Here I’ll answer for you.
Anet: We currently use time-gating to keep people logging in day after day in the absence of compelling content. If/when we figure out how to create engaging and non-repetitive methods of play, you’ll see these types of systems phased out as players begin logging in to play the actual game, rather than click 1 button and log out again.

I could not possibly disagree more. As an owner of the actual t3 armor, the fact that the gemshop variant looked like a cheaply bedazzled knockoff was the only thing that kept me from uninstalling my client outright. If they’d added an exact copy of the cultural armor – indistinguishable from the original – available to any race for a mere $10, I wouldn’t have even bothered complaining on the forums, I would have simply uninstalled and found a new game to play. If Anet had forced the unwanted flame effects on my armor, I would have first demanded a refund of my gold so I could give it to a guildie, then uninstalled and found a new game to play. Of course I can’t speak for everyone, but despite your assumptions, the flame fetish really doesn’t do anything for a lot of people.

Quoted for truth. Whenever a poor strategic business decision is made, someone’s going to get screwed over in the cleanup. Leaving the armor in the game doesn’t satisfy the people who appreciated t3 cultural for its exclusivity, and taking it out of the game doesn’t satisfy the people who rushed to throw money at Anet and may not get the refund to which they feel they are entitled. There is literally no way to appease both of these groups. Anet made a calculated decision here, and I for one am genuinely shocked that they didn’t side with the money. Pleasantly shocked, but shocked nonetheless.

The gold/money they spent is obviously not what they would rather have, otherwise they wouldn’t have exchanged it for the item. ANet can’t give back the time at all. And there is no magic way to give everyone who purchased the new skin each something they would rather have for the amount of time/money/gold they invested.

So what I’m gathering from your posts is that the weeks or months other players spent gathering gold to buy a unique item they could enjoy mean kitten all, but somehow the 45 seconds you spent entering your credit card info are sacred? Understood, and moving on since clearly you’re too obtuse to see the other side of the argument.

I apologize, I thought the entire point, purpose, and definition of “rolling back” negated the need for arbitrary compensation. If the armor was rolled back it seemed painfully obvious to me that so would any gold/gems/dollars/euros/whatevers that had been spent on transmutation crystals and whatnot. Didn’t feel I needed to clarify that rolling back includes both sides of the transaction, not just taking the armor away.

There were three aspects to my original point, which you claim is “incorrect,” so we’ll address them each in turn.

Part 1: Anet can rollback the armors.
This one really isn’t open for debate. It’s technologically possible for them to reset the entire server to its previous state, to simply delete the armor from all players’ inventories, or take any of a myriad of measures that would all result in a game world without the new armor. To claim otherwise demonstrates a remarkable lack of understanding of the fundamental functions of electronic storage mediums and data manipulation in the modern era.

Part 2: Anet should rollback the armors.
This is a subjective opinion, and as such can be neither correct nor incorrect.

Part 3: Anet won’t rollback the armors.
This is perhaps the only third of my argument for which you might have a leg to stand on with regards to its validity. Although I can’t claim to know definitively what Anet will and will not do, I can employ a bit of abductive reasoning. Given what I know about the frequency with which people complain on the forums about patch changes (often) and the frequency with which Anet apologizes and reverses those changes (not often) I can hypothesize that the pattern will continue to hold true for this case. Anet may be able to prove me wrong here, but you certainly can’t and the fact that they have yet to make any public statement of intent and the armor is still available for purchase would seem to indicate that I’ve got the lead here as well.

Of course there’s a way to roll back something like this…theoretically at least. Any competent development team should have a backup of the state of the server prior to any update being applied. Of course therein lies the problem, as in this case “competent development team” can be read as “a development team that works somewhere other than Anet.” As such it’s probably impossible for Anet to perform such a rollback and they wouldn’t even if they could.

This is now the 3rd thread you’ve posted this request in and I don’t see it gaining any more traction here than it did when you created the first topic. Most players who spent the money on the original armor set want to see the gemshop version removed from the game and never seen/heard from again, not added piecemeal to the shop at higher prices.

I DO think that T3 Cultural is grossly overpriced though (especially considering it’s not even Exotic armor), and now that the Flamekissed set offers something that’s (arguably) better for less than half the price, maybe ANet should look at slashing the price for T3 Cultural armor to, say, 20g. Then refund everybody who’s purchased T3 Cultural 100g and a set of 6 Transmutation Crystals per T3 set.

