Oh, support and me go waaaaay back. They offered all kinds of advice—none of which worked—and in the end just said:

“Thank you for getting back to us. Unfortunately I do not believe this is an issue with the game but something with your setup, as such nothing a patch has to offer would resolve it.”

I even had my best friend —an IT pro--go over my system with a fine tooth comb. In the end, he exhausted everything he knew and suggested that I upgrade to Win 64, because there just was nothing else he could think to do.

This guy did enough IT to build his own house, so don’t even try to tell me he is unqualified to give advice.

You’ve all heard this sad tale:

GW2 ran fine for me for weeks, then November came and crash, crash, crash. Epic crash, not even a full system restart would allow a re-connect to the client.

I had to give up my beloved GW2.

Rumors began to circulate: I was running a 32 bit system in a 64 bit world and this was the problem.

I saved up and—today— ordered Win7 in English. Not an easy thing to do in Poland, where I live.

I just need someone to tell me this is the magic solution that will allow me to return to Shadyia and the game.

My current system is:

Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3328MB RAM

Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce GTS 450
Display Memory: 1024.0 MB
Current Mode: 1280 × 1024 (32 bit) (75Hz)

Daily Blue/Black Screen

I had a professional IT friend install BIOS and make sure the latest drivers were on my motherboard. He gave GW2 unrestricted access to the web.

The game still crashes 50% of the time.

He is at a total loss for why this is happening.

For me, this is a deal breaker. If the big patch this week does not fix this issue, GW2 and I will have to part ways. But they have 100,000s of others who have no problems, so I’m sure they will get over the grief of losing me rather quick.

Many people are having this problem. GW2 has become unplayable to me. The list of things I have done to try and fix this is long. I’ve even had a professional IT friend go over my computer.

Anet did something at the end of October, but whatever they did is only effecting a few thousand players. I know they are trying to work with the people having these problems (I’ve gotten about 6 messages from support offering ideas), but it seems the problem is much larger than any solution they have.

They have also said no fix is coming in the next patch.

So as they say, that’s that.

I would like for Anet to acknowledge that they are aware of the issue and that a fix is in the works. Is this something being worked on for a near future patch?

They are aware of the issue, but they have told me as far as they are concerned, it’s my computer at fault:

Fact: I changed nothing on my system

Fact: The game ran beautifully before November

Fact: The list of things I have done, advice I have followed, drivers I have updated is so long, I’ve dedicated hours of my life over the past 2 weeks to get fixed.

Fact: 75% of the time I get a blue screen crash to reboot or when ever I load a map in game.

I cannot play like this. I don’t want to join a dungeon or do WvWvW because every death is a screen load, and every screen load run a chance of a crash.

I’m not some kid yelling at the rain because he can’t go out and play ball. I am an adult, paying customer.

Please fix this!

Stuck in every loeading screen

A lot of people are having this problem. I have done everything to cure it from re-installing GW2 to updating NVIDIA and DirectX and half a dozen other things.

The only thing I have yet to try is updating the drivers on my motherboard, which I need a professional IT to lead me through that dark forest.

I can only offer 2 hopes. When GW2 does let you play, immediately switch to windowed full screen. You will still crash, but a lot less and recovery is a lot better.

Pray the big patch on the 15th or 16 has a cure.

I am convinced this is a graphics problem. I have it too.

When GW2 lets you play, don’t exit without going to Windowed Mode . It may help you log back in the next time.

One idea: Try switching to Windowed Mode (F11, Graphic Options)—if it cures the problem, you can switch back.

OK, I’ve been suffering with this problem for days. I’ve…well, never mind. I’ve tried so many things, I’m almost down to changing religions.

Then I stumbled on this gem, which some say has worked for them.

If you are like me, you crash after entering your Name and PW—sometimes!

When the Six bless your computer with the character select, before you log out and maybe even before you change characters switch to Windowed mode. (F11, Graphic options.)

So far, until Anet pulls a fix, that has worked for me.

EDIT: This (switching to Windowed Mode) also instantly cured a graphics glitch which made the character select screen 50/50 blue and yellow.

…this is because GW2 is configured for DirectX 10.

Hear me out.

1. The difference between DirextX 9.0c (latest) and DirectX 10 is huge!

2. This crash is not effecting everyone.

3. The problem is clearly a graphics one. I get the blue line on top with the words “Guild Wars 2” scrambled and then black screen and then crash.

If this is a DirectX issue, no amount of “connect directly to your modem” is going to do anything.

Questions:

Are people who use DirectX 10 also getting this crash after you hit the start?

I am having same issue, and did same things (verified game files, updated graphics driver)

just restarted my computer and now it works!

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but that happened to me as well. Crash, crash—did things to try and fix it—Works! Great! Problem solved!

Next time, crash…crash…nothing helps.

I’ll bet good money that obi.5679 is back to crashing again.

I have a good friend who is an IT genius. He gave GW2 totally unrestricted access to the modem and web. Anyone from Support who is tries to tell you it’s your fault is flat out wrong.

We can only pray that a fix is in the works for the 15th. Until then, the tens of thousands of customers who have this problem will have to suffer and hope.

Stuck at launcher

The security software is not the problem, I have disabled it and still doesn’t work.
The main issue is that I have been playing the game since BWE1 and i had no problems with firewall nor connection method.

Yes, exactly.

I had no problems, zero, until a few days ago. Now I cannot get GW2 to work on my computer. Nothing on my end has changed.

What are you guys doing over there to mess this game up for so many loyal players?

I deleted GW2 and re-installed. No difference.

I updated NVIDIA and the latest DirextX

I have ran from Administrator.

I have (on the advice of Support) disconnected my router and connected my modem directly to the computer. No change.

I am out of options. Please help!

I am also having this problem. So frustrating! After entering my PW, the screen flicks and then goes black. The only way out of Ctrl+Alt+Del. When I try to run GW2 again, it won’t even connect to the server.

I have done everything the forums suggest. Nothing helps.

Please tell me you have a fix coming up in the Nov 15 patch.

Or tell me how to work through this problem!

POSSIBLE SOLUTION: I updated my NVIDIA graphic card to latest, ran from Administrator, and then GW2 ran fine. Dono if that was a cure or a coincidence, but…just wanted to share.

Same. Game crashes and crashes. I did the “black screen” advice with NVIDIA and it makes no difference.

All other programs on my computer work fine.

Yes, same here, but I only went from 90 silver to 4 copper.

What seems to have happened

Al the pour souls, like me, who have clicked on items to buy over the past week and got that “Does not meet any orders” message…guess what. Anet just filled all your orders.

All of them. And charged you for it. I ordered about 5 midnight rose dyes.

I can see the menus in TP, but when I try to buy something, the button just goes grey for a few seconds and then goes back to normal. I cannot buy anything.

Will will this be fixed, please?
