Shibbi Shwing – King of The Reavers – GM of [RVR] -Isle of Janthir
The Reavers – WvW Guild – www.steamcommunity.com/groups/reaversguild
We’re always having some great fun in WvW, breaking zergs with a third of the numbers
I think the lockout needs to happen, or it needs to be paid already. It’s been a month – if you haven’t landed on the server your friends are on yet, you aren’t going to. No one should need more than 1 free transfer to figure it all out.
Still hoping for an ArenaNet response on the status of these transfers.
People are fair-weather hopping left and right the moment their server starts to fall behind, which only makes it that much worse when entire guilds transfer off a server just because they aren’t in first place in their current match up. It makes balance impossible and rankings meaningless when the server populations are fluctuating like this.
GUILD: The Reavers [RVR]
Server: Isle of Janthir
Guild Leader: (Commander) Shibbi Shwing
Guild Size: Medium (70-100 members)
Vent: Yes, required for WvW activities
Website: www.steamcommunity.com/groups/reaversguild
Officers: Rashim, Draxyn, Madmoor, Faysor, Trifle Maldiavolo, Canas Prime
Strong Need For: Elementalists, Rangers, Mesmers, Guardians
Currently Recruiting: All classes
The Reavers are a long standing guild with a primary focus on MMORPG PvP, specifically world PvP. We have a combined 30+ years of experience in Dark Age of Camelot and a core member base that has played virtually every MMORPG that’s ever existed. We have been the cream of the crop in every game we have played since our inception in early 2008. Our most famous exploits are remembered fondly in Age of Conan, where we took part in the first Legendary Battle Keep raid on the Scourge server and triumphed over Swagger, as well as in Warhammer Online, where anyone who ever played on the Ironfist server will remember domination that was The Reavers.
We are currently in open recruitment for Guild Wars 2 for an additional 15-20 open slots of any combination of race and class. We are looking primarily for experienced PvP’ers with a healthy interest in dying a glorious death on the fields of battle where you will be remembered not for the name you wore but the deeds you’ve done and the banner you fought under. As a guild, our primary focus is World vs. World content and organized, tournament style 5v5 PvP. We will also be exploring raidable content and PvE objectives but do not expect any server firsts from us in that regard.
Our steam group IS our official web page and is used for primary announcements that cannot be made in game as well as event planning that cannot be made in game, as well as staying in contact out of game.
Our recruitment philosophy is that there three types of players: The good, the uninformed, and the stupid. You can teach an uninformed player how to be a good player, but there is no fixing stupid. With that said, there will be a mild try out consisting of myself and the First Officer, Rashim, as well as the rest of the officers evaluating your skill in PvP. We look for:
The ability to play your class correctly and efficiently
The ability to follow directions with haste and without objection in open world vs world.
How well you bring value and additional knowledge to our overall PvP activities.
A personality that meshes well with the guild culture.
During this try out, you will be added to the guild as a Supplicant. Upon completion, should we accept you fully into our ranks, you will be bumped to the first member rank and made a part of the Corpse Crew. The try out phase is expected to last 2 weeks. For a full list of the guild hierarchy, please see the primary description section of the Steam group.
Anyone with pre-existing experience in Dark Age of Camelot will definitely get some bonus points when looking at recruitment.
Once you have joined our steamgroup, please leave a post in a reply to this thread with your in game name, then contact a member of the leadership. For a list of officers to contact, please see the primary description section of the steamgroup.

I dislike the stat boons. But I’m loving the custom banner one – even better if you could slam your guild banner down on people!
F5 and F6 idea was also nice to a degree but I’m not sure if that would happen. I would really, REALLY love to be able to see the banner one implemented in some form.
Close down transfers to winning servers.
done.
This doesn’t solve spying.
In response to that other guy : just because there is occasional player fights over a building doesn’t mean it is pvp.
PvP should be a very highly coordinated battle.
^ Not going to see that in wvw or spvp, at all, don’t care who youa re or what you say. Not happening.
World vs world is too large for pvp, it is WORLD vs WORLD not Players vs Players. You can literally watch a whole team of possibly 30 die by the other 30 using one spell each that hits multiple targets, that really isn’t pvp, yo, and if you are going to tell me one person can meatshield a full team of thirty for one spell at the same time each, I will not believe anything you say after that either, therefore aoe type spells/attacks will take down multiple targets with the same method. For spvp running and capping with the occasional 5 people following you until they catch you to 5v1 you isn’t really teamplay or pvp either.
Your ignorance literally causes me physical pain. Dark Age of Camelot was GOTY for 4 years in the Player vs. Player category and WvW is almost the same exact combat. Please PLEASE go back to WoW.
I’m incredibly disappointed by the number of proper, serious responses to this inane question. I really expected nothing but trolling and now I feel dumb.
