My PC doesn’t support WvW (even on minimum) but I dislike pvp anyway.
Well with my playstyle I do very few events. I do dungeons, frostgorge champ farm, and sometimes fractals at level (i.e. no karma) plus leveling alts mostly via personal story and fast map running (mainly skillpoints and waypoints)- So my karma was reduced from 10k a day without trying to like 1k
But I just adapt for now and am very stingy with karma spending, so it’s not that bad :-) (I just ditch going for ascended and legendary .. too much grind anyway) I miss buying armor, weapons, skins, gathering tools, salvaging kits without worrying at all since I always had a ton of karma but it’s pretty easy to adapt and buy with money (and money is easier to come by now) ;-)
IMO it’s too unbalanced, AC is never contested or CM or TA. Arah is contested all the time and COF switches between open and closed fast (and sometimes event for uncontesting doesn’t start) . And I agree it should just go.
Fractals as the only reliable karma source gets old fast (there are more annoying and long fractals than fun ones, dredge fractal makes me bang my head against my desk ;-) )
The biggest gripe I have with karma nerf is that dungeons now give ZERO karma :-(
This needs to be changed, at least a karma reward once per day per path per account .
Hmm ok, I thought with LFG it would be changed (no more specific “instance leader/opener”) but apparently not, I hope it gets fixed soon.
I agree with the subsections story / explorable. Currently there are very few listings but soon there will be dozens and it will get more difficult to find what you are looking for. Also, fractals 20-29, 30-39. Difficulty may not increase too much 20-39, but the required AR rises quite a bit.
A few bugs in relation to dungeon / fractal groups need to be fixed still:
- Instance tied to the person who first entered, if he quits the group gets kicked out (also an issue if the instance opener leaves before people could grab the boss chest)
- Sometimes you end up in a different instance than the rest of your party. Sometimes zoning in and out or relogging fixes that, but sometimes it doesn’t
Also I think there should be some regulations to kicking, like a kick vote cooldown if you use it too often (so it makes you think twice about using it and only use it on griefers) and remove ability to kick someone in the last fractal / before the last boss to counter trolls.
Wow, most of you guys are rich. I have around 15g across all my chars. No expensive mats (I sell them all – I only craft for levels)
No expensive gear on characters either, all token/karma/laurel/dropped gear.
I’ve only been playing for 3 months and needed to convert a lot of money to gems, so that’s why I’m still poor ;-)
Sorcerer, with hearts don’t you typically have to collect X or kill X?
Yes, but
1) you don’t have to collect them and turn them in (half-way across the map and then you get send to the other side of the map for the follow-up >.<)
2) you can quite often do them during an event
3) you don’t HAVE to do them, ex. getting to 80 without doing a lot of hearts (=non-story quests), except accidentally through an event is far easier in GW2 than in WOW, Rift, etc.
And yes, I’d like to see more hearts with other objectives than standard fighting and collecting :-) riddles, mini-games etc.
I want every MMO to use dynamic events and story quests now ;-) (Swtor does story better than GW2 but then again they had a much bigger budget)
A tactic that works well if you can get your party to listen:
-Don’t attack the front burrow.
-1 guy defends at NPC.
-Kill off the first chain of burrows.
-Wipe out the gravelings around NPC.
-Kill front burrow, and the remaining ones.
Right burrows don’t start to spawn (or don’t start spawning mobs) before middle is down? Wiping out adds so they don’t get too many sounds good too.
I voted “revolutionary” because it is the first MMO that has GOOD dynamic events (Rifts “rifts” and invasions are so repetitive), the game feels more alive through this.
I really hate the old “run around to gather quests and then run back to turn in” style of other MMOs… hearts and events for the win
It is by far the best buy to play MMO (no subscription, no pay to win shop) I know, also one of the few MMOs with mostly cosmetic progression instead of endless stat gear grind.
No trinity is revolutionary for a RPG MMO but I don’t really like that…
…It can’t be that hard ?
Almost all groups I do this with take at least half a dozen tries (before patch first-try usually)
Problem 1:
Defender/ Kiter getting overwhelmed and killed or not being able to keep them off Hodgins
Defensive Guardian with staff (hitting several mobs with each autoattack while moving) with stability utilities seems good but what to do if you dont have such a guardian or he can’t do it? At least a dozen of mobs, 25 stacks of bleed and lots of knockdown isn’t easy to survive…
I also know that the others shouldn’t run by Hodgins with adds in tow.
