Define complexity. GW 2 graphics is already complex.
You character will adapt to graded slopes and a lift a leg higher than another
Dude, she´s frikken floating!
Are you trying to win a fanboy award or something?Yes they added somewhat less braindead collision detection. But their MAIN graphics optimization isn´t even done in house but by those Icelanders from UMBRA.
And the kitten Occlusion Culling is clearly broken in this game, as the last 8 months in the Tech Support Board has proven.

DUDE ARE YOU KITTEN KIDDING ME? SHE’S KITTEN FLOATING. YOU CALL THAT COMPLEX GRAPHIC ADAPTATION?!!
on FPS, less populated map avrg 115 frames, higher populated map avrg 75-85 fps and in WvW avrg 25-30 fps (after culling is removed)
additional info:when world boss chest loot is only soulbound, on claw of jormag event, 25-35 fps on avrg
Thanks for the heads up. As I´ve gone for an i5 my performance should be slightly(I hope) worse than that.
But at least it seems to be playable, unlike now where I get single digits while in the middle of a Dragon Event(or near a kitten Molten Alliance Portal (what the kittendroppings is up with that ANet?!)).Haven´t even bothered with PVP yet.
PVP should be fine. You’ll experiencing poor fps in WvW and Dragon events (when there are alot of players) only.
This engine is still buggy as hell in its hardware detection and usage.
I´m about to do a core hardware upgrade from AMD (PhenomII 965) to Intel(3570k), and if this crappy & buggy performance still persists this game will be dead to me.Plain and simple.
@HawkMeister.
You might be dissapointed then. I’m running on i73770k, GTX680, SSD,16GB gaming ram. GW2’s performance (all settings on full specs) is still poor IMO because of its engine.
Could you elaborate on “poor”? Like, what exactly do you notice performance wise that causes you to believe you have performance issues? My specs are in my signature, obviously some of us are not the majority as far as our pc’s, but there’s nothing wrong with lower end. Just curious what you categorize as poor.
Also to the others who are comparing GW2 (an MMO) to single player games-stop it. Naught people, just don’t. :P
I would love to see the difference though when PVE no longer has culling. Then we could truly see how much the game takes as far as resources.

it’s true, can’t compare MMOs with single player games like Skyrim for MMO specification needs to cater to the majority of gamers. However if I use Aion as comparison, Aion’s graphics and FPS is better.
Aions graphics were definitely more complex, and I did get good fps there. But that game is a huge resource hog… I read from wiki I think that GW2’s engine was a highly modified version of gw1. Granted this was probably cheaper, but in the long run they may have decreased the ability to optimize it very much beyond what it is. I mean could you imagine FFXIV using the same setup as FFXI…. But since you played Aion as well you probably remember when they did the hmm.. 2.0? Update or maybe 3.0 where they upped the graphics engine or something? Was that to an entirely different or upgraded engine? Or just a tweak? I ask because I wonder if GW2 could do the same.
And Aion was running on crytek 2 engine which is superior at that time. Yes and they recently moved to 3.0 not long ago and still running on the same engine with optimization on the game.
therefore again IMO, gw2 client is poor in comparison as i get low fps in WvW and events where there are alot of players on my rig’s specs.
So arenanet created its own engine for gw1, and then advanced it for gw2? Sorry for the noobness lol.
Yes they did and are using their own engine.
IMO, it’s not only their engine but their client as well. If you have not noticed, it’s only 1 file, done so by Anet to prevent hacking (so they said, yet there are fly hacks and bots). The 1 file takes up more read resource and stores up alot of temp data. A friend of mine cleared his and he has cleared 500MB worth of it from GW2 alone.
I’m waiting on Blade and Soul (US) to be released…can’t wait. I’m already someone semi quiting gw2.

aimed for Sunrise and got it just a month ago after clocking in 1k hours. I guess my objective is achieved. Having said that, now the game holds nothing for me. Waiting on other MMOs like Blade and Soul to be released.
I have over 1k hours an I JUST got a level 80 :O
I wanna play blade and soul too. it seems like it will be cool
@Lukrath. We can only wait…it has been a 3 year wait for me
The only way to make these people happy in their minds is to give them a precursor when they want it for very little effort. That’s the world we live in now. Instant gratification with no work.
That sums up the majority of the discontent of the current situation.

