I’m in the same boat…
I just completed the second to last mission, expecting to be able to continue on… Now I’m just disappointed. I even hoped against the odds that perhaps there was some dialog option with the npc at the entrance or some other entry point that would grant me access to a ‘personal story mode’ as opposed to the ‘dungeon story mode’ but of course that didn’t work out, haha.
The biggest problem I see is that while I can easily fit in little bits of my time to play solo, as someone who works and is enrolled in a Ph. D program I am often unable to find the time to play based on other people’s schedules (guildies), and if I were to PUG it a couple of difficult encounters for the group might make it hard for me to finish on time, which is unfortunate for me and the group I’d be leaving.
This is compounded by the fact that people who are interested enough in the personal story are probably also biased toward wanting to complete the dungeon story as well (myself included)…
I wouldn’t have any trouble doing this leisurely over a long period, but now the last personal story mission is also the last dungeon story mission. Anyone (I assume) who is in this for the story and the lore isn’t going to get through all of the earlier personal story missions just to then skip a large share of other story elements, so someone in my situation probably is not going to be able to complete the story in it’s current state for some time.
And yes, I understand that a lot of these constraints are self imposed, but they are also based on an understanding on how the last 40+ story missions worked… very disappointing.
I wonder if saved chests from before the event will have a chance of providing event items when opened during the event. This would seem most likely if all they do is alter the loot table of chests, which would probably also mean that event items wouldn’t drop from chests opened after the event.
The reason why people like Gabe Newell are so upset is that Microsoft is going to have a central location to sell games and just about any other software from a marketplace right on your desktop, which is what Valve does. Again, only the tablet version, Windows RT, will be limited with regard to what you can install. I’m not trying to be a windows 8 fanboy or anything; I probably wont get it for at least a year if I do depending on how it might augment my productivity, but the initial response was a lot of crying wolf over the potential for revenue stream disruption, and other loud people like Notch jumped on the bandwagon.
Licensing and the Microsoft app store will not affect steam or gw2 on windows 8; the only real concern is what performance changes come with win8 and how they ’ll affect gw2 etc.
Actually Veritech, steam will be completely available on the ‘normal’ editions of Windows 8. The appstore issue only really affects users of the tablet version. Like Apple, Microsoft is limiting the sale of programs/apps on portable devices running that special version of Windows. You can download and use steam just like you have before.
Back to the thread though, does windows 8 use the same drivers as 7/vista? I’d be less likely to consider upgrading ever if it has the same driver fiasco that Vista had upon launch. If it uses the same drivers I’d imagine that GW2 would perform somewhat similarly. I’d probably wait until the first service pack before upgrading though, just to help ensure that everything is nice and optimized… and fixed.

I really like this idea, I’m constantly forgetting to summon my desired mini-pet. The invisible bags are a nice touch so they don’t end up back in the bank with crafting stuff, but having mini-pets auto-summon every time some game mechanic like teleportation causes them to vanish would be great.

Way back on 8/30 I submitted ticket #120831-002406 regarding my upgrade to the digital deluxe edition. I recieved everything, except the skill. My main character (Mesmer) had just turned level 30, and he still lacks the skill today. All lower level characters have it opened (obviously they cant use it until level 30, but it’s ready for them when they get to that point).
I also posted about the issue in this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Upgraded-to-Digital-Deluxe-edition-but-did-not-Recieve-Mistfire-Wolf-Elite-skill/first#post34274
It seems that other people have had same issue, but we haven’t heard anything back. For me it’s been almost 2 weeks, and I saw today that my ticket was closed without resolution.
I understand that you’re prioritizing inaccessible accounts, but given that this issue also directly relates to monetary transactions and lack of delivered value I would respectfully request an update
Also: You might wish to reconsider the e-mails you sent out today advertising the deluxe edition upgrade. You’ve been aware of the issue, you haven’t (as far as I can find) provided any insight into the problem, and now it seems like you’re advertising the service. Loving the game, just wish I had everything that I paid for, thanks!

Upgraded to Digital Deluxe edition, but did not Recieve Mistfire Wolf Elite skill

I reported the same problem on 8/30, still no response to my support ticket (120831-002406). It seems to be only happening on my main who had just turned level 30 when I made the purchase. It seems like my lower level characters are just fine and have the skill.
