As horrible as it is. You can push each lane with 10-15 people. So a total of 30+ for the whole map. If EVERY ONE knows what they are doing, you can push all the way to boss area in ONE hour. As you push a map, more and more people show up. Especially if you have a solid command team. Will it always work? No, but better to try then not! Best of luck!

CHERRY PICKING, that’s all this is. Cherry picking, every one is taking something out of context to raise their subjective information. This is Subjective information, this is your opinion on the game, YOUR OPINION! Where are your sources? Link your statistics? You keep throwing out numbers, percentages, and referring to other games. Where? Link an article written by a DEV. Stop cherry picking each other. Show me actual valid written proof of your claims. That making hard core content is what kills a game. Wildstar flopped for a lot of reasons. But of course, you wont list them all, you’ll just cherry pick things to make your argument valid.

Why did Anet make HoT hard….Because we wanted it. The community as a whole wanted it, and where are my sources? Colin, from Anet when they went to pax! The community requested harder content. The casuals that claim that they should make content for every one? They did make it for every one, every one here complaining the HoT is to hard? Bull crap! If you keep dying, then group up! Oh no! You mean you have to talk to strangers! In an MMO! What will you do! GASP! You have a life out side of the game with real life responsibilities? You cant be asked to actually apply yourself to the game for rewards?

That is utter crap! The term Casual is wrong! Casual means a lot of things, Umbrella term is the phrase. Every one is cherry picking! There’s that term again! CHERRY PICKING. You are taking information out of context, to make your argument valid. But it doesn’t make it valid, it makes it childish! If you don’t like Gw2, here’s some advice

STOP PLAYING IT!

Casual: The term or idea of a player that does not play a game for extended period if time:
Casual:The idea that a player enjoys the game, wants to be good at it, and wants to take the time to be good at it, but doesn’t have the time to play as much as they like.
Casual: The idea of a player that wants rewards, wants to feel special, with out actually doing any work.<—— This one applies to most of the people in this thread.
Casual:Plays the game simply because they enjoy it, they don’t freak out or Q.Q when they die, or lose a boss battle. They simply get up, crack a joke and try again.<—-That’s me.

There are over 4 million people subscribed to Gw2, As many of you claim, more then half of those are Casuals. If you can get a written supported claim of 1 million people that are Casuals Claiming that the game is to hard? Then I’ll recant my response, and bow to your ideal’s, and you cant just say so, you have to actually show me the proof! But I am 90% sure, most of you will read this post, scoff at it, and utterly ignore it.

Where are these numbers coming from? People say minority, majority, average? Where, list your sources? Less then 10% of the players of Gw2 use this forum, and less then 6% of those 10% actually reply and post. (Gasp! Where are my sources! I don’t have one, I just spoke to a few people and they gave me this number) HoT is an expansion, its made to be hard! Because that’s what people wanted! Its like a dungeon, You go into Arah…Path 3. By yourself, unless you know what your doing…Guess what you will die! Same thing with HoT, you can travel the HoT by yourself, you will die! Several, several times! But you know what? You get back up, ask yourself how it happened, and change your tactics. Casual content, no you want to be spoon fed. My Grand Father plays this game, He has arthritis, he has dementia, but playing this game helps him focus, and he spends time with his grand children. He plays maybe two or three hour a week. He is Casual, and when ever one of the Kids in this game complains about it being to hard. He laughs! Because if he can do it! Then why cant you!? People say that the casuals are the bread and butter? Show me your source? Show me your statistic? Casuals come and go like the summer wheat, Hard core players stay till thing dies!

People to this day! Will not, and or are afraid to go to Arah! Because they claim its to hard….Really? No! I’m sorry, Arah is easy to do, all you have to do is learn the mechanics, learn the enemies! And BAM! You win, the same thing applies to this game. Learn the mechanics, learn the monsters, and learn what works best. If your running through the game, with ONE weapon set, and expect to face roll through. Thats YOUR fault! Not Anets!

[Suggestion] Temples Need a Change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Shorok.9706

If a temple is controlled by the risen, call a force to retake it? If a temple is cleared, go get your gear, if your looking for the trait skill you get from both defense and claiming. If you want to take the temple but its clear, then jump to another shard. Or wait till its attacked. I would like to see a Clock on each temple when your in that specific map telling you when it was going to come under attack. I would love it, if it took twice the amount of players to HOLD a temple then it took to take the temple.

But asking Anet to “Speed up the process” is the age old term of being Spoon Fed. I’m a old style gamer, that grew up on the ideal that you should earn your rewards. If it took you over a year to get a set of armor and gear, it made it that much sweeter when you got it.

And to the Casuals which I always hated that term, because it creates a stereotype of lazy players, which about 80% of them simply have busier lives then others. I still think you should have to work for it, sorry. I say this because I use to be a casual gamer, if it took me TWO years to get a set of gear, it made it all the sweeter. But I guess that’s just me.

