If you have a dedicated WvW guild I would keep rocking the thief. Bust out that short bow and combo combo combo! Really its kinda crazy the dps and utility you can put out with that simple spammy blast finisher and some well planed fields.
Being Sylvari I really want to get a leafy set. I’m going to go for the Twilight Arbor set. My glow is really close to the orange on the armor, I’ll dye some of it blue instead of orange to match my hair.
Leap finisher through a water field/circle is only self healing, you need a blast finisher for area healing.
I think its great in pve! I’m really dd/sb but on the Orr maps, with so many adds and respawns I pretty much am always using the short bow. I use a 20/30/20/0/0 spec and go back and forth between dd and sb since you can switch them any time your out of combat.
I really prefer it with a power/crit/crit dmg build since I’m always using the blast finisher. Normally cluster bomb hits for 1100-1700 depending on armor(heavy/light) and usually crit for 2500 – 3k+(yay might stacks), which doesn’t sound like much until your hitting 5 targets and realize you just did 7-12k+ damage for 3 initiative and can spam it. It really mows down groups quick.
Its pretty survivable as well, the auto attack proc’s the signet heal for all 3 hits if its bouncing back and forth. Plenty of blinds, easy weakness and nice condition removal while stealth.
I would love to be able to store some of the stolen items in F2-F4. It would probably be a bit op to have a spare fear or plasma on hand. Mostly I just use them right away so I can steal something else asap.
If you’re going daggers, I’d suggest putting 10 points in Shadow Arts first. The blind on stealth trait, Cloaked in Shadow, is fantastic for avoiding damage in melee range.
I think it is at lower levels.
Its to small and doesn’t last very long so you cant leave it out like the normal caltrops. You pretty much have to be in melee range, then you dodge the attack and they are standing right in the caltrops. If your kiting try running right up to them till they stop and start an attack animation. It sounds odd, but works much better.
d/d has a projectile finisher as well with dancing dagger which brings it to 3 finishers.
The staff is a condition damage weapon while the greatsword is direct damage power weapon.
GS is actually one of the better Sharper Images weapons.
Staff also is fantastic utility for keeping clones alive / fury / might stacks for shatters and for being in range to take advantage of illusionary persona.
Personally I prefer 20 0 20 0 30 for greatsword / staff and focus more on shatters.
With the greatsword I like to pull with mind stab > mirror blade(when in range for bounces) > wave > berserker > mirror blade(when back in range) > shatter.
With the staff chaos storm > phase retreat(for chaos armor) > warlock > chaos armor > phase retreat > shatter.
Basically trying to stack boons before the shatters, switch and repeat. I also switch out the 3rd utility often, just been having fun with mimic lately.
