lol, I have like 100 bl chests, so I looked up key farm and did it once, first time ever, last week, just to say, “hey, wonder how long this takes?” I didn’t use any tomes, started at legit lvl 1, sylvari ranger with GS. It wasn’t really worth the 2 hours it took imho (assuming you don’t use any tomes or anything)… I got pretty lucky and got a Caithe mini, other than that, not much. Kept the mini. Seriously, in the time it took to farm a key, I could have run Silverwastes or dungeons and made 5 or 6x that much gold. Are there people who are seriously farming bl keys on a regular basis? I don’t understand the benefit. That’d be like 2000 hours of farming just to gamble on chest rng.

regarding exp for crafting, why the heck not? the sheer gold cost involved to craft a toon from 1 – 80 would be ridiculous, most people are going to just salvage back most of what they crafted anyway. I don’t really understand the complaint when you actually think about it.

Staff might stacking = Earth2, Fire2, Arcane Wave, Arcane Brilliance. Feel free to stack it at the beginning of the fight.

Otherwise, this sounds like a level of WTF? on par with me joining an (AC none-the-less) “all path, exp, zerk only, ping gear” and getting kicked for having ascended instead of exotic. >_>

Personally my favorite part of dungeon runs is stacking might, I just really enjoy the rotation, so I always enter every dungeon with s/f or s/d +LH in hand. It’s my preferred playstyle, so that works for me. However, If I’ve got 2 warriors, I swap to staff, cuz you know they’re both running the same phalanx build, and they don’t need your might.

That’s the other thing, warriors aren’t ever yelled at for running identical builds, but any time I’m in a pug dungeon group with another ele, someone has to say something.

Anyway, you should have been stacking at least some might since staff just naturally does through the rotation, and it’s a pug dungeon group… they can shut their mouths. I bet you anything your staff build was out dps’ing them anyway.

a lot of good info here. I built my own PC for the first time without much knowledge of how to do so. I would say if you have the time then DEFINITELY build one. It is super easy if you have time and want to learn. there’s nothing wrong with a pre-made but you can do a whole lot better building on your own.

Resources I used were already listed:
- TomsHardware – do SOME research first. then start a thread
- pcpartpicker (once you have idea of CPU/GPU you want you can view other people’s builds that include them too)
- Youtube – I basically had this video open while i was actually building and followed step by step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zOYdNEHDQo&list=FLesXde5bXxeIw06B87wXbcw

Online stores in US (as already mentioned): newegg/tigerdirect (especially if no tax for you), ncix, amazon.
Brick and mortar stores you may have near you: Microcenter, Fry’s

I can’t upvote this post enough OH, and btw, my first build, I watched the exact same vid, along with one that a tech at newegg put together.

I still use Tom’s Hardware all the time, even just to keep up on hardware news. Amazing forum community.

as someone who does choose to believe there may be something bigger than us out there, I am also actually offended by most of the “God talk” in chat, simply because it does not come across as someone who is truly expressing something they believe, but instead is mocking something they don’t.

As far as “should Anet do anything about it?” Of course not. They gave us all the tools necessary to not have to deal with it, it’s easy enough to not look at your chat box, and if you can’t, you can always just block the person. I usually do.

I know, screw guardians who use correct dps rotations and Wall of Reflection, or mesmers who use feedback, and healing turret? screw you engi and your healing, I don’t need it! get off my might!

exactly :p – seriously though, if feedback or water fields are used correctly, in most cases and most boss fights, they never need to be used at all, OR (like feedback) used at specific times. As far as “meta dps rotation” for guardian, I know the off-hand wep swap focus to torch rotation, and the retaliation field can easily be skipped on GS.

Are you really new to the game, like this is your first toon? If so, you may not know what the Black Lion Trading Company is. It’s the online market between players, and there’s a guy in every town that you can go talk to to buy/sell/pick up your stuff. You can also open the BLTC trade window by pushing ‘Y’, and buy and sell stuff, but you have to actually go to a town to pick it up.