Ascended trinkets, accessories, rings, can be earned through other means, while Ascended gear in it self takes some effort, Celestial Ascended gear is a LONG process. However, in all honesty. Celestial stats are not very good, they make you a B+ Average student. You are good at everything…. But a master of nothing. I know this, because I run celestial. Why would you want to run Celestial on ALL of your characters? Why not run Celestial, Knight, Zerker, Rampage, you know diversity. Go watch some Death n Taxes video’s they have helpful guides to all kinds of stats.

OR! You can just go run fractals over and over on top of your charged quartz, and get the chance of fractal ascended gear drops! ^.~

I agree, there are a lot of cool animals out there rangers should be able to tame. Maybe create a stable ability, or a limited amount of pets you can have on the side line. I’m sure this would cause confusion and complaints if you couldn’t catch them all and use them all. But given the choice of more creative number of pets. I think it would be nice.

Shorok.9706

Best way to get around this, though its not perfect is to add something at the end of each reply you do. Its a hassle, and tedious, but it slows down the suppression. In example when your fighting Teq and defending the batteries. I’ll call "Batteries@#$. "Batteries^&*, Batteries@#%^. This helps so down the game from suppressing you. But I really wish the spam filter could be optionally turned off an on. Makes managing events a lot easier. Also, why is that when you put some one on ignore you can still see their personalize emotes?

Megaservers and RP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Shorok.9706

I don’t often take the time to post anything on the Forums given my reputation, but I’m confused about this thread.

I have played several MMO’s, and played games that implemented the Shard/mega server idea. Yes, it builds and creates a stronger community of players. Because you go from having two people in an uncommon zone, to having 50 people in an uncommon zone. This creates a pro and con aspect. Some people enjoy adventuring alone or with a friend and despises the large crowds. While others love the feel of dozens of people doing the same event. I enjoy both!

I am a guild leader of a Role Play guild on TC. Chains of Duty [RPcd] I have heard that people say that we are largest RP guild on TC, and I have heard people state that we do not do any kind of RP, Not sure how that works when we have Role Play Guild in our guild tag. We are an Action immersion RP style. Basically, we play the game and RP along the way. We are IC while we do everything, dungeons, WvW, crafting, etc
All of this is more or less pointless information to the thread, I am simply trying to paint a picture.

We hold an event on Saturday, called The Crusade Across Tyria. This is an OPEN RP event where any level can join. We have held this event for over a year. Home to TC, and we are still doing it with the mega servers. Thanks to the mega servers we have actually encountered MORE RPers in Gw2. Because like so many, most people don’t read the forums, or research about the game, they join, and select a home server, unaware of any community in the game. Most people don’t know there is a website of gw2rp.com that is meant to advertise RP on TC, and PK. They advertise events, and help encourage Social interactions. I don’t use this website to advertise our RP events. I Message my guild members that don’t rep, message the people that are my followers, then jump to almost every region with a simple advertisement of where we are meeting. We meet up, and RUN across the world of Tyria. We fight, do events, do champions, thanks to our numbers we stack events and what would be normally veterans become champions. All the while, we are talking IC. We stop at havens, forts, cities taking breaks so people can do more in depth RP. With emotes, paragraphs and the like.

We will come across other guilds doing RP, (And this is the problem) We run into them and they ignore us, WE say hello, try to interact, and they ignore us. I have 30 people with me, all of them an RPer in some fashion, running across the world on a crusade to Orr, and other RPers look at us, and turn their noses up at us. Because, thanks to several nice people in these guilds. Tell me, that a majority of the RPers don’t consider our version of RP, as Role play.

Role play is dying on Gw2, because of this! Role players are ignoring Role players. Hard Core RPers will not RP with casual comical RPers. If you had to place RP in a level system of 10. The people that jump around, talk, and are being silly. (But not trolling) Are basically level 1…2 of the RP scale. Then the people of level 8…9…10. Get mad at them, for not RPing to their standards.

Role play is a wide, and open scale, comes in many shapes, styles, and sizes. The problem is the RP community is so different, we are not communicating. THAT is why, it will die off in gw2. The mega servers are not responsible for killing RP. RPers are responsible.

I have found 30+ more people that enjoy RP, that have Converted to the play style, that I never would have met if not for the mega servers, and THEY never would have started if not for the mega servers. I read your complaints, I understand, Trolling is crappy, and I wish there was more we could do. But RP is dying, because Role players look at other people and go, They are not following the same rules, standards as I am, so I am going to ignore them!

