6!! ascended armor pieces. In my opinion that is pretty unfair as i dont want to spend like 200g again to get my full set. I would like to see ur opinions about that
In fact there is a balance to it. You say that it’s unfair to be able to craft a full set of 6 pieces of armor vs. crafting one weapon if you master just one craft. But in essence it’s the same as needing to craft 6 weapons instead of one. That will require 6 times as many mats. Instead of 5 Bloodstone bricks/5 Dragonite ingots/5 Empyreal stars, you will now need 30 of each. Unless you started farming a month ago, it’s going to take quite a while to accumulate those materials. The same argument applies to the Deldrimor ingots/Spiritwood planks needed to make the weapons. You need at least 3 of each plus additional ingots/planks depending on the weapon. To make a full set of armor, you’re going to need either a lot of Deldrimor ingots, Elonian leather, or bolts of Damask PLUS a lot more bolts of Damask for the insignias (an assumption based on the fact that exotic armor insignias used only bolts of Gossamer).
Further compounding the difficulty of making armor vs. weapons is the fact that, for those of us who farm materials rather than outright buy them off the Trading Post, you could farm orichalcum ore or ancient wood logs for weapons. You cannot farm gossamer scraps or hardened leather for armor. You have to rely on RNG when salvaging.
As someone who devotes a LOT of time to crafting in all its aspects, I think armor is going to be more of a burden than weapons, in both cost of mats and time required.
We need some system. I don’t know exactly what, but something simple, like a window, where I can check who can use siege I place, with options: “Anyone, squad memebrs, guild members, party members, friend list, only me” could be a quick solution for this problem.
Any other ideas?
I like this idea as well, but I’d flip it around. Rather than allowing only friends/guildmates to access the siege you’ve built, thus denying friendly PUGs the ability to use it, make it so that anyone on your Blocked list is unable to use it. Furthermore, adding anyone to your blocked list immediately kicks them off the siege.
What Anet needs to do is block all new accounts from WvW for the first two weeks. 99% of all griefers are brand-new, secondary accounts (based on the fact that they are upleveled w/ 0 to <100 achievement points), so banning them via infractions will accomplish nothing, as they’ll simply resume playing on their main accounts. Furthermore, banning them is ineffective due simply to the fact that by the time they are reported/banned, the damage has already been done and they’ve accomplished what they set out to do.
By banning ALL new accounts from WvW for a period of two weeks, these secondary accounts would have to be acquired several weeks prior to any matchup. Due to the randomness of all matchups this would make griefing for a specific matchup extremely difficult.
So this is some proof of the spy “Feelgoodnow” from SBI whos on Yak’s Bend. He wastes supply, runs our golems off cliffs and gives our position away. Hey SBI dont qq about getting 2v1 when you have to resort to spies. ridiculous.
Just out of curiosity, do you have any proof that this player is indeed from SBI? If you go back through this thread, you’ll notice the complaints regarding spies/griefers arose from both SBI and YB at approximately the same time. When it originally happened many on SBI were accusing YB of doing the same…but at this point it honestly seems to make more sense that neither server has anything to do with these players, and they are in fact from another server entirely out here to grief both our servers. Do I have any proof? None whatsoever, which is about as much proof as you have that the player in your screenshots is from SBI.
Pointing out that the guild tag is [bags] means nothing, as anyone can create a guild with a similar acronym to the original guild from the opposing server(s). The griefers who were destroying SBI golems/wasting supply/interrupting SBI’s TS had a guild tag indicating they were from YB. Just because they typed it into the guild registrar doesn’t make it “proof”. Furthermore, indicating the player(s) account names in a forum post (which I see has since been deleted) will only earn YOU an infraction. These accounts are likely in no way linked to the player(s) main accounts, so be smart about it, report them in-game, come up with suggestions for Anet to avoid these sorts of problems in the future (if enough of us voice a complaint, maybe Anet will finally react?), rage about it in private or vent to your servermates, and move on.
Yes, I realize it sucks. It sucks for SBI and it sucks for YB. But making baseless accusations against the other server that we’re spying or you’re spying is a waste of time until you can find a way to prove that the griefer(s) accounts are somehow linked to a player with their main account on SBI or YB. I think you’ll find 99.9% of the players on BOTH servers find these actions shameful and want nothing to do with it.
