So… I’ve been PvPing for more than a few years, different games, MOBA’s, FPS, MMORPG.
I heard a lot of good about GW2 pvp and days before I bought it, I played WoW and was not really satisfied with PvP system there. It was 2-3 months before HoT if I recall correctly. I bought the game and went with warrior, as soon as I got to 80 and knew this and that, read about rotations and stuff, I got into PvP. It was a pleasant experience, but later on I changed to guardian, medibuild to be exact and I fell in love with it. Back then it was a ball. But then HoT came and stuff went… well as they went. I did this and that and it was okay, I know how to fight, however it is hard to play on a laptop, yet still I could handle this and that, overall as a pvp’er for a bunch of years I know the common tactics and rotations on both movement and dealing damage.

However recently I feel like trash, I can’t tell if I suddenly got worse, or is the match making system trying to tell me that I am garbage. From what I saw last time I was somewhere on the 60% win rate and now it fell down drastically no matter of my personal effort put in every single match.
I had a closer look at my team, they were doing their best and that’s always good, however there were any mistakes, and let me say MANY, while the enemy team exploited them which is normal to do. I found myself in many 2v1 scenarios, or getting focused into oblivion while I dropped target focus and nobody bothered to even touch the target or even if they did… ehhh… they were trying to hunt down a thief, 3 of them to be exact. And so as the team consists of the strength of each member, if there are like 2 or 3 people incapable of combat or rotation, the team is destined to lose most of the time and not even Helseth can carry situations when: people go 1v2/3 suicide on enemy capped point, or 2 players die to one opponent and keep on doing so. In the end my own performance was bad beacause there was nobody to back me up, couldn’t do any good dps to give any support back for my team as well. Even though on pic attached I was playing a fair ammount on guard, I also play warrior from time to time when I feel like it’s time to take a rest from using active skills and go with some passive play.

Now the question is, am I a scrub and should I git gud? (I think that by this point my “gitting gud” would consist of buying a better rig for smoother fps and trying to set up a better internet connection, as well as an even deeper understanding of other classes perhaps.)

Please, honest thoughts about this. Have you experienced something like that as well?

I recommend you to wait for ranked season, climb up to platinum, play meta/optimal build, improve your kiting (rather implement it to your gameplay cuz theres 0 kiting atm) and then make such videos.

I’m proposing the LFG system from the start, from the first vote for team or solo queue.
No one want to spend 5 minutes to make a good team with chosen classes and a strategy, everyone want to go fast and play totally casual matches with casual players, with casual classes, with no strategy and win anyway, crying if they lose because “the match making is broken”.

Force players to make a Team (a premade, if you want) to join a ranking on a team based game is the only way to make a little of balance in this game. Also will make queue shorter. instead of find 10 players at the same level the game need to find only 2 team of the same level (the higher player make the level of the team), making the game reduce the time he need start the match by 5 times.

I would rather get rid of soloq and do teamq. We have a LFG system that no one seems to use. If the community utilized that to make teams they could filter out who can join by their rank.

You don’t want full team to join ranked into a team based game, crying a lot because you don’t want to join a pvp guild or make friends to play with but still don’t want to lose against a premade team that only play as this game is designed for, don’t do anything wrong but everyone cry anyway because they’re too lazy to make a team by they’re own.
Then ANet added the chance to ask to other players at the end of a match to join you and make a team. Great Idea, grant to make a team by your own with skilled players you find playing as a soloQ.
But there was still people unhappy because they’re too lazy also to make an improvized team, they want to force everyone to play lazy as they do.
Then ANet answered making your ranked for 1-2 players only, making impossible make a real premade, granting even better random fight between random players that play everyone as they want without any real coordinated strategy.
BUT now no one want it!!!
Now you want to force everyone to play as a SoloQ as you play, just because you don’t want to spend five minutes asking to your friends to join you or join a sPvP guild to play with. There’s a LOT of sPvP Guild in this game, just ask in map and you’ll find a lot of them ready to make you join and play with you.
Oh, wait, now is impossible to play with more than a friend, then make a pvp guild is totally useless, join one of them is pointless and every match is so casual that you have only to pray to find good players and not noobs, with the perfect class combination and against a noob team.

Time ago ANet gave us a SoloQ ranked area, where you was able to join only in solo.
there was so much crying players that Anet immediatly canceled everything.

If you play in soloQ with other 9 players that play in solo you will win only if you’re in the better casual team, without any chance to change it or chose to play with your friends, hoping to find good players and not noobs all the time.
Then, if you don’t play a class able to carry your team you will be unable to make your team win, still if your class is good in premade team (necro, for example).

Actually everything in ranked is a chaos, do you really want to increase the chaos?

If I’m in PvP, then my only goal is to earn rewards that they’ve chosen to lock behind PvP, so that I can get back to PvE. I don’t care about competition, I don’t care about self-improvement or challenge, I don’t particularly want any of those things, I just want to clear whatever hurdles are between me and the PvP-specific loot. If you don’t want to play with me, that’s fine, I don’t want to be there, but the simple solution is to work with ANet to remove all PvP-specific rewards from the game, so that people who don’t love PvP don’t have to be there.

Good job. Between getting people like you in my matches, match after match. And the self proclaimed pros who used to farm me when I had such team mates. And the ANet moderators, that are more concerned with me voicing my opinions on these forums, more so then people like ruining most of my matches. To the point basically I pretty much all but stopped PvPing in GW2.

