One alcohol point from merchant is 8 copper. 100000 is therefore 80g. Or 700k karma. For me the problem is the amount of mouse clicks required.

^
just that.

i can’t believe people even tried to get that grindy achievement through the story.
especially 700k karma is not that much and it takes long enough to do the achievement by only standing in the monastery in queesndale and leftklicking the whole time.
2 klicks to buy, 2 klicks to consume. in total 100000 klicks since each keg nets 4 points.

if you don’t want to transmute anything, u shouldn’t care too much about skins. you will outgrow them fast anyways. and then you’d need a new skin already.

The only exception would be the HoM.

So just use whatever has the best stats and start thinking about nice skins once you’re maxlevel or can transmute them.

Dailies are a punishment to some

the only part of dailies, that punishes people who don’t finish them every day, are the laurels.
if you play 20 hours, but only on the weekend, u can get a lot more karma and gold than someone who plays 7 hours with 1hr/day. thus you can even get more mystic coins and achievement points through the trading post than your counterpart.

the only part which is different are the laurels. but imo that’s the worst part of all, to place a time-gate upon, cause you NEED them, to get best in slot equipment. so if you don’t finish dailies, you’re punished by worse equipment than others for a prolonged period of time time.
that could be fixed by implementing several viable ways to get ascended… but we all know that anet seems to take their time with that…

Quaggan skin + upgrading a Fractal Capacitor

I’m not sure, but i think the name of the item changes depending on the skin. So if you transmute your Quaggan Backpiece, it will become a Quaggan Backpiece with ascended stats and thus you can’t even upgrade it any more.

Can i buy single items from vendors in bulk?

it’s maybe faster than the one for karma, but i’d rather spend 700.000 karma than 80 gold for that title

thus imo Stein of Golden Ale stays the best way.

70 points is like nothing for the title. as kelly said, u need 100.000 points to max it. and the best drink would be the alcohol in the queensdale monastery (28 karma – 4 points). that means 25000 drinks that u have to buy and then use.
i’m currently halfway through and only got so far becuase i spend an evening klicking while watching tv.

More Laurels for lesser gear???

because anet wants you to get rings through fractals & accessories through guild missions.

this way everyone can say “u don’t want to join guilds – just get them through laurels” or “u already hate fractals after grinding out the backpiece u wanted – just get rings with laurels”.
they are totally overpriced, but still there. and anet also kept their word, that u can get the ascended things via several ways. at least somehow (even though they didn’t remove the timeconsuming grind for thes new BIS-items).
u still have only 1or 2 ways to get each piece but hey, it’s better than nothing and maybe in 2014 we can finally get ascended trinkets for a resonable price wherever we want to – and have to think about how to get the armor and weapon…

about the "insignificance" of ascended stats

I just now took my time calculated the difference between a full exotic character and one with all 6 ascended trinkets in regard to the berserker set.

The result did shock me. Throgh these 6 trinkets u gain around 10% more dps in comparison to your exotic counterpart.

For the math and stats i refered to the wiki. And didn’t add any traits, buffs, runes or sigils. So in the end the relative value-difference will be slightly lower.

A full exotic lvl 80 charakter in berserker gear has 916+1002 power, 916+698 precision and 59% extra crit dmg. That transitions into 1918 power, 37% crit chance and 209% crit dmg.
With ascended trinktes u get 68 power, 30 precision and 10% crit dmg. that means a total of 1986 power, 39% crit chance and 219% crit dmg.

Now from the total dps formula u can get a relative comparison:
(1986*139*219)/(1918*137*209)=1,101

In actual combat that value will be slighly lower due to extra stats on runes, buffs and traits, but don’t forget that u still have 6 armor slots and the weapon left. And especially the base dmg on weapons influences the total dmg directly. So a 5% stronger base value will mean 5% more dmg.

I feel too powerful as a lvl 80 going into a low level area

u shouldn’t forget one important point: most lowlevel chars (1-15) run around in white equipment, that isn’t even on par with their own level. Whereas many lvl 80 champs are full rare or full exotic. try running lowlevel zones with only white armor. then u’ll see how it will be a lot harder.

We tried the event chain just now on Riverside. Everything went without problems until good old Fleshgrazer was almost dead. Then he suddenly turnd invincible.

So unfortunately the server restart didn’t fix the problem.
