Mystic Barricade not working for Horologicus

SolidGold.7958

Hi, I’ve tried buying and making myself the Mystic Barricade shield for the Horologicus collection, but neither one worked. It still says it’s locked/hidden. The first time I thought I could just buy it from the trading post to get it, so I did. But it didn’t unlock upon acquiring it, so I thought “Oh, I must have to make it myself, that makes sense I guess.” So I did. Well, okay, I bought the shield backing and boss of the tp, but I put in my own eldritch scroll and mystic coins. Do I have to craft my own shield backing and boss for it to work too? Am I doing something wrong?

Yay, I’m not the only person hearing stuff. Played for a few hours yesterday with my sister, and she never mentioned anything, so I didn’t mention anything either. But I thought I must be crazy, like there were characters running around that I couldn’t see or something. But then I realized that my characters lips were moving every time it happened, and was all horrified like “gasp it’s me!” :O

We were able to confirm that the Heart of Maguuma is a region that will consist of multiple maps. Colin said that with this region they are focusing on the depth of the experience, not on creating a whole bunch of maps that you tear through quickly and leave a wasteland of unused content with no long term value.”

Well, they said that there will be multiple maps in the zam interview, so by definition, that’s at least 2. I’m guessing something around 3 new zones, but with the 3 levels, which is kinda like 3 zones in one, so that would be the equivalent of 9 zones as far as I’m concerned. That sounds like a pretty good size to me.

SolidGold.7958

In another thread someone was saying that they might use specs as a way to add some cultural flair to each expansion/region (e.g. Rangers going to the Maguuma Jungle become Druids). I think that’s a pretty cool theory, and if that’s the case, then perhaps when we go to Cantha (before I die), the Revenant might summon one of the Emperors, or maybe Shiro or something. Who knows?

But, no matter how I look at it, even with some themed specs, Necromancers and Revenants aren’t Ritualists. They’re Necromancers and Revenants. Their themes are just too different. I think it’s time I grow up a bit, and give up on reliving the Cantha days (at the very least until we actually go to Cantha).

Maybe it’s for the best I don’t pick up a new character. Besides, I really don’t want to 100% the world a third time

SolidGold.7958

Hi, I haven’t started season 2 yet (hurray for depression/stress and schoolwork! ), but I’m going to start working on that soon, seeing as HoT will be coming later this year. I was reading the wiki, and I saw that it says you can get some ascended trinkets for completing all the achievements in certain chapters.

I was wondering how easy/difficult is it to get those ascended trinkets (via achievements), vs getting stat-equivalent ones the normal way (fractals, laurels, etc.). Should I try to get the ascended trinkets from season 2, or just get them the normal way instead?

Or are they really not worth getting in the first place?

I also would like a way for small guilds to be able to get a guild hall. My guild is just for me and my siblings, so, there’s only 3 of us in total. But we had a guild hall in Factions, and we all loved it to death because we had so much fun running around our private little home in the snow. So I sure do hope that there is a way for us to enjoy having our private little home like we did all those years ago! <3

I want some sort of trackable questline for getting ascended/legendary gear. Just a tangible in-game check list that shows me what I need, how much of it, how much I have, what combines into what, etc. The biggest reason I haven’t started working on ascended/legendary gear is it’s just so confusing for me, even when reading the wiki. There’s so many items, and I don’t understand what combines into what. If there was some sort of in-game checklist I could use, I’d definitely start working on that. I’m not asking them to give me anything for free, I just want something to show the steps involved, and to track my progress so I understand what’s left for me to do.

New races would be cool, but I don’t think they’ll do that. The problem with that is the current 5 races are so tied to the world already. Everywhere you go you see charr, asurans, norn, sylvari and humans. Traveling makes you feel like you’re part of a culture that’s spread throughout the world. If they add the kodan for example, then the players would be basically the only kodan walking around. What would they do? Add a bunch of kodan npcs all over the world? Race-change some of the current npcs? I’m not saying they won’t add a new race or two, I just think it’s unlikely considering the obstacles involved inorder to get them to be as integrated into the world as the current 5 are.

Although I could maybe see them add a new race when we go to a new continent. Like say when we go to Cantha, they could add the Tengu then I suppose, because they would be developing a whole new world, so they could put a new playable race throughout it. But again, eeeeehhhhhhhh, probably not.

it doesn’t have to be a new continent, just their native region (sadly for the tengu, that means “nowhere”, since all the canthan ones are either in kryta or dead). kodans for example could be added in an expansion that pushes far north, where they would be the majority. it’s not like there aren’t kodan refugee tribes spread everywhere in the shiverpeaks, plus the oddball in other regions (like lion’s arch, or at least there were some there before it was nuked)

True, I guess I just think it would be odd if some of the playable races were mostly just in one region, when all the other ones are all over the world, in every region.

