Need help/tips with my P/D Thief

Well, as the title says, I need some help with my current P/D build. :P

I normally use this build for flipping camps on WvW and scouting but been trying to “improve it” a little since they added the new torment condition but didn’t worked really well for me since I dropped SS for Skale Venom and felt that I lost a lot of mobility without SS.

Also, lately I’ve been struggling to kill people, sometimes the fight last for too long (like I’m not doing enough dmg but my opponent can’t kill me either) and I have to disengage before the zerg comes to help or I over commit and end up death.

Any help or tip would be appreciated so I can play better with my thief.

Can’t buy Gems with my CC

Already checked with my bank and my CC is ok, also tried with Paypal… same result. Already tried looking for the gw2cache folder to delete it as suggested and there’s none on my computer, can someone help me with this?

New WEAPONS suggestions for next expansion?

Yeah, sorry… I did meant crossbows not ballistas my bad :P As for spears, what I meant where throwing spears like the ones paragons had on GW1, polearms would be cool too.

I know they still have a lot of work to do before they release or say something about an expansion but I think it’s nice to give out ideas of what players would like to see in the future so the guys at Arenanet know what the players might like once they decide on a new expansion.

I haven’t seen a topic like this one so I decided to make one.

What weapons would you suggest to be added for each class on next expansion?

Thief:
- Scythe
- Kusarigama

Ranger:
- Trap Kit? (Like something ENG have)
- Throwing Knives/Ballista

Guardian:
- Spear 1handed
- Tower Shield (with different mechanics from the normal shield)

Warrior:
- Ballista (With dif setup from Ranger)
- Spear (with dif setup from Guardian)

Those are the ones that I could come up with and maybe some of you guys have more interesting weapons that you would like to suggest?

What do you think about Legendary Weapons?

I like the fact that those weapons are hard to get, hence the “Legendary” title but I think the mats for them are a little too much.

I don’t have the time to be glued to my computer 5hrs a day like I used in GW1, so for someone like me that plays very little every day, it’s nearly impossible to get one of those and I give credit to the people that invest the time and resources to get them but in my opinion, is way to much for a pretty skin.

Besides, the only one I like is the Longsword with the night motive.

A rough tips and tricks AGAINST mesmers

in PvP

There are some really good tips in here, I play mesmer as my main and been doing a lot of PvP lately and to be honest, mesmers aren’t that strong as people claim them to be.

It’s funny how people rage over mesmers when they expect to run you over with a single burst on sPvP, good mesmers aren’t easy to kill, that’s the truth of it and it always been since GW1, in fact… mesmers where way more annoying in GW1.

They could completely SHUT DOWN any class and laugh at your face while doing it, you where a Warrior? They would blind you the entire fight making you a usless meatshield. You where a Caster? They would interrupt you the whole fight not letting you do a SINGLE hit or cast hexes on you so you would kill yourself if you try to cast something but people learned to counter them instead of crying all over the forums about how OP they where.

But enough of that, if you want to kill mesmers on sPvP, play smart! Look at what type of build he’s using, if he’s a clone spammer it most likely that he’s using a shatter build so focus fire on the real one (You know, the one that dodges, keeps moving all the time and does different casting animations?) they tend to die really fast if you keep pressure on them, If he’s using a phantasm build, destroy the purple copies as soon as they appear, they tend to have a 1-2 second dealy before doing it’s damage once they spawn, which makes easy to dodge if you pay attention, once his phantasm are gone he will be an easy target and will try to run from you to reset his CD.

Also keep in mind that sPvP is not about owning people, it’s about working together as a team to CAPTURE territories and get more points than the other team, I’ve had fights when people where so concerned on killing the other team that they forgot to capture anything, losing the match in the end.

The big problem I see here its the people that want to 1vs1 everyone and cry when they can’t do that well against a mesmer or a sin when those 2 classes have been always heavy PvP oriented, learn to counter them and they will die most of the time and most importantly, work as a TEAM and you will always win.

What class to pick for best PvP?

L2play ranger man. They can be decent.

If you want to facetruck people with no skill, try mesmer or thief.

This… but to be honest, Mesmer is tricky to learn and you have to set up skills and runes right to be able to faceroll in PvP, also Mesmers are a PvP centric class, so they are a good choice if you want a PvP character.

Thief is awesome and fun to play but kinda squishy if you don’t handle your agro at players correctly but they are easy to learn but not that easy to master.

Warrior is pretty easy to learn for PvP and can do tons of damage, if you use your skills right. Keep in mind that it’s no secret that some classes are going to have a bad time against others in 1vs1 but if you learn your class and master your build, you can kill anyone.

In short, every class can be awesome in PvP, my advice would be to choose the class you like the most and practice/experiment with it until you get better and better.
