Something about a car race in poor english which i couldnt fully understand
Only thing you are forgetting is the fact that stealth users cant attack. Compare stealth to, for example, a shoutbow warrior.
Thief regens ~300hp/second, excluding his heal skill. Thief cant attack but can still get damage by any player that has half a brain.
Warrior regens ~400HP/second, excluding shouts. Warrior can still attack and damage the thief.
While in stealth, the thief (or other classes with stealth) CANT DO ANYTHING besides positioning himself better. He can still get hit very easly, and it doesnt require much to drop a thief.
I would go for a hpoenix skin, defenitly. Phoenix skins look 5 times as good as a lovestruck skin!
The last time my thief has been kicked out of a fractal, is like 4 months ago. And i do fractals (49) every day . I just make sure im not the 3d thief to join the party, i read the party description and i communicate. Thieves are a wonderfull addition to any fractal or dungeon group, assuming you know how2play thief.
Then again, i got full ascended with 85AR and 7k AP. Maybe that has something to do with it as well?
The only place were this is actually a problem for me, is Tpvp. And even there thieves have a decent role (better then ele’s or rangers).
So, no offense. But either you are in NA and the NA community is alot worse then EU (unlikely), or it is something else, besides being thief. Are you sure you are reading the party description before joining? Are you saying “hi” when entering? Are you walking around with 3 signets? Do you have <2k AP? Or are you wearing full CoF armor?
TLDR; Somehow i can manage playing a thief without ever getting kicked for being one, but you cant. Try searching for the awnser instead of blaming it on your class, because it is likely you are doing something wrong.

The fact that somebody like burnfall can play a warrior and be succesfull with it says enough about the current strenght of the warrior.
In fact, i joined the bandwagen a few days ago as a ham/bow warrior. Compared to ele and thief, this class is so forgiving in solo que. Along with 21khp with a zerker amulet, ~500 regen/sec with adrealine full, best starting armor, 18s of stability, near-permanent rage+swiftness, great CC with hammer and longbow #5, great area denial with longbow and hammer f1+f4, awsome condition cleansing, 10s condition inmunity, 10% additional damage reduction thnx to dolyak signet, great acces to might (longbow f1+longbow3+hammer f1+might from elite+might from swap, for starters). Along with being able to swap weapons every 5s (and gaining might and adrealine while doing so). The only thing this build “misses” is a decent mobility skill, such as a leap (as you usually wont have hammer f1 while moving).ATM i got 60% solo que win on my warrior after 30 games of solo que, without ever playing warrior before, and only doing solo que. On my thief i manged to get to ~55% with over 1,2k hours played on that character, and 100’s of matches played. Either im a natural warrior player (doubtfull) or the ham/bow guild is just really a faceroll easymode build.
TLDR: ham/bow warrior is easy 2 play, has almost no downsides but has a great amount of strenghts. Mistakes are easly corrected thanks to extreme passive regen, condition inmunity, amount of CC, cleanses and stability. Only downside is their lack of mobility (as far as near perma-swiftness is weak mobility)
Exactly my toughts. I have been trying out pretty much every possible Spvp build there is when it comes to thieves, but i cant do a thing versus the more experienced players. If i see a necro, warrior, engi or guardian i might as well run somewhere else, because there is no way i will win 1vs1. In the meantime im doing twice as good on my guardian while having 5x the playtime on my thief.
Thieves aint even the kings of mobility anymore…. warrior wins that game these days, while also having huge amount of CC, survivability and damage…
Hey everybody,
As the title says, I am looking for a guild/community in europe that does Tequatl the Sunless (and other PvE events as well). I have found quite a few of those guilds, but all of them seem NA based (so i wouldnt be able to join, since im on a EU server). Can sombody help me out?
However, most players make it perfectly clear they’re okay dragging along sub-80 people, or people who have non-exotic gear, or people who haven’t run the dungeon so many times they have every encounter and boss memorized. After all, it is a game. We’re playing to have fun, not tweak out the last .001% of productivity. So that whole argument about not contributing as much to the party…ya…completely hollow. It’s a weak attempt to try to rationalize what is truly an emotional, not rational, response.