Griefing aside, it’s been a great matchup this week YB and Ebay, and it’s not over yet…first place may have been decided, but second place is still up for grabs!
(edited by Ronin.4501)
Based on what I’ve seen both in-game and here on the forums, my guess would be it’s not a group (and I say group because from SBI’s vantage point it was multiple players on every BL and EBG at the same time) from either Yak’s Bend or Stormbluff Isle servers. More than likely it’s a group of players from a server located in the lower tiers who’s been on the receiving end of a few matchup losses to BOTH our servers and trying to sabotage what had been probably the best matchup, at least from my point of view, that we’ve had since the Season began. I would also hazard a guess that these are not accounts that were ever in use prior to this week given that when I added the griefers to my Friend list to see the account names, at most all of them had a maximum of 30 achievement points. Even someone who only played the game for a few weeks before abandoning the game would’ve earned more than that.
I made a post on the Suggestion forums and I’ll say the same thing here: Moving forward, request to Anet to implement a system where ALL new accounts are blocked from joining in WvW for the first 1-2 weeks of existence. It would prevent someone from creating a new account for the sole purpose of griefing the opposing servers during that week’s matchup (aside from Seasons there is no way of predicting which opposing servers will be faced the following week). It might be a burden on newer players who want to join in the fighting immediately, but it’s the only way to ensure that things of this nature don’t happen in the future. (or at least a better countermeasure than simply reporting a secondary account that means nothing to the griefer).
Griefing in WvW. It’s nothing new and we’ve all seen it. And when it’s just words, it’s easy enough to ignore/block the player(s) and move on, or if it devolves into harassment, report the player(s) and again, move on.
But what to do when a player takes it to the next level, such as destroying golems, dropping numerous pieces of siege and wasting valuable supply to build that siege? I realize those players can again be reported for harassment, but unless those players are immediately dealt with and suspended/banned, by the time punishment is handed out they’ve already done all the damage they intended, especially if they transferred from another server for the sole purpose of griefing during the week’s match. However, what I’ve encountered recently is players from other servers creating new accounts for the sole purpose of griefing, thus avoiding any risk to their main account.
My suggestion is to block ALL new players to the game from WvW for a period of 1-2 weeks. Although during the Season 1 of WvW the schedule is announced beforehand, once the Season ends, randomized matches will resume. This would prevent players from creating new accounts on the servers they’re up against from coming out to WvW and griefing during that matchup.
as something of a crafting fanatic (I’ve already gotten Weaponsmith/Huntsman/Artificer to 500) I plan on preparing to hit 500 in Armorsmith/Leatherworker/Tailor within a day or two of the Ascended Armor update. Based on the numbers from getting the weapons crafts to 500, I expect to need 115-120 ectos per craft, 15 of 5 different types of T6 mats (blood, poison sacs, etc) and 20 of 2 others, as well as 2 stacks of T6 ore/leather/silk (actually 2 stacks of unrefined + 1 stack of refined).
If you plan on crafting ascended armor once you reach 500, expect to set aside 1-3 stacks of the lower tier (T2-4) crafting materials (ore/leather) as well and 3-4 stacks of T5 ore/leather. If the recipes are at all similar to the makeup of exotic armor, expect to save at least twice as much T2-5 silk as you would ore/leather.
wasn’t just that one time. happend in ebg and sbi bl. Sorry for the QQ post i don’t usually do it. just annoyed cause no one wants to wvw on the server anymore. so don’t mind me i’ll just sit over here and pout.
normally we lose 50% of our wvw pop for events. now we are losing 80% of our wvw pop to living story.
not an excuse, we just cant compete with our lack of coverage.
i did have fun routing sbi’s 20man at orchard in dh bl tho earlier.
Not that it’ll make you feel any better, but we on SBI can certainly sympathize, having first seen a mass exodus of WvW guilds back during the free transfer days, then a slow trickle of PvX guilds leave over the months that followed. It’s only in the past 2 weeks that we’ve suddenly had an influx of WvW guilds transfer to our server.