While it’s a great idea on paper, not everyone buys the full set of armor and many have used far more than 6 Transmutation Crystals. Since they can’t even design a new set of armor or code a simple dungeon that isn’t riddled with bugs I can’t say I have faith in their ability to calculate the number/type/cost of pieces purchased across all characters on an account and scale the refund accordingly. For example, I bought a full set of t3 (minus the helm) for one character and have transmuted it probably a dozen times, on another character I have the t3 pants, gloves, and shoulders, which have only been transmuted once. Not even I have an idea what kind of refund they’d have to offer for me to pretend I’m not just waiting for literally any other MMO to come out.

I’ll kindly refer you to my first post in which I commented on how frustrating it must be to be unable to queue your home map on reset night. Either way, it may not have been fully queued but it was pretty close for most of the night so if you really want to complain about being outnumbered 119 to 120 I suppose it’s a valid statement.

Yes though, hills was my one death and I died to falling dmg after jumping into the lord’s room at very low health.

For more offtopic nonsense: point differentials in WvW mean next to nothing. Once the outcome of the match has been decided the vast majority of losing servers tend to lose the motivation for play for ppt, or play at all. This is true for pretty much every matchup. The only thing the differential really indicates is how early in the week the losing side gave up.

FA was beating SBI by 10 percent plus almost the entire time. It was only close to even the first few hours of the match and SBI did surge in the middle but never overtook FA. FA is a stronger server generally speaking. If SBI does beat them, as I said before it will be a big upset.

To put this on topic, there probably won’t be a tie for 1st place in Silver, Gold or Bronze. It could happen but probably won’t.

On Tuesday afternoon of week 1, FA had a 6k lead over SBI. That’s how close it was.
They pulled away on Tuesday afternoon.
Not that it really matters, but if you’re going to post ‘facts’, at least make sure they are accurate.
It wouldn’t be that big of an upset to be honest. Both servers are very even overall. The winner in a FA-SBI matchup generally comes down to the third server. In this case it’s Dragonbrand.
Having Dragonbrand in the matchup hurts SBI more than FA.
SBI and FA are similar strength in NA time and Oceanic time.
SBI is superior in SEA time and FA is superior in Euro time.
So overall it’s very equal. The difference lies in Dragonbrand’s playtime. They are strong in SEA time, minimizing SBI’s PPT capability, whereas Dragonbrand is almost nonexistent in Euro time therefore FA is able to tick high PPT in their strong timezone.
When FA played SBI a few weeks before league, Maguuma was the third server and due to their strong EU time, it minimized FA’s ppt potential during EU and thus FA was promptly neutered overall.
Whatever happens, hopefully it’s fun. =)

First of he doesn’t show THAT it works, but only explains how it works.

Second point is that it is clearly a bug (if it works) and no feature of the queue.

In addition to that its probably not even group related but rather the fact that the first of the queue from that zone moved to a different place, thus moving the new guys that joined the zone and queued, up to the top of the queue. Since they are in a group and teamspeak/mumble they can coordinate and time the relogging and queuing, which makes it seem group related.

And pretty much this tricky bullkitten you have to pull off makes it clear that it doesnt favour groups. In order to say it favours groups it should also work when people group up and queue up at random, but still get the invite to the borderland in a small timeframe

I’m going to ignore the generally feminine-hygiene-producty tone of your response and point out that “the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid,” would most certainly include a video detailing the exact process through which groups can be used to manipulate the queue. Under the circumstances, a video explaining how it works is infinitely more useful than a 5 sec clip of a queue pop with zero commentary as to how it was achieved.

That aside, it’s definitely a bug due to the overall poor design of the “queue,” but it’s also still a feature. Not an intended feature, but a feature nonetheless.

True, the system does not intentionally prioritize groups over soloqueuers, but if someone is using this glitch, the end result is that the guy in the group got a pop for him and all his friends before the guy who queued solo, and now there’s 4 extra people in the BL who’ll need to leave before the solo gets his pop.

I’ve honestly seen nothing but poor showing in fighting terms from this week— now there could be many factors to this as well such as build testing, alts, k train mode,etc. Just want to make you guys aware. Don’t know if it’s cause easy week or what.

Since there is a reward for winning, yes there does need to be a winner. Unless they give the reward to both servers, which is an option.

It has much less to do with the age of the game than it does to do with the engine the game is built on. While the basic code for this exists in the form of melee attack assist it may not be technically feasible to enable on a larger scale.

I dont think you have any evidence to support this claim ? My queue-time is usually about 30% smaller while im not in a group, which would contradict your statement
