not sure which i5 you have but if you can overclock your blk mhz lets say its at 100mhz to 105mhz or higher then hit the highest multiplier you can you will get a larger performance boost then just going multi when in doubt overclock dont waste on a new mobo/cpu

What to expect from i7 4770K?

I have a 1K PSU because it’s a Rosewill Lightning. It’s got all sorts of neat lighting on it and the cabling is great, not to mention I have two 7970s, 2×2TB HDD and SSD along currently with a 125 watt processor. Giving dat headroom. I read that the intel i7 4770K has around 50+% more single threaded performance so going off that compared to my current FPS, I can see an increase happening. I also plan to try and crank the i7 up to 4.5GHz at least. (plus the 1K was a steal at 180 dollars)

ya but the thing is you want double float precision to be better for gaming as its going to be working on the render of the scene , single isn’t as important and tbh is why a 8350 from the last time i was on gw2 would destroy intel cpu’s this is pre haswell mind you and im sure the game has had several updates since but your honestly not going to see any improvement playing most games. Then the fact next gen systems are using amd hardware id stick with amd hardware since they will be better optimized for games in a year or two a 4770k is a big waste of money you could put that $600-800 towards a lot of other pc gear and what kind of motherboard is with your 8350 , if you were dead set on upgrading wait another year or so for amd to release new cpu’s its about time for them to upgrade anyway waste of money for a 4770k

When Does DX11 + Nvidia Patch Come Out?

I never saw any announcements that they were going to have a DX10+ patch/version on release day. I saw announcements that said “after release”.

“I know for a fact that a team of nvidia engineers went to your facility a couple weeks pack to help you guys fix this?” Again, where are you getting your facts?

I run an nVidia card in my subpar rig and the game is both playable and looks nice. I don’t get 60fps but I don’t need to since the human brain processes about 24fps into fluid motion.

the whole fps thing is how many frames are being rendered games dont output frames exactly the same as something like a movie which does only run at 24p because the human eye and brain cant really tell the difference after that because an effect of motion blur happens anything past 60 thats why they have tv’s with “true motion” to help fix this blur you will see from anything moving to fast for either your eye or monitor/tv to catch up to . and a game with 60fps will look great a movie with 60fps will look like kitten

Forcing your own Anti Aliasing(AA) in game

Requirements Nvidia inspector, and this aa compatibility bit (0×00401044).
The attached image will show you where to put this using this bit which is for la noir , this actually works better then the original one given(0×00401240). Using this you will now be able to force super sampling instead of just multi alone , highly suggested to set in game rendering to native and fxaa off then play with the settings or it will either come up as a black screen or be so blurry or bright you wont know what to do with yourself.

How to fix glowing textures?

I’m at a loss as to what is causing this. It seems to happen randomly, regardless of what video settings I use.

http://imgur.com/a/55x0F

glowing objects or textures is a result of anti aliasing or a boom post process effect being rendered through and on the texture this is usually but that looks like you have something else running try turning down post processing to a lower setting

Blurry Character Rendering

I’m having an issue with the character rendering graphics being blurry. I haven’t had any issues with the graphics for the past few weeks, until today. I have the most up-to-date drivers installed on my computer, and regardless of the graphics options from the in-game menu, the character rendering is still blurry. And it only seems to be the characters, both NPC and Players, but not the environment. Performance-wise, the game runs and plays fine, but I find the blurry graphics to be bothersome.

I have already submitted a support ticket in-game but was curious to see if I was the only person having this issue. And, if there is a fix for the issue I’m having. I posted some screenshots below, including my computer specs.

throwing a random guess if i read that right your using integrated graphics and the cpu is is at 2.8ghz ? its probably struggling to load the game textures and render them quick enough cant image the texture and pixal fill rate on that would be very fast

GTX 670 fps drop when turning

I was just wondering if this is normal and happens to most people, or if it is a problem with my system. I have pretty good performance in PVE zones, but a lot of times when I turn the camera quickly, my fps takes a huge drop, causing some noticible stuttering, as its dipping below 30 fps.

Here is my system specs:
i7 930 at 4.0 ghz
GTX 670
12gb 1600 ram
Crucial m4 256gb ssd

Are the fps drops while turning just something that needs to be optimized in the game, or is it something with my system? Thanks in advance for any help or tips.

you can try setting the game to pre-render 4 scenes on the cpu instead of the default this helps me also let your game sit a min and get up to the clock speed needed this helps me to wait 20secs or so when i first load into the world

Where are you getting low performance and how low is “low”? Also, whatever you do, don’t force AA unless it is SMAA or FXAA. Any real anti-aliasing lags a ton. If you use FXAA, don’t use sweetfx, and if you use sweetfx, don’t use FXAA in game. Try turning off supersampling too because you won’t notice it when using sweetfx or fxaa.

its a $500 graphics card and roughly $300 cpu like they (devs) have said its not optimized yet so with $800 im really getting the same performance of a low end cpu/gpu config. Then there is a lot of ppl who have the same issue i had lag spikes. so i thought maybe ill post how i fixed it ,fxaa should be ran with another aa anyway unless you like how it blurs the image (msaa/smaa work great for this unless u can run txaa)

I was opening this topic to see how many poelple are using this combo on this game and what are the results . The reason being is i will have setup up and going very soon and would like to get a little heads up about issues and such before hand.