The only advice I can offer for those of you who still do come out to fight every night is not to give up. Even if there’s no chance of winning, come out for the fights and the laughs and have fun. Do that and the other servers will notice, and eventually guilds on other servers that aren’t happy with their current server will take a harder look at DH when and if they start thinking about transferring.
While I agree with most everything you said here, you do realize it was a member of your guild (and one of your commanders) that was the one repeatedly caught hacking into enemy spawns? I suppose you’ve expelled them from your guild then?
I wasn’t there, however if you’re referring to a borderlands citadel I can say that’s far from “hacking”. You can literally jump into that place.
No, this was into SBI’s spawn on YB’s BL. And they didn’t enter through the stairs leading up to the waypoint either. I’d give more specifics, but I’m certain it would result in an infraction.
Ah alright. Yeah that’s a bit questionable.
I think it is something similar to the citadel, getting around the teleport barrier on the main entrance. I know I’ve walked right into an enemy spawn area on EBG using stealth, but didn’t get far in before I hit the barrier and got teleport back outside.
I agree that someone should not be able to get in there, but I don’t think there is any actual “hack” to it.
edit: I’m not going to say anything about how it’s done, but it’s easily done. No hacks or glitches involved, but it’s certainly an oversight in level design.
Ronin.4501And you’re right, a few incidents don’t necessarily reflect an entire server…but when it’s more than a dozen in one week, it does reflect poorly on the entire server.
I would consider a dozen to be quite few incidents considering the thousands of players on each server. That is by no means a significant portion of YB’s population, or even just my own guild’s.
The individual in question didn’t come in through the main entrance at all, but rather through an area where one would seemingly need the ability to fly to gain access.
And while I can’t speak of accusations made in matches SBI was not a part of, players from our server rarely even bother to post in these threads (regarding hacks or otherwise)…until this week. As others from both NSP and SBI have suggested, Yaks Bend seems to make much greater use of such exploits than do the other servers we have faced. Ignore it, deny it, make excuses all you like, but it still gives your server a bad name.

Just a heads up to NSP players, YB likes to have some of their members hack into spawn to spy on your golems/attack your golems. Real class act.
EDIT: Removed the name of the guild to avoid an infraction. But had another YB guild hack into Bay on multiple occasions tonight as well. Usually these incidents are limited to a handful of players or a single guild, but it looks like YB is fielding a good number of players/guilds of this caliber.
Kudos on your “win” this week.
SBI has already been caught on video and posted in this thread using hacks… Get over it. Bad apples on all servers. Not enough to swing the week.
The only posts I’ve seen referencing SBI using hacks in this entire thread were in regards to Arrow Cart fire, and as we’ve already explained over and over, it wasn’t a hack. Spend more time working on siege placement during off-hours and you’ll realize that.
As for score, I think you’ll find that the large majority of us on SBI don’t really care if we finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, so long as the fights were good…and clean. Whether your server held a 100k advantage or was suffering a 100k disadvantage, the fact that they made such abundant use of hacks throughout the week is what many of us will remember about Yaks Bend, which is a shame for all the players on your server who played legitimately and at times gave us a good thrashing. There have even been a few brave souls from your server who have apologized in private to our members regarding the numerous hacks, and that speaks volumes.

Indeed, and using the presence of a single member out of a 500 member guild as supporting evidence of a tower cap not being legit is ridiculous. My guild has close to 30 holding a rank reserved for our most dedicated wvw’ers, another 20 in the commander’s rank, and that is not including the dedicated players and commanders in the higher ranks of the guild. A few problems player doesn’t make the whole guild, or the entire server, a bunch of hackers.
I don’t want these players in my guild, or on my server. But there isn’t much I can do about the latter. Unfortunately, there isn’t going to be any server or actively recruiting guild that is completely clear of these people. They are a fact of life in online games, and we will continue dealing with them as best we can.

Just a heads up to NSP players, YB likes to have members of the [Os] guild hack into spawn to spy on your golems/attack your golems. Real class act.
Thanks dude we got your memo.
This is a very serious issue and I’ll have to inform our guild leader that our players are using our own spawn.I agree, its some mad skills on our part.
