I wouldnt mind laying down a coupla euros for some diffirent particle effects. Games like Champions online have it.
A mesmer with dark shatter effects would be nice and instead of butterflies, perhaps crows or crawly bugs. You know, bring that Mask of Dread into play.
I’d LOVE the spear on land
How about No greatsword. Greatswords are way over used, and harm diversity in the game. No on the Hammer as well. This is an extremely brutish weapon and I feel dirty just thinking about a necromancer using a hammer.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Necromancer_Munne
Check her trivia. ;-)
Also as far as casters go necromancers ARE extremely brutish, everything about the class is built around inflicting pain in as unsubtle and unpleasant a way as possible.
I don’t associate pain with being a bruit. Perhaps you do, but that would make every profession brutish in your eyes. I see a bruit as someone who likes to get there hands dirty. Real hands on type of person who wants to feel someone’s skull crushed under their boot, the really relish the impact of the weapon.
As a necromancer.. I’m not fond of this direct approach. Them screaming as they crawl to me to ease there pain as I lift my skirt away from them and tell them “Get away from me, You will get blood all over my new shoes.” Sadist, Yes, necromancers are Sadistic and sometimes Masochistic. Bruits? No.
You mixed up necromancer with mesmer, let me give you examples of what necro skills do and did: Eat part of the enemy and disintegrate them into blood and/or life force in 9 different ways (or 14 depending on what you count), summon a demonic shadow from the stygian pits to stalk the enemy and destroy nerves, pull out both peoples blood and mix it around, crush the skull with their targets heads skin/muscles, cause bone cancer, overflow the lungs, summon stygian demons from the hellpits to slowly eat the enemy sending the energy to you (in 3 different ways), remove/push away all heat/energy from 7 different locations including the ground under the the enemy causing their skin to frostbite stick to it essentially either ripping off their own skin if they want to move or being slowly frozen in place.
Yeah most of that is with the extension of our spectral grasps, so you cannot say that we are the type in leather outfits that whip people and drop little pieces of candle wax on their back or other parts (even if some of us did wear such leather outfits with more fancy designs).I didn’t mix them up at all. My necromancer Likes to watch them rot. Actually touching them? No. And I don’t know of any necromancer that likes to hear bones break. IN MY OPINION, thats just not them. Listening to people choke to death, screaming and watching them rot is more MY style. And necromancer’s don’t even need to touch them to cause them bodily harm, UNLESS THEY’D PREFER TO. Thats the beauty of it.
But this was about IF a necromancer would use a Hammer or not. I don’t like it. Nothing you say can make me LIKE the idea of using a hammer. Just feels to dirty. If I’m going to be getting messy, I’m going to be in a outfit that is made for that in the morgue with some saws, scalpels needles and so on. Because if I’m getting dirty I’m going to make an undead construct. I’m not going to get my new lovely battle outfit dirty. A Girl has to have her priorities.
You have any idea how hard it is to find usable corpses on the battle field after some bruit with a hammer gone to town on everything? Broken bones means I have to use more corpses for a single minion which means more energy spent and more time consumed. Then if I’m collecting parts for a construct I have to find bones that aren’t broken.. Which becomes even harder after using a hammer. Its just messy, and impractical for the aspiring necromancer on the go.
TL:DR version: They could use melee weapons. They could get down and dirty. But because I dont like it, I wont allow other people to enjoy the concept.
Fixed.
I love the idea of getting into the middle of things, and so does my necromancer.
Take the pain, spread it, feed on it! Blood EVERYWHERE! Babtising the dirt with blood and death!
With every laceration she will grow stronger.
I am death, I am unstoppable.
I’m the Juggernaught, kitten.
I want melee cleave, I want better lifesyphon.
Deathknights, blackguards, and wights were around WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before
WoW.

Personally I’d love to see a defensive 2-handed cleave weapon.
With pulls instead of leaps and charges.
So it stays in the concept of a low mobility attrition class
I would be happy with any AoE power-based weapon.
Be that one-handed or two-handed.
Melee or ranged.
I would be extra happy with a GS or a hammer though :P
Cleave for necros.
Long range power dps for raids
Plox Gief
Cleave for necro.
Power AoE
Better lifesyphon
The sword that Aragorn (and pretty much every other sword wielding character in LotR) wields is a kittensword AKA Hand-And-Half sword.
They were meant to be wielded by two hands, but also could be (if a bit clumsy) wielded with one hand.
Real greatswords like Claymores and Zweihanders were frikkin huge and originally meant to be able to use in fighting infantry and cavalry.
That aside, at one point Aragorn did wield a type of greatsword.
I think he means to say that he wants the same level of customability as seen in APB.
And that he is disappointed with the small selection of haircuts and faces available in GW2 and that you have to pay gems for an extra haircut.
Still want to greatsword, but any melee-cleave weapon will do.
