You may want to look those up on the trading post before doing anything else. You won’t be disappointed. Unless you already destroyed them.

Enhanced Squad UI Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

A few minor things which I feel would improve the functionality of the new Squad UI:

  • Dragging player ‘up’ to create a new sub-squad felt awkward. Either dragging ‘down’ or having a right-click option in the context menu would feel nicer and more intuitive.
  • Not being able to see boons / conditions hinders my ability to react to party members in distress or boon application.
  • The ‘Broadcast’ portion of the UI impedes my view a bit when acting as a squad leader. I would like an option to either reduce its opacity or hide it when I don’t need to use it.
  • When moving players to and from subgroups, the scaling for the squad UI behaves awkwardly. It also messes with other squad members’ UI when making changes to squad composition (it feels like it shouldn’t be doing that at all). An option that could work is to keep the scaling static for squad member bars per squad member and scale the squad panel around that.

Suggestion for Adventures (Tendril Torchers)

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

First off, I’ve been having a blast with Tendril Torches. It’s something that I’ve been missing since my last time playing Guild Wars 1, and it’s been a major component of my enjoyment with the beta so far.

My suggestion is that when completing kill/collection type adventures, it would be nice to have the enemies / items remain on the map for you so that you can see what you missed (if any). I managed to get 138 out of 139 tendrils for Tendril Torches, and I had to go back to watch a recording of it to figure out exactly which one I missed.

Since mastery points are (currently) a reward for burning every tendril in under two minutes, it’s just a small quality of life change that can possibly get players to give it another try or twenty.

Can you keep anything Revenants finds?

There is at least one thing that you can buy with gold as a Revenant that carries over to your primary account, but I’ve sent in a bug report involving the matter already. A certain item or two needs to be disabled to avoid potential exploitation. A dev can PM me if they can’t find it in the bug reports. For certain gameplay, it’s fairly serious.

Diminishing Returns on Clock Tower?

I would be fine if they decided to just modify the end chest to 1-3 bags for the end chest. That seems reasonable given the time frame between attempts. It was previously 3-5 bags, which when you add up another 4 potential bags you can easily get every other run, it adds up.

But even if they opted to just put in a single Grumble Cake, that would be better than nothing.

I am almost 100% sure that Bell Choir being in “PvP Mode” is the same as with Keg Brawl. ArenaNet made it a PvP instance but intentionally left out the ability to gain Glory and PvP based rewards for playing it.

Opinion: Major Question Left Out Of The Survey

While I was able to do the final event on multiple alternate characters (twice from the very beginning), I still mentioned something similar that the current method of deploying one-time-only events needs to be looked at. The other part of it is the duration of parts of the event were needlessly long and tedious rather than challenging.

Thanks for giving us a challenging puzzle to tackle!

While I was on the luckier end where it only took about 30-50 minutes to complete it, I enjoyed it enough to spend the entire rest of the day perfecting it to where I was able to complete it nearly every attempt. After hours of successful runs (and finding some interesting little quirks involving sitting at the top of the stairs), it was still the most enjoyable jumping puzzle I’ve done so far out of all of the current puzzles in the game.

I hope to see more challenging content like this and more in the future

The server was unable to authenticate your gameplay privileges + temporary solution

Upon logging out of character select as of maybe an hour ago, I’ve had issues with getting disconnected and getting booted back to the patcher application. When attempting to log back in afterwards, I was greeted with an error code which essentially said that the game could not authenticate my privileges to play Guild Wars 2 and that I should speak with Customer Support.

If you also receive a similar message, try logging into the forums with your login information (if you’re able to reply to this, you almost certainly already did this :P) and try logging into Guild Wars 2 again. It should allow you to get back into the game, although I still have the issue occur if I attempt logging out to character select again.