My apologies to the Os guild on NSP. While I was typing that I was listening in to our server’s Teamspeak, and although I had every intention of typing in the correct guild name, your guild was mentioned in one of the many conversations going on (not regarding hacking) and I ended up typing that instead. I quickly edited the post reflecting the correct guild(s), but some sage advice warned me to then re-edit the post removing all guild names lest I earn an infraction.
Again my apologies to the Os guild for dragging them into the mess that is Yaks Bend.

SBI I dont know if really happened but yesterday before patch kicked us from wvw I think you guys were rushing yaks hills with golems if I’m right… geez that is just bad luck :/ lucky for us thought!
Yeah, I was commanding for that one. Built 2 Omegas/4 Alphas with a small group of maybe 10 and walked right into YB Hills completely unopposed. We made it to the inner gate and had just started knocking when we were all booted from WvW. Not the first time it’s happened, and undoubtedly not the last either. But I can’t complain…we’ve been on the other side of those situations as well, where 30 seconds more and we would have lost our keep.
Maybe next time!!
I’m not trying to point anyone out specifically, nor am I trying to ‘grief’ someone. I play fair always, I don’t glitch, and I don’t even target players who are dueling or getting vistas, sp’s ect. But I do spend most of my gw2 time in wvw, and I take pride in my server and what we do, so I get extremely frustrated when a couple bad apples do questionable things. Yes, we all have them on our servers, and I have personally told ppl that I have seen doing it on NSP to stop, as it makes all of us look bad., not just NSP. I look forward to having good fights and matchups, and I think that sentiment is shared across all the severs in wvw. And I apologize if I came across as being rather harsh. As to the issue of whether or not an ac zoom glitch was used – either believe me or don’t; I will not argue the point further.
Good luck to everyone! Peace.Edit:
And yes, it can be done. I had a friend stand where I said that the shots hit, and if you zoom in, you can see the green ac target is BEHIND him. I really wish Anet could fix this from happening. I won’t specify exactly how it is done, for obvious reasons. Peace.
As I already stated on the first page of this thread, SBI has spent weeks working on siege placement, specifically what works and what doesn’t, and not just with arrow carts but ballistae, catapults, and trebuchets (it became necessary after several matchups against Borlis “Arrow Cart” Pass). Furthermore, depending on what size monitor you have will grant some flexibility in the targeting. Please take all this into consideration before you start calling us cheaters.
I’d also like to know how you can see a friend’s AC targeting? We can all see the red circles generated by enemy AC fire well enough, but I’ve yet to see any circles generated by friendly AC fire. Unfortunately this means if a teammate were to use a “zoom hack” the rest of us would have no way of knowing unless it were completely outrageous, and thus policing our own members is almost impossible if anyone is in fact using such a method.
I will agree with you that some of the facets of siege fire in this game are a bit ridiculous (firing catas at gates to take out rams on the other side being one of my favorites), but as you said that’s in Anet’s hands, not ours.
Truth is, SBI is ONLY good when they outnumber the opposition 3-1 or better….and use AC zoom hacks.
/sigh
Funny…we seemed to handle ourselves quite well last night when we were outnumbered by both YB and NSP on our own BL. Yes, we did have superior numbers today when we turned most of YB’s BL green…but for SBI that’s a 1-in-100 occurrence. Then again, I find it odd that someone on a server that has only faced us once in the past 5 months would be able to determine how good we are only 24hrs into the match.
And make all the baseless accusations about zoom-hacks all you want, but our server has been working for several weeks on effective siege placement. Apparently time well spent!
(edited by Ronin.4501)
Quick question, Is SBI and Yaks going to mainly focus on NSP and leave each other alone for the most part this week? If so It’s all good, I understand. We already know that we have fewer WvW population and coverage. Just wanting to know what to expect.
I can’t speak for Yak’s Bend, but SBI doesn’t play favorites!

Fun fights at the impromptu Fight Club on SBI BL w/ a few DH about an hour ago!!
