I dropped cleansing Ire from my build because of blinds, I mainly fight zvz
Wouldn’t touch it as a GS warrior.
I’d love some heavy wood / bark type armour as heavy armour for sylvari. It could be really rough looking in parts and polished wood on others, with thick vines or moss sort of filling in the gaps between parts. The helm could have some cool antler looking branches.
Nothing light or weightless looking about it, it should look thick and heavy, and old. IMO!
I always thought it was some type of crystallized tree sap. But I don’t think it’s ever been said anywhere.
I’m running berserker armor with 6/6 melandru and then a mix of soldiers and knights jewelery. Seems to be working ok so far. I used to run soldiers armor with 6/6 soldier.
This is with hammer main and GS for mobility.
Hammer on guardian is an impressive weapon (I used it on my guardian and love it).
Though I don’t think comparing weapons between 2 classes has much point.
Instead your post should focus on where you see flaws in the warrior and how they use the hammer, and then post suggestions for improvement.
You’ll see people have already done this and it has come across as more constructive.
Use a gun for this fight and stop firing when he is spinning. Your group should be only killing the protection totem.
Things I have noticed in dungeons: (just remember they could be wrong.)
Sometimes it seems whoever the boss “sees” first they will mainly stick to them.
Sometimes it seems whoever stays “in their face” the most they will attack
Sometimes it seems that high toughness or vitality, will prompt the boss to attack that person over others. Though it depends on vicinity.
I’ve just made these observations over many dungeon and fractal runs.
You can also craft them if you have the appropriate profession; alternately guildies tend to be nice enough to craft things for free if you give them the mats.
You can’t craft Rabid stats the same way you can craft Knight’s for example.
What an odd bug, my skills have been fine :S
As a PVE Thief, I am unquestionably nudged out of my role as a melee damage dealer. Warriors out-class us in every way. It sucks.
Warriors using a greatsword, specced as berserker, wearing full berserker gear out damage your melee thief (which is not the ideal pve settup for thief).
Does every class with every weapon with every spec need to all do the same amount of damage?
Lets be a bit more realistic here…..The HB and warrior you guys are all complaining about is only a problem in one path of one dungeon. There is never a time or place that such a warrior is wanted outside of this.
COF P1 is something that should of been made harder long ago, you could take 5 engineers and still blast through it in no time, that a warrior happens to have what is needed to make it slightly faster isn’t a reason to nerf a skill.
Make this thread again after COF P1 isn’t so popular and see if people still think HB needs to be changed.
Almost every WvW build I see with the hammer simply just uses earthshaker to jump in, backbreaker to stun their single target and HB him to death. IDK bout you guys but thats not the playstyle I want with my hammer. I want to keep it wielded and pound on them with it, not use a crappy GS
Alternatively, almost every WvW build I see uses hammer as the main weapon and GS for the mobility.
I WvW in Tier 1 and our guild focuses on destroying zergs, if I stop moving for HB to channel I will die before it even finishes.
I agree that hammer could benefit from some minor tweaks in cool down times. Staggering blow is a bit odd, the only situation I use it is when multiple enemies are reviving and we don’t have AOE damage on top of the down guy yet. Would love to hear what other situations people use it in, i’m just not getting much use out of it.
I guess ultimately this post brings into question if every weapon needs to be good in each environment (PvE, PvP, WvW). Hammer definitely works in WvW.
Hey mate,
A few things:
I’d ditch the mace/shield for leveling up. Press “o” to open up the trading post and buy yourself a level appropriate axe if you want to keep the shield, or a greatsword if you aren’t fussed. Just that alone you’ll probably have a much easier time.
If you press the little arrow above your number 7 skill you’ll see you can assign abilities to that number, that’s another skill you can use in combat that will help you.
You aren’t really using your abilities at the right time either.
Mace can be a bit tricky for a new player in my opinion, but just have another good read of the tool-tips.
Another tip is that you are turning using the keys and not the mouse hold down right click to control the camera along with W to move forward and you’ll be able to move quicker.
The TAB key will cycle through targets as well to make picking a new target snappier. Just need to be a bit quicker on the movement as well. There is gaps of like 5 seconds where you just stand there getting hit on.
Hope this helps.
I try to be over 3,000 armour. Everyone will give you a different answer
You only really get 1 per hour just killing mobs anywhere, even with MF.
I agree with you OP.
It looks great on females, but it just isn’t “Heavy” enough for me. The gloves are great as they are bulky solid looking things, i just wish the rest of the set followed that design.
When I think heavy armour and sylvari I think of solid, wood based design. Like a huge, old oak tree.
This set could be passed off as a light armour!
Not saying it’s bad looking btw
I like those really solid looking wood armour. Wish they did sets themed like that for heavy armour, tier 3 heavy doesn’t look solid at all except for the gloves :P
I went for the offhand mace as well. Pretty effective weapon
The blade only appears when you draw the weapon?
Hey,
The blade is always visible, it just doesn’t appear properly in the preview screen because it’s a special texture (blue sap/glass effect)
Well I think the biggest point of contention here is that the conjure is a not-weapon.
This.
Most people will agree Hammer could use a little love. You just went preaching it the wrong way.
Still wonky. I stopped using them though!
If you know the bosses and how the instance works, full DPS is fine.