Problem 2:
Burrows don’t go down fast enough and everyone gets swarmed. (btw please finally fix the “obstructed” bug !)
Moving as a group doesn’t work well, splitting in three teams, 2 left – 2 right – 1 defender doesn’t work well either (1 at each burrow is even worse)
Are we doing the wrong order? Usually we do left, left room, far left, middle, right, far right, right “corner”. (worked well before patch but not now…)
Usually we make it (by a hair) after 6-10 tries due to luck (nobody getting knocked down at a bad time etc).
I know you are supposed to do your highest damage melee (ideally AOE) and use stability, protection, condition removal (for the bleeds) as much as possible, but other than that…?
People seem to love ice-bow (It’s great for path 3 but I feel it’s not that great for path 1), but “4” has a really long CD and must be channeled, “3” is meh, “2” usually gets “obstructed”, “1” is bad
What should you use as an elementalist? Before patch switching between icebow 4 and meteor was good but there was no knockdown and huge damage from adds back then. Standing still to channel is not a good idea now…
I would love to hear some tactics from different professions and roles:
Ex. Elementalist; burrow destroyer: weapon x, utilities x, y, z, use these skills, etc :-)
While AC is still doable even in a PUG / non “Elite”-Group, it has become incredibly tedious IMO and you need patient and determined players or you will never finish.
Most groups take 2+ tries at spider (usually half of the group leaves immediately after the first wipe), 6+ (!) tries to defend Hodgins, Ghost Eater takes really long even if you do it right (when not having 4x war, mes berserker group that kills him in 1 trap shot), Rumblus depends on if Grast puts his bubble up or not… (forget about fighting Kholer or Troll in a PUG – the latter is extremely deadly even on story mode!)
I guess it will get better once more people get familiar with the new AC (will take very long as few people do AC anymore)
You know those “screen chests” you get when you do zone completions, monthlies, and dailies? Why not just attach one to events, and make event-spawned mobs not drop loot at all? Then you’ve got a perfect system where people are actually doing events to… finish the event rather than to farm loot.
Excellent idea! The xp and karma reward from events is good, but the money you get is laughable…the monetary / item reward from an event should not all come from drops only. Regular events should have a screen chest (stuff inside should match diffculty and length of the event) and meta events keep the big chest.
^ To me it’s more fun to run with the lower level, I get more xp , get to loot end boss and can play with different skills than with my main. Another reason I prefer to run with my lower level is that switching chars mid dungeon takes a long time for me because of my slow PC.
People should chill…sub level 80s are not making your run taking much longer (if it’s even noticable) if they know what they’re doing (i.e. an alt or has run it before). For most dungeons knowledge (of how the paths are run) → skill → level.
IMO if you don’t advertise for 80 only beforehand, you don’t have the right to kick someone below 80 if they are high enough for the cap, 35, 45, 55 etc
The only issue here is reward, your alts will not reap the rewards of your ranger – this is entirely intended. Given that awards for fractal dailies are character bound as well this is a fair tradeoff.
Nope, rings and relics are account bound, rings are account bound until equipped. You can have good enough gear and AR with your alts that way. So there is no real reason to have fractal being character bound, not account bound. Except more grind.
And Jade Maw attacking ranger pet / mesmer illusions / necro pets / (anything else?)
is a bug or bad design and should be changed IMO.
Corpse not lootable when you were dead is a bug and should be fixed.
IMO ban kicking unless somebody has been disconnected or AFK for more than 5min (or maybe shorter) . Kicking can be abused too easily if you just let players freely do it. If you have a bad player in your group you should rather communicate and try to fix problems that you have.
I think the condition limit should be lifted too (for PVE at least) or raised… there shouldn’t be engine limitations to that (it’s not 2005 anymore…). Condition builds should not be weaker than direct damage builds either… each should haver their advantage- For example, direct damage better to burst some trash mobs, condition damage still ticks on boss when you have to kill adds, etc.
I’d just get rid of MF (Goldfind can stay maybe), and change existing MF gear to have a different gear stat. And then, change the standard drop rates to the rate you’d have with maximum MF. Two birds with one stone, no more complaining about MF leeches and less complaining about bad drop rates.