GS idea: ((Mainly meant for tankiness))
GS1.————————————————————————-
Reaper’s Blade: X damage, cleave
Wheat before the scythe: X damage, cleave, 2% lifeforce
The Grim Harvest: X damage, 180 degrees whirl finisher, 2% lifeforce, 10% life syphon off damage, 1,5 sec cast
————————————————————————————-
GS2.——————————————————————————
Vampyric Bloodthirst: channeled x seconds, doing x damage per tick, syphons x health, generates x lifeforce. Target is rooter for the duration. (Similar to dagger 2)
—————————————————————————————
GS3.————————————————————————
Unholy Feast: x damage, PBAoE, remove 1 boon from each target, each boon removed from enemies heals player for x amount
———————————————————————————-
GS4————————————————————————-
Wail of Doom: PBAoE, x damage, Weakness 10s, 5 stack vulnerability 10s (LONG CD)
———————————————————————————-
GS5————————————————————————-
None Escapes The Reaper: PBAoE pull, 300ft, cripple/torment
————————————————————————————
Traits to go along with it:
1. Decrease gs cd by 20%
2. While wielding gs, armor is increased for tankiness
3. Increase lifesyphon on gs
I’d love to see something like this implemented. Looks really interesting.
iDeal
Shut up and get it, so you can take my money
+1 to this, totally.
I’m suprised it hasnt been there since the beginning.
^I like this!
Though it sounds a wee bit OP
Tim. Tim is the best name for any mage
What I would like to see is a reworking of the attunement system, and a way to make the individual attunements viable for specialisation.
Weapons being a choice on how to express the attunements.
-Daggers being in your face and aggressive. (high dps. low defence skills, leap finishers)
-Scepters being used for support (Med/low dps, high support boons)
-Staff being used for the AoE. You want to spread effects or damage all over the place. Use a staff. (Med dps, med support, large AoE
-Focus being a great defensive tool (low dps, high defence utility)
As with attunements. As I see it now, everyone just goes for arcane and water to get the much needed survivability. And because of the hiiiiiigh high CD’s we have, we use almost every attunement in even small fights. Specializing in a one or two attunements only severely cripples your preformance. If you want to be a d/d fire mage, sure you could. but you’d only be able to do a significant burst every 45sec, because of the ridiculous CDs.
I’d like to see a possibility to specialize into the various attunements, reducing the CDs so that abilities will be on par with other classes. Ofcourse “specialization” means you get worse at other attuments. For example, the fire mage wouldnt be very good at water magic, Air vs Earth. That sort of idea. Also, I’d like to see some sort of gameplay mechanic for each attument.
-Fire: Blind, burning, might. Consuming burning on enemies for extra burst?
-Water: Chill, regen, flat heals.
-Air: Hard CCs, root, stun, kd, vulnerability and mobility
-Earth: Protection, kd, cripples, bleeds, invulnerability. I’m talking tank with a little con damage here. Self cripples for more invul.
TLDR; Change the way the very clunky attument systems works and our traits. I want to see specialisations in attuments and not just everything in water and arcane to be able to keep standing during a fight.

Cleaving, and lifestealing. I dont even care about dps at this point.
I want awesome tankomancer
I just want something in melee with cleave. So I can make an awesome tankomancer build. Pref a greatsword for awesomeness, but at this point I’ll be happy with anything.
Mace sounds pretty neat actually
honestly I wouldn’t want any existing weapons especially not greatsword except maybe torch. I think torch would not only synergize well with our current trait system but also the lore so it wouldn’t seem so ridiculously absurd as a necro toting an obnoxious greatsword.
I just want to dual wield scepters!
^ and this lol
As I said in a previous post. Making gs (or any other weapon available) does not force you to play with one. Why would you want to deny other necros a gs if they want it because you dont want to play with one?
As I said previously, I’d really like the possibility of a greatsword.
And personally, I dont think it clashes too much with the necro archetype.
Mages DONT have to be the weaklings in the back and I think that during the hype of GW2 the devs mentioned on multiple occasions that they want to break through the normal archetypes and create something new. To allow players to play the way they want to.
Ever since reading this topic I have seen a wide range of comments and opinions, but also alot of people who outright dismiss any posibility because it doesnt fit their beliefs. Having a gs added to the arsenal does NOT force you to play with one. This was the whole point of gw2 when it was in development. Play it your way. If you want to be standing in the back tossing conditions with scepter, be my guest. I want you to enjoy yourself playing this game.
“Sure, but if you want to go in swinging a gs, why not play a warrior, ranger or guardian?” Because I want to play something like a deathly reaver, a lifedrinking wight, a black guard who dominates his/her foes with steel and deathly spells. Sweeping over the battlefields like a plague. I absolutely love this vision! I could be the Witchking or the rest of the Nazgul.
Wouldnt that be frikkin awesome!?
Deffo GS.
The idea of having a lifestealing cleave build just smells like pure awesome.
Swooping in on demonic necro wings (Like the ranger only more necro looking)
Cleaving and stealing health
Maybe some nice disruptions.
It could be the new bunker build / pve tank build
Or crazy in your face AoE dps
Rifle, definately