I farmed Sparks at the gates of Arah with about 110% Magic Find and got 1 Charged Lodestone in less than an hour. If you really spent ~10 hours and didn’t get one, you were just really, really unlucky.
Although I understand, I need to get these for Sunrise. Gonna be one hell of a farm, since I really can’t afford to spend 300g buying them from TP. Whenever I see one for less than 3g I immediately buy it.
Also, the Orrian Jewelry boxes have such a low percentage to drop Lodestones you could almost call it a waste.
@Sebulon
Honestly speaking, you’re not farming efficiently. I recommend two options.
1)Run CoE exp, the chest has a chance of giving you cores or lodestones. If not you’ll get the gold from the dg run and buy them.
2)Run CoF p1 and just farm the gold to buy them.
Either of the two options above or with the method you’re doing now which is farming spark, all 3 still requires grind/farm.
CoF p1 farming with definately yeild the gold to buy the core/lodestone rather than the uncertainty of farming sparks for an hour to obtain a or multiple lodestone.
At the risk of sounding like an kitten do casual people really feel that playing a couple hours a day entitles them to having something that was/is meant to take months to finish?
COmpletely false
I play since day one…
I play a lot actually and i like dungeons and challenging content…I still have to see enough money to get a precursor….if i saved all my money except for needed equip i would net little more than half the price of a precursor.
Farming cof/TP is not PLAYING.
Also yes since legendary became a tier should be accessible to anyone…
I never wanted a legendary but anet decided on 15 november thant legendary should be the best tier around…I still find most of them ugly as hell but thank to anet i NEED them now……(and yes need as you need ascended rings and stuff….in order to play on the same level then other players..).
You don’t NEED a legendary, it’s base stats is the same with an exotic weapon and every legendary weapon comes with soldier’s stats which means power toughness vitality. It’s purely for comestic purposes. It’s more you WANT it more than you NEED it.
My game time totalled to 1K hours over 6 months, I’ve worked at my sunrise, i’ve dumped more than 300g into the Mtoilet and decided RNG isn’t going to be kind to me and I’ve farmed the gold for most of ingredients. I didn’t NEED sunrise, I WANTED it.
It’s like life, if you want something bad enough, work on it…or unless you are struck with dumb luck with the lottery
lies again….
It has same stats for now,….And AS ALREADY HAPPENED (were upped to ascended for mistake time ago) it will be upped to ascended soon and then possibly to lvl 100.
So enjoy investing in exotics that will Worth 0 in no time….
Legendary was a skin before 15 november 2012, after that date it became a TIER.
Legendary > ascended > exotic…….
This is official.
Also when ascended and other tiers will be released, enojoy your unfair advantage while people will be farming for month for their ascended…..(taking in consideration current ascended earrings and necklaces for ex).
As i said if they were only ugly skin as they are i wouldn t care.
What you have not taken in consideration is that when the current legendaries are bumped to ascended stats, Anet will be releasing ascended tiered weapons and armors.
I fail to see what lies have i spewed.
Ask yourself trully, is the legendary that you working for, something you NEED or something you want.
Hey guys i wanted to know if a friend of my trades me 200 gold to get my golden title and after i will send it back will there be any complications about that transfer?
i mean would we both be flagged as RMT? and risk an ban with it?
ty in advance if possible i would like to hear an ANET dev about this ty!
Question: The title is an achievement. If you have not put in the effort to earn 200 gold to earn the title. Would it be an achievement?

I do believe that the precursors are being managed by a few individuals. I’ve bought dawn not too long ago and what strikes me as funny is.
the selling price was 530 and the pre orders are from the range of 410 to 490. I played around with the pre order, entering in 430. then my offer got outbid by just 1 copper. Obviously I’ll go and beat it by another copper or at times 1 silver. This went on for quite sometime and the impression i had is, somebody, most likely the owner(s) of these precursors are pushing the pre order to get close or to match the selling price.
after 2 weeks of this dance i decided to just put in 430 and let it sit for 2 weeks. Everytime i login i noticed that my pre order sits somewhere in between cause the lowest is 400 and the highest is 490. One day, I see dawn on my purchased screen, I checked what is the current pre order, and the highest is still 490.
Sooo, this is odd i thought, the guy that sold it to me didn’t sell it to the highest bidder. Interesting.
or maybe someone else like you wanted to buy it? I would enter bidding wars just upcutting by 1c because I wanted to be the first guy who gets that buy order fulfilled.
unlikely because people are in for profits, not for hey i like the number 430, lets give it to him.
the higher pre orders belongs to the same people that is selling the precursors.

Dusk and Dawn is now at 610 and 622.
GW2 economics now could be manipulated by gold sellers now or maybe nexon
I guess its logical for us to try to find comfort in statistics by computing medians and averages to formula a percentage. I agree without a large amount of sample data we can pull a figure. Like in a roulette table, you can predict outcomes by looking at past data.
However bottom line, it is pure luck. It’s a gamble.
Use the OP theory of 1/1000 for an attempt to pull a precursor out of the toilet, its comforting to think that one will get it at the in one of those thousand tries. No its a chance to get it in those thousand tries.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to seek comfort into thinking that eventually i will get a precursor at one point from MF since I’d like own Sunrise.
ye sell it and buy dusk
since its based on RNG, random number generation, each item of its own coding, i would say you can throw percentages and statistics out of the picture. It’s pure blind luck.
I’ve got two mates in the guild that has randomed precursors on their second attempt in the mystic toilet where i’ve dumped in about 300-350 thus far and nada.
There are people that has thrown in 1500-2000 rare gs in the toilet with no luck as well.
So, the precursor dawn and dusk has gone up again, 510 and 522 respectively. Great job on monitoring the price! keep on monitoring
@solarnova
I’ve asked friends that are playing gw2 as well and i’m pretty sure its the same all around…isn’t your cpu fan screaming “Y R U STRESSING ME OUT” during WvW and World Boss events?
Honestly, the game client/engine could be of better design than this.
@solarnova
well i commented on my experience and i never on WvW in large scale battles, more like medium skirmishes. May hv stated it wrongly, I’ve OC-ed my cpu to 4.2 so yes i get 100 fps in WvW
@revan
the game client is pretty resource intensive so a large part of it will be dependant on your cpu and ram. this i think is either due to the single file game client or perhaps the client engine itself isn’t really good.
I would recommend you going fer the gtx560ti
i’m on i7 3.5ghz, 16g ram, asus gtx680 and SSD. I get around 140 fps on pve and it will drop to 100-110 on WvW and world boss event. Running on ultra high settings as well.
I recommend going for the gtx560ti

Well Anet, will you continue to watch the prices soar higher?
