Everybody knows we at VK have just been visitors to this tier. So what I’m about to say comes from somebody with no dog in this fight at all. I’m done for the night here and will be back on FA tomorrow.

SF, you’re kidding yourself if you think it isn’t your numbers making the difference. We’ve been able to hold your towers or anything else we want until you’ve been able to outnumber us by a minimum of a 2 people AND until we get bored and start charging in all willy nilly. You guys REALLY don’t want to be moving up tiers to servers with numbers anywhere near your equal because quite frankly your tactics are terrible and you’re just plain not good fighters.

Believe me, don’t believe me, whatever you like. Just my honest observation.

Fun time running around with VK on EB. Learned a lot too.

Zergball + combo fields + taking advantage of both together simultaneously….Great tactic if you can maintain the ball and coordinate….

Nothing new to us (other than the machine like execution of VZ), many of us have saw the Youtube vids, or saw it on other tiers, VZ does it extremely well.

WZ (on FC) had been experimenting with it for weeks, their problem (that I saw) was they were trying it in open field situations, it seemingly works much better in a closed/controlled environment like VZ had last night in Jerris.

Haven’t faced this enough to know for sure, but my theory is that if you break the ball you break the group. Focus mesmer pulls, mass fears, (yeah I know 3-4 guardians/warriors could counter with stab., but there are counters to everything) separate those people(s) from combo fields and each other and thin the herd so to speak.

That is what we did last night, a few of us went and dropped CC’s and AOE on them in the tower to force their squishier ones out, and control when they were leaving rather than have them sit and dictate when they moved.

Seemed to work much better, and again have no idea the best way to attack this, but I feel as though we will have MUCH fun figuring it out lol

I have to ask you something about that fight. Was that your entire online population of your server mustered against us in the end? You had a lot of bodies there!

Been having a blast with you guys in tier 8. I’m the giant Norn commander with Juggernaut that’s been smashing around EB all day. Can’t wait to play with you guys on reset.

Ah FA is the spawn campers. Take note tier 2 servers … They consider it fair play.

I consider it valid pay back for PVDing our towers and keeps at night and making me have to upgrade everything in the morning.

What I really don’t understand is Dragonband’s NNK guild. I mean, DB is a solid tier 3 server and as such there’s likely never going to be much coverage from any of the other servers in NNK’s time zone. Doesn’t it get boring having nobody at all to fight? Is there something about PVD I’m missing? I guess I’d get it if it made a difference, but score wise it really doesn’t. What’s the deal?

It’s not like we just took 60% of the map and then said “Nah, we’ll stop here for today”.

Just because FA can’t muster enough people to have anything more than a camp doesn’t mean all we’re doing is fighting doors.

If you check the score now, you’ll also notice we spent less than an hour above +600, so unless your point is that NNK is only online for 40 minutes a day, I really don’t understand what you’re proving.

(And we’ll completely ignore how +600 is not +695)

I’m not knocking you guys. It’s possible you like PVD and that’s fine. You bought the game the same as me and you’re entitled to do whatever you like.

Personally I just don’t understand it. FA desperately wants out of this tier because fighting DB and Yak or Mag feels a lot like PVD to us too.

I’m really not trying to be condescending. I also don’t believe your efforts are inferior to ours!

I am fully away that come prime time DB just doesn’t have the coverage to make things really interesting against us. DB absolutely has some skilled players. So do we. We both know you can’t say one side is better than the other because we’re not on even playing fields.

I think even you would have to admit that the tables turn during the South East Asian prime time. DB fields impressive numbers during that time and FA can’t offer any meaningful resistance. That doesn’t mean I think NNK doesn’t have skilled players. I’m quite sure they must have some! I never meant to imply otherwise.

It’s unfortunate that we haven’t been able to secure coverage in that timezone because it means we’ll bounce around between tier 2 and tier 3 getting face rolled in one and doing the face rolling in the other. Given the choice I think many of us would prefer to stay in tier 2, even if we’re the losing server time and time again. We don’t enjoy dominating week after week any more than you enjoy getting dominated week after week.

Yak/Maguuma/DB would be an excellent match I think. Very solid tier 3 servers with similar coverage in prime time that would be enjoyable for all. Unfortunately with there more or less being 4 tier 2 servers, one of them is always going to be in tier 3 tipping the balance.

You can say it’s futile all you want; meanwhile AoN is going to do what you aren’t interested in figuring out. You can tell from the excitement in our voices that contesting AoN was a big deal.

I play primarly in a very small guild in NA prime on servers that have a weak NA prime time slot. I also maintain a 12/1 K/D ratio which is respectable even if it isn’t particularly remarkable. So I am decent or better, I play in some of the tougher time slots and I am in the majority that believes significant numbers own pretty much anything.

I have been run over by RET’s large roaming packs somewhat frequently and I have fought AoN. Once a server like FA hits prime time and the opposing server cannot even field 6 players in EB, there is VERY little a small squad can do. They might take an objective or even repulse a superior force but that just brings a bigger zerg than the one that came before it.

