Hope many talneted smaller gank guilds looking for instant qes come give some of the losing servers a shot. Et really could use more WvWers.
Many people really get upset about being on a losing server and frankly give up or transfer for the week.(there are numerous people who simply transfer to winning servers for ease of farm.) Yet there is many great advantages to being on the losing side….orb buff not withstanding.
1. Enemy Reacts to you. That’s right you get to make them find you.
2. Your Group gets in any server bg they want. So your guild has 10 strong players…..you pop around the four borderlands all night avoiding zergs taking points and killing all the fair weather players looking for the zerg.
3. TONS of badges. When a side is winning big they get kitteny roll around in small groups. You simply move around the map faster then a large zerg and you clean these players up and collect your badges.
4. Satisfaction of knowing your group is winning on skill, not on larger force. Trust me youll get crushed sometimes. But you will learn new tactics to make you better. Downed state makes it tough to build a Daoc like zerg busting PBAE group…..but with ten people specced right it can be done. We wiped out 30 on a door last night with ten…..
So dont give up, look at the great opportunity you get!

1. Roll with a guild. I tell all the solo players I see this is a game called Guild Wars. Right now my server is getting beaten very badly. Yet when 10 of my guild mates and I get together we can start to control section of the map.
2. Get in voice chat. Dirty jokes really help take up the moments running to and from battles.
3. Understand that their are certain strategic elements to WvW that require long runs so reinforcements arent instant. Even in SPvP there is count dont on returning to fights.
I personally like 30 Defense, 30 Tactics, and ten in choice. I use the Warhammer, Sword and Horn combo. Its is not the killer glass cannon frenzy build I used to enjoy but it has meant more victories for my guild groups and Zergs in WvW.
Why?
1. Shouts- The heals are nice…..but its the utility of what they do that is amazing. Buffs, Heals, stun removal and fear to send a group fleeing from your downed friend! On top it is a nice ae heal for door beating and keep fighting.
2. Horn- Removing two conditions and turning them into boons is huge. Rotate two warriors with horns and very few conditions stay on your group.
3. Control- Hammers slow and damage is not the best but its amazing what you can do defending a keep with a well timed two second stun followed by launching arrow carts at the spot you stunned(yes requires cord.)
4. Survival- If you are like me and enjoy melee this build lets you survive. You rush in swing a hammer a few times. Switch to sword and horn leap out, blast your horn if your rooted, use your shout shake it off is stunned. Great way to lead a push on siege outside your keep as well.

This is also a great way for the smaller guilds to get envovled. Or if your server is really struggling go after one of the better tourney Spvp teams to come help you out. These tactics work even when badly out numbered or out classed by bigger servers….practice them and you can cap points even if your World is getting destroyed.

Much has been said about the zerg versus zerg fight and the strategy of siege and reinforce. What hasn’t been covered much is the importance of small special forces like teams roaming the back lines.
1. Supply Cut Offs- A mobile team can cut down supplies moving into keeps. They can take supply camps quickly and move away blocking the supplies for a minimum of five minutes. They can all do this with moving at 2-3 times the speed of a large Zerg.
2. Crossed Swords Tactics: Creating Crossed sword Icons on a map and sending the other teams zerg in search of you can buy and does buy time for your larger forces to take keeps without reinforcements. Watching a zerg of 40 roll after your quick strike team of 4-8 is funny. They just cant keep up.
3. Cutting off Reinforcements. Lets face it every WvW map is manned by half organized and half pugs. Generally speaking when a large objective goes under attack there is a stream of disorganized people racing to it. A good gank group can take this stream of players and keep them away from a keep, or the more organized players porting back for siege weapons from reaching there.
4. Rapid Reinforcement. The ability to move quickitteno anywhere on the map and help support a point is invaluable. Large zergs simply cannot move around quickly by nature. But a efficient well run team with ports set up can get to almost any point in the map in time to support attacks and defends.
How to build a small group.
1. Speed. Your group must travel at speed 100% of the time. Work out a rotation of horns banners buffs…..its a must to stay up.
2. Voice Chat: No time to type when 50 people are incoming…..
3. Ganking Builds. You need your team to be built with the objective in mind. Not the stand off keep type. Quick kills, fast moving and lots of clensing of conditions will be needed. That way when that pesky stun lands on your players you can clense it and get away.
4. Thick Skin. Eventually the Zerg will catch you and even great players in this game get mauled 5 on 50. Just regroup, find a new area to roam and get back to it. Dont get angry with your squads.
Thats how me and my guildmates contribute most nights to our borderlands and we have a great time playing in WvW. Give it a try some night just might find it helps your struggling world improve by having one or two of these teams on each map.
Warrior in WvW is invaluable. So many fun tricks you can do that require a good team concept.
1. Banners-Banner of Tactics while at a keep is awesome. Also its a ae run buff so you get your whole zerg.
2. Death From Above-Blow Dolyack symbol, Frenzy stance, jump onto the gate and whirling blade. You knock the whole gate down and then beat the snot out of them…..really fun.
3. Chase um down. Warriors excel in chasing down runners.
4. Drawing fire(Defense Build). Run with a ae party get a bunch of enemy to zerg you. Block and watch them beat on you and die as your team mates plow them down.
Go to Spvp play with the builds, so many ways to play. Try them out before you give up.
