Few things that may or may not have been addressed already:
- shoulders, especially on females, will float so far above the actual body that it looks downright comical
- back pieces- pretty much the same problem as shoulders, and affects both genders (moreso on skinnier charr)
- When unloading dual pistols with the engineer toolbelt skills (charr racial- hidden pistol toolbelt version) the pistols shoot straight at the sky. 100% reproducable so it’s not some random bug, it’s a verified glitch.
- Tails clip through everything, even cultural armor with the tail-hole designed in (although mildly)
- Headpieces rarely ever fit charr properly, they are either awkwardly stretched, clip (especially on ones that cover eyes like the aetherblade skin- medium). They also don’t fit properly at the bottom such as hooded pieces (sometimes they float off at awkward angles and even though they may be part of a set they don’t look like it because of that)
- When wearing a helm that might not cover the whole back of the head/neck area, any hair or decorations are removed so it looks as though the charr has no head-hair (not the same as base fur) at all. I know this happens to other races sometimes too, but it’s much more prominent on charr since the hairline is so long and we have many available decorations that actually appear in the neck area rather on the head.

As the title says…I had enough of this…even the cultural t3 light armor, which was designed(???) for charrs clips the tail. You made a beast race, yet you totaly forgot about them, most of the cultural armors are okay, but nearly every other armor clips. Why? Why is this so hard to fix? I love this race the most but this tail clipping issue makes me sick.
When its comes to armors..Ppl actually are sick of the limited armor varienty for charrs, tons of them has clipping issues mostly with tail, helemts which hides horns and such..Yet the new armor..also has clipping issues and no hole for tail at all.
Do they completely don’t care about charrs? What was the point in making them playable race if they don’t care about them. Is making a single hole for tail is too much work or something? For me with new armors they actually proved that we won’t ever see current armors made properly for us.
Now we know for sure why we cant get proper looking armor, Its not worth it. Oh guess I will have to keep my human stretched out gear for my multiple Charrs.
The stance of the charr is just fine! Making them more upright just adds to the feeling of “puuting a cats head on a human body”… The charr straighten when they are being formal.
What is not fine is how many of the armours and other things behave on the charr – THAT is what needs to be fixed.
We are Charr and we will never give up mour existance because of some non-fitting armour! But we would very much apriciate having fitting, good looking armour and gear!!

Watch your charr’s animation while inactive and out of combat. Sometimes they stretches and stands more upright for a second. I predict, you will find they are looks just awesome this second.
My main is an Asura, but I also love Charr and I agree that the felines need more attention! Can a non-Charr race support this?

Except the majority of the posters in this thread, and the plethora of Charr and other races voicing their opinions in their specific race forums. Also everyone who participated in the Charr Armour rally in Lions Arch a month or so ago…

Living Story updates don’t change the fact that new armours are constantly being worked on, (different teams and all that) we are simply suggesting that those people take the extra time to make sure it fits Charr and if possible, build armours that suit the culture of races other than humans sometimes in the future.

As I have been reading from many people now, even with the small changes to the super legendary sword Eternity most owners of the sword are quite underwhelmed. Let me tell you I have been playing this game from release, and for me to just finish this weapon and see the exact same look of sunrise and twilight just kinda makes it seem less legendary than having sunrise and twilight separate. Yes the foot falls were nice, but having black fire and black footprints while wielding sunrise in the daytime looks very weird at least for me. I have to say I would expect no less from Anet seeing their fantastic art team to create an entirely original skin for the much neglected Eternity. I mean its name is Eternity for petes sake! That name alone cries out for its own unique look. So what I have done tonight is create my own idea of how I would love Eternity to look. I hope you Devs take a good look at this post and I especially hope they like my idea and use it in the future for Eternity. If you guys like my rendition of Eternity Bump this post and leave comments so that the devs can see and maybe take it into consideration The file is attached to this post, tell me what you guys think
P.S. don’t comment about other legends needing attention, in my opinion all legendary’s are fine, I am only disappointed with Eternity simply because it is the only one of a kind super legendary in the game..you work for 2 which is ALLOT of work and you get what you already had only you are at the beck and call of night and day..to me eternity is a step down from sunrise and twilight in its current state.

