Hi all,
Sadly we’re not going to be able to launch the new episode “The Head of the Snake” on its intended release date today.
We were hit hard by the Seattle area storm and resulting power outage. We’ve been working to bring everything back online as quickly as possible, but after a series of setbacks, it’s become clear that it won’t be today.
Please accept our apology. We’re going to keep at it through the night and hope to be able to launch tomorrow, but obviously we can’t promise anything.

Thanks for letting us know! Stay safe. We <3 you all!
I love the update! The Shatterer is a lot of fun, and gliding in Central Tyria has saved me from many deaths. I really appreciate the Ranger updates too, especially that one skill that allows my pet to resurrect allies. Great job, everybody!
Whenever I go to a city or switch explorable zones, my Dragonhunter bow gets unequipped. I have the specialization equipped, and I can use the bow just fine, it just keeps getting unequipped.
Yay!!! I love Halloween!
I’m having a blast with the beta. So far, I’ve played a revenant and a guardian. The revenant was a bit tricky, since I didn’t have the first 79 levels to learn how to play it, but I think I’m going to love playing one when HoT is released. The tablet is a lot of fun and I love using the staff as a melee weapon.
The guardian, however, I was able to accomplish much more with. I love the dragonhunter. The new virtues make me feel like I’m helping my allies more. The longbow is fun, although I haven’t gotten to use it a ton, since I’m mainly sticking to Verdant Brink, and most fights end up in melee range.
I love how difficult VB is! If I’m not with a bunch of people and I get attacked by more than one baddie, I’m toast! I’m in for quite a learning experience when HoT comes out. :-) The environment is beautiful and I love gliding. And the smokescales make me mad in a way I haven’t felt since fighting the Stone Summit in GW1, so well done!
Oh and if you don’t make tigers charmable, you’ll make every ranger in Tyria cry.
Thanks for the beta! I can’t wait for HoT to be released! I <3 you all.
If someone blocks you, why should they be allowed to message you?
I feel like this is a flawed system. I’ve been blocked by trolls twice now and each time its happened they carried on sending abusive messages and laughing at the fact I can’t respond.
I don’t mind that they want to do this and are enjoying it, I just kept reporting them, but why should they be allowed to send messages to someone they blocked?
When using messaging apps such as WhatsApp and you block someone, you cannot message them unless you unblock them.
I know you can block them as well and I have done so. It’s just that it has been like this in guild wars 1 as well and to be honest I feel like it’s something that should have been implemented a long time ago.
I’ve also noticed that you can view the location of the person you blocked as well as if they’re online or not, which I feel like is too much information for this person you don’t want to have contact with in the game.
I feel like Anet should consider adding this in the game.
I completely agree. Blocking someone should shut down all forms of verbal communication within the game.
Gaile, I’d like you to hear from someone who thinks the game is amazing and isn’t lacking direction or goals or innovation, or fun. I play nearly every day and I love the Living Story. I’m having a blast with the Silverwastes and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next. I know the people who write the most on forums are the unhappy ones, and I wanted you to see something from a happy customer.
Is the link supposed to take you to the German version of the site?
Good luck with your new job. We’ll miss you!
Redjustice, I would be very interested in joining the Madcast guild. Thank you!
Hi! I’m looking for an LGBTQ-friendly, women-friendly guild on the Sanctum of Rall server. I’d like a guild where I won’t see kitten jokes in the chat and won’t be assumed to be inferior just because I’m a woman. No rep requirement would be nice. I’m helpful and friendly, play PVE, ankitten ot very good at dungeons, but willing to learn. I have an level 80 Sylvari ranger, and a level 30-something Norn mesmer. Thanks!
Thank you for the update Colin. Personally, I say take as long as you need to get it right.
I agree. I want this to be done right, especially since it’s the method I’ll most likely be using to get The Lover! And considering all the other stuff I need to do for The Dreamer, I’m in no rush to get my precursor. Take all the time you need!
As I said earlier, disable usage of the kit was the best thing we can do that wouldn’t involve a content change. Currently, content updates are on a monthly basis, to give our QA team time to go over any changes. Obviously, we do make mistakes like this bug, but we’re hoping that with the slower update schedule we can consistently put out much better updates. Your patience is appreciated, and I’m sorry for the wait.
How will we know when it’s fixed? Should I just keep checking back here, or will it be announced in some other way? I bought two boxes without realizing they were bugged.
I love Cantha! The lore was amazing, the environment was beautiful, and the armor was stunning. I’m so bummed you aren’t bringing it back! I was really looking forward to learning about the Luxons and the Kurzicks! Are they still fighting? Have they made up? I NEED TO KNOW!!! I’m really disappointed that you aren’t bringing it back. And I don’t understand the reasoning either? Why is any Asian suddenly taboo?
The home cities are so interesting, but they’re a pain to get to. If they were as easy to get to as Lion’s Arch, my human character would go to Divinity’s Reach to sell stuff and go to the bank. She has a lot of friends in DR, and she’d rather go there to see them and be in a familiar place, but she’s stuck going to LA, which is way too big for her. (My Sylvari, on the other hand, has gotten drunk one too many times and fallen to her death in The Grove, so she prefers LA for doing daily business, but she still misses the charm of her home city.)
I’ve seen many suggestions for how to implement easy travel to the home cities. Waypointing to your home could be free, you could have an object in your inventory that transports you there instantly, or you could have a skill that transports you there instantly.
I’ve only done a dungeon once, and it was very difficult, but the rewards were worth it. The difficulty put me off dungeons for a while, but I think I’m about ready to try it again.
I find it annoying too.
Same here, Nevets! I’ve had a few epic combos, but I can never figure out how to replicate them!
