That pretty much sums up how i feel about the Living Story at this point. I don’t sense any sort of developed, over-arching storyline, each update seems to be a micro-event with relatively little relation to the other updates, and I don’t know what the main villain’s motivations and goals are.

Where’s the plot Anet? Where’s the detailed storytelling? I’m bored with disjointed updates, we need something concrete.

This sums up my thoughts as well. Instead of being more excited by each Living Story updated, I’m instead more & more frustrated. This isn’t one over-arching game… it’s a zillion little mini games with no relation to one another.

I’m at the point now where I’m simply killing time until ESO comes out and offers me something better.

Still bugged. The event needs to at least conclude, or have more robust NPCs to assist (NPCs that aren’t always dead when you show up to the event)!

FINALLY! I got this last night. Two of my NPCs didn’t die immediately. One made it 2/3rds of the way through the Champ’s hp, the other 3/4. I killed the champ from a downed position, but he finally died! The rest of the quest was a cakewalk after that first bit.

I play a ranger, and my pet was trying to revive me (aka heal me from the locust storms) while I finished killing the darn champion. If I hadn’t had the pet to help like that, I would’ve died before I could’ve killed him. I was level 68 with level 65-68 armor

And this is supposed to be a level 59 quest? Yeah, right!

I can’t get My Transactions to show, and when I go to buy something on the Trading Post, nothing shows up (& the filter feature isn’t appearing).

Not raging. I’m truly glad you were able to make it work! I’m still struggling. And I find that frustrating because I feel that a personal story should be able to be completed solo. That doesn’t seem possible for me right now.

For others who have the same order and made the same choice, I’m glad you were able to share the hints that made it work for you.

Reading the post i really don’t believe there is a bug.

I think you should just use the item provided by the NPC you recruited before. To me was the vacuum.

Try spam 1, 1, 1 to charge up. Spam 2 to enable the 3 skill. If the Champion get closer alone spam 4 to kick and if it swarms spam 5. Use 3 to bring his life down.

Repeat the process again and again :-p

Well fantastic for you. I chose the 2 Charr warriors… and guess what? They DIE, like all the other NPCs that try to ‘help’ with this personal story.

At least it’s not just me! I’m playing a L66 Ranger and died 7 or 8 times before giving up on this for the night.

Once where I got him 80% killed, and then he ran back & reset!! [insert massive frustration sounds here]. By that time all my NPC buds were dead & if I tried to rez them, I’d just get attacked & killed.

I’m having similar issues. I can’t even get to the beacons, the Champion guarding them downs all the NPCs that are supposed to be helping me. I can’t rez them, as then I get killed.

How are you supposed to beat this?

ETA: I’m using a level 66 ranger w/brown bear pet.

I was in your shoes. I picked a different server, started a character, & started leveling. I also purchased 1800 gems with cash so that I’d be able to transfer without starting over.

Each time I logged in to play, I’d see if the server with our friends (Blackgate) was less than Full. It took two weeks, but I was able to transfer over my level 29 Ranger a couple nights ago.

Active most evenings PDT (6-9pm), and weekend mornings (sometime afternoon/evenings)

Edit to add: I don’t mind guild size, as long as the folks there are active enough that there are people around when I’m ready to play.

I really do mean a guild on Blackgate. I’m not willing to transfer servers, and constantly guesting seems like a hassle to me.

[RED] red-guild.com is on Devona’s Rest, and has been very friendly & welcoming to me (as a noob to everything, not just dungeons). The event calendar on the website is viewable, so you can see the various things that are formally scheduled. Plus the guild’s big enough that groups are randomly getting together to go do dungeons & things.

DR based [RED] does weekly WvW, PvE, and other activities. Check out the guild calendar at red-guild.com. Find an officer in-game for an invite.

I had the same problem (level 17 Ranger) when my husband (level 18 Engineer) wandered into the Crown Pavilion thinking it was something appropriate for all levels.

If you run out of level-appropriate things to do in your starting area, go to the starting area of another race, and do those lower-level things for a while. Then you’ll be high enough level to move on to the more challenging areas. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I still occasionally get support tokens with my loot, they’re worth so much that I love getting them now!