The problem I have with a new Living Story update every 2 weeks is that it inevitably means half-a-dozen new builds (by my count there have been 5 already in the week following the update) to repair bugs found in the Living Story content. The problem with this is that by the time all the kinks are finally worked out, we’re already moving on to another update for a new Living Story with new bugs to be fixed. This means that very little to no time is left to devote to fixing the existing bugs elsewhere in PvE/sPvP/WvW. Furthermore it seems that with each new Living Story update, new bugs arise elsewhere in the game. Please PLEASE reduce the amount of Living Story updates to once every three to four weeks and devote more time to fixing the existing bugs in the game, or I fear at some point the only playable area left in the game will be the Living Story itself.
Excellent fight for center quaggans between all 3 servers for a good 15-20+ minutes in SoS BL just now!! We were determined to take it!
Good to see NSP and BP working so well together on BP’s BL tonight (which was quite apparent with NSP completely ignoring Hills, held by BP, and focusing on Bay which SBI held). We may eventually lose Bay, but knowing it’s taking two servers that easily outnumber us 2:1 makes it a victory in my book.
Some good fights last night! Some of them seemed to rage on forever, which made for really good fun. And was it just me, or did SBI rally the troops this week? I swear you guys had a much larger presence last night than I saw from you last week. Keep up the good fights!
Fewer people working on Dragon coffers and Dragon events…and it’s reset night, which always brings out a few more. Best to wait until midweek to see if the troops have truly answered the call…or not.
For the most part this matchup has been great this week, but definitely very unimpressed with the [ALS] guild from AR, several of whom seem overly willing to employ the zoom hack on the ACs. Sadly I’ve seen it from them all week long. I guess it’s not only the T1/2 servers that employ the hacks and exploits…
Also, there are the rare times that a single map or two resets itself, so the nodes wind up changing without a new build.
This is true as well. In addition to continuing to move daily in Southsun Cove (the one exception seeming to be the ori node that spawns where the rich ori node used to spawn), I have also seen all crafting nodes reset location in Malechor’s Leap w/o a new build, although this seems to occur only when a node spawns in an inaccessible location after a new build.
i have knot-aced after farming the nodes on different charters is they reset the area at where they spawn in 24 hours and the places are moved so not every charater has the same spawn. its to help with bots. it might of been a secret nurf in a patch.
Although this is still true for rich mithril ore, and was once true for the ori ore as well, in the past month the ori nodes have been respawning at the daily reset. However, as I mentioned in my previous post, I have noticed ANet tinkering with both respawn timers and how often the nodes relocate, so it’s always possible that what holds true for today will not hold true for tomorrow.
Pretty sure they don’t respawn on reset. Each node still has its own timer. There was an ori near an ancient sapling that I kept forgetting to mine while standing next to it. I finally got to mining it a few hours after chopping the tree. When I went back to chop the tree after reset the ori was still mined out. This was in frostgorge.
I’ve actually been keeping notes on what time I farm in each zone for the past two months. I can verify that ori nodes have been resetting with the daily reset as on a few occasions I’ve farmed the nodes 1-2hrs prior to reset and then again immediately after reset, although I haven’t done this recently as the rich mithril nodes were still on a 24hr timer and I prefer to get all my farming runs done at one time. However, it is possible that ANet is still tinkering with the ori respawns. As I mentioned in my previous post the nodes move daily in Southsun Cove, and in the second most recent build were doing the same in Frostgorge, although with the most recent build the nodes in Frostgorge resumed their respawns in the same location.
Based on my own personal experience with farming orichalcum, it doesn’t reset on the same timer that other ore does. Orichalcum resets at the same time as the daily reset, whereas mithril ore resets after several hours after you’ve mined it, and rich mithril ore resets approximately 24hrs after you’ve mined it.
This being said, I’ve noticed that on Southsun Cove the orichalcum nodes move every single day, as opposed to the other maps having fixed locations until a new build comes out (although the nodes in Frostgorge Sound recently experienced a daily movement as well for a time, so this may be what the future holds for all zones where orichalcum resides).
However, in using Orrmaps I’ve come to find that a lot of the maps made simply are not reliable, in some cases because a new build came out and the maker of the map did not reset their map and has not updated it as of yet. I would recommend trying several of the Orrmaps on a particular server if the first one fails you.
