Lol so as I’d been saying, as soon as the crazy burst builds were gone there would no longer be any counters to the crazy tough/sustain bunkers. Then the new FOTM would be bunker builds.

I have seen many players in my matches starting to switch over to boring bunker builds.

Sustain bunk necros
Sustain Condi Eles
Stun bunk warriors
Condi bunk rangers

PvP has become so boring when you’re up against a team full of bunkers. Get 5 good bunker players and its a promised win through pure attrition.

It takes 2-3 dps to overwhelm 1 of these bunkers and after you get them down the other bunkers just sit in the cleave and poison and rez him up. LOL
Haste bunker warrior rez for all!

I would have much preferred the other direction GW2 was taking, high risk = high reward. If you make a mistake the other player can capitalize and nuke you. Didn’t matter DPS or bunker.

Now its bunker wars. Awful and painfully slow games with no excitement.
Just watch your health tick down as bunkers bath you in conditions, until your condition wiping skills run out…
And if they don’t, oh well you can’t kill the bunker anyways lol.

I would have much preferred dealing with glassy cheap/bugged burst that a bunch of turtling bunkers. It’s pretty much killed PVP for me. I hate that style.

Maybe I’ll try one just to troll ppl on a pt. It seems to be one of the only source of entertainment in pvp now.

Also, IDK if its my bracket but I rarely see made engines in my tPVP matches and usually they are bad when they are.
Most of the time its the crazy sustain and or bunker builds which have respectable DMG output too.

There are currently necro bunker builds that can condi bomb, dropping targets within 1-3 seconds.

They can also eat barrage and still be decent HP and heal back up. IDK if barrage is bugging you that much, roll a necro and just LOL as you roll everyone with condos.

People don’t seem to comprehend my posts. They automatically assume I’m defending barrage damage which I have never done.

I’m saying there is a deeper problem than (knee jerk reaction) only grenade barrage the skill.

I also never said, “barrage damage is okay because bunks can absorbe it.”

I am pointing out Proper Bunker builds are being able to absorbe (what the community feels is insane damage) and not be low HP or able to heal back to 100% within 1-3 seconds, says something about bunkers at the moment too.

And ya I’ve been doing extensive testing with barrage, its piercing not double nading.

Just to note, I’ve seen many bunkers easily surviving these new burst builds without dodging, aka actually eating the damage. After, they are still not close to death.

Here I’ll explain again with some math to help ppl understand.

You throw 7 nades.
It pierces and hits.
Nades land and explode hits 7x again.

7 × 2 = 14. You have a potential to hit a single target 14x under the current piercing change.

People who say nades are throwing double and are not actually piercing are incorrect.

Damage on barrage needs to be corrected but after all other damage variables have been normalized or everything is going to be yo-yoing around.

No class is OP, burning is OP

Fought against a warrior called Ice Climber Nana.

He was tanking like boss
Our team:
Shatter Mesmer
Nade Engie x2
Necro
Some Burst Guardian.

He held off both Nade engies solo, granted the one Engi was garbage.

  • Sorry I wasn’t clear, he also bunked against all my other teammates at some point.

I backwards engineer his build and also tanked all of those “burst” classes. So I’m not so certain anymore damage is too high, or people are not building properly (ie. going all glass).

IDK Man, I’ve seen some crazy Necro tanks out there that are able to take on and survive multiple “burst metas” ppl are complaining about.

Also seen some ele bunkers do the same.

So if there are a bunch of OP burst builds out there right now (which I think there are), what does that say about these bunkers builds?

Getting seriously sick of all the knee jerk qq’ers saying Grenades are “Bugged”. (I have not mained engineer for a long time).

Grenade Barrage and Grenades are piercing it is NOT BUGGED! Do your research.
So shut up please and thank you. Stop spreading false information.

What you are seeing is a combination of changes causing high damage. It is a balancing issue with multiple variables.

Really irked by all these people spouting unverified and false facts into the community. Those are the same whiners who get classes incorrectly (not unjustly) nerfed and cause good community advice to go unheeded.

The first video linked is stupid. The guy is showing a pure zerker glass Engi. Yes, it is a funny cheese build but he is a 100% liability to any tPVP team with very little benefit. All it takes is for 1 person to instant kill him every time he shows his ugly face and it will be a 4v5 for the entire game.