Shame on you, WvW community for being good people.
But it’s still a great idea =)
There’s a thread going on for discussion on possible fixes, I think this is mentioned multiple times. Check it here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/24-Hour-Free-Transfers-Still-Too-Short/
Hoping we can get a response from a man-about-town from Anet, perhaps one with a fancy hat, sometime today or tomorrow.
As a former 8 1/2 year DAoC vet leading a group of many DAoC vets, I support these ideas. +1
Well, if your guild leader is a giant kitten, acts like a giant kitten, and then does kitteny things…
There’s an old saying: If someone’s pissing in your face you have two options: open your mouth or get out of the way.
Or you just chop his kitten off…
I certainly wouldn’t follow a kittenless leader into battle. A leader needs a heavy litter of kittens.
This has been an amazing match up. As of 20 minutes ago, FA and SoS are within 100 points of each other.
I wouldn’t evenkitten on a member of Ruin if they were on fire. Dishonorable at best, exploiters at worst. Doesn’t really matter if the whole guild is guilty or not, I judge guilds based on their guild leader first and their members second, and Archaos is about the lowest person I’ve seen so far in GW2.
7days CD on transfer and you cant transfer to a server that your server is against in World vs World.
This is more or less exactly what I would like to see. +1
You lost me at the first sentence. Of course there are no FR [US] servers, the US does not speak French. While there is no “official” language of country, it goes without saying that the US is an English speaking nation.
Canada is not so official as half the country speaks French. It makes perfect sense for them to want to play on Euro servers where the majority of the population speaks the same language.
I know you say you are not complaining but you really are. You just don’t want to play on a server where people are not playing during the same timezone as you, like all the rest of the self entitled people complaining about “night capping.”
Though please don’t take offense, I am simply responding based on your post.
I created a thread to try and come up with ideas for how to fix free transfers without ruining WvW, hoping for a dev response. If you guys have good ideas or want to contribute to the discussion here is a link:

You are experiencing the internet phenomenon called “lag.”
Welcome to video games.
7 days quarantine from WvW when you transfer. Thats whats missing.
This is more or less what I suggested also. Maybe not a total lockout from WvW, but definitely a lockout from transferring again.
I would also add that pre-launch, I assumed due to the server versus server style of pvp, people would be loyal to their servers…We see a lot of this on IoJ, but it’s a real shame that more people don’t see it that way. Maybe I’m just a realm-prider from DAoC wearing nostalgia goggles.
Umm, you can’t queue from Lion’s Arch since it’s an overflow server. And level 1 players can get to Lion’s Arch by going into the mists and using the portal.
There’s already an official thread for complaining about queues though, so why not just add your thoughts to that thread?
Looks like you may also be slightly misinformed – you absolutely can queue from Lion’s Arch if you are in the overflow server by walking into the portal.
Lion’s Arch itself is also not an overflow server, but, like all areas, the potential to have one can arise if there are too many people in the primary instance.
3- It takes about 8 seconds to get to Lion’s Arch at level 1. Fatal flaw there though as a fully exotic’d level 80 I understand the point wanting it that way.
Was never a problem in Dark Age of Camelot, and doors there have worked the same way for 10 years.
Last week on Isle of Janthir, we were the victims of Eradon Terrace abusing the free transfer system to both spy on our movements and recruit people from our server to use the free server transfer to move to Eradon Terrace, in addition to abusing the Commander buff to intentionally move our pug forces to the wrong locations.
Now, while this was extremely despicable and exploitative, it is not currently happening to us again – though I hear it or something similar is happening to many other match ups.
There is now a new problem I have seen: there is a large amount of people and entire guilds that are simply server hopping to whichever match up is winning. Queues are bursting with fullness which is fantastic, except a huge chunk of the players clogging the queue literally just transferred to our match up to be a part of better action, or to be a part of the winning side.
While this isn’t inherently bad, many of these people transferred off last week, or are simply hoppers. Or spies. Or abusers. I spoke to someone yesterday who was interested in joining my guild “just so he could have one on this server for when he transfers here again.”
Can you please elaborate on why the decision to go from no-cooldown transfers to only 24 hour cooldown transfers was made? I understand fully that due to the guesting issue, people who want to play with friends should have that right without monetary penalty. But really, how many transfers does it take to end up on the one with your pals?
I would like to know what the plan is for the future in regards to these transfers, and I think many of us would like at the very least a “We are aware of it” response, to the issues that these extremely short and easily exploitative server transfers cause to World vs. World in terms of unbalancing server populations and allowing users to create exploits. If the match ups are presently 1 week long, why are the free server transfers not 1 week long as well? Would that not give people the opportunity to relocate without creating exploitative transfer issues?