Regarding your leveling question, yes there are other options, to some extent. If this is your first toon and you’re bored with the missions and clearing out maps already, this may not be the game for you, it’s a big part of the game, especially while leveling Edge of the Mists is great experience and can be done starting at lvl 20 I believe (if you’ve beaten the game on another toon, I believe you can enter at any level). It’s usually massive zerg’s of people running around capping points on a PvP map. You access it by pushing ‘B’. Once you hit level 30 you can start doing dungeons, you’ll get about 80% of the way towards the next level on each dungeon run. New storyline missions appear about every 10 levels.

As far as weapons go, I’d mess around with all of them and find which set up you like best. For elementalist, most people start out staff for leveling, although I prefered dagger/dagger when I was leveling and play a lot of scepter/focus now. As far as gear, here’s my tip. Basically, every 10 levels you’ll get a new set of story missions… so what I do is this…

Let’s say you’re about to hit 20, which you are. Go do your couple of story missions you get. That should level you up to 22 or 23 AND you’ll get a couple pieces of gear. From that, go onto the trading post and buy the rest of the gear that matches your level, since you’re now level 22 or 23, you want to buy gear that’s no lower than 20.

I do that every 10 levels. Just buy fairly cheap green colored gear, usually 2 or 3 silver per piece, so every 10 levels I get 3 or 4 gear pieces or weapons, plus the ones you get as level rewards, so you’re buying the last 4 or 5 pieces, so about 20 silver cost every 10 levels, not too bad.

I’d also recommend focusing on power as the primary stat (2nd/3rd stats depend on your skill in the game, but while levelling it doesn’t really matter much until later)

Arc Lightning

in Elementalist

Posted by: SlimGenre.6417

SlimGenre.6417

scepter ele all the way and I just finished my meteorlogicus 2 days ago. I enjoy the playstyle, pump out much more dmg than i do with mainhand dagger, and it’s meta for most pug dungeon groups (unless you have warriors that know what they’re doing). I always enter a dungeon in s/f and then swap to staff depending on team makeup. Scepter is the most complicated weapon to play for ele if played right, and no, I can’t remember the last time I ever touched arc lightning on purpose, there shouldn’t be any reason to use it, too many other options. If you want to just spam 1, then swap to mainhand dagger, or pull out a conjured wep, hammer or greatsword.

the beautiful thing about this game, is we’re over 2 years in, and people are still arguing, “what’s best.” Whatever you do the best with, is best. Watch youtube, there are plenty of people out there ruining other people with every combination of weapon possible in the game. WvW roaming with s/d is a blast with insane spike dmg, d/f is surprisingly tanky for longer fights, and I don’t think there’s a wep in the game with more utility for Zerg’s than ele staff. In pve, who cares, it’s your kitten game, do what you want. In dungeons, yeah, you gotta be a little more conscious of what ele brings to the table, might, fury and aura’s (but no one worries about those anymore, RIP auramancer).

So I guess what I’m saying is, yes, arc lightning is a pretty terrible “filler” skill, but the the wep has 12 different skills to use, don’t let people tell you to throw it away b/c of 1 skill, learn to wield the weapon correctly…

This isn’t a rotation game like, say SWTOR, which has an unquestioned highest parsing rotation for every class. Staff and s/f are meta dungeon sets, depending on the rest of your team. Other than that, when it comes to PvE (and most dungeon runs), do whatever you kitten-well please. I think it’s important to know how to play the meta dps builds, so you can join those kitten meta zerker pug groups when you want to, but other than that, who cares.

Help me with my Ele

SlimGenre.6417

Fade gets a +1.

2 IMO’s to start… first, the fun part of this game is you can play whatever weapon set you like, and second, play whatever trait distribution you like, especially when roaming. With that said, yes it is true that some weapon sets have parsed higher than others, and s/f with lightning hammer or staff are the highest potential dps output available to our class. You should know how to play those specs correctly “IF” you want to be the most useful you can be in semi-organized or better dungeon groups. I choose to assume that even with pug groups, everyone knows what they’re doing in the dungeons I run most (CoF, CoE), so I generally enter with my s/f might stacking/perma fury lightning hammer build. If there are multiple warriors in my group, then I assume they know what they’re doing and I swap to staff (b/c they can maintain 25 might easier than I can, and a conjurer staff build provides better dps). If there is no one else maintaining might, then I’ll stay s/f. Those builds can be found on meta battle website…

OK, with the mandatory “BEST DPS EVAAAA” disclaimer out of the way… I would recommend start moving towards either berzerker or assassin gear. The biggest hurdle in this game is learning that healing is secondary for damage mitigation. This is different from every other mmo I’ve played, including the original Guild Wars. It’s hard to retrain your thinking. The most important dmg mitigation tool you have is dodging. As you play this game, you’ll start to learn which are the “big hits” that different enemies deliver, learn to save your dodges, don’t ever waste them… we all still do, and then you’re party is having to get you back up, it’s embarrassing and we’ve all been there.