What you should do, is sit down, talk it out, adapt, change, grow, make a compromise. Or you can just sit on your island and burn any branch or bridge that is made in peace. My guilds events will continue to be public, will continue to be a different version of RP. A lot of people join, meet other people, and go off and do their of version of RP later. My guild helped two people meet, that would have otherwise never seen each other because A) We held a RP event open to the public, and Because the mega server brought a Fort Aspen Wood, and Black Gate players to a Tarnished Coast RP event.

Tuesday, July 2nd The Order Chains of Duty Role Play Guild successfully completed their RP pilgrimage! As always we started in Metrica Province, and ended in Cursed Shore at the Way point of Gates of Arah. Last night’s record was Duo Confined Human male necromancer. Came with us at level 3, finished with us at Arah at level 13. He got the game that morning, he now has all of the Dungeon WP’s in the game, as well as several WP’s across the world so he can easily level, and explore. The event was of course all IC. A combination of Chat text RP and immersion RP. The pilgrimage is a great way to learn how to play your class, learn team work, to be aware of your surroundings. The pilgrimage completed the Claw event in Frost Gorge, we also pushed the Northern invasion in Orr; Straights of devastation, and took the Temple of Balthazar. We do this Role Play event every Tuesday noon server time.

This Friday, we have a special RP event, one of our Order members is a Norn who is performing a Norn culture spirit shrine walk. In Hoelbrak, July 5th friday 10:00 pm server time. Any one is invited! Bring any level, any friend!

This Sunday, July 7th noon server time we have are customary RP map completion, we meet in Ebonhawk city, central heart of the town. Where we VOTE on a region to complete. All In character. You can get to Ebonhawk by going to Divinities Reach, in the east quarter of the city is a portal that takes you to Ebonhawk. Which means any character no matter the level can get to Ebonhawk.

Then Sunday night we have our WvW RP event/ Noob squad event. We meet in Black Citadel at the Vigil chapter house. We then VOTE on a border land to fight in. We do light Role play, but its mostly an event to help teach people about WvW. We have gotten good feed back from the event! The Order looks forward to seeing you there!

Hello! At the advice of my Order I have posted on this forum in order to help advertise our RP events on the server. We have two main events, on Tuesday, and Sunday.

Tuesday Noon server time: On this day, The Order performs the Pilgrimage. Arriving in Metrica Province, from there with all who have chosen to come with us, we run across the Whole of Tyria. Gathering the dungeon Way points, Skill points, and various Dynamic events along the road, traveling to all the Dungeons Portal to the Gates of Flame in Fire Heart Rise, then traveling south doing thus as before finishing at the Gates of Arah, in Orr. We have created the safest and most efficient currently know path across the realm of Tyria. We bring any character or player of level with us. Our Current record is a level 27 human Mesmer. From Metrica to the Gates of Arah. The road is long, so company is always welcome. Pilgrims are welcome to come and go as they please as we progress. But once the pilgrimage starts our Order always finishes it. From just ourselves, to the 20+ people that come with us.

Sunday Noon Sever Time: Map completion day! We all gather in Ebon Hawk Central square. Which can be traveled to by Going to Divinities Reach and walking to the East Quarter. There you will find a portal to Ebon Hawk. Once we have gathered, every one votes on a region that they desire to do. The majority rules, we then travel there, either porting or helping players arrive. Then by process elimination we run across the map, getting every POI, Skill point, Vista, and Heart. Getting map completion. As the event before, any level, RPer, or Player is welcome to join us.

Then an hour or two after the map completion, we meet in Black Citadel to do a RP WvW/ Noob guide squad. It is light Role play, but its mostly a teaching tool! We vote on the Border Land, then commence training, we teach the basics. Castles, forts, towers, depots, basic tactics. How you can help with the war with out killing players. So if you have a slow computer or don’t like PVP. Come with us, we’ll teach you how to help, break you into the war! We hope to see you!

You do not have to be a member of our guild to come to any of these events, all are welcome to RP, or to play with others.

The Order Chains of Duty Role Play Guild [RPcd] is an RP guild that likes helping people, RPer or player. We help all we can, from training about your class, to RP story help, leveling, and dungeons. You do not have to be a RPer to join the guild. But we do ask for you to be considerate of the RPers with in. Representing the guild is optional if you do join. But we do ask if your other guilds allow you. To Rep us during our events for PR. Essentially our guild is a second friends list, or a RP resource.

From a Role play perspective, The Order is a monastery order of monks that train hero’s for Tyria. If any of you played Gw1 you may remember the Canthan Expansion where you are trained as a hero. Our monastery is a splinter from that main sect. But to allow a more open concept to the ideal of Hero’s. We do not change your characters personality or goals. Example; if you are a villain from the Nightmare Court, we will train you. The world needs villain’s as much as Hero’s after all. Who are you suppose to fight after the Dragons are dead. Joining the guild does not make you a monk, but simply a student to our Elders. More information can be shared and answered by Contacting the Order. I hope to see you at our events! Blessings of Tyria be with you!
