What would you like to see in Season 3?

More lore, expecially side lore. There are tons of interesting stories that are left hanging and the whole lore progress at such a slow pace that I feel like it will never get a proper conclusion for any of the many interesting things happening around the world (some of the fractals for example).

What is the purpose of precursor collections?

SirBigmark.7981

tldr; precursor collections for base game legendaries add no new content to the game and cost more to complete than buying from the trading post.
So why would any player be it casual, hardcore, veteran, or newbie want grind one out?

Unfortunately I agree with your considerations, but seems to me the whole direction of the game since HOT : no lore except a brief main story, a lot of “optional” grind to keep people busy.
Nothing wrong in this as many seems to like the concept, but I too don’t like it so its just a dead feature.
The cost seems a bit overtuned but is the attitude n of the game designer, they want to be “safe” to not devaluate too much one of the most end-game mechanic.
Truth to be told a legendary itself doesn’t feel so legendary when you understand that with a insignificant amount of money (at least in my country for anyone who a have a job) anyone can buy it from the TP.
Your personal journey remain the same, but it feel kinda a waste, like going on top of mount everest to get a bottle of wine that is also sold in the market around the corner.

Hey guys, I want to share the bit of information I have.
I bought the expansion just the day the winter patch gone live, so I’m was a bit disappointed by being unable to play it like everyone here.
This is what support told me:

Yeah, we’re aware of this issue and we’re working to solve it currently. The solution will have to be one that our developers implement in a patch, so please keep your eye on our patch notes. It is pretty major obviously and seems to be affecting quite a few people, and while I can’t provide an ETA, I can say that we are actively working on it.

So leaving your name here is not really usefull anymore (as a staff member in this thread confirmed that the problem was already identified) , and as frustrating as it can be there isn’t much you (we) can do beside waiting for the next patch.
I really doubt that such a game breaking bug will still be unresolved in the coming days

Hey,

Can we get some Character names from you guys? I don’t need account names, just the name of one character from your account.
It would help us track down more information on this issue.

Thank you in advance!

So the chinese gem store is literally pay2win

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: SirBigmark.7981

SirBigmark.7981

Pay to win is not a real thing, there is no dictionary definition of it.
Its just common sense to use it in relation to PvP games that trough money give player and edge since any of the other strange philosohical meaning make no sense.
Maybe because a wrong perception of the world many of you seems to don’t realize that everything can be bought with money, expecially everything related to a game.
Just name an online game and you will see that if a store is not present, if every item is account bound, if you can’t even trade a rocks, people will just sell account.
Its risky sometimes, sure. But money can buy another account, until the transaction is fine.
And that’s the extreme case scenario. You will see a lot of cash→in game money store site for every online game ever made.
So every game is P2 win in the strange made-up way some people described it on this thread.
I’m sorry that you guys dream of a perfect world where you can play a game without the real world make a difference inside the virtual world itself, this isnt gonna happen. The very fact that you can play X hours instead of Y hours depends on the real world itself.
With the real definition instead you can clearly state the difference between a game that give a player an advantage versus the other player directly in the pvp part of it.
And GW2 for sure is not one of them.

Suggestion: dealing with dead ppl

There are only 3 waypoints available in LA, and they’re almost always 10 miles away from the event. Unfortunately, most people are not going to want to run back, when they can wait for a helpful person to rez them.

As I can understand from your reply you are unable to use your ability to run faster and get to the event area quickly. I think you should try to put a little more effort into learning that instead of waiting for others to compense you lack of skill and being unable to play correctly for the rest of your life.

a 90 sec. counter that teleport you to the nearest waypoint and remove any event partecipation seems fine to me.

Warrior’s battle standard is an elite skill, it is used but as it works only on downed state its not that useful. If there are only 2 player down they can be resurrected really fast just by the player, even faster than the cast time. Since there is no coordination in big event like this you can find that you have just wasted you’re elite skill for something that ressed 0/1 player.

Well I’ve seen a couple of time something similar during boss fight.
I’m not really against afk player, it may happens, it may be a way to get an achi, unless they are so many to be overwhelming and ruin the encounter its not a big deal for me.
Still I saw some people go on like “bb guys goin for dinner do the job for me ahah” and nonsense like this.
I don’t get how there is no report function about on purpose disruptive gameplay and also there is no statament on explicit sanction for this, and I don’t mean something huge since I understand that this are obviously people with trouble in real life that need to spread their frustration and sadness inside a game to someone else the feel better, but still we can’t let them act like kids. A 24h ban seems right to me.
As it stand right now if you want to report this you see no compatible option, you suppose that anet doesn’t care and since you don’t even know what they will do if they find that your report is true there is no incetive to go on.