So I would say transition from high survivability to high dps in a few steps, don’t do it all at once. I’m also going to make two assumptions, first, that you enjoy playing s/d and I’m not going to tell you to change, you don’t have to. Second, I’m going to assume you know the might stacking rotations for ele.

OK, first things first, dump the healthy gear and change to either berzerkers or assassins. It’s the most expensive on the TP for a reason, it’s the best gear for every class, and everyone wants it. That alone will increase your dmg output substantially. And second, I would transition to a Fresh Air build, sacrificing “SOME” of your survivability traits in exchange for more dps. Just this first step alone, you will see your numbers jump a lot. Try this first, and remember that with Fresh Air, your CD on air attunement will come off whenever you crit (5 sec CD, but good enough), so every change you get, swap to air, air 2/3 for a big hit and a blind, then go about your business.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQJArYnMISLDWyAGQAfEIwBwIWDiBj+AijABgOYpsAA-TRRBABXt/o8DPdAA8AAoU9HzUCCA-e

Once you are comfortable with a pretty straight forward Fresh Air build, you can start backing off of the vitality and arcane traits, and start putting them in power. More like this.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQJArYnMISLDWyAGQAfEIgAwIlECGAOAjmBiLBVgYIA-TRRBABXt/o8DPdAA8AAoU9HzUCCA-e

Finally, if you want to be the most useful in dungeons, you have to add the fury upkeep, so you’re transitioning to something like this.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQJArYnMISLDWyAGQAfEGgAwCHAOADgRzAxlgKQME-TRRBABXt/o8DPdAA8AAoU9HzUCCA-e

This gives you almost no survivability, but it’s the warrior and guardians jobs in your group to help with that. Also, getting rid of that off-hand dagger and learning how to use focus will help resolve any problems you have with dmg mitigation, thanks to swirling winds and obsidian flesh.

In this game, it’s important to know what you can bring to the table. Ele’s have 3 things they can do as well or better than anyone else, might stacking, perma fury and aurashare (which I didn’t go in to, b/c your question was about more dmg output). If your group needs might, then s/f or s/d is the way to go, if you have warriors providing it (if they know what they’re doing, it’s easier for 2 warriors to maintain 25 stacks than 1 ele) you swap to staff to maintain fury upkeep, a little bit of might stacking to top off the stacks, and extra dps. All in all, as long as you’re bringing something to the table, you don’t “have” to play meta, but it’s good to know how to do it, and then tweak it in a way that makes you happy.

Questions for a starting Elementalist

in Elementalist

Posted by: SlimGenre.6417

SlimGenre.6417

all of this is great info. Ele since beta, and have spent probably 80% of my time with it, except I run mesmer a lot in pvp, for some reason?!

The Good: Every class has a viable “best meta dps output” build AND every class has a “most tanky/healing build” (I think we all played the “holy trinity” for so long in other mmo’s, it’s hard to get out of that mindset even in a game that goes out of its way to avoid the tank/healer/dps trinity). What I have found with ele that I haven’t found elsewhere is that you can build a very viable mixture of dps output and survivability as well as group utility with aura’s and might/fury stacking and sharing. Every class has something they do best it seems, and ele is best at buffing dps output of your team.

