Give it 3 months and the counter strategies against the specializations will be mainstream. (Dragon Hunters die quick to conditions. Give it a go, it will change your life).
The bars in Divinity’s Reach are also a good place to go for roleplay.
This stealth nerf really makes me sad. I don’t understand the reasoning either. It’s not like everyone has ascended. Heck, 90% of anyone I run into doesn’t.
Tempest ele is great at support. I’m currently running in full clerics gear and I am traited to not only heal a ton, but I can give my party infinite protection and share auras. It’s pretty sweet. Great for full DPS pugs where no one knows how to dodge.
I don’t know why people keep saying the traps are overpowered. Just don’t be a bad PvPer and run straight at them. Duh.
Dragon hunters are destroyed by conditions as well. So yeah, even on my ranger I blow dragonhunters away. Don’t even get me started with my necro.
Hello Everyone!
I’m trying to create a good support tempest build. Currently I am running cleric gear, and the heals I put out can be life savers for both myself and others. Are there any better combinations? Also, for traits, would tempestuous Aria or Invigorating torrents be best for master tier traits?
Also I am conflicted of whether Elemental Bastion is worth it over Imbued Melodies.
I’m currently running these traits:
Arcane: Middle, Middle, Top
Water: Bottom, Middle, Middle
Tempest: Bottom, Top, Bottom
The runes I am using are water runes, but I wonder if there are better choices for what I am trying to do. I’d love some feedback!
If people quit the game because of other people choosing to use some method to get their Tyria masteries faster… I don’t know, that just seems really silly to me.
I think the RNG prevents this item from being overused to the point where it isn’t unique anymore. This is a fairly flashy item. Even if the other mats take a while, people will find a way to shorten that time if there is no RNG. Just look at legendary greatswords. They are legendaries, and still they are seen quite commonly.
I wouldn’t want Nightfury to be something seen as commonly as those greatswords are. Would kind of ruin the feeling of awesomeness when you see someone with it.
Is mad memories common? No, people wear off the shiny effect of new things as time goes on. That’s a gross generalization my friend
My point is that the “shiny effect” as you put it, is a nice novelty for a game like this and not something that should be tossed aside in favor of convenience in attaining it (when there are already so many other cool skins easily attainable in the game already).

Just…play? I’ve been trying for THREE YEARS to complete a Bifrost. Just “playing the game” doesn’t net you the goods. Right now I have everything except the kitten ed precursor. And the entire second rank of the precursor is a big “screw you” to me who has no where near the remaining materials nor money to buy all the Spiritwood and other mats I need.
Took me one year to save up enough money to buy Juggernaut. They don’t just mean “play the game and it’ll magically come to you”. They mean “Play the game with a goal but don’t chase after it obsessively.”
All I did was play the market. Checked up on it 3-4 times a week when I needed to. Fairly effortless honestly. Then I had a friend who busted her butt and got it in 3 months. I think that’s fair.
Thank you OP. You summarized everything that even related to my thoughts on the matter.
Please stop! Stop nerf this game right now! Everything is soloable. If somebody can solo lupicus, we can solo anything. I was waiting for HoT because I want challenging content. But after launch it is just nerf after nerf after nerf. When we will get some really hard content? Will it be some raid? Or it will be nerfed after launch as well? I expect some new character progress with HOT, but my fun is ruined because of hero points reduction and people who just cry. I don’t want finish all new content in less then week. Thanks.
The primary problem here is just people like the OP who want everything at their fingertips just because they see someone else who has something they don’t because they didn’t put as much time/effort into it.
I have to agree. This game is ridiculously easy. I’m not even good at the game and I duo’d lupicus. It’s nice to actually have some challenge where appropriate, and maybe join a PvE guild? That would certainly help a lot of the players who are convinced that everything should be attainable as quickly to them working alone as it would be to a dedicated group of people.
You’re kind of late to this discussion. ANET has already addressed the issue of hero points for elite specs- there’s a blog post about it, even.
The biggest complaint small guilds have is that previous functionality they had prior to the xpac is now not attainable, and the amount of effort they’d be willing to put in to obtain some of those features is now outmatched by number of members. Maybe you try MMO’ing the way you want to MMO, and let other people enjoy the game the way they want to, and not lecture them on what makes the game more or less fun, which is purely subjective.
To a lot of your statement I’d say the solution is fairly simple and a lot of them have already starting just helping each other to get to the things they want faster.
The last sentence or so comes off as abit impolite on your part, but thank you for your otherwise civil perspective on the matter.

I will say that after reading your position, you are not taking into account very specific things…
This is an MMO, not a singleplayer game. MMOs are all about building communities/taking part in adventures together. Your issue with the “wiki” sort of speaks to this idea that you should be able to do everything by yourself (note, I’m not saying you said it, but it is the idea that you’re speaking towards). The wiki is a culmination of players trying to help each other.
If you think Dulfy does everything by herself, you’d be sorely mistaken. She has a guild that helps her and supports her efforts in leading the information train to keep players that maybe don’t have the time to figure it all out, informed. This doesn’t just help those on a time crunch, it also helps stabilize the economy when new things come out.
All of that to say this: Your expectations are skewed. What you describe is more of a complaint of the genre of MMOs being capable of being completely single player. Not really a strictly gw2 thing.
Great rundown of MMOs 12 years ago. Crafting anything is, and should be a solo endeavor unless mats are in defined group content. Anything not gated by entry group restrictions should be solo. Even world bosses are generally a cluster of solo players.
Much Wiki info is contributed by, gasp, Solo players.
Solo players who have the ability to contribute to the wiki = might very well have more time on their hands than the average player. The fact that they use that time to still make a contribution to the community speaks volumes to my point. Those who don’t have all the time in the world/who aren’t as experienced with navigating new content can still contribute to the community by actually being a part of it.
Heart of Thorns talked about a LOT of new content changes to make things a lot more group oriented and introduce new mechanics into boss fights to actually make them challenging. I don’t really mind that some materials actually require others to help me in order to get them. I crafted all of my own ascended gear and obtained the trinkets. So if the main gripe is about Heart of Thorns specifically, they already told us that this is what it would be many months in advanced.
I’ve noticed a lot of crying about the elite specializations being “op” or “too hard to obtain”… I’d like to point out that they aren’t called Elite Specializations for no reason. They are supposed to be a reward for dedication to a class. I don’t understand the attitude of wanting everything to be attainable by everyone.
I’ve even seen people in 2 person guilds complaining that they can’t unlock guild halls. My only response to that is: “Have you seen ANY of the dev streams about guild halls and unlocking them?” They aren’t supposed to be super easy things that any sized guild can do.
It could be that I just don’t understand it because I see people treating this MMO, like a singleplayer game. I think people forgot what MMO stands for. MMO stands for “Massively Multiplayer Online”. To me that signals that, yeah, if you want to get the most out of your time playing it you will need to actually find a group of folks. Besides, the game is way more fun if you actually take the time to form social connections and game together.
Honestly? People have posted about how easy this game is for years. Heart of Thorns has given opportunity for increased difficulty in nearly every respect. You don’t have to spend the time and effort to make these skins. No one is forcing you.
[Sarcasm]Hey, I want a Ferrari, it should be cheaper so I can buy it. No? Well that’s just unfair! [/Sarcarm]