Well, not 50% anymore that’s prob just an exaggeration but it is pretty close.

So frustrating trying to get my rank back up. Lol I eventually just gave up. But the rampant afks and skyhammer are just driving me nuts now.

Oh Anet, why can’t you just implement a 12hr ban (from PVP) each dishonor buff (72hr decay) and 1 week if they stack it up to 3×.

It is a pretty easy system to prevent the rampant afks.

I hypothesize, but I don’t know.
During late nights all the low ranks and afks become higher majority of the playing population. This I’m hypothesizing makes it impossible to gain rank and will actually double penalize high ranks when in a 4v5.

So say a high rank gets an afk/leaver. Not only is his MMR going to take a [/b]HUGE[b] hit, but in order to regain those points a player would probably have to win a 5 game streak for every 1 loss.

Normally most players would be like, “BRING IT ON!” However, with the afks, it is no longer about skill but odds and odds of afks is very high.

Anyways, I think I am done with GW2. Completely ignoring rank and the leaderboards, I can’t take the afks, carrying noobs and skyhammer anymore.

I am done at least for now. Thanking for the gaming.

Most people who are raging about the new matchmaking system I find are the players who’ve always been teamed up with the high ranks.

They have never experienced being on the rigged to lose side for all these months.

So the “team noobs” are now being split between both teams instead of being lumped onto the rigged to lose side .
No more easy wins.
No more being carried.
No more always getting that perfect team of high ranks.

Welcome to fair play.

Is it frustrating to carry low rank players? YES, for sure! Rant all you want about that. I whole heartily agree. But do not complain that the system is broken because now you have low ranks on your team. Some of us had to endure much worse all these months.

I am easily breaking into the rank 100’s.

I was not saying that it is a great feat. I am drawing a comparison to how it was impossible with the previous rigged system to rank into my actual skill level.

There are way more than that. I have played consistently before and been ranked -1000.

Got 29 rank on EU by beating some noobs

MMR was reset so everyone was starting off at 0.

As you already know, your rank will matched up to your proper skill level after several games.

@Thedenofsin W/e man, pre-reset and pre-matchmaking fix, a lot of us who weren’t lucky enough to ride the initial high rank wave (MMR) constantly got teamed up with lowbies vs top ranked teams.

If each team has a low rank, so be it at least it is essentially a 4v4 (fair game).

Thank you Anet for finally fixing the matchmaking system and finally resetting the leaderboards.

Prior to this those that started their tPVP career later were automatically be teamed up with the low ranks vs high ranked players (teams). It was just matches of being steamrolled over and over again. Low rank players were not even necessarily unskilled, but were also late starters. Because our rank (high-skilled low ranked players) would majority of the time be paired up with at least 2 noobies vs high ranks.

This would cause the rank discrepancy to just grow farther and farther. I don’t think I ever broke rank 600. With all the mismatched team fights my rank easily dropped below rank 1000.

Those that were lucky enough to start early (but may not have had the same amount of skill) were teamed up with the true high skilled players and basically just rode the wave up up up, while others like myself were just being pushed down down down.

This is not a rant but just giving the community a comparison and idea of how drastic the improvement are.

As soon as you changed the matchmaking system I noticed the difference. It was such a relief not having to fight rigged matches. True, AFK’s and no shows were still a large annoyance. But at least it would be 4 vets + 1 noob vs 4 vets + 1 noob. Instead of, 3 vets + 2 noobs vs 5 vets.

And once you reset the leaderboards… OMG. I am playing on actual teams now. There are actual multiple veteran PVP’ers who have my back. I am easily breaking into the rank 100’s. Something that was impossible with the old rigged matchmaking.

PS. [u]Please remove Skyhammer out of SoloQ tPVP rotation.[/u] I do not deny it is a hilarious and fun troll map but tPVP is <b>suppose to be</b> about a competition between PVP skills and team co-ordination.
Skyhammer revolves around knock back, pull, and stability fights/builds.

Please excuse my analogy, but it feels like a game of first person to fall from a kick to the nuts loses. The general strategy feels like, be the first one to kick them in the nuts. Run up behind the guy (stealth) and just wail him in the nuts from behind.