The Bad: hardest class to learn in the game. I considered myself very proficient with my ele long before I ever rolled a warrior… which I just can’t bring myself to level. I feel like I could bang my head on the keyboard with a warrior and be only slightly less successful than I am if I actually pay attention to what I’m doing (ok, exaggeration, I know, but still, sooooooo boring).
Another “bad” with ele, imho is that once you become proficient, you will find yourself waiting for things to come off cooldown. We may have 20 skills at our disposal, so you may think, “how can this be?” But you will occasionally find yourself autoattacking because that’s all you’ve got left for a few seconds, especially in s/d or d/d builds. In pve, especially meta dps dungeon builds, you’re autoattacking with your hammer at 6k per hit, so that’s fine, but just regular pve stuff like silverwastes, that’s not really a viable play style). Although with the addition of grandmaster trait Fresh Air, for my basic pve stuff, it’s really taken that problem out of the equation (but obviously only if you trait that way). Staff is a little different since meteor shower is such a key part of dps output and it has a long cast time that eats up cooldown time.

I will also 2nd/3rd/4th what has been said before, while it’s my second favorite weapon to play with, staff is probably the most versatile weapon in the game for a lot of reasons. Mapping? Perma swift easy. Zerg rush? duh, staff. Learning how the class works? … umm, staff. It’s just the most useful for almost every occasion… it’s downside (and this is purely an imho statement here), it’s incredibly boring once you have it figured out.

The Build: Ele was a vastly misunderstood class for the first 3 or 4 months of the game, and then daPhoenix came along with his auramancer build and it all started clicking for everyone. I’d recommend looking up his stuff for any new ele, while a lot of the game has progressed beyond the tanky d/d auramancer, it’s still probably the best way to really learn the mechanics of the class and the reason you want to (as mentioned above this is right on) dance attunements for purpose, not just to dance. Plus aura’s and aura share as well as might stacking, as mentioned above, are the two things we can bring to the table that no one else can.

Ele plays very different from any other class, especially with scepter or dagger. Staff is a more traditional caster feel, but dagger feels more like you’d expect a thief/assassin type class to play. One thing I’d add to this, when learning the mechanics of the class, split your time running dagger mainhand and staff. Once you are proficient with dagger mainhand, swap to scepter.

As far as my build go, I’m a s/d ele 90% of the time. The only time I change that up primarily is zerg rush in wvw. Scepter doesn’t get discussed much in the forums, and I believe it is still a misunderstood weapon. It remains what I feel to be the most bursty weapon if played correctly, especially in basic pve and dungeons and with the change over to a fresh air build whenever that patch occured way back, it’s outstanding. For dungeons that want meta dps output, a s/d lightning hammer build is fantastic, with exceptional might stacking (25 perma easy on your whole party as well as perma fury). The max dps build I’ve found thus far for s/d looks like this (dungeon build)

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJArYnMISLD2zAGQAdEIYAQCHYQhR1EeaTp3A

My build for basic pve stuff, like silverwastes

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJArYnMISnDWyA+MAdEIgAwCFAGNDEXCyAxwithvAA

Scepter is also my first choice for wvw roaming, although it has less survivability than d/d, it’s burst dps output makes up for it. The first complaint about the weapon is that dragon’s tooth doesn’t really work against other players, to which I say, you’re using it at the wrong time.

I’m with OP on this one. It’s a casual game for the most part, the “hardcore” community is minimal in GW2. If you want a party to look a certain way, then advertise the party yourself. Otherwise bring whatever you want into a dungeon/fractal, just make sure to know what your class does best to support your team. Melee dps builds (war/thief/etc), remember your banners and do a kittenload of dmg. Guardians do your guardian thing, keep us all alive. I play mesmer mostly, and as long as I know my supports and utilities (which is the main purpose of a mesmer in dungeon runs) my team has never cared if I came in with my zerker gear or my condition gear.

Other than that, I did have some stuff I could do in my quest log, and there’s dailies and wvwvw, dungeons, etc. I’m kind of remembering why I left in the first place, I had done everything you could in pve, and was playing nothing but wvw and pvp, which is fine, just wasn’t enough to keep me involved. So after a year or so checking out some other games, I think I’m coming back to GW2 for a bit. Of course on Log In I realize Lion’s Arch is a much different place. I figured there’s some story arc somewhere that will explain.

PvE wise, what is out there for some old lvl 80’s to do? I deleted a toon just to start over from scratch to remind myself how to play, but I’d also like to pick up whatever story pieces are out there for my leveled toons. Where can I find some story arc stuff? Is Lion’s Arch just decimated, or is that part of the story arc like in other mmo’s where once I finish it it goes back to normal? If there’s no Lion’s Arch, what is the main city every hangs out in these days?

