Anyone that thinks PVE balance over 9 classes with hundreds of different skills is achievable, especially when those same skills and classes are used in PVE and WvW, has clearly not enough experience playing MMO’s.
FFXIV says hello.
I wanted to say just few things not about ban but about how we as community went into this. First reddit post with stupid , shameful redditors, who laughed and mocked this two people.
Then GW2 official forums, thriving on this ban.
Is this what GW2 community is now ? Is it best joy for you to see someone sad and upset ?There is nothing wrong with taking pleasure in a rare visible example of Justice when a cheater gets punished. I have not one ounce of sympathy for how sad they get FOR GETTING CAUGHT.
Hey. Yeah you, cheater. We don’t just dislike you, we $&*^@#ing HATE YOU.
That’s what’s so incredibly tiresome about cheaters. It’s like they are completely oblivious to the fact that cheating isn’t just wrong, it kittenes other people off too. You’re not clever. You’re not better than everyone else ‘cause you’re breaking the rules. And to have that gall to try and rally public sympathy is such an utter disconnect with how the public actually views such shenanigans it borders on clinical narcissism.
What’s so incredibly tiresome is how, in almost every community, everyone tends to jump on someone who makes a mistake or does something wrong like dogs on fresh meat. Yes they cheated and yes punishments were certainly in line, but seriously? They didn’t burn down an orphanage or kill their family, they botted a JP. A JP of all things.
Party one committed the unforgivable crime of botting a JP, and party two enthusiastically bombarded them with enough hate to make them talk about actually wanting to die. That’s not “justice”, that’s fanaticism. They’re a difference between being happy to see someone doing the wrong thing getting caught, and then there’s blatant sadism that, in some cases. makes you even worse.
On a somewhat related note, I bet you would make an excellent DH.
Where are you going next that is better atm?
I tried swtor/teso but couldn’t get into them ;-(
I may try BDO if it comes out soon in NAWhen I quit as well (Thief main that enjoys casual PvP if that explains it), I tried FFXIV and instantly loved it. It plays very differently from GW2, in the sense that you’d be jumping from action based to something a little more traditional, however it’s a very solid game. The biggest downside is it’s sub based, but it’s worth the cost.
Have fun in your next game. I’m sure it will be everything you want and have no flaws.
There is a massive difference between flaws that need to be fixed and gutting core aspects of your game like a fish. GW2’s issue isn’t that it’s flawed, though it is, it’s that Anet is alienating huge amounts of the playerbase with their laughably bad decisions with the game.
I read other game forums sometimes. It’s interesting to see what are problems in other games and to watch the forum blow up over issues X, Y or Z. I’ve yet to see any forums that doesn’t have people sadly or angrily leaving because the Devs have betrayed the game or watered it down or didn’t fix issues X, Y, or Z fast enough. After awhile, all the forums posts look the same. It’s just a shuffling around of what is the outrage of the day.
I both agree and disagree. Yeah these are MMOs we’re talking about… the game will always be dying, the devs will always be idiots, game a terrible mess and so on. I can’t really think of an exception off the top of my head.
Where it gets different here is, while it’s easy to think of other games where the playerbase whines, I can’t think of too many times where there were bad decisions made as well as a shift of the game’s direction all at once. They released a huge PvP tournament with next to no updates or comments addressing the balance nightmare that exists right now, they purposely devalued and entire part of the game, released an expansion that completely contradicts the original manifesto (though for the record I’m not agianst difficulty) and so on. I’m not even going to get started on fractals and WvW.
There’s more as you know, but these kinds of changes aren’t small annoyances. These are some pretty major errors that seriously need to be addressed. Furthermore, when you see such things happening it doesn’t exactly inspire too much hope in the direction of the game. Yes every forum has people screaming about how bad the game is and so on, but not too every game has the dilemma of, again, having the core concepts gutted.
Gutted. Or revamped to change it in a different direction.
Right now the WoW forum’s big thing is the upcoming pruning or “gutting” of all the skills with the new expansion. People aren’t too happy with how skills they’ve been using are going to be removed. Some people over there think that’s a big deal and a bad decision towards making the play to easy.
And you should have read the forums over there about the flying brouhaha. Lots of quit posts.
Same tune, different words. Second verse same as the first.
Admittedly I’ve never really played WoW so I had no idea, but I’ll certainly take your word for it.
I have nothing against the game shifting directions, but if it’s going to shift directions there’s a few things that should be taken care of. Does this directional shift work well with the rest of the game? Will any other parts of the game be devalued or flat out made obsolete by this change? Will the first steps be handled carefully and not a complete facepunch? Will it be fun?
In the case of GW2 the answer to all of these is a resounding no, with the last one being subjective. It’s not a case of these changes being to hard or too different, they simply suck the fun out. I’d be more than happy to elaborate on that of course, but only if you wanted me to.

