How are current guild upgrades going to transition to the new guild hall system? Will it be only grandfathering banks or will we receive other benefits/items for upgrading Politics/Art of War/Economy to level 6?
Also, will guild buffs (currently crafted) stay after transition or if activated before release stay active for the full 24-72 period?
Are guild halls going to add-on to the current system or completely replace it?
So, are all guild banks, banners, missions and bonuses still going to be useable upon release of HoT or will they disappear.

The Zam article states that both influence and merits are going away, meaning that there will be no future way to upgrade the current system. Missions are being reworked into the guild hall. Banners and WvW items will be crafted in one of the new buildings.
If replacement is the case and you have to purchase HoT to start a guild hall to keep what you have built already, it seems unfair to hold small guilds hostage for $50.
I currently have a personal guild that is almost maxed. It use to be an active guild of no more than 25 members, all who have either left guild or quit the game. Since we were small I spent money on gems, gems to gold, then gold to influence to build up the guild quickly. Did I basically just wasted all that money?

Yep… full of hate and bile for all the noobs (and lack of any additions or improvements to WvW).
Wonder how much hate I would get if I started a thread every other week saying that Backstab should have it power reduced 75% and apply conditions or Heartseeker needs to be removed and replaced with something more conditioned spec’d.
Look at the threads above and you can easily see that this is not a discussion about changes but a bunch of noobs looking for a new “I win” button.
You guys beat me to it. After last week’s positive discussion on siege trolls I wanted to bring up the topic of population imbalance and ideas that you have on it.
There are a couple of ideas already going in this thread:
- population caps
- merge servers
- Battle Groups

Sorry, but I think this discussion is a waste of time as population balance is, for the most part, not the problem, but a effect of the real problems.
Here are some issues that I think should be addressed first before there is any talk of population caps, server merge or battle groups.
*WvW reward system – Currently non-existent (Create reward track specifically for WvW)
*Recognition – Currently only server ranking (Create leader boards for guild, profession and individual, create special titles for top players and create special target frame for top players)
*Rally system – Currently one death can rally all who tagged. (Should be limited to one for one)
*Healing downed players – Currently most non-healing spec’d person can rez faster than the stomp animation. (Combination of limiting rez’ers to one per downed player, reduce healing amount, reduce cool down timing of down state skills and revamp down state skills to provide “equal”/ better survivability)
*Break up the Blob – Currently easiest way to win is with a blob (Revamp rules to encourage more spread out/tactical play; i.e. remove waypoints from WvW)
*Change balancing development cycle – Currently about every 6 months (Change to smaller changes every 4-6 weeks)
*Maps – Currently maps are old and stale (Create new maps and/or rotate EotM for EB)
*Develop metrics of active WvW participants, monitor and adjust server ratings accordingly – Limits length of imbalanced match-ups.
*Season/Leagues should be groups of 6 for 4 weeks.
*Stop considering EotM as WvW – EotM is a champ/karma train map.
*Add random PvE map to WvW map selection – The idea is to remove all quests and NPCs and have a large PvP area to fight in.
These are just some of the areas that need work.
All these garbage thieves wanting to change DB that have no idea. Here is a tip for you. Thieves DO NOT have any cool downs on weapon skills. You can spam heartseeker (which a lot of you garbage thieves do anyways), cluster bombs, choking gas, unload, or black powder. The only cool downs are on weapon swap and utilities/elite. Find a combination that suit your play style (steal/cd/backstab/hs… or whatever) and run with it.
You have zero idea at to how powerful DB really is but you think that some how a new skill or revamped DB is going to make you better.
Considering you can spam your favorite skill over and over if you cannot come up with a combo/build as is, one new/revamped skill is not going to help.
Why is it that every couple weeks there is some kitten poor D/D thief with no skill comes and complains about my beloved Death Blossom. How they need more power D/D skills so they can one shot people. Here is a clue… thieves, unlike other classes, can use the same skill over and over, so you don’t need to specific weapon sets for power or condition damage. Fix yourself, L2P, before you try and fix the game.
- Devon is very busy with his job duties and only has limited time to devote to reading the forums. If he spent the time demanded of him responding to threads on the forums, his work would suffer. My job duties have me reading and reporting on the forums regularly to ensure that Devon and the rest of the team are aware of active concerns within the WvW community. I do this for other parts of the forum as well. As has been mentioned a multitude of times previously, our developers read the forums as much as they are able, but time prevents them from responding to everything they read.
Here let me fix this for you.
- Devon is very busy planning Season 3 which will be one bracket of all 24 servers for 26 weeks. He feels that will provide new and exciting matches like EB vs. TC vs. BG; plus it will allow him to say he provided content for the next 6 months. Additionally, he is working with the Living Story teams to ensure some of the story content makes its way into WvW so you don’t miss all the fun. He only has a limited time read and respond to forum posts but unfortunately he spends that time staring in the bathroom mirror working up the courage to face the mean and rude WvW posters. If he actually responded to a post he is afraid the vile WvW’rs would destroy what little remains of his self-esteem and his games of computer solitaire would suffer. We are aware of your concerns but you don’t buy as many gems as your casual PvE counterparts so we don’t care. If there is actually anything WvW related we are working on expect to see it with the $60 expansion pack because you were too cheap to buy gems. We will be posting a CDI on what you want in the expansion pack then pass it around the office and laugh as we are not going to do any of it.
There ya go….. fixed.