Love a little guidance for getting back into the game. Thanks all.

hey forsving… I was an ele since beta, but took about a year away from the game to play others. Have started dipping my toe back in Tyria the last few days. Actually sat in the PvP grounds on a dummy last night just trying to remember my rotations. Anyway, I was part of a group that used to train other Ele’s on our server, and I put together a video showing how to do a couple things, including maintaining might stack rotations, etc. This might help. When I played all the time, I generally ran scepter/dagger, but just personal choice, d/d was certainly the more preferred wvwvw setup. Here’s the video I did a while ago that might teach you some of the things oRx was talking about. I’m assuming this is all still viable and they haven’t changed the class too much since I made it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CO9Ynn_lAk

this is off topic, but how are you getting 4-6g per hour? i would love to know i’m so stuck with making gold its making me sad lol

the two best gold farming methods I’ve found are T6 material farming in Orr (see orrmaps.com) which can be done on 2 characters in about an hour and net a little under 5g (but VERY boring to do IMO) or CoF farming with a zerker group. I prefer CoF farming, and don’t forget to buy cheap armor with your dungeon tokens (30 tokens per piece) and salvage for ecto’s…

although I’ve heard they’re going to buff CoF to make the 6-7min p1 farm more difficult, so that option may disappear (or at least radically change) in the future.

I have a few ways to consistently get 4-6g per hour, often more. That’s about 2 charged stones per hour. Is there any reason to go after CoE for drops or sparks in Orr? I guess I’m asking how often people see drops in CoE.

I ran my first CoE today, netted about 2.5g in 2 hours (granted I am a CoE noob) and no drops. In that amount of time doing other things I could have purchased 3-4 stones.

Thanks in advance to those who’ve already spent hours figuring out the best way to go about this

Staff Ele question (WvW)

If you’re in a good guild that works as a team, or if you’re always looking for a commander to follow, then a staff zerker build is great… or even a staff support build gives great heals, condition removal aoe blind with glyph of storms etc. If you prefer the smaller battles and ganking parties, then consider d/d or s/d as well. I mix it up a lot, but I play in an organized guild that works as a unit and our ele’s run builds that compliment each other.

you can play this game your way, whichever way you choose. There are ways to maximize benefit and while there are “some” specialization in roles/traits/wep sets, a support person still does some damage and a zerker still offers some support (except for Rangers of course, but rumor is they’re working on it). Anet built it that way on purpose

Let's talk: Confusion

An idea I threw around a while ago was to give Confusion two end conditions: when its duration ends, or when it has triggered X number of times. Extend the duration so mobs can reliably trigger it around X number of times. Then it can be balanced for both PvP and PvE.

^^ this is a really good idea imo. The most stacks I’ve ever gotten on anyone was 15 on a single person in wvw, running a scepter, confusion on shatters and then the whole blind/confuse thing in and out of our bubbles. That’s the highest number I was ever able to see, it did like 4k + damage per skill use, but seriously, that’s chump compared to a burst build and it only lasted a second at that level… and I was so stacked into confusion traits that I couldn’t really do anything else worthwhile.

I still use confusion as a strong second form of damage, an extra 1500 off per skill use maintaining 3-5 stacks is fun, especially with a sword in hand or GW dumping good crit burst dmg, but it’d be fun to get those stacks up to 25. Personally I think anet should nerf damage output some but make it possible to keep duration up substantially more. It’s easy to hit and even maintain 25 stacks of might, vulnerability, bleeding, etc in this game… confusion should get on that list as well.

You can still stomp eles with a blink. There is no reason they should be able to make it back to their zerg alive.

I don’t play a mesmer.

Other classes can do it too. I play a thief and I always use Shadowstep to stomp eles who Mist Form away. Makes for an easy escape from the enemy zerg as well.

I guess guardians, warriors, necros, rangers and engineers will just have to suck it then?

Just a silly thing to say. Would you prefer that everyone in GW2 has the exact same skill set?

