We don’t want tidbits of information, we want to know why there are 2 people working on class balances and why Warriors and Engineers and nearly every other class got some significant changes while all we got was Harpoon damage increased by 50%.

My expectations of them fixing our utility skills was NOT a 10% increase in chance for a 100hp spirit to give me 2 seconds of +10% damage.

Calling them out will do nothing but get your thread locked/deleted dude.

Also, the problem could be more complicated than just one or two little code fixes. Since you have no clue as to the severity of the situation on Arena Net’s end, you have no weight to pull in commanding them to fix it.

Pets F2 skills make the pet run to the target before using.

ShinraGuardian.8053

I’ve been noticing that when I have my pet on avoid combat (in dungeons with mass aoe) and I tell it to use its F2 skill (primarily brown bear and the fern hound) it runs toward my target before activating the skill, like its trying to get in range of the enemy to use an allied condition removal skill on it.

This is really annoying because most of the time I use the skill, the pet runs out of range of me and I do not get the benefit. I assume this happens with all pets that do not have an attack skill for their F2.

The pet is supposed to be MY companion, I shouldn’t have to miss out on effects that others get from MY pet simply because I am at max range and my pet decides to try and buff the enemy.

To everyone posting “Dontain says” threads: there have already been several threads promoting his video. Please stop spamming the board with new ones. I don’t know who Dontain is, but I’m guessing he’s a Youtuber/TwitchTVer who sent his minions to the four corners of the internet to promote his channel(s). Whoever he is, we don’t need three topics a day telling us what to think about Guild Wars. Most of us, I’m sure, can make up our own minds on the subject. Thanks.

Anyone can make up their minds. Only the ones who know the facts and both sides of the story can make informed opinions and actually make a change for the better.

Facts? So everything in that video is factually correct? There’s no baseless speculation contained within? The facts presented aren’t slanted by the author’s subjective opinions?

When one person says something, it is an opinion. When hundreds of people are saying it, it may still be an opinion but that means more people acknowledge it as a problem, no?

Confusion with gear and how to obtain it.

in Ranger

ShinraGuardian.8053

It would be better to simply level up your crafting so you can make the exotic gear yourself with the desired stats.

The Leatherworking vendor sells the exotic insignia recipes for karma right at the vendor station and they are a lot cheaper then finding exotic gear to buy. Furthermore much of the karma gear does not have very good stats and the crafted stuff you can tailor for your playstyle or build.

The exotic stuff takes all of the top teir mats so you’ll need to farm some in Frostgorge or Orr but that should be expected.

The part about karma exotics not having good stats isn’t true. They have max stats, but the combinations of stats might not always be suitable for what you aim to do with your profession.

Now, as for your question as to which gear to look for.. stat wise, pick stats that match what you want to do as a ranger. if you want to do large amounts of aoe dps, condition damage will increase the amount of damage your traps to considerably. if you are focused more on single target, power precision and crit damage stats would be the way to go.

Also, don’t worry about the look of the gear you get, you can always get different sets to transmute on to your current gear to personalize it

Spirits update

in Ranger

Posted by: ShinraGuardian.8053

ShinraGuardian.8053

If you ask me, GW2 spirits should run on the same design as the guild wars 1 spirits, and then get their stats tweeked.

This would entail the following:

  • Range of their benefits extended. (GW1 spirits could reach something like half the compass range or something. I’m not saying that far, but definitely farther than they are now.) Only problem is, if you extend their range too far, active effects (mentioned below) could become quite the problem in PvE.
  • Constant effects. The proc effects and how often they happen are generally the main reason why I myself do not use them, they are in reliable.
  • (Debatable) Affect enemies and allies. This was truly a great thing that GW1 did well. It made it so that spirits could be powerful but had a draw back: they could also benefit your enemies or hinder yourself.

As for their effects, I like the fact each spirit has a passive and an active affect, but I feel the current ones do not really suit how spirits are right now. I believe their actives have a cast time and only affect an area around them. This is fine, but the thing is, if your spirit is casting a blind to hit the enemies around it…there is a good chance it’ll be dead before the cast ends.

