What many people don’t know:
Bunnyhopping in Quake was actually a bug (source1, source2, source3, and many more), but the developers decided to keep it, because it was a really fun playstyle. Now think of Quake and the competitive scene without bunnyhopping?!

In Street Fighter 2 a game tester was fooling around and noticed that he could connect 2 hits because the hitstun of the first hit was long enough that the next hit can land and thought nothing of it. Then people started creating the first links to combos and combos have been a staple of fighting games and many other genres to this day. Just adding to the extensive list of emergent gameplay mechanics that have been found.

Patch tomorrow?

People who use RTL will have autotargeting off because you can then point in the direction you want to escape once you untarget. Which is definitely useful even in pve for traveling purposes and escape purpose in pvp.

Toughness: useless for dungeons?

It’s not you or toughness thats the problem, it’s that alpha hits so kitten hard and spams all that annoying aoe On path 3 a lot of times if you just dodge all the circles, he can still hit you with his followup spikes if he wants to focus you). I’ve seen other classes drop as fast and Ele actually has it good on that part if they know what they are doing because Eles have a lot of ways to avoid damage and the fact that we can get vigor easily if we want.

In a “normal” situation with mobs in dungeons I like to take the trait that gets me protection when I cast auras and I sometimes like to run a focus. That really helps and you can have protection up a lot if you swap aura usage, go into earth attunement, and/or do stuff like do combo fields that yield auras.

To a lot of people feeling that they die too fast try a focus in your offhand. Even if you get jumped on you should react fast enough to use an active defense. Focuses have a lot of active defenses and it also pretty much stops any ranged user from putting pressure on your for quite a while. If you die to 100b or HS, try to take a defensive utility like mist form or arcane shield. Once you get hit once (or see it coming, which is usually the case honestly), you can react fast enough so your skills eat up the rest of their hits then you can followup.

Impressive, I think it’s hard for any class to really get that high unless you face a team you really outclass or if you switch ownership of points a lot. I’ve noticed too that if your team hold on to all the points throughout the game, it usually ends up as a low scoring game for both sides, because a lot of points are gained for the player for neutralizing and capturing.

I have gotten more than 17 kills though. Though that’s also not an accurate measure of balance. I’ve been trying to run focus, if I meet a ranger or any other range class I usually win rather easily and that can just be inflating my kills in a good matchup.

I’ve been doing decent enough in pvp with double daggers. When I 1v1 I never felt that I was outmatched, if I died I felt I was out of position or made a dumb mistake (I hate that treb in spvp). I think staff feels too slow for my taste to use in pvp and since you have to target the aoes on the ground, the opponent can easily escape since movement in this game is pretty fast with rolls and skills. Try to take arcane shield. It really works wonders and you don’t need to stop to do a casting animation so you can keep on right attacking without stopping for it and if you see someone charge up for an attack, just use it and have them waste a shot. For traits I put 20 points in earth for the toughness and took the earth armor below 50%, because getting a free one seems to do well, even just for the protection (33% damage reduction is huge). Fire attunement is really great damage and I do feel like I outdamage other people when I see how much I take out of their life bar.

I would say switching mostly between fire and lightning attunement is the way to go (I’m trying to throw in water skills every now, since the aura, frost blast come out relatively fast). The ele has a lot of cc they can throw out, so just get used to swapping attunements (and it helps to get that fury bonus on swap). I think earth armor is pretty good in pvp. I honestly don’t like the elite skills too much though.