Firstly, I agree, and support this thread.
Now, Brew, have you seen the various armour on Asuara? There is NOTHING that does not look perfect on those critters. Even humans feel neglected to the amount of attention those little guys get. Believe me. Its absurd.
WE CHARR WANT MORE LOVE! A nice start would be helms that do not destroy our horns, and leggins that have holes for our tails.
I’m stunned at what was said during the panel when someone asked about charr armor and if it will get fixed. Basically, they care most for humans and least for lesser played races (charr).
I hate playing humans, yet it is the race I have the most of BECAUSE of the neglect every other race gets. This never ending cycle won’t fix unless they pay attention to the other races for once.
If Anet doesn’t care about charr then how the hell are we suppose to?

At this point I’m more sad than angry about charr armor always being glitched. If they can’t fix severe problems like connection issues, server speed, infamous camerawork, sound working only when it feels like it, unresponsive controls etc. that cripple the game since the launch, then I don’t think they’re gonna pay any attention to our model issues. Yet with every update I hope they’d fix maybe one of many problems with the proud, strong, fluffy and clearly unfinished charr race, but all I see is adding more bugs and glitches to a list that’s been only growing since the first beta. I don’t want a new content if the character I’m playing that content has a tail going right through her coat, shoulderpads permanently disabled since level 20 becouse they look like a joke, paws clipping through shoes, weapons floating around her like satelites around a planet and armor clipping through the body in every possible and some impossible places. ANet’s response, or more lack of it, shows that they’re in their own world, ignoring almost all the feedback and adding new features often nobody wanted. Are they even aware they running a huge MMO game, not a piece-of-art independent title? You have my voice on the matter and my +1 but I highly doubt any of this is going to change for the better.
TL;DR I’m sick and tired of lack of reaction to the problem. But since it like that with every problem of this game, it’s probably not getting any better.
I agree with everything here. If they changed the Charr to the way they looked too in the concept art I think ArenaNet would see a lot more people playing them. They look super kitten in the concept art!
yeah, The charr need indeed some fixing like clipping, on the ears, tails and horns. most of the armor don’t fit on a charr
I don’t think most charr players are demanding a redesign, but just some consideration. It doesn’t take that much thought by the artists to add ear and horn holes in new helmets for charr, or a tail hole for pants. It’s really not that hard, ANet.
If the video linked in the first thread linked by the original poster is to be believed (A Response To Charr Armor), it would appear even that is too much.
I’ve almost exclusively played charr for a year making do with the very scant armor choices I’ve had, but for ArenaNet’s own art director says out loud on a Q&A panel that the needs of charr players aren’t as valuable because fewer people play them makes me look at the whole game and the whole company in a different way. It ceases to be merely a matter of the armor for an entire race being lazily slapped together and becomes more a matter of a jaw-dropping lack of respect for the players in general.
And don’t ask that this thread be moved to the charr forums, as no one will see it there. People know life is rougher for charr players, but they need to know why. I’ve talked to players about this who exclusively play humans and even they this isn’t right. So if you have friends who don’t even play charr nor do they plan to, they should at least know that the issue with charr armor is just a symptom of ArenaNet considering their player base in the same way one would consider livestock. I know that’s par for the course for huge companies, but if ANet is going to pretend to value their customers, they should at least make a more convincing show of it.
Though it’s been stated and re-stated, what we want isn’t for charr to be treated like special snowflakes while everyone else gets neglected, (and if that IS what you want, that’s a bit unreasonable) because then we have the same problem, just reversed. But I don’t think it’s at all unreasonable to want all players to have the same access to armor skins (amongst other things) regardless of what race they chose to play. Yup, that means doing something about asura helms and boots.
The worst thing is that they don’t seem to notice the loop they’re creating. By ignoring the charr, they make the race less appealing to those who might otherwise be interested in playing them, thus lowering the charr player population percentage and…using it as justification to ignore the charr further.
As said before, almost all of my characters are charr, but if, hypothetically, I found out that humans were getting short-changed and neglected because they have a smaller player base, I’d be very uncomfortable with that. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who thinks this way. More people need to know. And more people need to speak up.
I can’t believe in the livestream they actually said that Charr get less attention because we’re the least played race. Basically saying “yeah those clipping and other issues will be ignored because we gotta focus on humans being pretty since most people play those.”