With the blindfold and the summoning of otherworldly beings, I’m scared this means that this was ArenaNet’s way of saying that there is no way the Ritualist is making a comeback when we go to Cantha. Just the like the Thief crushed my brother’s wishes of the Assassin making a return, I think the Revenant just crushed mine.

As someone said earlier, they could make Paras become a specialization, maybe even with a unique weapon, instead of making an entirely new class. Which got me thinking that they might add specializations with unique weapons when they go to Elona and Cantha. They could do this for all the old classes. When we go to Elona, Guardians could become Paragons, and Warriors could become Dervishes. When we go to Cantha, Thieves could become Assassins, and I dunno, maybe Necros or Revenants could become Ritualists. But that would all be quite the nod to the original game, and I doubt they’ll go THAT far.

Question about missing out on Phase 3

in The Lost Shores

Posted by: SolidGold.7958

SolidGold.7958

I have been, and will be busy during this weekend and have only been able to play at night. Needless to say I missed whatever one-time event happened yesterday, and I’ve missed whatever one-time event probably happened today, and I’m going to miss whatever one-time event will happen tomorrow.

I only just got to finish the Phase 1 stuff this evening because it was bugged out last night. So I did all the stuff like investigating the wreckage, beating that noll dude and the sylvari guy senseless etc.

I have yet to travel to the new zone (Sun-something-Cove).

In summary, I’ve completed Phase 1. I have not started Phase 2. And I won’t get to log on until Phase 3 is over.

So my question is:

When I log on at like, 8pm sunday night, and I take the ship from Lion’s Arch to Sun-something-Cove, what will happen? Will I be able to do Phase 2? Will there be no Phase 2 for me, leaving just another 80 explorable zone? If I do get to play Phase 2, what happens to phase 3 for me? Does the story just have a cliffhanger ending because I missed it? Or when I log on tomorrow, will I just get another mail saying “everyone who wasn’t busy this weekend got to play in a fun event, and killed awesome stuff, and you missed it.”?

I’m not super angry at Anet or anything. I understand that they just simply can’t accomidate everyone’s schedules. I am still very disappointed that I have/will miss this entire event however. :’(

Norn Female voiceover

SolidGold.7958

I’d have to agree with the OP, the norn female voice is quite painful to listen too. Which is a real shame! I’d love to explore and go through the norn story, but her voice is just so painful that I can’t bare to. All the other voices are amazing, it’s just the female norn one. My personal favourite is both the male and female asura voices. They’re hilariously perfect! <3 But anyway, ya, the female norn voice is either too deep or just doesn’t have as wide a spread of tones, etc. It’s as if the voice actress was striving so hard to keep a deep and serious tone – that she forgot about acting. It’s painfully obnoxious, could someone please do it over.

Now, before anyone say “oh, your just some kid who doesn’t like real womenly voices,” I want to say – that’s not true at all. I LOVE EIR’s voice. I think it’s awesome, fits the norn race very well, and that she does an amazing job. It’s what MADE me want to play as a female norn ranger, because I loved her voice/style so much. And let me tell you, there is a BIG difference in the acting quality of Eir’s voice, and the female norn voice. Eir’s voice goes up and down, she shows emotion, and it’s good acting for the character that she is trying to portray. The female norn voice? Just. Painful. Can ArenaNet please get someone to redo it?

No, being able to change professions is kittarded. If you didn’t want a lvl 80 mesmer, you shouldn’t have made a level 80 mesmer. You get nerfed? Big kittily deal. Everyone gets nerfed, and everyone gets buffed eventually. You disappointed you’re not the FotM now? DOESN’T MATTER – Re-roll and have fun experiencing the game again like you’re supposed to.

“Wah wah, I want to buy my character a new profession every week so I can try out all chars at max level! wahhhhhhh”

/rant

First of all, please be more polite. Secondly, everyone already CAN try out every class at max level – it’s called sPvP. So obviously that’s not an issue. Everybody can already try out the class, and all their spells and traits, etc. to see if they like it or not, and be able to learn how the class works. The only reason anyone wants a class change option would be to play as that class at max level in PvE. And I can understand why plenty of people do not want one. But let’s try to have a civilized discussion about it shall we?