By that same argument you could say it’s unfair that a Guardian, Necro, Warrior etc can interrupt your stomp and you have to spend all that extra time running back up to them to start your stomp over… OK, yes, an ele can Mist Form back to their lines if they go down, big deal.

I do however agree that being able to Mist Form back into a tower/keep etc seems somewhat unfair. I can jump down, drop all the aoe I can think of until I down and then gtfo. Often I won’t even worry about staying alive, just unload everything I have because I know I can still get to safety if I’m downed. So yes, that’s reasonable, but having to run after them to stomp them? That’s just a silly complaint.

Every class has something OP about them compared to another class. Also, just remember that for every opponent in WvW that is able to do something that you aren’t, then there is a teammate of yours doing the same thing to them. It works both ways, it may be imba between you and them, but it’s not imba if both teams are able to do it. That’s why I don’t understand posts that complain about what one class can do compared to the others, especially when it comes to WvW, because both teams are taking advantage of it.

Community Brainstorming Thread for WvW

I’m not trying to be negative, but…

Isn’t tier locking SUPPOSED to happen in WvWvW? I mean why else would they have tiers, rankings, and varying population servers if not to create a system of evenly matched games? I think most of the community would agree that blowouts are far worse than stagnation.

I would assume that more people would want close match ups and building rivalries than to have what tier 8 is complaining about atm where one server facerolls the other 2 and there isn’t a chance to do anything about it. I have been on the other side of Kaineg on their way up in tier 6, and it wasn’t fun at all.

I agree that servers getting locked into place is going to happen (to some extent) with the way things are now, but am I the only person who thinks it would be more fun if servers could somehow be somewhat evenly matched to where 5 or 6 servers are all good enough to be number one, and it can change on any given week? Perhaps I’m just dreaming, but again, I seem to have to keep pointing out that this thread is about brainstorming as a community, not complaining.

But there are no 2 servers now where the outcome could possibly be different, and that’s going to get old fast. In my tier (T3) there is no chance Dragonbrand could ever beat Fort Aspenwood and no chance Maguuma could ever beat Dragonbrand… There’s no T4 team that could ever beat us, and there’s no T2 team that could ever lose to Fort Aspenwood.

Emphasis on the word EVER. That’s what I’m getting at by starting this thread. What can we come up with that can help eliminate the word EVER.

Personally, I thought it was kind of fun when Kaening came out of no where and facerolled everyone for a while (and I was on the receiving end of that too). It’s new, it’s different…. The upper tiers got to see them coming, sweat a little, and eventually stops them dead in their tracks… that’s the type of thing people talk about still to this day and beyond. No one will ever sit around and say, “hey, remember that time we beat X server over and over by 30,000 pts 17 weeks in a row… wow, that was memorable.”

I really don’t understand these threads. Stagnation is virtually unavoidable unless you are willing to accept more blowouts. There is simply too much disparity in WvW populations (which don’t necessarily track server populations) between servers right now for it to be any other way. For almost any tier a winner-up/loser-down type shakeup will result in a blowout the following week … even more than we have now.

ANet is going to have to come up with a different way of setting up matches that isn’t simply server versus server versus server for this to change. Look at what the next two big MMOs have planned for their equivalent to WvW … the matches are faction based, not server based. That gives them WAY more flexibility in preventing match disparities.

For what it’s worth, I really felt like I went out of my way to point out in my original post that the point was to brainstorm, not complain, and I mentioned that we can’t do anything about server size and 24 hour server coverage, which will almost always be the deciding factor in this style of play.

My thought was maybe thousands of head are better than just a handful, so I started reading your response wondering what it takes on a forum to have a legitimate conversation without the usual “I really don’t understand why you bothered posting what you just posted” response…

… and then I kept reading… and you’re response is actually fantastic, so thank you for the constructive answer.

I suppose what they’ve done with PvP, making it more likely that evenly experienced players meet each other in the mists, it’d be fun to see that on a larger scale, focusing on player and guild experience instead of numbers. As much as I hate to say it, WvW is a numbers game.

There are a lot of calls for GvG to come back, but I’d hate to see Anet bring it back and have that kill WvW.

Again, I don’t know the answer, I’m not complaining, and I emphasize the word CONSTRUCTIVE.

