I guess everyone forgets signet of the hunt with a passive 25% movement increase. Power rangers are a joke in melee range and dodging the rapid fire is so easy its laughable. Rangers as a class need a complete rework. The pets are almost useless. Traps are a joke. LB is way overpowered and SB is way underpowered.
I’ma dissect your post bruh, as its sooooo contradictory. “LB is way overpowered” “dodging the rapid fire is so easy its laughable.” LB isn’t op if you can easily doge/los its main damage source. In general zerk rangers only seem op when the whole team leaves them alone to pewpew, just paying attention to zerk rangers takes that away. Also GS is actually great if you know what your doing, you can do 4-7k via maul and random autos, while kiting via #3 & #4, basically doing a bunch of damage while not getting hit yourself. but anyways…
Nobody forgot about the signet, but nobody takes it in pvp because your giving up too much utility for just 25% movement, maybe if they buffed the active (and that grandmaster in the crit line…) to give the bonus for 3 seconds and not just literally the next attack, and made cd 60, i could bother with it.
And to everyone else in the thread complaining about giving rangers better mobility, i can tell you dont play ranger because…
1. Make the minor trait “Tail Wind” from the Skirmishing trait line usable outside of combat with the 9 second ICD.
*2. Make “Martial Mastery” give 25% movement speed when wielding a Sword or Greatsword.
*3. Lower the cooldown on Warhorn #5 to 25 seconds, also lower the Fury it gives slightly, but maintain the Swiftness so that it becomes about as usual as Warrior Warhorn Swiftness.
two of the three suggestions would only effect ranger in melee, and we can already kite in both, and for tailwind fullglass rangers already have it, would letting it work all the time and not just in combat really be so op? but not to knock OP, i dont know if making melee’ing rangers fast would really help
Ranger is in a good spot, just engi, ele, necro are a little too strong atm for ranger to have a place. If you can’t find a place for ranger its probably a l2p issue. Your problem is probably pet control.
Ok so, “Rangers are good, l2p”. Your post isn’t actually saying anything, I mean thats cool and all but I actually laid out my thoughts on rangers, and why I believe they are not up to par. Rangers getting more viable once the cele meta gets inevitably nerfed is a good thing, but thats just a case of class A “looking” better because class B got worse, not because class A actually got better itself. Ranger is still gonna suck after the nerfs. I honestly have no idea why any team would pick a zerk ranger over a thief or mes, what does a zerk ranger even bring to the table?
But anyways, what are your actual thoughts on rangers?
lol, just open up the pvp score sheet thing while in a match, and right click players. If it says “Join Party” there in a party, and if the enemy team is like that…

bruh. For your other suggestions, I’m not nearly esports enough to know how to balance the other classes, but ranger is not in a good place, as all their builds suck comparatively to other classes.
Spirits? I think they could kill the ICD on all of them and just make it, 1sec burn, 1sec prot, 2sec swift, and 15% dmg increase per proc. Or something else along the lines of “more buff uptime” because 2s burn/3s prot per 10 seconds is just bad to me. Also, spirits need some aoe-spam protection, jus some though
Condi? It duels on sidepoints well enough but every other condi-centric class (Engi’s, necros) is aoe condi spam, rangers is mostly single target. That and how engis and necros have way more cc, granted necros has mediocre-ish escaping utility.
Power? So LB/gs zerk pewpews right? Their basically long-range thiefs without the mobility, or mesmers without the portal, or freshair eles without the minor support from attunements/aoe stuff. Basically, LB rangers don’t have anything to offer besides burst, which every other zerk thing can do while giving some form of support
all in all, to me, rangers lack some form of party support/party play, which hurts the more organized your pvp’ing is
So, on the assumption I can talk about pvp dailies too…man, there bad. 1) You can get a daily to play a class you don’t actually have 2) they make matchmaking much worse than it should be by class stacking to the point of 3 of a class on one team. “Play x class” dailies should be removed
In the match I got 3 thiefs on my team, and the other team had 2 thiefs and 3 warriors. lol
well, the only “extra” they can give is burst damage from 1200 – 1500 range away, in a secluded area. if they find a good position to camp and snipe away.
More like 1800 range lol, but yeah. the only place that even really matters is legacy of the foefire, where you can snipe away at mid while also being close enough to a sidenote incase someone tries to steal it
team utility > pewpew at the end of the day though

In my opinion…The fact that whatever they do, other classes do way better
Spirit Ranger – Every 10 seconds, you give 2 seconds of burning and 4(?) seconds of protection, and every 2 minutes a possible res. I mean seesh, cele eele/bunk guard/shout war does aoe support better
Condi – Necros/engi’s do condi spam better, and mostly aoe. Most ranger condi spam is single target
Power – when compared to mesmer or thief bursting, its lack luster, as thief has insane mobility for back capping/+1’ing fights, and mesmer has portal, while lb/gs does nothing extra besides the burst
In my eyes ranger doesnt have anything “extra” to it to give it merit in this meta