This PvE rewards system in PvP just needs to go. No ascended items, no dungeon reward tracks, or any amount of gold should be rewarded for losing your matches. If you lose you should get nothing. But ANet rather have players like yourself en-mass for their pros to look good on youtube and twitch while farming. Instead of keeping it’s PvP core players happy and, wanting more PvP in GW2, which better quality of matches instead of no point, non competitive quantity of matches.

At last it is what it is. I am now a firm believer of this is the reason PvP games exists. But then again I also have to thank players like yourself. If ANet was not focused on pushing yall to completely decrease match quality, in a bid to make PvP in GW2 look more populated on paper. I would have never stepped outside of GW2’s PvP to explore and play, actual PvP games. So I guess that’s the sliver lining there.

I apologize if it sounds like I’m blaming players like your self. I’m actually more wiser and passed the point of blaming players like your self, for intentional developer’s decisions. This is all on the devs. and not at all on players like your self.

I maybe a troll with class.

because of the style of MM anet implemented it started a witch hunt by other players whos the newbie or low MMR in the group. i had various matches with people accusing of others bad before the game even start. this made players QQ and rage during matches. also the reason Anet revert back to this MM is because of complain about blowout matches well guess what most of my games are like that still. so Anet if your reading these just wanna say how in the F did you ended with these decisions?

I mean why on earth would a competitive solo queuer or loner would want to play this game if he/she is just getting kittenters for team mates that he or she can not carry match after match with scores like 125 – 501 like 19 matches or so in row, when we can simply go play a actually competitive sPvP game competitively as solo queuer?

ANet’s PvP team has full responsibility in the down fall of GW2’s once great sPvP game mode. I will never ever play another game that this team is apart of, simple as that.

PvP is a team game and not a solo game. Stop blaming ANet for this!! Blame the soloQuers like yourself who actually ruin the very concept of PvP. It is a team game and ranked games should be played in premade teams rather soloQ where every person has no idea of others and want to just do what he/she wants with no communication etc.

Over a month of AB looting has proved in fact that AB multi map does not affect the economy nor does it break the game and neither is the ability to map hop a glitch. Seriously there is nothing negative about AB looting, IT IS LITERALLY THE SAME AS SILVERWASTE in terms of how it affects the economy. So all the people qq-ing about how AB is breaking the economy look again. Look at how the prices of items ingame has rised and dropped over the last month and you can see that AB is actually stabalizing the tp by generating needed mats such as ectos, the jeweled needed for HoT legendary AND it is providing tons of mithril, elder, and mats in general thus keeping the price nearly the same as it used to be a year ago. Look back on 4 months ago before AB was buffed, EVERYTHING was 2x more expensive than they are now. Legendary was at 4-5k average, and mithril/elder, t3 mat price was popping through the roof. You people might want to observe the economy before throwing random statements around like AB is breaking the economy.

The classes are still imbalanced for conquest and for 1 vs 1. And what’s worse, unlike in league of legends where champions get balanced every patch. The balance team in Guildwars 2 hasn’t balanced their classes for a long while. I’m just wondering if they have given up.

After hearing about this for months from tons of guildies farming it I have been doing this between pvp matches for the last 2 days. Some thoughts:

The metas are not needed. You can show up late, cycle all vines, hit 200% for 7 free keys easily. The remainder buy from the vendor. Sure this costs aurilium and a couple of silver. Who cares? The aurilium in my coin wallet slowly increased even while buying keys.

People claiming upwards of 50+ ecto per run are overestimating. At best you can join a group with 8 instances and complete all 40 grands barely before time expires. 40e (avg 1 per rare) per run in a best case with 30e per run on avg, and sometimes less if instances fail or you’re not built for speed.

Still ~35ish ecto + scraps every half hour is an effective farm! Thankfully this event is restricted to only happen once per 2 hours.

So the design is that you do a 15-30 mins meta and get 5 guaranteed rares + scraps. You can get 25-35 more by map hopping. That is 6x to 8x as many as intended. If you did the regular meta 8x as fast as possible, 15 mins per run; it would take exactly 2 hours. This method produces the same wealth using 25% of the time, allowing you an advantage in time (90 mins between runs) to do other farms.

I think it actually qualifies as exploitative, so I’ll be stopping. But I do think until you lay it out in these terms it doesn’t really look on the surface like an exploit. Anet really needs to fix it asap though.

EDIT: what they need to do is increase the meta event rewards with 5 rare guaranteed bags and turn all the chests into the middle-quality chest. It works in each of the other HoT maps (and in VB where there are large chests at least they are randomly placed) having 1 key and one rarity of chest type. You know that if there were enormous crystallized caches in TD that appear after gerent in a straight line people would do this exact same thing.

We have been asking for very long time why customer support never does anything about afkers, trolls, griefers and people who verbally harass other players in matches. The only kind of response you may get is a ban because claiming that players harass other players in matches is against forum rules apparently.

You people are ridiculous. The reason i never bought the expansion is because it was obvious that it would be against how i think the game should develop. The net effect of the devs efforts over the last 2 years has been extremely negative.

They have removed the ability to queue outside the mists
They removed mmr leaderboards
They removed solo queue
They removed the ability to see player ranks
They removed amulet jewels
They removed any rank progression when someone at anet (WHO must have no design experience) decided to just make everyone rank 80
They removed in game tournaments

And balance got worse and worse. And it will continue to get worse. Because they design things which are cool, not which are balanced and fun for the long term.

Your best hope should be anet never balance again. Because any maj8r changes they make will make things worse.

Gw2 is an interesting case study. Such a brilliantly designed game by the original devs. But butchered by the live team

No, MMR + leagues is a gift to pro-teams. It’s designed specifically so that they can farm other players. Esports!