Then people will pay and transfer.
The whole server concept should be removed outside of WvW.
Guesting is a shot in that direction but people don’t understand.
They are “natives”.

[Suggestion] Patch note and changes IN-Game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SirBigmark.7981

Hi guys, since 3 patch ago I’ve stared playing again and I’ve noticed a common behavior. After patch notes many players are unware of what’s happening, why is happening and what they should do.
This is a good chance to being helpful in chat but at same time the same mechanics have to be explained every 10 minutes and this isn’t funny.
The problem may be small for the major release since a lot of people are curious and check the patch notes but get bigger when small patch after the release change something and people that in some way learned an information that is now outaded keep spreading it while others try to explain that is not more valid.
My suggestion is to put a pop up in game after each patch that after the login list the latest change.
This will help the majority of players who don’t check regulary the forum to keep themself updated, and will also be a nice feature for those who already check since they wont need to browse the forum at every small update.
Obviously this won’t solve the problem entirely, and this is fine, people will still be there to offere clarification trough chat, but at least they won’t have to do that as much as now.

Event overflow feedback

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: SirBigmark.7981

SirBigmark.7981

I don’t see any real difference between overflow(s) or main.
People on main are just guys that logged sooner (or are camping afk)?
If event on overflow fail the only possible issue is that there are less players in that specific overflow and since the boss scaling isn’t right the fight is harder.
Then we have a scaling issue.
The suggestion of being able to move from one overflow to another make no sense to me since i dont get how you will be able to tell if the one you choose is filled with “good” or “bad” players.
Random chance is involved with world events, but I found that players a bit less casual tend to guest on some server in particular. That cause the chance to win on those, even if in an overflow, to raise quite a bit.
While guesting on one of those server and while been ALWAYS on some random overflow I won 14 times at least and lost like 2 times.
I’ve tried to explain this to the always present random guy crying in chat that life is so cruel because he is in an overflow but its really hard as english in not my mothertongue, you have to be concise and people don’t really like to accept the fact that their misconception are exposed.

lol people are so selfish that even in a stupid game can’t get over it and prefer to get less if that means that everyone else get less.
If the others aren’t unsatisfied and we have nothing to rub on them face we aren’t happy, right?
That jetpack is so ugly that i pray i can get one to cash out instantly, but the chance from those bag are so low that I consider that a miracle.
So seems that there is little to worry about, just a couple of those will enter the market.

Was disappointed when I saw my horns go away after a TP.
And the sad part is that I don’t think they will ever fix this, because this is how pet works since release (for no apparent reason) and they never fixed that and in that case they even have a direct economic interest into making pet more usable.

Well I never said that he his not from another tree or that the pale tree is the only one, the story of Ronan itself tell that there was a lot of those seeds in that cave.
I just don’t think that the fact that another tree exist is a valid couterargument to the fact that tree may have an evil origin and the pale was somewhat changed by who raised him.
Malyck its just one sylvari that doesn’t know nothing, he may be raised from an evil tree,he may be raised from a neutral tree that turned evil and escaped since then, he may be a xxxxx time traveler for what we know.

Those are good point, but I still feel like Malyck as an undefined entity (with also a memory loss) cannot be taken as a proof. I don’t mean that it doesn’t have a purpose, just that since details are still unclear his existence by himself doesn’t rule out my idea, or at least the most of it. Obviusly since its just speculation I may just have found an idea that I like and that will never be part of the real plot.

RE: Changing the face of Tyria "forever"

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: SirBigmark.7981

SirBigmark.7981

Okay, that sounds like a decent character. So what about Scarlet is radically different so that she’s a bad character?

The difference is that you really have to stretch believability in order to swallow everything related to Scarlet, whether it be her actions or backstory.

A few examples:

- Why do her dredge, flame legion, krait and nightmare court armies seem to pledge complete and undying loyalty to her? Aren’t there any internal power struggles? Betrayals? No? Why not? They have been bullied, pushed around, manipulated, lied to or led into slaughter. Why aren’t any of them upset and why aren’t any of them fighting back?

- Some of the alliances don’t make any sense in the first place. The Nightmare Court have absolutely no reason to ally with Scarlet, let alone the Krait, or at least none that’s been explained in any detail. The Krait allying with Scarlet sort of made sense because Scarlet promised them a prophet, but now that Scarlet has failed to deliver their prophet to them (due to the players killing it), why are they still blindly following her?