Ok, just to show off my support for this general topic, I’ll try to post my basic suggestion I made in the german forum also here translated as good as I can into English. I’ll shorten it down to just the most important parts and expanded here with some extra ideas
Players as also Guilds should have the option to craft their very own Ships.
Ships should be used in several different ways:
1) As instanced transportation feature to let us travel between either continents (From Tyria to Cantha for example now), or to travel to explorable Sea Map Parts, as the Map has alot of empty sea parts, where even no islands are, where content wise could exist either only underwater content in form of like Quaggan Villages, Ship Graveyards or diferent kinds of Underwater Dungeons that are truly missing in this Game so far.
I want to see the map of Tyria truly being explorable to 100%. I definetely don’t want to se a World Map like in GW1 again, where mostly like 70% was just lame unexplorable filler and only the other 30% explorable. GW2 should be so, that everythign we can see on the map, should be also explorable and this should also include the sea parts, even if its harder to think up interestign content for these kidns of areas. But there comes also ships into the game and the second feature, that you provide to us
2= NAVAL BATTLES on the Seas, all those spots where Arenanet wouldn#t come up with Underwater Dungeons, quaggan Villages or whatever, these map parts would be used for Naval Battle Maps with different themes (Stormy Sea, Sunny Sea, Cold Sea and so on)
Naval Battles could work with similar gameplay mechanics as the game has them already within WvWvW.
Every Ship would have a CAPTAIN. Captains would work exactly like Commanders do work in WvW. Captains organize their ship crew on deck of their shiff, they navigate the ship, while the ship crew on deck fights against monsters and enemies like pirates, that try to conquer the ship.
Captains would have following 10 Support Skills:
1) “Set on Sail!” (“Stecht in See!”)
This skill will temporarely increase the Movement Speed of your Ship Crew, allowing for quicker Cannon Shots, repairings of the damaged ship as also makign it possible to quicker set the sails so that the Captain can quicker navigate the ship.
2) “We will keel you!” (Wir werden euch Kiel holen!)
This skill will temporarely increase the maximum power of the Cannons and their maximum shot distance.
3) “All Clear Ship!” (“Alles Klarschiff!”)
This skill will temporarely increase the maximum defense of the ship and give the Ship Crew stability, so that incoming cannon hits won’t knockdown your crew.
4) “Praise the Sea and hold at Land!” (Lobet das Meer und haltet an Land!)
Makes the ship temporarely invulnerable against attacks from big sea monsters of any kind.
5) “Provisions against Scurvy!” (“Proviant gegen Skorbut!”)
Heals the Ship Crew, also curing Burning, Poison, Blindness and Cripple giving them additionally Regeneration, Vigor and Protection for some short time.
6) “Now we fire full Broadside!” ("Jetz feuern wir volle Breitseite!)
The next 5 Cannon Shots will let all Cannons fire at the same time, thus increases the maximum precision of these shots enabling a much higher chance for critical hits.
7) “The Silence before the Storm!” (“Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm!”)
Protects temporarely the ship against environmental weather effects that could damage or slow down the ship, like huge tidal waves or thunderstorms.
8) “Land in Sight!” (“Land in Sicht!”)
The captains radar range will increase, makign it easier for him to navigate the ship around dangerous points, like coral riffs, sharp rocks. Also enemies will be detected from wider distance, when this skill is active for the moment.
9) “In Front of the Wind is good Sailing!” (“Vorm Wind ist gut Segeln!”)
This Skill will temporarely increase the maximum movement speed of the ship that the ship can reach, if the ship crew has set up for their captain all sails to maximum.
10) “The Captain leaves the Ship last!” Elite (“Der Kapitan verlässt das Schiff zuletzt!”)
The Elite skill, that will greatly buff the captain as last man standing, if the ship crew got totally beaten. He is then the last chance for the ship to rally as with every kill from a captain will rally up a dead crew member.
So, thats just my basic ideas about Naval Battles.
Maybe one of you here has suggestions for improving the skills I made up here, or in geenral for naval battles, ship crafting ect.