I am merely looking for clarification and understanding, and any you (or another ANet representative) can provide for myself and the community would be fantastic.

That really sucks dude.
But it’s all a moot point, Askalion Hills is mine. It belongs to me. It’s the golden skull of The Reavers that hangs from it’s ironclad walls. You wouldn’t have taken it anyway.
Glaucon.6298He’s climbing in yo window, he’s snatching yo people up….
Hide yo kids, hide yo girlfriend, hide yo wife
The awkward moment when a player doesnt know the differences between a real war and wvw…
keep in mind in a real war the soldiers on a battlefield are in the same timezone when they fight usually… if you shoot at a sleeping soldier he wakes up.
Silly real life comparison artermiz :/
Bro, I got news for you.
If you shoot a sleeping soldier, he doesn’t wake up. Can’t even believe this had to be explained.
I support this idea. +1.
I can only imagine the laughter of the Dark Age of Camelot community at all these WoW players complaining about “nightcapping”
Ive never played wow.
Yet your sense of entitlement rivals some of Azeroth’s finest.
I can only imagine the laughter of the Dark Age of Camelot community at all these WoW players complaining about “nightcapping”
Summary:
They played when I was sleeping and that’s not okay! KICK THEM OUT OMG!
My boys and I were in Sea of Sorrows last night, takin yo’ orbs, killin’ yo friends and family members.
I am digging hard on this match up. Haven’t had a chance to get in yet today to see how it held up over night, but [RVR] is having a blast, especially going against the Knights of Beer and Glory I think were the name? You guys might wanna drink less (or more) next time =)
This match up I think is going to be the ideal “check out what real WvW is” unless it’s somehow gotten insane over night. Everything was very close last night.
Spicyhash.7605^ SoS and FA are teaming on IoJ because we’re winning. This isn’t how it should be. Wvw should be 1v1 and not 1v1v1. Terrible servers will make alliance and that isn’t fair to anyone. You shouldn’t kid yourself when you’re bad.
This man is the best player on his entire WoW server. We should listen to him.
It’s occurred to me that all foul words autofilter to kitten.
Greatest.
3) made me snart.
Well, I can’t speak for others, but I know that almost all of the 80’s in [RVR] are in full exotics. Though there definitely seems to be a lot of wet noodles flopping around on all sides.
This week is our week. Let’s be men and do men stuff all over our new match up.
I feel that it needs to be said, that as long as you are having fun, you are winning. The point values mean nothing – if you have fun, you win. If you shed the blood of your foes, you win. If you took a supply camp and held it for 4 hours with only 8 people using 5-6 ballistas against a horde of 40-50 people, you win. Even if you lose it in the end, you’ve won. Don’t get discouraged or lose spirit because another server is beating us in points.
[RVR] hopes to see you all in the field tonight, and to whomever our new enemies are: may your impending death be a glorious tribute to the fields of battle.
Kill for the dead! Kill for the living!

I read the OP and nothing else.
I endorse the OP and this thread.
Challenge declined.
Everything should be paid for in PvP oriented currency, be it supply or tokens or karma you get in PvP.
I think it is an area where Pay to Win has an influence, I am sure the more dedicated PvP guilds would have players that would be prepared to convert money into gems into game currency to fuel the WvW fires than the more casual players.
It has been an issue in other PvP oriented MMOs, especially EVE Online where some war efforts were funded on real money and I am not talking nickel and dime stuff either, talking serious money being forked around for the sake of I-honour.
WvW should be more about the merit of the players, not who is prepared to go deeper into the pockets.
I think you are speaking from the perspective of a low level. I highly advise you to continue leveling up and re-evaluate your opinion once you are a higher level, as obviously the costs to a level 30 are going to be much more hard hitting than the costs to a level 60-70-80 player.
I would laugh anyone out of my guild if they felt they needed to spend hundreds of dollars on gems to create enough money to participate in WvW. Have you even looked at the exchange rate? $20 gets you more gold from a chinese farmer than it does from gems.
I don’t think your issue is with costs of World vs World as a whole, but instead with the cost of repairing armor. Which I agree can be expensive at times, but spending 10 silver to repair broken gear at level 80 isn’t a big deal, so it gets easier as you go on. The amount you pay for repairs doesn’t go up as dramatically as the amount of money you can earn does as you gain levels.
I do think it should probably be toned down a bit in the lower levels, though. That, and fast travelling is expensive as hell too.
I agree – we’ve had some good battles, though the odds are stacked against us. I hold nothing against ET as a whole.
And to maximumpanda, we also appreciate a decent fight. Let me know when [RUIN] is actually up to par skill wise so they can give one to us.
Even the worst Islander is worth 10 members of Ruin in open combat. Good show.