- As far as has been revealed to us, the Aetherblades are only allied with Scarlet because she “threatened to kill them”. In exchange, they have pledged their undying loyalty and their entire fleet of airships to her, not to mention allowing her to use them in any way she wishes, even if it results in them getting wholesale slaughtered. Really? Does this make sense? She apparently had the Aetherblades wrapped around her finger even before she acquired her army clockwork soldiers, so what means did she have at her disposal to threaten to kill them all? And if she had some means of killing them all, that would be a pretty powerful weapon. Why would she need clockwork soldiers or a mega-toxin in the first place? Furthermore, now that she can manifest UFO-style portals in the air that drop giant robots out of the sky, why does she even need the Aetherblades or their ships anymore? Why doesn’t she just drop one marionette on Lion’s Arch and be done with it?

- The fact that she’s a Sylvari that has graduated from all of the colleges at Rata Sum (which is apparently a feat that not even a single Asura has accomplished) is preposterous. The Asura are insular, racist, and supremacist. The only explanation we’ve been given so far as to why they let her do this was that “they were studying her”. Really? A race of super geniuses would grant a self-serving outsider access to their race’s best-kept secrets just so they could study her? And after the fact they let her get away? Why? Why make an exception for her? It doesn’t make sense.

- The fact that she traipsed around the globe and studied with willing teachers at the Black Citadel is equally preposterous. The Charr are just as wary of outsiders as the Asura are. Studying at Hoelbrak is a bit more feasible, but really… What are the chances of anybody studying at Rata Sum, The Black Citadel, Hoelbrak and with the Inquest all within a short time? She’s not a firstborn, so she’s in her early twenties. The Wiki says she stayed in the grove for eight years, so that only gives her about twelve years to earn these degrees, which seems implausible on its own. Then she ends up passing Statics and Dynamics within a single year. Really? If that’s the case, she’d be a freaking celebrity; the Einstein of Tyria, if you will. But we didn’t hear ANYTHING about her before she appeared suddenly at the Queen’s Jubilee. Why not?

- Logistics: Where did the Krait and Nightmare court acquire the lumber to build the Tower of Nightmares? If there’s a legitimate answer, why didn’t anybody notice the forests were disappearing en masse? Where did she get the raw materials for the marionette? Who mined them? Who assembled it? If she assembled it all on her own, that means she has godlike powers that no other character in the entire game has had aside from the Six Gods themselves, and is preposterous. If her allies assembled it, wouldn’t that take a long time? And after all that work, why would they test it in an unpopulated area instead of unleashing it on Scarlet’s true target (Lion’s Arch)?

- The Durmand Priory, who are specialists at acquiring knowledge, failed to notice that Scarlet had a secret lair right under their feet. Seriously?

It comes down to the fact that there are too many leaps of faith required to take the character seriously.

I find this very amusing since I (sadly) think that the lore of gw2 is very childish in part for is content and in part bacause of how the plot itself is implemented (as you pointed out).
My only hope is that some really good writing in the near future will alleviate this situation.

SirBigmark.7981

I like the mistery around the sylvari, is the only thing that seems interesting in all the gw 2 lore, the other events since the release seem pretty straightforward and shallow to me (expecially compared to the lore of gw 1).
So, just to throw here my opinion: the pale is born from a seed planted from a soldier. this soldier found that seed in a cavern protected by other deadly plants.
Its possible that the pale tree was created as a weapon BUT since the guy who planted it sweared to leave the war and live a peaceful life, this somewhat changed the tree alignement, expecially considered that during his life and after his death the tree was raised by a centaur that also refused violence (as you can also see from the tablet he left under the tree and that Sylvari refer to in every aspect of their life as a sacred guide).
So long story short: pale tree evil origin, ronan (the soldier) and ventari (the centaur) influenced him raising him with their strong idealistic and peaceful alignement.
The pale tree is fighting since then to overcome the evil power he was created with.
The fact that his stated that “Ceara encountered something that literally broke her mind, but the only things in there were things she brought” support the idea that the pale tree itself is in one way or another a source of evil.

Guesting / Overflows & Desolation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SirBigmark.7981

SirBigmark.7981

so I started playin gw2 again since one week now and I’ve tried a lot of the new world events.
I moved my account to Underworld like one years ago because my previous server was empty and I don’t want to bother with guesting every time. So i paid like 20e.
Now Underworld is empty in any world event. I searched, and seems that since Desolation performs well in WvW may people moved there. Then many other started to guest there.
So now Desolation is always full and an undefined numer of overflow spams in every event zone (since even one hour prior) while many other Server with high pop are empty.
have devs realized that this is an issue? Or i should just accept the guesting->welcome to overflow pattern as a good gaming experience?