Having a lot of fun in Eternal tonight, holding overlook against hordes of SBI!
May i just ask what was SBIs plan when they were through the outer door? You guys just stayed there taking constant siege aoe, dying, giving us so much karma, badges and money! Im not complaining, just want to know if there was a strategy behind that or not, was a good laugh for us, thats for sure.
We would tell you, but then we’d have to kill you! Tactical secrets my man, tactical secrets!! But you’ll find those of us on SBI rarely if ever shy away from a good fight, even if a few of us have to play to role of cannonfodder to take the objective.
While this is true it would be wrong for Kiwi not to get the credit they deserve. Obviously no one guild is doing everything, just right now Kiwi, SBI, KT are some of our larger guilds having a big impact. I can sit here and name 30 guilds with 10 players or less contributing, not including the militia.
I appreciate the second response Bannok. I wasn’t trying to deny Kiwi their due. I just feel that SBI’s success will come only when all our WvW guilds (and players), both big and small, are putting forth a complete effort, and not hinge on any one guild’s effort(s) alone, which is more what I took from your original post rather than just offering Kiwi a hearty kudos.
So instead maybe I should have said this: Great job by ALL who made an effort over the last 24hrs (OK so maybe it hasn’t quite been 24hrs since reset) to put ourselves in a strong starting position for the first time in quite a while!

For whats is worth we were outmanned in EB until I logged at 2 am eastern. Kiwi pretty much came over and flooded most maps. They have been doing the heavy lifting as of late, out success pretty much depends on them. Last night didnt see much of IoJ, but a whole lotta DR. Maybe tonight we will have a queue since we are in the lead now, we’ll see.
Fairly certain there were dozens of other SBI players from other guilds taking part in keeping the BLs/EB under SBI control throughout the night and into late Oceanic time. I know my group of 4 Aussies did our part in taking/upgrading Bay in both DR and IoJ BLs late Oceanic time tonight.
I’d much rather see the SBI community supporting ALL it’s members rather than just giving credit to a few. Thanks.
One complaint about the Bouquet of Roses; it’s account bound. I can understand the need to have the other items available in the Gem Store as such, but the whole idea behind Valentine’s Day is to GIVE something to a significant other or that special friend. It would have made a lot more sense to be able to GIVE the Bouquet of Roses to someone else, rather than have them buy it for themselves…
Otherwise I thought it was a wonderful idea.
I can confirm that each of the 3 chests in the BL JPs are on separate character-specific 24-hr timers as I’ve made notes of this; for example, if you opened the top-half key chest at 11:00pm and then were attacked/killed and weren’t able to return and retrieve the lower-half key/reward chest until 11:30pm, when you returned the next day at 11:00 pm the top-half key chest would have reset but the lower-half key/reward chest would not reset for another 30 minutes. Server timers have nothing to do with it.
None taken!! It is what it is. I can’t fault either SoR or JQ for what’s happened here on SBI. Regardless of the situation, expect us to fight tooth and nail to the last man (or woman)!! We might go down, but it won’t be gracefully.
For all the animosity displayed here on the forums between the two servers, I must say TC and SoR seemed to work quite well together out in SBI BL. It was rough-going for a bit as we tried to defend the garrison from the SoR zerg while TC came through hitting our towers and camps. Reminds me of the “old” days in T1 when SoS and JQ would gang up on SBI.
Either way, fun fights. I’m quite proud of my fellow “Steel Balls” Isle players who’ve stuck it out for better or worse!!

Same for me. I’ve been randomly disconnected several times in an hour from the SBI borderlands, whether there are numerous players around or none at all (and it’s not the connection on my end, as I still remain in Teamspeak w/ no connectivity issues to speak of). Far more annoying is when I get stuck in the loading screen for 10-20-30 minutes as I attempt to enter the borderlands, with ALT + F4 being the only means by which to get out. (and as I am forced to run a 5-10 minute repair every time I open the GW2 client this is extremely frustrating.).
btw, I live in the eastern US, so yes it is happening here in America as well.

still getting this as of 12/14/12. I used a Master Axe on Orrian wood in Cursed Shore. 3 ruined logs as a result.
