CPU Usage problem (its NOT about hardware at all...)

@Shadeblast You do realize the CPU can (and assuredly does) do a lot more than feed the GPU’s shader engine right? You make it sound like the only thing its doing is send texture and such to the GPU…
I do indeed but I was explaining how that would result in the GPU not running in 100%.

GPU usage is not a “problem.” Your GPU should be able to run 100% full-time, as should your CPU.
If it cannot, then your computer was not built properly and needs proper cooling and/or airflow. The game happens to be exposing a problem with your computer.
I’m not saying the GPU/CPU usage isn’t a bug – only because it’s not intended to do so.
That’s not exactly true, either of them could be bottlenecking the other, say the CPU can’t properly handle the game and will constantly run on 100% while still falling behind, the GPU will not run at max as the CPU is not sending the info it’s needing to process resulting in the GPU not doing what it could as the CPU holds it back.
Invisible I assume :P
I’m sorry, that’s just not true. If you haven’t bought a high-end system, in the last couple years, you’re not going to be playing this game with any real satisfaction. It is graphically intense, we are talking about 4gb of ram, a Q6600 and a SIX year old graphics card, no, I’m sorry, but no. His OS takes half of his physical RAM. I’m telling you, for a fact, that those specs, and that performance is about accurate.
I am sorry, but I run this game with steady 50-60 fps in PvE on:
Intel E8400 @3GHz
nVidia 9600GT
4GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
His pc should in this case easily be capable of atleast 30 fps…
I want to add, thanks for everyone trying to help me.
I’m an IT dude as well, i’m fully aware of alot of basic things you need to check. But it’s an serious issue here, the GTX 680 GPUs don’t get used to 90 – 100% like in BF3 or any other games out there.
GW2 only uses 50 – 56% of both GPUs and my CPU is ULTRA COOL almost idling arround with 20% usage.I want that GW2 uses all i have, i don’t want my GPUs to use only their half power….
Now i hope that Nvidia also works hard on this….
Are you using the frame limiter option? Instead of limiting fps it just throttled my gpu+cpu down to 60-70% and giving me lag. I went from 30→60 fps while the limiter was on 60.
blahblahblah
Bottom line — What’s with the massive FPS drop without even seeing a single player on the screen?
It has to start rendering all the player models and their actions, even though they are out of your eyesight. Seeing from a distance you can’t see them either.
I’m running into the exact same issues that everyone here has been talking about, except I feel like my FPS seems to be even more extreme than most. I’ve been able to hit a MAX of probably 5-7 FPS no matter what zone I’m in. It’s made the game unplayable. I was able to run the first open beta fine, the second a little, and the third not at all. I even doubled my ram today hoping that would help. I’m not the most tech savy, so maybe I’m missing something, but I’d sure love to be able to play the game I paid $70.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 512
8GB DDR2 RAM
Windows Vista 32bit
What drivers are you on? I have the same specs, apart from you having a better processor and Vista instead of Windows 7 (Might be an issue?) and I average 30 fps in PvE…..
This is sick on no matter what setting i play i have ~10fps >_>
Maybe post your specs?
Lenovo Y570 that laggs like creazy || Old PC that works with 30FPS max settings.
i5 2430M (2.4GHz) || Intel Core Quad Q8600 or so (2.3)
GTX 555M 1.6GB VRam || GeForce 9600GT 1gb
8Gb Ram || 8gb ramI doubt this game has bigger requirements then f.e BF3.
I have the Lenovo Y580 and it works like a charm :o, I do have an i7 and a GTX660M though…

Well, I find it quite odd to see how the specs don’t really matter, I however have both a laptop and a desktop for comparison.
DESKTOP – Low settings:
Intel E8400 Stock (@3GHz) – Runs @ 90-100%
nVidia 9600GT 512MB – Runs @ 90-100%
4GB RAM
Windows Ultimate 64-bit
FPS somewhere inbetween 20-40 in PvE, but in WvWvW or very large battles it drops to below 10 FPS.
LAPTOP – High settings (Out for repairs):
Intel i7-3610QM (@2,3GHz) – Ran roughly at 80-100%
nVidia GTX660M – Didn’t look at usage.
8GB RAM
Windows Home Premium 64-bit
Ran smoothly at around 40-60 fps on high settings, with 120 on low.
I did not try WvWvW before it had to go back to the store due to a fabrication error (Glue residue in the screen casing).