What about a random factor to the matches? Your rating, for purposes of pitting you against another team for the next week, could be Rating +/- (Rating * 0.15)

So your real rating is 1000 but for purposes of matching it may randomly be 850 – 1150.

This would provide some swing in the matchups. Top ranked could find itself in the #3 position in T1 or even down a tier. It would shake things up a bit more without doing something completely out of whack (like throwing T3 down into T8 for a round).

My biggest concern is not so much where we end the week, but did we get to see some different guilds employing different strategies, especially in open fighting. Having been playing the same couple servers for the last month I pretty much know which guilds are organized and which arent, and what they’re going to do in certain situations… it’d be fun to see other stuff as well.

Is swapping tiers really going to make a difference. It’s the same map, with likely the same tactics being used despite what tier you’re in. It will likely end up in the same posts of “PvDoor” “coverage is an issue” and all the other topics we are already familiar with.

I tend to think the issue is deeper than just which servers we are fighting against.

For all the basic reasons I agree with you, it is the same map and “a lot” of the same tactics for securing points… but there’s a lot of stuff that isn’t the same, especially I’ve noticed in the higher tiers. Different guilds work together in different ways during fights, and it’s fun to come across guilds you haven’t seen yet using playstyles you hadn’t thought of, and vice versa.

For example… who knows, there may be a fantastic guild on Sorrows Furnace who could hold their own against any guild from any other server with similar numbers, but we’ll never get to see them.

Again, just putting something up there for us as a community to brainstorm about ways to make the best part of GW2 even better.

FA has never “smacked” TC around.

Top of T3 doesn’t mean squat in T2.

You could say the same about T3 and T4… This past week was boring, at least for me, I’d much rather lose in T3 than win in T4, the fights are better

Looking at the Tier scores throughout, could prob say the same about all the Tiers. Doesn’t seem to be a match-up anywhere with parity. Top of T3 had grown boring for us too…..T2 was exciting (for me anyway) even if we were outmanned by BG & KA every single day.

But, there was no way maintain score against a couple of super servers while FA rickrolled everything in T3. Overall score-wise…FA/TC are/were not that far apart.

No biggie though….looking forward to this match too.

I actually started a thread here…

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Suggestions-to-Mix-Things-Up/first#post1531353

…hoping that maybe as a community we could brainstorm as to ways to solve this issue. If you look at the Millenium Scoreboard, every tier looks pretty identical. As much as we all joked about the bandwagon guilds jumping ship over and over, at least it made for some different competition occasionally (like Kaening running up, or even our server jumping 2 tiers in 2 weeks). IMO I’d rather have that happening occasionally than locked in the eternal struggle forever.

We’d better all play nice with each other, we’re probably going to be seeing a lot of each other unless Anet or our community comes up with a reasonable solution.

So, don’t worry, you can’t possibly lose against us. ‘Cuz that would mean you’re even worse. And that just can’t be possible.

So… Let’s get this out of the way early… You dropped down from T2 where you’ve been sitting for a long time holding out against the likes of FA and Kaening. During the course of that time we were regularly smacked around be DB and either FA and the big K. So, no… no matter how much gloss you put on it, we’re not going to underestimate you. We already expect to get bounced right back down to T4 to give those poor fellows a hard time, so, yeah… try a different tactic.

FA has never “smacked” TC around.

Top of T3 doesn’t mean squat in T2.

He was talking about FA smacking Mag around I believe. Not FA smacking TC around….but thanks for saying we suck. Much appreciated.

Glad t3 gives you some good times!

Glad to be back up here. DB and FA both have some quality guilds with some fun strategies to try to counter. I’m certain TC does as well.

It would be nice if the teams that are going to bounce back and forth between tiers like us would get the chance to play the other team always swapping places with us… I doubt it will happen though the way things are now

Ay mag? Didn’t you enjoy t4? Why you back? lol

Are you kidding. Home is wherever DB is… Kind of miss FA, though… Particularly since next week they’ll have sent Kaening down to meet us.

I’m kinda starting to wish that DB would go down a tier for at least a week we never destroy but never lose bad enough to move down… How was rofl stomping t4?

With transfers costing money now, I get the feeling that whoever is currently middle position in their tier will remain middle position for the duration of time itself.