Maybe it is, but its still very valid. When I am doing a dungeon with other people, i want them to be TRYING. That afk guy is gonna get kicked from my party. Somebody in full MF gear is afk for 33% of the time. I love taking sub-80 people to most dungeons, because they are often even more motivated then the rest. The people in MF gear are being so extremly selfish that i dont want them anywhere near my party.
Point is, its safe to assume that being in full MF instead of other gear is going to gimp your dps with ~30%. If everybody did that, the run would take 30% longer. Now include wipes because you couldnt kill X fast enough, people leaving because its taking to long, ect. I estimate the average dungeon with people in MF gear would take about 50% longer, depending on the diffuculty.
Long story short: It might be a emotional reaction, but taking people that are trying to the fullest, even when not level 80 or geared in full exotics, is in no way comparable to people in full MF gear. Intentionally being a liability to your group while you can also just equip your normal gear, is for solo players.
This is my current thief. Pretty happy with him, only looking for other boots that match the light-armor look better.
Uhm, you cant level to 80 in 4 hrs. Assuming youare talking about being bumped ip to 80 for wvw, this is practical as they want people on some what level playing field…and adhere to the “level the way you want”.
Buying gold via the game wont get you kto 80. Explain this please.
You can easily level to 80 in 3-4 hours by crafting.
That being said, Wasabi Kitty is correct. How other people level their characters has no affect on you so why worry about it? If people want to spend money to do that then I thank them for supporting Anet.
Hey, why not let people buy everything in the game? It doesn’t effect you right?
This is your logic.
Fine with me? It gives them no advantage what so ever and in fact probably puts them at a huge disadvantage because they won’t know how to play their character. Coupled with the fact they in fact can’t get more powerful by just paying money.. again, fine with me.
Besides that all the kitten they sell on the gem store I have more of sitting in my bank that I didn’t pay a single cent for. Thus making any argument you have for gw2 being p2w null and void.
P.S. In gw1 anet let people buy skill unlock packs. The horror.
So you don’t mind, that’s fine. Many do.
Comparing skill unlocks to the p2w features in gw2 comes off as a bit desperate. I don’tn think I really need to explain the difference. Now if you could buy all the armor sets in GW1 people would have a problem with that.
Yes you could, only trough gold-seller sites. And those are very easy to find. I rather see that money go into more game development then into some random chinese bot company.
IMO the cash shop is wel designed and buying a advantage(if any) only allows you to skip a part of the game. If you level the normal way you will be level 80 within 2 weeks anyway. That combined with the upscaling and downscaling should tell you enough about the ’advantage" if buying your character to level 80, which is also available for regular players that got a small amount of gold.
Oh, and players that buy something, with real money, should gain something from it. If people dont want:
-It giving a stat advantage
-Giving a time reduction
-Giving them a unique item
Then what is left to be bought in the gem store?
(edited by Shatters.7315)
Gems went up because of a few things. The three biggest contributing factors are 1) Black Friday Weekend sales, 2) New Transformation kits in the Gem shop and 3) Holy Good God Look At That Item Grind To Upgrade Your Ascended Back Piece.
This increased the value of Gems to encourage spending cash, rather than relying on Gold to obtain them, just as ANET probably planned. I do wish they would be a little more subtle and less misleading about their marketing goals though. They’re really just yanking most people along on a chain.
It is inflation. Not only the price of gems are rising, but so is pretty much every item in the game. Dungeon rewards are also increased.
More or less, you wont even lose anything. eto’s went from ~13s to 34s in a few weeks, for example.
…and heartlessly smashes it into the ground.
I couldn’t help but read that any other way.