We care about you caring about the score because it leads to lil zerglings culling around the map and lobbing golems at empty keeps instead of interesting pvp.

That’s a really good point. Maybe sometime in the future Anet will put in some sort of structured PVP system, other than WVW, where people can “prove” their skills without having to worry about elements like server population, zerg size or capturing and holding structures they’re not interested in!

One can only hope I guess.

The simple fact is on the whole YB needs to alot more numbers for this Tier, as when numbers in fights are relitively equal we generally come out on top of most of the fights.

That’s strange. It’s been my usual experience in the last three weeks that when not behind siege weapons in a keep, YB gets wiped more times than not in a straight up fight.

^That has been my experience as well. Thought it was a bit silly to see them post that a lot on the forums, but didn’t bother responding. Ironically, the only times they’ve wiped us is when they have more numbers. When the numbers are even, they don’t seem that different than say Darkhaven. I really like Maguuma since they did some interesting stuff with lower numbers when we fought them.

It’s interesting the perspectives that we have, guess alot of it depends on the the when that the fights take place, or perhaps where the fights take place. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying YB always comes out on top, just in my experiance it is more times than not.

Either way as long as the fights stay good we’re all having fun

Oh I’m positive the where and when play a large part in it. With 4 WVW maps to choose from and 24 hours in the day, things can happen very different from player to player.

Hopefully we’ll come head to head, sounds like it would be a blast. You can’t miss me, I’m the Mesmer that looks like a Necro, in black and red, spouting out Twilight wielding clones all over the battlefield!

The real question on everybody’s mind is if Yak’s is going to blow their biggest lead yet. Almost there!

Considering that Yak’s has very little EU/Oceanic presence, it’s not hard to predict that we will lose a lot of points during this time. Rocket science.

Oh, gotcha. When Yak’s is winning it’s because they’re better organized and when they start to lose it’s because you don’t have a presence! This totally explains why you lost several thousand points during prime time last night!

Many of my guild are on Atlantic or Eastern Time. I don’t have to work anymore so when I wake up at 8AM, I’ll often lead a bunch of raids before heading out for a run. I do the same thing in my early afternoon before the gym too. Is that nightcapping? I’m in North America, it’s morning and afternoon for me and my guys.

No, the explanation is simple really. TC and FA made pushes north on YBBL. Basic 2v1 nothing new really, taking on the smaller server no less. Hell, TC alone could probably turn that map green if they really wanted to.

You really expect YB to hold two fronts, especially when one server as populated as it is? Didn’t think so.

By the way, you can paint the bottom half of the map just as well as painting the left or right.

Sorry I should have been more clear. Only one server really is at capacity, at any given time, within this tier, to paint the bottom half their color.

I much prefer when YB and FA are within 1000 points of each other, because both teams are fielding lots of players and the back and forth has been a lot of fun.

The fighting going on between TC trying to take QL and FA defending it right now has been Epic! Some 10 seperate portal attacks fended off. Just a whole lot of fun for everyone.

I know it been a tough couple of weeks for all three of our servers though hopefully us TC’ers will move up to tier 2 soon so we can stop picking on you Yak’s and FA’s ;P

The chances are not high that TC will move up to T2 though it is a real possibility if IoJ loses badly in their match and we pull out WAY ahead in the score (still not likely.)

But good news FA! It looks like if you guys continue to implode in 3rd place—and CD keeps the dominating T4 score—then you guys may switch places! Then you can get your turn face-rolling that tier next week—since I am pretty sure you guys would easily dominate both EBay and Mag.

Could very well be. Although we were losing by several thousand points to Yak’s on Thursday and by Friday reset had pushed them down to Third so you never know.

If FA gets pushed to Tier 4, we’ll crush there again like we did last time. Yak won’t make ground on TC so FA will more than likely bounce back to Tier 3 the next week with a bunch more points.

As an FA player and commander I came to a realization tonight. I’m NEVER going to care enough about winning tier 3 to sit with 3 other people in an empty supply camp and watch Dolayks for hours on a Saturday night.

..which is an attitude more and more people on FA are getting, including me, although i’d like to add “that will get overrun by a zerg anyway” to the empty supply camp bit.

I care about winning. I have sat in a supply camp for 2+ hours while my teammates took first a tower and then bay. Any time there was an attack on it, I’d let my teammates know and they’d fall back to counter. Teammates even offered to relieve me, but I have dual monitors and Netflix. Battles are always available. I’d like to win the war instead.

Yeah I’m not hating. If you guys enjoy having a handful of thieves running around camps stealth just waiting for your zerg to show up, then all the power to you guys. It’s a great stratedgy and working really well for TC. Once thieves can no longer hold a camp stealthed, who knows how that will change. You might have to keep more people guarding the camps.

I’m just saying that from my point of view I play the game for constant fighting. There’s no prize for “winning the war”. Absolutely nothing at all. So for me, personally, spending even 15 minutes standing around hoping for action is just 15 minutes wasted.

There’s no gold medals for any tier. I just want to kill people not role play NPC guards.

Well after an afternoon first capping back our borderlands and then paying a little visit to Yak’s looks like we were pretty successful.
