I was also having this issue via Optus cable (Aus).

I can confirm Betternet VPN also allowed me to finish patching (Thanks Reptile).

However, I can’t confirm if it installs any malware when you install it. I installed it, patched and then uninstalled it.

Now logging in fine

Me too – same thing. Stops at the 3rd last file at about 37Mb downloaded.

I even tried this article but it didn’t make any difference.

Frequent crashing from "corrupted files"

A while back I had an issue where I was stuck in a repair loop.

I found that because I was using Win 7 I had to move the install directory out of the ‘program files’ folder – to somewhere like c:\GW2.

I read somewhere on these or the GW2 Guru forums that Win 7/Vista handles the permissions on that folder differently and that even removing UAC doesn’t get around it.

Moving it out and doing a repair fixed my repair loop issues and also managed to get me through a story line quest that kept crashing.

“Update Notes – October 1st 2012

General

Fixed a camera bug which occasionally caused the camera to get too close to the player’s backside. "

After this change I can no longer zoom into my Norn’s butt area. All I get when I zoom in is back.

Please look at lowering the camera a bit.

Just wanted to add that I was having these issues – same crash with error etc.

I fixed it by running memtest 86+ off a bootable USB stick.

This found errors – I took ram out one by one and narrowed it down to a bad stick.

Been running flawlessly ever since.

Some quick ideas….

Is GW2 actually seeing bad performance in game? If so what symptoms?

Run a virus scan and clean up anything it finds

Disable any other programs that aren’t necessary (iTunes etc)

Run GW2 in fullscreen mode

Lower the in game settings

I also read somewhere here that at this stage GW2 shouldn’t run on an overclocked computer. Not sure if you have OC’ed or not.

What are your PC specs? (ram, GPU etc)

Does it get any harder?

Hi

Just wanted to find out…..

I previously leveled an ele to 80. I got my exotics so I decided to role a Warrior for kicks.

Last night I reached level 20 and I found myslef settling into auto pilot – not touching the keyboard – letting my warrior auto-attack mobs without taking any damage that my signet of regeneration (not sure if that’s the exact name) wasn’t healing through. I didn’t even have a shield equiped.

At one stage I got a real shock as I found myself downing a veteran while eating my singapore noodles and I hadn’t touching the keyboard once for a good 10 minutes.

This is not going to happen on an ele.

Does it get any harder at later levels (?) because let’s face it – if I can down mobs without touching the keyboard, imagine how good I’ll be when I actually pay attention and press some buttons.

P.S. – not trolling about not touching the keyboard.

The worst part is how hard 50% of these posts are to follow, due to their bad English skills.

I was having crashes due to corrupt files and memory address errors every 20 or 30 minutes. Constantly having to repair the archive and in some cases do a reboot.

On Friday night (Aus time) I got home, installed the latest NVIDIA public release driver (I did have the latest beta – I’ve heard on forums they are the same drivers but I’m not sure if thats completely true) and there was a GW2 client update when I logged in.

Happy to say I haven’t had any crashes all weekend – played a good 13 hours or so.

The only other thing I can think of that might be different is that I also hit the 70 zones at around the same time. I have a feeling that all my crashes were occuring when loading into maps via waypoints – in particular ealry zones like Queensdale. I went to Queensdale once or twice though this weekend without crashing. the rest of my time was spent moving around the 70+ zones near Orr.
