Most of the arguments put forward here depend almost purely on gear.

Fact is, take away the bulk of high level rares which are being twinked onto the avg elem and you’re dead when you get mobbed in a downgraded fight.

Every other class, will survive the same fight. But because you’re attacks are on much higher cool downs and you suddenly have almost no health.. without the bonus stats from gear and weapons, your ability is non existent.

One on a few at your own level easy as pie.. loss a dozen levels.. see how fast you die when you can’t heal yourself.

I’ve got 5 chars in 5 different classes. 4 are fun, elem is ok.. until you try to go back and clear maps then it’s just a misery.

If you die holding the anchor, it disappears.

You cannot go back and get a new one, you have to force the game to kick you out and restart it from the beginning.

Although you restart from checkpoint, you do so without the anchor and press F does nothing on the open mirror portal.

Since I’m not going to sit around all day downloading a patch, nor leave my pc on whilst at work or asleep.

Realistically to download the entire 220000 files will take the avg player a week to download.

So the only question to ask yourself is: Can you be bothered?

The files/size thing is on purpose. Deliberate ignorant attitude towards thier own clients.

At the current rate of windows crashes + the time it takes for me to find out that the pc has crashed. It’s taken me nearly 20 hours to download 115000 files. Since i’ve no idea how big those files are.. i have no idea how long it’s going to take. I am guessing that installing the game from disk is pointless and updating in this manner equally so.

To anyone who hasn’t bought this game… I say, either don’t bother. Or get the digital download. It’s probably the faster way to install the game.

When I bought GW2 this afternoon, it said downloading files 77,000…
Later, after several Win8 crashes (which win8 seems to do alot of)
It changed to 220,000 Files.
In the last 9 hours, I’ve reduced this to 157,000 files. Now I realise Support advises to leave the computer on overnight, but I’m wondering how many days of downloading it is actually going to be downloading this patch?

I only get 5mbit download rate. It’s downloaded about 70k files in nearly 10 hours. Does that mean I still have about 20 hours of downloading left?

Know how you feel… Just bought the game, install takes nearly an hour.. then you have to register.. the info entered isn’t advised correctly, then there’s the confusion over how to actually connect.. then you’re hit with a 3 hour patch download, which essentially replaces the entire game you just installed from disk.

Then you come online and find out it’s PaytoWin. By Win, I refer to gain max level.

But that said, I didn’t play the beta, didn’t watch the youtube vids, will NEVER buy gold or use xpomats. I’ll just play the game as I choose.

Because that is what makes an MMO. It isn’t what you can do, it’s what you do, do.

Mmo’s these days are for chimps who need to be able to cheattowin using cornercutting cash, oblivious to the fact they’re being ripped off of cash better used elsewhere. But if these people (and i use that term loosely) wish to play like that let them. It’s thier loss, have no skills, not knowing “how” to actually play.. having to watch someone elses skill on youtube to know what to do. Never realising, that buying your max level isn’t winning the game. To win any game, you need to grind the levels 1xp at a time. Only when you gain those legendary items by your own hands and skills, can you actually boast to winning the game.

Naturally, that does mean that 99.99% of players are also all liars.. but then, that’s just like real life.

Not to mention all the typo filled posts…

I want grind. That’s what makes a game. No grind.. no point playing.