I also want to point out i run a ati hd6970 gpu. The cpu and gpu will be liquid cooled with insane overkill liquid cooling setup hd 6970 is overclocked to max allowed by bios within card 950mhz on core and 1450mhz on ram 100% stable and cpu will be overclocked to around 4.6ghz x8. I am trying to find out how well this setup will do ram will be 2400mhz kingston hyperX beast ram 16gb and hardrive will be ssd ocz vertex 4 128gb is there going to be any major issues with this game.

I play game now with the same hd6970 oc’ed now and amd phenom II 955be oc to 3.7ghz x4 and well everyone says i am bottlenecked by cpu so i am upgrading and upgrading bigtime dont chime in should have bought intel i despise intel fanboys intel is way over rated and amd if setup properly run very close to intel near same lvl of performance / price and amd is alot better bang for buck.

per core amd performs better in theory but for cpu calculations per thread that is available amd cpu’s severally fall behind on intel due to it treating the logical cores as a physical core using hyper threading look at benchmarks on the game almost every amd cpu gets low fps compared to low end dual core intel cpu’s its how they handel the data being sent has nothing to do with fanboyism

As its stated gw2 is cpu heavy , i own a i7-3770 and i still get stutter while playing at random my gpu is a msi lightning 680 the highest factory overclocked 2gb model. I still get low performance how i fixed this im sure has been stated is to force the priority of the exe file to high do not set to real time it could crash your system or lock your self out from being able to use input devices as they are now lower priority and your cpu may not be able to process what its saying. This will increase cpu heat, this helped little now the next part.If you own a high end cpu and a gpu thats at least a mid level card go into what ever control panel for it you have find a setting for set max pre-rendered scenes its best to normally set this and keep it at default as thats what the game is designed to play on,helps fix a whole lot of issues that can occur. On my system setup i forced this to the highest setting i can put 4 is normal for nvidia, inspector has a setting of 8 idk if this actually does anything needless to say it stabilized my framerate and i no longer have issues of random lag spikes i would without these settings.

In game settings maxed , also running forced aa through control panel with sweetfx if this helps tell you anything , the game runs exactly the same without aa or sweetfx i still get lag spikes without fixing priority and scenes being rendered

Computer FPS issues, should be better.

Hello fellow guild wars 2’ers, i got a problem with my framerate. It is 20 outside and 9 fps in the big city of the scarr. I got everything on low and everything disabled that improves the graphic. But my pc should perform much better? I bought him 2 months ago and its a custom pc for gaming. Drivers are up to date. this is my diag:

whats your gpu model like link the amd page from their website for this cause your cpu should be fine to play this game there is very little difference between that and the lower end quad fx series a mb higher in l3 cache maybe

GPU Upgrade or new PC?

Hello everyone.

I happen to have a small amount of money avilable and I was thinking of using it to get my machine up to date. As of right now I’m seeing around 20 fps in pve on low-med graphics settings. On big WvW skirmishes I have to get all settings to low to achieve a “playable” rate of fps.

I dont know too much when it come to hardware so I thought maybe some of you could help me.

Comp Info (taken out of dxdiag):
CPU – Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
OS – Windows 7 32bit
RAM- 4gb
GPU – NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT

I was thinking of upgrading my graphics card and leaving the rest as it is, but, as I said, I’m no expert and cant say for sure if thats the bottle neck in my system.

p.s: Please take into consideration my budget is quite low :P
Edit: Budget ceiling is around 550$

i would build a computer if you do , go with a 600 seires gpu or amd card like with anything its a hit or miss of how well it will perform and dont expect something that isnt realistic when it comes to computer performance lot of ppl do now when its dealing with games and complain about poor performance when they have $800 computers its usually driver issues that plague any game

Very low FPS on AMD 7770, Win7 64-bit

I was wondering if anyone else had really bad FPS (from 5fps to 15) since one of the daily Wintersday patches (perhaps the 3rd or 4th one?). I’ve a new AMD 7770, Win7 64-bit, i3-2120 and nothing helps in terms of playing at the lowest resolutions, textures etc.

I have another PC at home with the same CPU, an older AMD card(57xx) and 32-bit Win7 that seems to be running perfectly so I’ve ruled out Internet lag. I’ve tried upgrading to the latest Catalyst as well as reverting to older versions – nothing helps.

Sadly, this problem together with the Right-Mouse problem (see http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/Mouse-losing-focus-right-click-to-turn-not-working-Merged – I even bought a new Naga mouse to replace my Logitech G9x before reading that this is a widespread problem) is this close to turning me off GW2

Help!

your issue could very well be the cpu bottle necking the gpu also who ever said a pci 2.1 x16 being put into a x1 spot is wrong it doesnt fit you would have to cut the plastic to fit into that spot think 7770 uses two 6 pins so that and a x16 lane should be more then enough power even on a 450 watt psu using one hdd the cpu listed

most people are running a 560 or a equivalent amd card with at least a dual core cpu of 2.50 or higher so i dont see it being a huge issue to be added as if you could really use it without a huge performance hit your going to, why would you use something you know will give 20fps tops to you ? and ram most pc’s come with 4-8gbs pre built now so not a huge issue on that , hdd’s are normally 7200rpm 32mb cache now.Id say on average most ppl could use tessellation with no aa on at least medium settings and still pull 30-50fps .. i say that from personal experience with other games on older cpu/gpus ive had.. so on topic i think it would be a great idea to add tessellation for those who can use it on ultra and for those who dont mind playing with lower settings for use of it
