There was a thread on reddit discussing the game graphic settings that I’m unable to find right now. It listed which settings were safe to max out without dropping FPS and which not. In addition to setting character models and numbers to low, turn off all reflections and post-processing. IIRC you could have shadows maxed but shaders low. Really don’t remember the rest of the post, sorry.
All GW2 maps have a water “base” and supposedly the game will render reflections for it even if there is no water actually shown.
I think this is the link Chaba is referring to on reddit;

Sorry for the newbie kind of question here….
I can download the curl zip file, no problem. But how do I actually install it?
You don’t. Copy the app to a folder directly on your C: or some other drive
Open a Command Prompt as administrator
Go to the drive/folder containing the CURL.EXE file.Run the command as mentioned. It will seem to do nothing. Then open your browser to the site specified.
Once completed there, you will see that the Command prompt window has text (see mine above your post).
Follow the rest of the instructions.
The zip file does not contain the curl.exe, it’s only the source code. You have to use the download wizard below the files and choose curl executable and choose your OS for it to compile the correct exe.

Having issues since yesterday with logging in with GW2. It keeps giving me the message (Connection error(s) detected…..retrying). I live in Missouri and have centurylink I’ve been trying all day so far today and nothing still. Does anyone know how I can fix the issue or if it will be resolved by Anet. Thanks
I also live in Missouri and have Centurylink. I posted in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/game-client-will-not-get-to-log-in-screen/page/3#post6322534 about trying different dns numbers for 3 hours. Centurylink had to of changed something on their end with their dns numbers, when any other dns numbers work not affiliated with Centurylink.
Just an update for those on CenturyLink, in Missouri. I tried several different dns numbers, whether it was Centurylink, embarq, qwest and none seemed to work. I switched to different dns numbers not associated with Centurylink, embarq, qwest and it now works. If you switch to google, opendns or any other dns that are close to your area, you should be up and running. After testing this for the last 3 hours, I’m concluding that it is on Centurylink side.

As stated in previous posts, the only thing working for me is using Gw2-64.exe -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80
Post on page one lists others that may work as well until there is a fix between CenturyLink and Anet
If you are still having problems, try adding this to your GW2 Shortcut Target:
-assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80
Here is a list of alternatives to also try:
194.25.94.170:80
174.35.71.9:80
151.249.90.199:80
93.188.135.37:80
62.154.232.194:80
You can do this by right clicking on your GW2 Shortcut and adding the above text to your Target field. For example your target should look like this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80

Thx Gaile for the reply, but can’t you just post what the quick and easy process is for everyone, so we don’t have to spend hours on the phone with tech support. : )
Or would a fellow Centurylink user that contacted them, please post the quick and easy process. Thank you fellow gamer.
Fair enough. But, here’s the bit: I don’t know your region, and I am not sure of your provider (That’s the generic “your” not you specifically.)
What I’d like to suggest is that players who have found a work-around please post here. Share your Region and your Provider name, so that people across the country, with a different provider, don’t find themselves trying pointless measures.
So like this:
- My provider is: [name]
- I am in [state] or [city, state]
- This is what I did to work around this problem
Thanks for sharing. We appreciate it!
Lol thx Gaile
I’ll start it
Provider CenturyLink
State Missouri
Have tried dns flush as suggested in another thread that contacted CenturyLink, didn’t work
Restarted router, didn’t work
WvW reset in a couple of hours, come on players, gonna need my WvW tonight.
Thank you

Yes, this just happened to me. But it’s not just the ranger. My husband and I play together, it happened to him also, he plays a warrior. Sent in a ticket.
