Also, I’d add that if you have problems in the second zone (I did when I began) you can go to another starter zone and do that to get some extra levels.

Noob directions to getting to another starter zone (if you know this, just ignore – I don’t know just how new you are): Click the pvp icon at the top of your screen and select Enter the Mists button. You will zone into the lobby for PvP. Across from you will be a portal. Enter this and you will now be in Lion’s Arch, the central hub city of the game.

In Lion’s Arch looking straight ahead you will see a bridge. Cross it and off to your left you will see a circle of portals. These lead you to the various starter cities. I’d suggest either the human or norn zones. Both usually are well populated, making events easier to complete.

Even after playing for a while now I still start off by doing two starter zones. Getting higher in level makes everything a little easier and you don’t need to be as careful about what order you do hearts and stuff in later zones.

Does anyone else think it would be a fun idea to have a week every few months where instead of the usual ranked matchups we get a week of one day matchups similar to what we had at launch? I’m from Tarnished Coast and while I’m loving the matchup we’ve had for the last month or so, it would be nice to get some quick games in against servers we’ve rarely or never seen. These games wouldn’t effect the rankings, so while shaking things up a bit and providing world map finishers a great opportunity, this would also give our dedicated commanders an easy week if they wanted a break from the more Serious Business aspects of normal matchups. Anyway, just a thought.

Just managed to transfer to Tarnished Coast today at 8:15am EST, so keep your eyes open. It’s still possible to get on this server, even on winter break.

So much whining and rationalization. Is this what a tier 1 thread is all about? Anyone care to talk about what is actually happening in the matchup? That seems like it would be more interesting than this lame flame-fest.

This is what I ended up doing. I tried several times to roll an ele and each time I quit, annoyed by the stance dance. Finally I just leveled one by crafting and now that the attunement cooldown is a more reasonable length I’m actually enjoying the dance. It was just too annoying always trying to switch attunements and finding I needed to wait another 2-3 seconds. The base cooldown is just too long and much of the shortening is gated to mid/higher levels.

I love my elementalist (also playing something close to the tank D/D spec linked above), but I will admit that sometimes I’m in a tired and lazy gamer mood and load up my warrior alt. I can do almost anything I want with my elementalist, but it’s a pretty active playstyle and the warrior works just fine with very little effort.

Most of the time I prefer the elementalist. I just find it more fun to play.

There’s a few Norn hairstyles I’d love to have for my Human too.
