I think it does too. About 25-50% faster.
It shouldn’t be too hard to make all audio files customizable, right? I absolutely hate my warrior’s combat voice, and some audio effects like waterfalls, all hit sound effects, footsteps, etc. sound just horrible. Actually if I had to say, GW2 has the worst sound effects and propably the worst audio engine I’ve ever heard in any game. Not trying to offend sound designers, just being honest.
Customizability is also one of the things that make things popular nowadays. Whether it’s UI, sounds, textures, or something else, players like to edit it to match their liking. I’m sure GW2 would have significantly more players if you allowed us to edit these things. If you’re worried about some players having an advantage over others, then you should just disable customization in competitive game modes. You could do this by adding a separate folder for mods, no original files would need to be replaced so you could switch between them at any time.
Actually about 15% of the population finds making money very fun, irrelevant of the uses of that money. Ever gotten unnecessarily rich in a single player RPG like Skyrim?
I enjoy making money, but not without effort. Currently it is possible to make money just by buying event items and other items that cannot be obtained anymore. All I have to do it buy them and then wait… it’s not fun.
Personally I find dueling players annoying. Just imagine some players dueling in LA TP while you are trying to remember what to buy and sell.
But it might be cool if dueling players get teleported to some gladiator arena or there is some dueling ring where players can duel. When someone asks you to duel you should also be able to see his PvP rank, profession and duel win/loss ratio. Makes dueling 10 times more fun if you have something to show off with or you beat someone who has insane amount of kills.
This might actually work, but with some changes. All current dungeons have been designed with rare/exotic gear in mind so ascended might make them a bit too easy.
So my suggestion is that stats from ascended gear would work only in lvl80 dungeons.
I were just about to suggest this myself.
When I heard about ascended gear you can’t believe how mad I got. I have spent around 100-150g and a huge amount of transmutation stones on exotic gear. I want to be able to have multiple different armor sets to fit different purposes, like WvW, dungeons and farming. If ArenaNet starts to add more and more different gear levels to the game it will be impossible to keep them up to date and I will propably never be able to get any legendaries either. Ascended gear was already like a kick in the balls(actually worse, I’d rather take that kick).
This also makes me think have they changed the direction they are developing this game to. I mean, what if we get a new expansion and it has more levels… all current gear would become useless. Before this update was announced I didn’t even think it about it, I trusted them completely, and although some people may have been against it, I also liked the way they tried to prevent dungeon farming(=grind).
I’m just wondering do you guys at ArenaNet even understand that by adding more and more grind to the game you are destroying one of your selling points? Legendary weapons are still fine because they do not have any higher stats than exotic gear. In other words getting them is not mandatory, unlike ascended gear. I know there are many casual players who do not have even a full set of exotics yet, imagine how they must feel.
Ascended gear also makes all existing dungeons easier, so even if you are trying to please hardcore players by giving them new goals you are still pissing them off by making the game easier. I’m not sure will everyone realise this though, but at least it’s the way I see it.