If you have no new information concerning “new” maps or expanding current maps, fixing bugs or exploits, fixing combat log to show condition damage, strategies to break up zergs, or any of the hundreds of recommendation from the CDI then don’t even bother talking.

Really simple question for a Dev. When is the “balance” patch going to be released. The patch that will change crit damage, update runes and sigils, add an additional sigil slot to 2h-weapons, profession balance changes and such.
I understand you have goals and testing to do. I am not necessarily expecting a specific date, although that would be great, but at least a general time frame.
It has been 2 months since you announced these changes. I would like to finish crafting ascended gear for one of my alts but i do not want to waste gold or materials on armor that will no longer work with a build.
I am not sure if you will release it during WvW Season 2 or not because you specifically stated no major balance updates during WvW Season 1 This would put the release in early June, over 4 months from when you announced it.
The only time-gate materials are the unrefined T7 ascended materials; Glob of Elder Spirit Residue, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, Spool of Silk Weaving Thread and Lump of Mithrillium. You can only craft one per day (resets at daily reset).
Dragonite, Empyreal, and Bloodstone are not time-gated. You farm, refine and craft as many Vision Crystals as you want. The limit for Vision Crystal is based solely upon play-time and number of characters. World bosses drop Dragonite and EACH level 80 character you have can receive it once per day. If one character farms every world boss they can receive between 279-345 per day. Same is for Empyreals from dungeons; 20 per dungeon path. The game itself has no built in timer for these materials.

I don’t think he was saying that they do for every week. It is just that this weeks match “seems” to favor NSP in every aspect.
what is interesting is a couple of hours ago NSP was in silver and then now magicly droped to even under us! thats kind of funny
I would watch out HoD. There is a lot of talk about Kaineng sandbagging but the truth is that just about everyone transferred. I would hate for some dev. to actually look at the number of transfer, current populations and think Kaineng doesn’t belong in Silver League; let’s bump them down and move the next one up. No facts/all conspiracy theory but….

I know Kaineng, as it is my current server. And yes I was bandwagoner that moved there when free transfers ended. This is not about the fall of the bandwagon server, that happened back in April/May. Kaineng was finally settling into it proper rank. We, as all server now, would get good weeks and bad weeks. But when they change to 3 leagues, guilds started leaving for other servers. (These are original Kaineng guilds) Upon seeing that there is no chance of getting out of Silver league basically all rest WvW guilds have left. A total of about 11-13 guilds have left.
It is not simply having a bad week. It is having a bad 2 months.

Kaineng will not be in Bronze league…it will be Silver league.
Who is responsible for “leagues” and it’s implantation? Random match-ups (or at least the amount of the variable) are bad enough. But getting stomped for 7 straight weeks, where is the fun in that?
Congrats to Devon Carver….killed a whole server all by himself.

Societal problem: People don’t want to work on their skills and tactics. People don’t want challenges. They just want to win, no matter how meaningless that win is.
Fighting 1v3, 10v15, 10v20, 20v40 are challenges. Fighting 20v60 or higher is not a challenge…it is a slaughter. And that is what waits for whichever server, HoD, Kain or NSP, for the next 7 weeks.
Don’t confuse being competitive with winning.
Oh, for the record, I think this weeks matches were rigged.
I’m pretty sure the perfect storm wouldn’t have put Kaineng and Henge of Denravi together.
Also, somehow the perfect storm is closing the gap between Northern Shiverpeaks and Kaineng?
Actually that is the best scenario. By matching Kaineng & HoD against higher rated EBay guarantees that one or both gain rating, there by blocking any intentional “tanking” of rating. If Kaineng tries to “tank” then HoD will gain rating and if HoD tries to “tank” then Kaineng will gain rating. Coupled with the fact that NSP got both of the lowest rated servers guarantees that they will lose rating.
So now it would take a coordinated effort by 4 servers to push NSP to Silver league. Kaineng and, HoD would basically have to stop playing for the rest of the weak and let EBay have everything. GoM and Anvil Rock would have to stop playing and let NSP have everything.
End result is NSP was handed the bronze league; either by RNG or inside manipulation.