The most recent patch (the one which added the Mad King Chest recipe) started giving me connectivity issues for the first time (going back to all the pre-purchase beta weekends + stress tests). I can play for anywhere from 10-30 minutes before getting disconnected. I’m able to get right back in from character select. Also, I have not ever used the mobile authenticator at any point if that somehow helps narrow it down by any chance :P

Voice Actor for Sorrow's Embrace Story Mode (Dredge speech)

It’s been driving me and a few friends nuts trying to figure out the name of the voice actor who did the speech during the Sorrow’s Embrace story mode dungeon. Every time I’ve done it I had everyone stop to listen to it. The voice sounds really familiar but I just can’t put a name to the voice. To be honest, it’s my favorite bit of voice acting in the game so far :P

Guild vs Guild Tournament (in the style of World vs World)

This gameplay mode could give guilds something to do when they are not able to effectively join in on World vs World as a guild. It also gives guilds on less populated servers a means of competing in a similar gameplay mode without the worry of not being viable against their opponent(s). It also gives players who have time constraints the ability to join in on guild activities and be rewarded regardless of when and for how long they are able to play for. Many players may have to leave the game before they even see a queue for a World vs World map pop up on their screen.

From a monetization standpoint, obviously you could require tournament tickets to be used to engage in this activity. Guilds who are interested enough to participate will want to fund their guild to do so. Particularly for higher population servers who are VERY interested in World vs World (be it for competition or the need for Badges of Honor for crafting Legendary Weapons), they could likely see this as a very interesting game mode worth investing their time and resources into. It would also allow guilds to play against one another from the same server, allowing them far more options on who they would like to play with/against. If you are not pleased with your current World vs World match-up, you would have the option to play Guild vs Guild.

The potential drawback for this is if the reward and gameplay is not properly balanced. If the rewards are too great in Guild vs Guild, players who are inclined to farm rewards may opt to skip out entirely on World vs World and only play Guild vs Guild. A possible way around this would be to either have rewards give lesser rewards if the game determines them to being farmed by a player/guild, or to limit how often a guild may participate in this game mode to avoid farming repeatedly.

Thanks for reading through my wall of text (and I apologize for not having a TL;DR. Hopefully this can be a starting point on opening up some well thought-out discussion on ways we can help remedy the current state of World vs World across our servers. I personally happen to be playing on Eredon Terrace, and would like this more for servers who are presently unable to play effectively against guilds with a stronger World vs World presence. I want everyone to have a chance to enjoy the game mode that ArenaNet has spent so much time working on, and to be able to feel they are able to contribute to their team’s success by participating. If you have your own ideas, it would be awesome to read on your take on what could be done to make this game better!

Guild vs Guild Tournament (in the style of World vs World)

I’ll have to double-post to include everything. I apologize in advance :/

I’ve had this idea kicking about since just after the second Beta Weekend Event, and due to some recent topics involving World vs World, I thought I would share this here where it can be clearly seen.

Some players have been hoping for a Guild vs Guild gameplay mode and it occurred to me that something close to World vs World might be how to implement this. Rather than having a server facing off against two other servers, give individual guilds a method to face off against one another in an instanced, custom made World vs World map. I’ll explain the specifics below.

- A guild may access a Tournament NPC and type in the name of a player with sufficient ranking in another guild to challenge them. Should the challenge be accepted, both guilds involved may select 5 individuals each to decide the rules of their match via a vote. These rules would be map choice, number of players allowed to participate at one time and the duration of the match. This could be anywhere from 4 hours to 24 hours and 20-40 players per guild. The most commonly selected options between both guilds would be chosen.

- The objectives would be relatively the same as a standard World vs World match. You have a designated starting camp for your guild, and you will be tasked to take and hold various locations to increase your point totals over the course of the match. Due to the smaller scale of the game mode, there could possibly be something like 4 supply camps, two towers and one keep, or 5 supply camps, 3 towers, 2 keeps, 1 castle. Obviously, the health of any NPCs and/or fortifications would need to be adjusted accordingly for the player count.

- Rather than have supply directly held by an individual, supply could be globally pooled within the guild, accessible to either all guild members or those with sufficient permissions. Any supply earned by a player would be automatically sent into the pool. This would allow for those who take supply consumption seriously to organize the use of it more effectively.

- Rather than requiring gold or badges to build siege equipment, players will be required to earn points via capturing or holding points, defeating players and/or completing special objectives. These points may be used at an NPC to purchase instance-specific siege equipment. This means that players will not be able to enter a match with a stockpile of siege equipment and help level the playing field from the get-go each match.

- If a team manages to capture every point on the map AND is leading in points, a timer will begin to count down. If the countdown expires without the losing team capturing a point, the match will end.

- Rewards for this gameplay mode could be guild influence, points for guild ranking and badges of honor.