A tweek i would like to see to spirits would be this:

(all these could potentially affect allies/enemies too, if that function of old spirit design was to be brought in)

  • Frost Spirit: Passive: Enemies move X% slower while in range of the spirit. Active: The spirit intensifies its aura causing the slow to be increased to Y% for an amount of time.
  • Stone Spirit: Passive: Allies in range have X amount of extra health (going off the idea that stone elementals generally have more HP) Active: Allies gain X% damage reduction for a certain amount of time.
  • Storm Spirit: Passive: Allies move X% faster while in range. Active: Allies inflict Daze on their next attack (or stun if hit from the side or behind?)
  • Sun Spirit: Passive: conditions inflicted by allies lasts X amount of time longer or deal X% more damage. Active: Inflicts a random condition(excluding Daze Stun and Immobilize) to all enemies in range of the spirit/on an allies next attack.
  • Nature Spirit: I think the way this spirit works is actually pretty OK.

These ideas could possibly make spirits much more useful and fun to have around.

Also, active effects could cause 1 of 2 things to happen to the spirit:
*All actives cause spirits to be weakened, causing the passive effect to be in-active while their ability is on cooldown

*Activating a spirits ability will cause it to forfeit its life in order to strengthen/add additional effects.

Why a precursor scavenger hunt?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Let me put this in terms of the Jedi.

If the ways of the jedi were easy, there would be hundreds of them instead of dozens.

If getting a precursor was easy, there would be hundreds of legendaries instead of dozens.

Problem is most of the employees I have seen all play warrior…

Lets talk Mounts

in Suggestions

ShinraGuardian.8053

You have a waypoint pretty much every 50 feet. Mounts would really do nothing that these cannot already do. If you want to ride a mount from LA to Cursed Shore, be my guest and take a half hour to do so, I’ll just click the waypoint and spend 3 silver (something you can kill a couple of monsters to get) to get there instantly.

They already said they aren’t going to put mounts in the game because they feel it takes away from players enjoying the world around them.

Each class trait changes Confirmed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ShinraGuardian.8053

ShinraGuardian.8053

This is a bad idea.

Not all traits need to be changed. Many of them are quite fine as they are. Even some of those considered “bad” by most players, such as flat 10% increases, do have their places among traits.

Changing ALL traits feels like a knee-jerk reaction to the way some traits are bad. This won’t lead to a fix – making so many big changes will take a very long time, and ArenaNet will need even longer to balance everything after those changes have been first implemented.

Instead of changing everything, they should focus on changing the really bad and the bad traits, leaving everything else as it is today.

To be honest, even if all current traits don’t need adjustments, you don’t know what they are changing. If they change some traits, they could make others that are fine pointless to use or may make new mandatory pairs of traits due to how good the combo becomes.

Why do PvE bosses seem to equate to...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ShinraGuardian.8053

ShinraGuardian.8053

One with combat that doesn’t consist of mindlessly blowing cooldowns, or one with boss encounters that aren’t just trash mobs with ridiculous health pools, or one with real PVE progression that’s an actual challenge.

You know, one not like Guild Wars 2.

I agree with this 100%. I literally hate trying to play this game in pve because its so faceroll easy. The only hard thing about this game is that it takes 2 mintues to kill anything that isn’t a boss. Even then it isn’t hard, just annoying as hell. Hopefully their PVE Content changes in January/Feb/March will change it so it is both more fun and challenging and maybe even give us gear progression other than 5 fractal dungeons for ascended gear.

Hmm… So WoW also isn’t real MMO because I’m most certainly playing that game this way.

You probably don’t play WoW to the extend of end-game raiding. Most encounters have a good deal of mechanics you need to pay attention for rather than “Oh look red circle on ground, I should dodge roll”.

Call me the odd one out, but I actually enjoy farming.

I have a particularly stressful life outside of the internet, there are many things I do to deal with it, but possibly my favorite one is beating the living daylights out of every monster I see, even if I don’t get great items I still have fun doing it.