As a more “solid” warrior than a full DPS, I have to agree. It comes down to knowing the boss and the dungeon you are doing more than what spec you are really…
Cheapest/Easiest way to get gear is the Trading Post. Put in buy offers for gear you want. Generally you’ll want “Draconic” gear to start with. Mix of Valkyrie and Knights stats might work out for you.
If you don’t have gold go complete the 3 orr zones + frostgorge sound and sell the exotics you get from zone completion, make sure you gather everything you see while doing it.
In regards to builds …. you should be able to work it out, you are using a greatsword so naturally skills that augment that will be desired. Just keep trying stuff and see what works, respecs are only 3s from the trainer. That way you’ll actually learn a bit about the class and how you want to gear as well
Nope, no changes. You probably just known how to play the game better now, than when you first started.
Well if they nerf the top burst I guess my tankiness is going to be more effective :O
Alright, I’m going to help you out here, ‘cause I’m a nice guy.
What you need to do is go to gw2db.com
Search the dye you want to see on your preview armour
Once you select it, you’ll see in the top right a text box that says “Chat Link”
It will be a code like this [&AgGGTwAA]
You cut/paste those codes into your chat box and you’ll be able to right click them and preview the dye with your current previewed armour.
You’ll be able to sorta figure out how the armour will look once you have it and dyed how you like.
my glass cannons
Saw this and realised it was a post not to be taken seriously.
Thanks Ramethzero, I didn’t know that….
Trolls aside …. like I said they could make it more luminescent, any form of flame would just be ridiculous.
It doesn’t burn because it’s a plant… it would look silly with fire coming out of a plant based weapon. I guess they could make the glow more luminescent.
I put in a ticket to try and bring it to their “attention” but I think I just got an automated response unfortunately. Hoping this get’s fixed one day!!
Always so much confusion over cultural weapons
Tier 1 = Glyphic, not unique, looks like asuran weapons……
Tier 2 = Verdant, not unique, looks like bright green and blue leafy weapons, can be found as random drops in the world, or bought for like 1s on the trading post.
Tier 3 = Warden, these ARE unique, can only be bought from the Tier3 cultural weapon merchant in The Grove. Thorny/Blue Glass appearance. This is what you want to buy.
You need a fine transmute stone from the Black Lion Trading Company to change the appearance on your Berserker’s Pearl Sabre (which does indeed look ugly!!)
Why didn’t you check the combat log?
I got mixed opinions.
I don’t like the full T3 set. It doesn’t look heavy enough. When I was thinking of a heavy plant I was thinking of some solid wood kind of gear! I like the gloves (let’s ignore the graphic glitch) and I like the style of the helm, I just think it should be a full face helm so you can’t see your face.
The rest is meh imo, thankfully T2 looks pretty good so you can mix and match the parts you like!
Alright it hasn’t crashed on 295.73.
A bit weird that EVERY other driver crashes me.
Something must be wrong here, wish there was an easier way to find out!
Yeah I’ve read that before.
Tried a lot of those things already.
Is there a way to test a PSU with software? I really doubt it, but just thought to ask. I don’t have a second one
Inside my case is spotless, it has really good air pressure so none gets in.
I cleaned the filters on the bottom fans just to be sure, the temps haven’t really changed much though.
295.73 has been running fine for the last 3 hours so far.
Pretty sure I tried 291.10 and it locked up my PC instead of those crashes.
I’ve installed 295.73 now, and yes i’ve re-seated GPU/Memory as well.
99.9% sure it’s not related to power. It’s a newish corsair and those things are solid.
Hrm I wouldn’t say same problem. My graphics look fine, not artifacts, screwed up textures or anything really. It even “runs” fairly well with a decent FPS at all times. Just these black screens are killing me ;P
UAC disabled with 306.97 was a no go.
I never run any other programs when I’m troubleshooting, either.
I’ll give the UAC thing a go I suppose with 306.97.
I’ve done the whole directX thing when I re-installed windows.
Hi Alpha,
Just the usual event which occurs when this happens:
“Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.”
Using MSE, UAC is on and I’m running the GW2.exe as admin.
306.23 crashes as well
took 2 hours, but it happened eventually!
I would stay away from 310.33 been a buggy beta driver. Try reverting it back to 306.97. Also have you tried vsync or limit your fps?
Hi mate,
Yep, done both of those and still crashed.
I’ll try a 306 driver again and see how it goes
computer restarts when playing GW2 for short time

Mine was doing that as well till I installed new drivers. (and instead of restarting the drivers would just crash now …. so still unplayable).
So many people reporting crashes after the last few patches. sigh.
Good points Gimek.
To test this out I ran MSI Kombustor (GPU test) and I picked 3 tests and they all ran through to the end fine. I then went into GW2 till it crashed (only about 10 mins of running around!!) then started up MSI Kombustor again.
This time I couldn’t get a single test done, they all crashed about a minute or less in. GPU remained at an acceptable temp the whole time.
To me a slight increase was 5 then 10mhz on the core clock.
A decrease was putting it back to what a non-factory GTX 580 is.
Both didn’t seem to do anything to resolve the problem.
Well I tried slight over-clocks and that didn’t do anything either.
Hi Serena,
I’ve got a MSI card. It’s already factory OC’d, but I guess I can try it.
Under-clocking had no effect.