I understand that server transfer costs are related to total population of the target server regardless of game modes played; PvE, WvW or SPvP.
But does the population totals for server transfer cost include “all” accounts or take into consideration those accounts that could be considered inactive (not played in months)?
TL/DR: It won’t hurt Devon to get “blownout” (people are acting like he is going to play all day every day….), nor will it shed any more light on WvW problems that the MOS Millennium isn’t already shedding, it will dmg NSP further, all the people suggesting they move up aren’t likely on NSP, and therefore could care less if the silver league destroys their server.
I agree with almost everything you except that “it will not shed any more light.” If I had any choice in the matter I would move Devon to Kaineng and make him play there since the damage to Kaineng is already done. About 8-10 WvW guilds have left since the announcement of leagues and 3 more are planning on moving soon. No, these are not bandwagon guilds either, all the bandwagon guilds left shortly after WM left Kaineng. These are original Kaineng guilds who for the past 4-5 months have had to deal with the fallout of a failed bandwagon and did so admirably.
MOS Millennium is great, metrics are great, stats and number are great. But if you do not see or understand what those mean in practice then they mean nothing. Having Devon play on the rank 15 server in Silver league, even for a limited time may just help him understand what a difference in 200+ rating points really means to matches. And perhaps, just maybe, help him adjust his priorities from WvW ranks and new buffs to the real issue; server and coverage imbalances.
If you still believe the Devon is playing attention to numbers, consider this what the original 2 tier league would look like today. (data: MOS 10/10/13)

Only 23 rating points separate Kaineng and NSP. Considering, over the weekend, 3 more guilds have decided to transfer off Kaineng should continue to drop. It will be interesting to see how NSP plays over the next 10 days.

I’ll say it….Kaineng is a dead server. We lost about 8-10 guild since the announcement of leagues.
As a compromise, I don’t see why they don’t make WXP (not ranks) account-wide like karma. Then you could earn WXP on your main and rank up an alt. This will allow people to play the character they want/need to and maintain Anet’s goal of individual character progression.
Ok…how about this for a solution.
Currently only ascended ingot/leather squares/planks and ascended inscriptions are tradable. Anet needs to make the weapon components tradable.
The last item would be the vision crystal which requires 500 dragonite/empryeal/bloodstone and 1 augur’s stone. Have Miyani, the mystic forge mystic forge merchant sell a “mystic” augur’s stone (at an increased price) that can be combined in the mystic forge to make a “mystic” vision crystal. Then mystic forge the "mystic"vision crystal, the weapon components and inscription to make your ascended weapon.
This would finally give crafters a way to make money, maintain a small time gate and ease the burden non-crafters.

To keep it short…nobody paid for TVB transfers but TVB members. We chose FA, we did not coordinate with FA, and were not bought by FA. We picked FA because there are friends and family on the server and we wanted a stable server, not another bandwagon server that will implode in two months.

To heck with down state, keep it or not, make no difference….get rid of rally. I am sick of having multiple people rally just because everyone is aoe’ing and one guy (usually underlevel) or some mob dies.
Ok…here is my build (D/D, Condition/Health Regen). But keep in mind it is gear oriented and expensive (or was before new event). Link is missing the new ascended apothecary back piece.
Use your stealth to gain regeneration, don’t use your heal (Sig of Malice) except under extreme circumstances and be patient. Stack your bleeds/poisons and weapon swap for extra health/bleeds. It is also good to get downed players up quickly.
I have try it with this variation of food buffs and blood lust sigil which does provide a quite a bit more power to the build.
Either way will keep you alive for a long time.

Question for WvW: Will you post ALL the up-coming WvW changes before Jan 28?
I don’t understand why you can’t provide a better explanation as to what WvW changes are coming. With free server transfers end on Jan 28 and "add a new motivation to the WvW domain that goes beyond the overall weekly score to give more short term reasons to be winning in WvW as well. " This is going to change WvW population levels on a very large scale. There are already many guilds talking of moving servers before the lock.