Well against revenant thief wins almost everytime when revenant gets 7s of slow from stealth and can’t use skills.
I could be wrong but IIRC doesn’t slow also slow down skills in beneficial ways as well? By this I mean extended time in crystal hibernation, worst case scenario there’s always this to fall back on.
Admittedly I haven’t really run into this problem too much (possibly because I run invocation + staff for PvP), but I haven’t had any issues with any thief in a 1v1 scenario. Between more damage migation and tankiness, a nice stealth breaker on glint, and subjectively higher burst their stolen skill can only carry the matchup but so far.
Thieves was most survivable tanks about 1-2 year ago. May be try something else then zerker glass cannon build?
And i don’t think, that ability attack someone and easy run away is worst. Get this to my revenant and i will be happy. Get this to my engj about year ago “i will be happy”.
Ask this question anyone – ability easy run away is greatest!
Cos so interesting dueling with one people and try to run away from 3 bodies at next moment. Thieves can do it, why others can’t away even from thief?
That was 1-2 years ago, now even the mandatory marauder’s doesn’t cut it. Former thief here so perhaps I am a little biased, however every profession has their strengths and weaknesses. Mobility is of course the thiefs, and is almost the sole reason why they remain relevant in the PvP meta.
Ultimately it comes down to this, are thieves a very mobile class? Of course they are, however when it comes to actual combat the best approach (that I very sadly have to agree with) is to not initiate 1v1s in the first place due to how weak it is right now. If we were to do as you said and give engie and rev (though rev has strong mobility already) thief levels of mobility the profession would become completely redundant.
Too much mobility, too much invisible, too much dmg with spamming (no one can;t survive against thief with 50% hp at the moment of attack, even block biggest part of shots).
Just try to play someone else to understand, that thieves too strong even in handless player…
and main problem, that you can’t run away from this kitty. But he can run from you=)
The sad thing is that, despite thief being far and away the weakest dueling profession, you probably actually believe all of that. There’s certainly an issue here but it’s not with thieves being “too strong”.
Diving back into reality for a moment, the profession has some serious sustain issues especially in PvP. If their stolen skill helps with that a bit I see nothing wrong with it.
Do you remember, or better yet own, one of the color refractors from Halloween? Does the color effect also apply to your clones? Thanks in advance.
Yea I would like to know too.
I’m talking something like venomshare/PVE content.
Has anyone done the math.I really want to belive it eventhough I’m pretty sure it isn’t viable.
It’s surprisingly viable. I was testing it in SW and, while it seemed like you could push more DPS out with power, sharing spider venom will result in some really solid ticks just from poison alone. Think like 7k+ per if everyone’s focusing the same thing.
I haven’t played with it in dungeons or fractals however, so no idea how well it works there.

Let’s look at WoW for a moment shall we? Keeping things as cheap as possible the core game costs $19.99, and the lowest price for a subscription is $11.50, so if you play for a year that’s $157.99. This is ignoring expansions, the higher priced subscription plans, and so on.
GW2 is a one time purchase of $40, $20, or $10 depending on when you got it. $157.99 for a year versus a flat $40. The $50 price tag is fine.
What an asinine comparison. Just because it’ll cost more to play WoW for a year doesn’t magically make this expansion worth $50.
You miss the point, which is you’ve already saved a tremendous amount of cash by simply playing the game for any amount of time at all. You’re welcome to play an inexpensive game and complain about the cost of it’s expansion, but please keep in mind that in the big MMO picture this price tag is nothing.
Unless of course $50 is just that difficult for someone to come by, and they had to wait for the $10 price drop after receiving the gaming computer donation, in which case I somewhat sympathize.

Thank you for the replies.
Idk. To check what you said I attempted to link an old account to this account and got a long number/letter stream also where it said that was my display name. I suppose that could be your display name for Guild Wars 1. it doesn’t say though and I wouldn’t like to hit the accept button, the next step on that page, till I knew for sure.
The hall of monuments is disabled right now because of a bug giving people titles and items even if they never played Guild Wars 1. Maybe where its not registering but sending you in a loop has to do with that. Since the rewards are currently inaccessible in Guild Wars 2 anyway, you could wait till the bug is fixed and try again.
It almost looks like a serial code. I don’t suppose you have your old code to compare to it to see if it’s similar.
I had forgotten all about that, maybe disabling the HoM is what’s causing it. From this reply I did unsuccessful try to use the string as my username, so sadly that doesn’t seem to be the fix. I also compared it to the game’s activation key (assuming this is what you were referring to, I don’t have a hard copy for a serial) and the string I linked is completely unrelated.
I have found that that string of numbers is a cookie designation (you can find it if you open the cookies in your browser, even if you aren’t trying to link accounts), so maybe if you cleared your cookies or cache or something, it will use the actual email address/Display Name, instead.
I don’t know, as I haven’t tried it.
It has nothing to do with the HoM rewards being disabled, as this ‘error/bug’ cropped up long before the Devs took that action.
Good luck.
I cleared my cookies, as well as cache just to be safe, and sadly that didn’t seem to do the trick. I appreciate it anyways.
After enjoying GW2 I decided to buy the original game, both to see what it was about as well as to get some HoM rewards, however I’ve been experiencing issues with linking the two accounts. Whenever I enter in the login information I used for GW1 rather than registering it changes my display name to this.

From this point it’ll say that both of my accounts are linked, but as soon as I log out of this and back into my normal GW2 account I’m back to square one with it telling me I can link my accounts. Does anyone know any solutions for this, am I doing something wrong, or if all else fails is there a way to get in touch with customer support?
elaine canterwell … norn thieves ftw
Hah I love the way the tattoo works with those leggings. Smart.
I can’t shake the sleek catsuit look. Transmuted my Quip to a more stealthy option.
Some heavy ScarJo inspo here.
What top are you wearing with that? I love the catsuit look.
I’m not a fan of meta either, but by asking for the meta to end you’re actually just asking for people to change the way they think and do things.
The concept of a meta isn’t exclusive to this game. Every MMO you can possibly think of has some form of meta, and that’s because a lot of people want to do things as efficiently as possible. This is pretty much impossible to avoid no matter how many nerfs ANet releases, and honestly going on a pointless nerfing rampage would harm the game far more than metas supposedly do.
Now the question I’ve always had on my mind is this, how does the playstyle of other players impact your game experience? To my understanding it was still completely possible to run whatever build you wanted provided you said so in the LFG, grouped up with friends or guild members who felt the same way, or anything of the sort.
Perhaps the glorious cookie cutter meta master race mindset harms the community, however perhaps I’m missing something because I still don’t see a viable fix or even the problem itself.