There’re probably interested players out there, but it’s unlikely to happen. The thing is leveling areas are already desert now. Dynamic Events are designed to be played with other players, but yet they are alone most of the time and have trouble leveling smoothly. Anet are aware of the problem. Allowing player to change class instead of rolling alts will accentuate the problem.

This comes from gw1 and its perfect as it is. You want your LEGENDARY gear to deal one trillion more damage than some1 else’s? go back to your trash WoW.

Hey man, lighten up. The guy isn’t hating on GW. He obviously likes the game too. He’s just trying to see if there is a way that it could be improved by what he values. There isn’t anything wrong with that. In fact, he’s being really polite about the whole situation. I disagree with what he wants to do as well, but it’s no reason to be rude.

Back on topic, I just dunno about making legendaries better stat wise. I think that even they were only slightly better stat wise, that the GW community would disapprove greatly. Earlier you suggested allowing us to be able to customize the stats that we can have on our legendaries. Not pick the numbers, but pick the categories as it were. I actually think that’s an interesting idea. It would allow them to feel more personal like you said. Although ya, I kinda figure that ArenaNet has already balanced out the stats on the weapons based on the skills associated with each individual weapon, and how they want that weapon to be used.

In general, I think that changing anything about how legendaries work at this point is/will be rather difficult, for a variety of reasons.

Ya, I think it would be nice to be able to change up our classes if we want to try something new, rather than have to level another to 80. Although I can understand why they would not want to do that, because of the whole “You won’t know the class properly” opinion. Which, is true, but I don’t think that is reason enough to limit how other people want to play.

I’m not going to say that your opinion is wrong OP, but rather that you are just misunderstanding what Guild Wars is all about.

GW was never about stats/gear. Especially in PvP. Stats give people unfair advantages regardless of how much skill they actually have. And GW pvp was always about skill, that’s why everyone had balanced “PvP gear” when they entered a pvp zone. To put everyone on an even playing field stat wise, and from there, it’s all about creating builds, and player skill.

I guess you’re talking more about the pve side of things, which, was the same deal really. If someone has better stats than you, then they’re more useful for your team/group, even if you’re a better player. Again, it’s the same thing with dungeons, GW is about skill, not numbers on a character sheet.

However, people will always want bragging rights, something to show off to others about how much time they’ve put into the game. And thus, it’s all about titles and shiny skins. THAT’s how you show off what you’ve done ingame.

I can understand how you feel, and it makes sense seeing as that’s how it worked where you came from. But this is GW2, not FF#. This is how our game works, and this is how we like to play it. If it suits you, awesome, come join us. If it doesn’t, then sad face.

SolidGold.7958

As the leader of a Jade Quarry small group of Ascendancy [RISE] members, I want to announce that with our unstoppable 400+ tally point lead right now, we have won the game. It is obvious that this kind of record is unmatched, and that our competitors are just out of their league. At this time, many members of Jade Quarry will be quitting Guild Wars 2 for other games, transferring to other servers, or reforming into new guilds.

This doesn’t mean Jade Quarry won’t have a presence in WvW in the future, just that some people might switch servers or go elsewhere. The current members of Jade Quarry may or may not stay under the same membership. The main point is that some people will seek doing other things sometimes.

I want to thank all the other guilds who made this happen. I’m sure you have a guild tag, but because I don’t play at this hour, I don’t know your guild tag. But good job whomever got us this win. With this 400+ point lead going on for multiple tallies, it is just no longer fun anymore to win so hard for a lot of people. And due to the lack of attention to theorycrafting armchair home game devs by ArenaNet, we feel its time to put our attention elsewhere.

Thanks again for this massive point tally lead and putting us in first place. We are the undefeated winners of the past 48 point tallies, going 48-0 is amazing, and at this point we will retire from the game. This accomplishment goes to all the players, guild or not, zerg or not, who have played for the past 12 hours.

48-0 is good enough, and we will go down in history as the best server of all time because of it. Good job Jade Quarry 48 to 0!

With the way WvW is going in a majority of matches, the winner is guaranteed pretty much after Wednesday. The only thing 2 week matchups will change (if there ever will be 2 week matchups, which I don’t think will happen) is a bigger number on the scoresheet, just like how 1 week matchups changed almost nothing.

Yup. That exactly. I do hope that they don’t make two week long matches. What’s the point? The server that is ahead will continue to be ahead, and the other two will battle it out for second. Meh, I’d personally rather have one week long battles, and get to face a new opponent (hopefully) every week than battle the same people for a whole other week when the outcome has already been determined in a mater of several days.

P.S. Also, I find it incredibly ironic that a guy who’s completely giving up on the game…is called Rebound…