1. The Unshakeable Power Plateau
From the moment GW1 launched to current day, it’s had a power plateau that hasn’t once moved. ArenaNet is planning to cast aside GW2’s power plateau in both levels and further gear tiers. I don’t want to spend my life grinding, and I don’t want every fight decided by who has the biggest numbers. That’s what the power plateau prevents. Once you get to a certain point – everything is decided by player skill. Nothing in GW2 other than perhaps sPvP is decided by player skill.
2. Character Freedom
If I had been designing GW2, I would have given each weapon around 50 total skills, and then I would allow people to pick and choose the five that work best for them. Considering the limited pool, however, and how many skills feel like reskinned versions of other skills? It makes me wonder if there are more than 20 total skills in the game.
3. Freedom to Explore
There was no ‘exploration tax’ in GW1. I didn’t have to pay to go and help someone out with something. In GW2, if I want to help someone out with something across the map, or worse, across the world, it bites into my gold supply. That’s completely obnoxious. This makes me sad because even Free Realms does this better. And when SOE is being less cynical and more fun than you, you’re doing something very wrong.
4. Memorable NPCs
GW1 had plenty of these. In GW2 the only character I truly loved was Lightbringer Tybalt Leftpaw, and he doesn’t even stick around for the whole game! In GW1, they didn’t just kill off characters because it would be inconvenient having them around, that’s bad game design. If it was my choice, I would have taken Tybalt with me to take down Zhaitan. Instead I got Trahearne. And Trahearne is the most hateful character I’ve ever encountered throughout the history of roleplaying games, including the badly translated Japanese ones.
5. A Beautiful World
This is where it bites the most. Most areas of GW1 look better than most areas of GW2. I recently went back to GW1 to run a comparison. They took greater time and effort to make things look better in GW1, it’s as simple as that. In cities it’s probably the worst. You have clipping models in cities with no border rims or detail textures (sorry for the technical terms) to hide this clipping. And out in the world isn’t much better. I was genuinely disappointed how much copypasta there was in the first zone outside of the Grove. GW2 is just… ugly compared to GW1. It’s depressing when you look at the fantastic GW2 concept art, then the truly poor implementation in the game. Painterly my butt.
- is not totally true(lower skill requirements, better runes/inscriptions ect where added later)
I totally agree on your #2 tough. Just having a few alternatives on a few skills(from 1-5) could mean i can get rid of that totally useless condition damage skill on my crit build, or visa versa. The current system, with both power, crit(damage) and condition damage just limits options severly combined with static 1-5 skills.
Gw2 was just picked up by a professional gaming league and a WvW update is confirmed in February.
February?
Six months post release?
WvW will be dead by then and the people who would have been most interested in it will have moved on. Many already have.
Probably because WvW was one of the few things that was actually working from the start. Both Spvp and and (endgame) PvE where extremly lacking content.
1: The skill builds. Having to pick between hundreds of different skills with onyl 8 slots to create a build.(and the fact that you didnt have them unlocked all at once at the start). Not even starting about skill sychronization between you and your heroes/hench
2: The diffuculty. You really needed to play well to outsmart the AI. ATM I only go down if the boss targets me 10 times in a row(more RNG ftw)) or if I am versus a huge zerg of mobs. I miss the strong AI from GW1.
3: The dungeons & bosses. They just dont feel as good/special in gw2 as they did in gw1. Might have to do with the lack of special drops or the fact that the diffuculty is near non-excistant in most dungeons.
4: Healing on my monk. Supporting in this game is kinda meh, and when you do it, you are usually rewarded with nothing because the current loot system is only about damage.
5; Random arena’s. I wasted so much time on these. Spvp doesnt even come close in terms of enjoyability.

Ascalon catacombs tear vendor in Lions Archs.
The blue glow/particle effect, like on all ghastly weapons, is bugging/dissappearing after shooting the ghastly shortbow a few times, sometimes it doesnt even show at all(yes, it was night-time, my ghastly dagger and sword DID glow). This happened in alot of different area’s in the past few days. The weapon is transmuted, but it had the same problem before i transmuted it.

I am sorry but what is broken in the first place? People undercutting others will always happen.
