That’s fair, I can respect them wanting to have us make a choice, but as is, from what I could tell, with a hybrid or condi build, incendiary powder is worth taking every single time over juggernaut in terms of numbers.
My testing is by no means perfect however, and I could be wrong about this. If they are actually competitive in terms of use usefulness, I could live with that.
Hello,
Admittedly I’m not an expert in any particular topic of this game, but I’ve been playing for a while and always had a blast with engineer.
Recently with the changes to flamethrower, it seems Anet want the kit to be more of a hybrid damage source. Personally I haven’t had enough time to experiment with it to fully determine whether I like the changes overall or not, but I would like to make a suggestion, either for the next balance patch, or if possible something to add sooner than that.
I think juggernaut, potentially, could be great for this new hybrid role, as might adds both condi and power. Also, personally, I love the flavor of the stability, and how it makes your feel like an unmovable object. What I don’t like about this trait is how it has to compete with Incendiary Powder. Before it wasn’t too much of an issue, with flamethrower being primarily a power based build, but now it seems silly that the two have to compete.
One of the purposes of this patch, was to “improve trait synergy, weapon usefulness, and kit purity of purpose”. And, while I do like the changes that were made, I also don’t think they were enough, particularly in the trait synergy department.
As for my personal suggestion, I’m by no means saying these are the best options, merely the two I think would make the most sense. To either:
1) Move juggernaut to a different trait tree, so that both could be picked.
2) Make one of the two traits Master as opposed to Grandmaster, and probably nerf one of the two.
These are merely my opinions, I’m aware Juggernaut isn’t optimal for raids or organized fractals since might stacking is already a thing, but as stated I think the trait is really cool thematically, and it’s phenomenally useful in open world.
Thank you for your time.
Mjasa, I think the OP was clarifying that the item is indeed in Southsun cove, as the collection states, not that they found it. The jormag link was unnecessary and unhelpful as it’s unrelated to the question.
Also sorry OP I have no idea where that is, hopefully someone here also working on that collection can help you.
Regarding the legends: As people have said before, the legends don’t actually contain the spirits or personalities of the individual being invoked. They’re more like echoes or recordings in the Mists, that contain a fractal of their power, but are not the original entity. They’re like the echo of Turai Ossa during the Tests of Fake Ascension – they repeat things that the original said, they may even do so at appropriate times, but they are not the spirit of the original.
(Which is why it’s perfectly possible to have an army of revenants channeling the same legend at once…)
Actually this is incorrect. In a hidden arcana article about revenant ( https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hidden-arcana-role-playing-the-revenant/ ) they say the exact opposite of this.
“A revenant’s legends are not merely echoes of the past but are fully sentient, with opinions and personalities of their own”
Thank you for all of this great information!
I guess I just thought of the mists as being as easily accessible as it is in game, but that thinking was not correct. Thanks for clearing that up!
I had a realization today, do Tyrians have a different view on death from us in real life?
The reason I ask this, is there are many concepts of the afterlife in religions, philosophies, etc, but none are definitive. You can’t physically fly to heaven in a plane, or walk through some door and magically be in hell.
But the mists are unique to Tyria, in that you can actually physically go there, interact with it, even conduct scientific experiments on it (Fractals). So I was wondering if there’s a different mindset in Tyria about death, whether it’s viewed as the same, or more like it’s just another phase in life, etc. Does it vary from race to race, or is there one general belief across all the races?
Any specific examples/references would be great. Thank you.
