Gold Transfer Changes

I’m just going to chime in with my personal thoughts on this really briefly.

I dislike restrictions being made to common, honest players. There’s really no need for it, and I feel like I am being punished for the actions of others, which is an injustice of its own.

I, personally, spend an absurd amount of time in-game, and I never neglect to /block & report anyone advertising gold selling… I’m hoping that Anet can do their part and NOT punish regular players simply for the actions of a potentially smaller ‘single digit percentage’ of player’s/accounts that attempt gold selling… I’ve been playing/supporting since the first Wintersday in GW1, and I hope that Anet can pull through and not make a hasty, easy/lazy decision that restricts honest players from doing what they do in GW2 on a daily basis.

Needless to say, I appreciate the time put in by Anet, and thank them for trying to consider the opinion/their players whenever making decisions effecting the game. Thanks!

Feedback on HoT Stress Test [merged]

I’ll be brief, I know there’s plenty of text for Anet to sift through from this event.

Technical Issues
Biggest issue that I saw was concerning a few UI issues with (quick) tweaks that I hope may be implemented. I run GW2 across a triple display setup, so I know these only affect a tiny amount of the player base:
~The glider UI was showing up on the far right monitor, rather than the center one, like the rest of the UI does by default. This included the ‘Deploy glider’ action pop-up, AND the glider endurance bar. If I had not previously known/seen the glider in action, I surely would have missed seeing it the first time.
~The mastery UI. There have been many comments on it, which I agree on. It takes up so much screen real estate, and accessing it was not what most players might expect. Clicking on the bottom bar to pull up masteries is a good idea, but I would suggest merging it in the hero panel near ‘Traits’. As a long time player, that just makes the most sense to me, and that’s where I would go to look for it first.
~~The (potentially) new comment on the current mastery UI concerns the triple display users, again. I click on the bar, and it covers the bottom portion of ALL three displays. This makes it so I have to look on the left monitor for the equipping masteries, and looking at the right monitor to find out information on masteries I haven’t unlocked and want to look into for more information. As an occasional Twitch streamer, that means these things are omitted from my stream video, as well as making it an involved head moving exercise just to accomplish what I want from it.

Overall Thoughts/Comments
I only d/ced from the stress test twice, and I was there for the duration of both events. I only noticed lag a few times, and my FPS was very good, only becoming noticeable/poor a couple times (I do play on a Max settings, with a recently built rig).
Overall, it was a great experience, and I did not notice/encounter anything that may be considered a bug at this point. Thanks for the opportunity!

Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic voice won't play

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

I noticed a few bugs/changes with the audio since feature patch on 9/9/14.

1) Copper-fed seems to start the audio clips, but stops almost immediately.
2) The intercom voice-over during CoE (path 3, if it matters) was behaving similarly or not starting at all.

The biggest change i noticed was in the options… “Audio device:” dropdown only lists “Default Device” now, whereas it used to list speakers and headset I had connected. Furthermore, changing my default device via Windows and restarting the client does NOT seem to be changing the playback device for game audio, although it does for my other programs as usual. I hope there is a fix in the works, because this is highly inconvenient if I have to re-log into Windows or worse yet, restart my computer just to change audio sources for the game, whereas before the feature pack, I could do it freely from within the game with no issue.

It’s a loss of feature at the moment for no apparent reason from the user’s end, and makes it difficult to enjoy the game via my speakers when I’m not utilizing Voip.

LF guild to learn Arah paths (YB)

in Looking for...

I am looking for a helpful guild that can help me learn/complete all Arah explorable paths. A bit about me:

-Yak’s Bend server
-Mains are Ele & Guardian, but have all classes
-Am PvE focused
-9k+ AP
-Willing to listen on Vent/etc.
-Quick learner with strong sense of dungeon/party tactics

The 4 paths of Arah are what I would like to focus on completing next, as they are the last I need for dungeon master, and some of the only content i have not experienced yet. I am open to joining a guild from any server [NA], but if your guild is on Yak’s Bend, it is even better.

Please contact me with details via in-game mail, and thanks in advance!

I’ve finished 4 runs of the new path so far, and had groups with rangers and thieves in half of them. Not only were they prepared, but the runs were among the smoother I’ve had thus far. Haven’t been partied with an engi yet, but i would not exclude them. Knowing your class and contributing to the party/objectives is paramount for success, imho.

I agree, there used to be a well defined difference between using the words newb/noob. I find in most cases anymore, people just use noob, and use it as a relative term (i.e. you might be called a noob if you die most often in a party, regardless of your actual skill playing).

And just to add my two cents on the term “mob”:
As a guild wars (1) veteran, it used to refer to a group of enemies that were well grouped together (i.e. aggro 1, the entire “mob” comes; think about a “mob mentality”, it refers to a group, not a single individual). Having said that, it seems as though the usage has evolved into refering to any number of enemies/hostiles, which people also use to refer to a single target at times (which is becoming more common).

TL;DR:
-Be prepared to contribute to the party, being comfortable with your class/role for success.
-Noob can be a relative term.
-Mob is often 1 enemy, mobs (plural) is a group, in most usage.
